Purpose: This study was conducted to identify job experiences of male hospital nurses. Methods: Data were collected from 20 male nurses working at general hospitals, through semi-structured in-depth interviews. The interviews were recorded and subsequently transcribed verbatim. Using content analysis, data were coded and categorized. Results: The analyzed domains were motivations for choosing nursing, occupational experiences (3 subdomains), and attitudes toward the future. A total of 85 significant statements were selected from the data and classified into 32 categories. The nurses' motivations for choosing nursing were advantages of employment, their aptitude, scarcity value of men, professionalism and job security, good promotion, stable income, and family influence. In occupational experiences, they were assigned to special fields and dissatisfied with vertical relationship, promotion system, their salary, and gaps in military service time; they had difficulties in adapting to female-dominated groups and encountered gender role stereotype and preconception; they were satisfied with their distinguished performance, but had damaged self-esteem, and were stressed and disappointed in their work. In their attitudes toward the future, they considered their career changes, but tried to make professional and personal advancement. Conclusion: These findings have implications for recruiting and retaining male nurses in clinical settings.
A study of estuarine flows during a neap tide was performed using 13-hour roving acoustic Doppler current profiles (ADCP) and conductivity-temperature-depth (CTD) profiles in the Altamaha River estuary, Georgia, U.S.A. The least-squared harmonic analysis method was used to fit the tidal ($M_2$) component and separate the flow into two components: the tidal and residual ($M_2$-removed) flows. We applied this method to depth-averaged data. Results show that the $M_2$ component demonstrates over 95% of the variability of observation data. As the flow was dominated by the $M_2$ tidal component in a narrow channel, the tidal ellipse distribution was essentially a back-and-forth motion. The amplitude of $M_2$ velocity component increased slightly from the river mouth (0.45 m/sec) to land (0.6 m/sec) and the phase showed fairly constant values in the center of the channel and rapidly decreasing values near the northern and southern shoaling areas. The residual flow and transport calculated from depth-averaged flow shows temporal variability over the tidal time scale. Strong landward flows appeared during slack waters which may be attributed to increased baroclinic forcing when turbulent mixing decreases.
We present the magnetic field strengths of CTA 102 using multi-frequency data at 2.6-343.5 GHz in order to study the physical origins of radio flares. The observations at 22 and 43 GHz were conducted using the single-dish radio telescopes of the Korean VLBI Network (KVN) from December 2012 until May 2018 (MJD 56200-58400). We used multi-frequency data obtained from the Effelsberg 100-m, OVRO 40-m, Metsähovi 14-m, IRAM 30-m, SMA, ALMA, and VLBA telescopes. During the period of the observations, two major flares (R1 and R2) are seen clearly at 15 and 37 GHz during MJD 57500-57800 and MJD 58000-58300, respectively. The source shows typical variability with time-scales ranging from 20-161 days at 15 GHz. The variability Doppler factor is in the range of 11.51-31.23. The quasi-simultaneous radio data are used to investigate the synchrotron spectrum of the source, finding that the synchrotron radiation is self-absorbed. The turnover frequency and the peak flux density of the synchrotron self-absorption (SSA) spectra are in ranges of 38.06-167.86 GHz and 1.49-10.38 Jy, respectively. From the SSA spectra, magnetic field strengths are estimated to be < 10 mG. The equipartition magnetic field strengths are larger than the SSA magnetic field strengths by a factor of > 100. This indicates that the radio flares may be related to a particle energy-dominated emission region.
The correlation between the droplets size and the velocity are investigated for an intermittent spray of the pintle type fuel injector employed in a port injection gasoline engine. The analysis such as the mean droplet size, SMD, and velocity under the fixed injection period and varied fuel pressures are conducted utilizing PDPA systems. As results, the experimental data obtained, show that the larger droplet sizes. the higher velocities during the spray tip arrival time, and that at Z=70mm, r=8mm, both droplet sizes and velocities are peak. At the upstream, flow of droplets are dominated by injection pressure, which are more effected inertia force of droplets at the downstream of Z=70mm.
In this paper we apply PMC (parallel model combination) to speech recognition system online. As a representative of model based noise compensation techniques, PMC compensates environmental mismatch by combining pretrained clean speech models and real-time estimated noise information. This is very effective approach for compensating extreme environmental mismatch but is inadequate to use in on-line system for heavy computational cost. To reduce the computational cost and to apply PMC online, we use a noise masking effect - the energy in a frequency band is dominated either by clean speech energy or by noise energy - in the process of model compensation. Experiments on artificially produced noisy speech data confirm that the proposed technique is fast and effective for the on-line model compensation.

