  • Widely spreading smart devices have become an important information sharing channel in everyday life. In particular, social networking services (SNS) are the hub for content creation and sharing. Users post their contents on SNS servers and receive contents of interest. Contents are delivered in either pull or push. Regarding delivery, cost and wait time are two important factors to be minimized, but they are in a trade-off relationship. The Push-N-scheme (PNS) and timeout-based push scheme (TPS) have been proposed for content delivery. PNS has an advantage in cost over TPS, whereas TPS has an edge in terms of the wait time over PNS. We propose a hybrid push scheme of PNS and TPS, called push-N-scheme with timeout (PNT), to balance the cost and the wait time. We evaluate PNT through simulations, with the results showing that PNT is effective in balancing PNS and TPS.

  • In a P2P-based distributed storage system where peers frequently join and leave, it is essential to guarantee not only data availability but also playback quality comparable to that provided by local storage devices when playing back video files with real-time constraints. In addition, cloud storage services based on distributed storage systems provide each user with the functionality to share their files with other users, so when multiple users request playback of the same video file at the same time, all playback should be supported seamlessly in real time. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a scheme that process multiple simultaneous playback requests for each video file in real time as well as data availability in a P2P-based distributed storage system that supports file sharing. This scheme can support real-time simultaneous playback and efficiently use storage space by adjusting the amount of redundant data encoded through erasure coding according to the number of concurrent playback requests for each video file.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the typology of child care, investigate the characteristics of child care types, and analyze the differences in time deficit as well as time satisfaction by the types of child care for dual-earner couples with preschool children. The data source for this research was the 2009 Time Use Survey conducted by the Korea National Statistical Office. Dual-earners aged 20 to 59 years completed 1,568 time diaries, which were analyzed using chi-square, cluster analysis, and ANOVA analysis. Child care time was classified into three types in the three categories of child care, household work sharing and leisure sharing for both males and females respectively. Three types for husbands were named "vulnerable", "household work child care predominant" and "leisure predominant". The three types for wives were named "vulnerable", "household work child care oriented" and "household work child care". The characteristics of each type depended on age, education, weekly working hours, gender role of husbands and age, weekly working hours of wives. The vulnerable type of wives showed the highest level of time deficit. Based on the results, implications for Public policy on child care and various types of education as well as programs were suggested.

  • A load-sharing algorithm must deal with load imbalance caused by characteristics of a network and heterogeneity of nodes in Internet-based clustering systems. This paper has proposed the Efficient Load-Sharing algorithm. Efficient-Load-Sharing algorithm creates a scheduler based on the WF(Weighted Factoring) algorithm and then allocates tasks by an adaptive granularity strategy and the refined fixed granularity algorithm for better performance. In this paper, adaptive granularity strategy is that master node allocates tasks of relatively slower node to faster node and refined fixed granularity algorithm is to overlap between the time spent by slave nodes on computation and the time spent for network communication. For the simulation, the matrix multiplication using PVM is performed on the heterogeneous clustering environment which consists of two different networks. Compared to other algorithms such as Send, GSS and Weighted Factoring, the proposed algorithm results in an improvement of performance by 75%, 79% and 17%, respectively.

  • With the corporate environment nowadays being surrounded by plenty of information, the sharing of information among businesses through mutual cooperation tops the list of hot issues. Predictions of demands from the customer, business, or consumer by sharing information can affect the inventory and order production system. However, notwithstanding the importance of sharing information, empirical studies on quantitative use of information still remain insufficient in spite of many a discussion now being made on the sharing of information. This paper proposes to examine the ways meteorological information may affect the rises in the achievements of supply chains in distributive businesses, the kind of information that noticeably affects the consumer behavioral patterns in the distributive businesses but rarely perceived as a form of information shared by businesses. This study is based on a model in which meteorological information has been added as the one used to predict demands, after the beer distribution game has been modified to fit the current status, and simulations under an assumptive situation, where decisions are made on a daily basis, were conducted 50 times for a period of 1000 days for the generalization of the results, while at the same time a Duncan Test was conducted to determine the threshold to use the meteorological information that will be most profitable to the retailer, wholesaler, supplier and the supply chain as a whole. Our findings indicate that corporations have thresholds that vary from business to business depending upon the ratio of backlog costs to inventory costs. At the same time, our findings also show that there existed effective thresholds depending upon the ratio of backlog costs to inventory costs for the performance of the overall supply chain.