Gyeongju, which was the central city of the ancient civilization at Silla Kingdom, has various kinds of stone cultural properties. It is significantly important to preserve historical sources of Korea. However, recent air quality data measured in Gyeongju did not show good air quality level. In order to investigate variation of the concentration of the air pollutants with meteorological condition, an air quality monitoring and an aerosol sampling were conducted during the intensive monitoring period in Gyeongju. Impacts of the meteorological factors on the air pollutants were also analyzed based on the air mass pathway categories using HYSPLIT model and the local wind patterns using MM5 model. The prevailing air mass pathways were classified into four categories as following; category I affected by easterly marine aerosols, category II affected by northwesterly continental aerosols, category III affected by southwesterly continental aerosols, and category IV affected by northerly continental aerosols. The concentrations of the air quality standards were relatively lower during the fall intensive monitoring period. At that time, the easterly marine air mass pattern was dominated. The seasonal average mass concentration of $PM_{10,Opt}$, which optically measured at the monitoring site, was the highest value of $77.6{\pm}28.3\;{\mu}g\;m^{-3}$ during the spring intensive monitoring period but the lowest value of $20.1{\pm}5.3\;{\mu}g\;m^{-3}$ during the fall intensive monitoring period. The concentrations of $SO_2$ and CO were relatively higher when the air mass came from the northwestern continent or the northern continent. The concentrations of ${SO_4}^{2-}$ and ${NO_3}^-$ increased under the northwesterly continental condition. It was estimated that the acidic aerosols were dominated in the atmosphere of Gyeongju when the air mass came from the continental regions.
The main purpose of this study is to discuss the design wind loads for the structural frames of single-layer latticed domes with long spans. First, wind pressures are measured simultaneously at many points on dome models in a wind tunnel. Then, the dynamic response of several models is analyzed in the time domain, using the pressure data obtained from the wind tunnel experiment. The nodal displacements and the resultant member stresses are computed at each time step. The results indicate that the dome's dynamic response is generally dominated by such vibration modes that contribute to the static response significantly. Furthermore, the dynamic response is found to be almost quasi-static. Then, a series of quasi-static analyses, in which the inertia and damping terms are neglected, is made for a wide range of the dome's geometry. Based on the results, a discussion is made of the design wind load. It is found that a gust effect factor approach can be used for the load estimation. Finally, an empirical formula for the gust effect factor and a simple model of the pressure coefficient distribution are provided.

Various Parameters such as stream velocities, discharges, and dispersion coefficients of dissolved solutes were estimated by fitting 1-D nonreactive solute transport model to the time-series chemistry data. This study was done for the reaches of Mankyung River lower than the Jeonju Wastewater Treatment Plant (Jeonju WTP). Korea. Concentrations of inorganic chemicals in the stream waters are strongly influenced by mixing with the chemically distinct effluent from Jeonju WTP. Sulfate, EC. and the total major cation were proved to be nearly conservative in the study area front their relationships with chloride, the conservative chemical species. The solute transport model was constrained to the time-series concentrations for these 4 conservative species. The variations of concentration and discharge of Jeonju WTP were used as input parameters, and the stream velocities, dispersion coefficients, and concentrations and discharges of some inflows were optimized. The differences between the observed arid simulated values for alkalinities and nitrates are inversely correlated and show diurnal fluctuations, indicating the photosynthesis. The parameters obtained front this mode] range from 550 to 774 kcmd (stream discharge at the outlet of the study area), from 0.06 to 0.10 m/sec (flow velocity), and from 0.7 to 6.4 m$^2$/sec (dispersion coefficient). The history of Jeonju WTP discharge was well predicted when optimized, indicating the validity of the model results.
This paper describes a simple method for evaluating the design wind loads for the structural frames of circular flat roofs with long spans. The dynamic response of several roof models were numerically analyzed in the time domain as well as in the frequency domain by using wind pressure data obtained from a wind tunnel experiment. The instantaneous displacement and bending moment of the roof were computed, and the maximum load effects were evaluated. The results indicate that the wind-induced oscillation of the roof is generally dominated by the first mode and the gust effect factor approach can be applied to the evaluation of the maximum load effects. That is, the design wind load can be represented by the time-averaged wind pressure multiplied by the gust effect factor for the first mode. Based on the experimental results for the first modal force, an empirical formula for the gust effect factor is provided as a function of the geometric and structural parameters of the roof and the turbulence intensity of the approach flow. The equivalent design pressure coefficients, which reproduce the maximum load effects, are also discussed. A simplified model of the pressure coefficient distribution is presented.
This paper introduces the wavelet transform that was improved by the fourier transform to assess periodicities and trends, we assessed propriety with examples of two monthly precipitation data, annual precipitation, SOI index and SST index. The wavelet transform can effectively assess the power spectrum corresponding to frequency as maintaining chronological characteristics. The results of the analysis using the wavelet transform showed that the monthly precipitation have the strongest power spectrum near that of 1 year, and the annual precipitation represent the dominated spectrum in the band of 2-8 years. Also, the SOI index and SST index indicate the strongest power spectrum in the band of 2-8 years.