  • In this paper, we investigate a spectrum sharing scheme based on the interference temperature (IT), that is a recently introduced receiver-centric metric by FCC. We extend the existing frequency sharing procedure for single CR to the one for multiple CRs (or secondary users, SUs). In the proposed interference model, we consider the practical operating characteristics of primary users (PUs), stochastically activated (ON)/deactivated (OFF) at the time axis, and analyze quantitatively the CR user capacity based on the model. We define the instantaneous capacity for idle time-slot channel allocation and the mean capacity averaging this instantaneous capacity and use them for a proper frequency sharing. Apart from existing schemes, the proposed frequency sharing scheme changes the frequency parameters adaptively depending on the channel characteristics and does not need any sensing information from PUs. Through computer simulation, we verify the proposed model.

  • This qualitative study focused on the activation of cooperative child care sharing centers'. Eight centers nationwide were selected as example cases in accordance with region (large city, small and medium-sized city, county unit), opening time, operating institution, location, full-time care for dual-income children, and participation in the 2020 care community pilot project. Co-researchers visited each center together to observe the site and conducted in-depth interviews with the head of the center or dedicated staff using semi-structured questionnaires. Interview data were analyzed using triangle verification and transcribed : the data were then grouped into 12 categories and 34 subcategories. From this, the following three topics were derived: the main functions, operational difficulties, and activation conditions. In conclusion, four suggestions are made: 1. proper relationship with the Family center, the cooperative childcare sharing center, and the local care communities 2. activation plan through "solution of operational difficulties" 3. "extension" of the cooperative child care sharing center 4. the role of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, the Korea Institute for Healthy Family, local governments, and Family Centers.

  • A problem related to deployment of femtocells is how to manage access of users to radio resources. On one hand, all resources of the femtocell can be reserved for users belonging to a closed subscriber group (CSG), which is a set of users defined by a femtocell subscriber. This approach, known as closed access, however, increases interference to users not included in the CSG as those users do not have a permission to access this femtocell. Contrary, resources can be shared by all users with no priority in an open access mode. In this case, the femtocell subscriber shares radio as well as backhaul resources with all other users. Thus, throughput and quality of service of the subscriber and the CSG users can be deteriorated. To satisfy both the CSG as well as non-CSG users, a hybrid access is seen as a compromise. In this paper, we propose a new approach for sharing radio resources among all users. As in common cases, the CSG users have a priority for usage of a part of resources while rest of the resources is shared by all users proportionally to their requirements. As the simulation results show, the proposed resource sharing scheme significantly improves throughput of the CSG users and their satisfaction with granted bitrates. At the same time, throughput and satisfaction of the non-CSG users is still guaranteed roughly at the same level as if conventional sharing schemes are applied.

  • This paper presents a synchronous generator with a distributed system of multiple parallel three-phase power cells. This generator can immediately output high DC. Each power cell comprises three-phase windings and a three-phase synchronous rectification bridge with a deadbeat control of load power feedforward, which can improve the characteristics of dynamic response and reflect the load variance in real time. Furthermore, each power cell works well independently and modularly using the method of automatic maximum current sharing. The simulation and experimental results for the distributed controller of multiple power cells demonstrate that the deadbeat control method can respond quickly and optimize the quality of the energy. Meanwhile, automatic maximum current sharing can realize the validity of current sharing among power cells.

  • Cluster is the cost-effective parallel processing environment, and consists of the off-the-shelf computers connected by the computer net works. The characteristics of cluster are the node heterogeneity, the variety of node load, and the variety of network load. Because these characteristics influence the performance of parallel program executions, the load sharing for cluster is important, and by using the proper load sharing strategy, we can reduce the execution time of parallel programs. In this paper, we propose modified GSS algorithm, αGSS. In the proposed load sharing algorithms α GSS, the size of tasks are decided using the BogoMIPS of node. From the result of out experiments, we conclude that the proposed αGSS algorithm is effective in the heterogeneous cluster.
