This paper proposes the development of delay compensator to minimize performance degradation caused by time delays in network-based real-time control systems. The delay compensator uses the time-stamp method as a direct delay measuring method to measure time delays generated between network nodes. The delay compensator predicts the network time delays of next period in the views point of time delays and minimizes performance degradation from network through considering predicted time delays. Control output considering network time delays is generated by the defuzzification of probable time delays of next period. The time delays considered in the delay compensator are modeled by using a timed Petri net model. The proposed delay prediction mechanism for the delay compensator is evaluated through some simulation tests by measuring deviation of the predicted delays from simulated delays.
When investigating a control problem for network based control systems, the main issue is network-induced delay. This delay can degrade the performance of control systems designed without considering the delay and even destabilize the system. In this paper, we consider the stabilization of network based control systems, where there is bounded time-varying delay. This delay is treated like parameter variation of a discrete time system. The state feedback controller design is formulated as linear matrix inequality. Finally, we show that the stability of control systems designed with considering the delay is superior to that is not so.
This paper studies the delay-characteristics using the singular values and vectors of Hankel operators for input delay systems. First, the computational method of Hankel singular values and their corresponding singular vectors are introduced, and then it is analytically provea that all the Hankel singular vlues have a monotone increasing properties as the length of delay time increases. Furthermore, through a simple numerical example, it is shown that the Hankel singular values are dependent only on the ratio of the time constant of a lumped parameter system to the length of delay , and in case that the time constant is relatively larger than the delay time, the lumped parameter characteristic has a great influence on the input delay systems.
The performance of the direct adaptive time-delay command shaping filter depends on the select time-delay. In the previously introduced direct adaptive command shaping filter, however, the time-delay value is fixed and only the magnitudes of the impulses are learned. In this paper, the authors introduce a new scheme to adapt the time-delay which is to be used in conjunction with the direct adaptive command shaping for the improved vibration suppression in flexible motion system. In order to formulate the time-delay adaptation scheme, the authors have analyzed the effect of the time-delay value on the performance of the direct adaptive command shaping filter. By modifying the direct adaptation formula based on the analysis result the authors have established a set of equations to adapt the time-delay toward the optimal value. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed time-delay adaptation approach for the improved vibration suppression.
A time-delay feedback control approach is proposed for making a given stable continuous-time Takagi-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy system chaotic, which is based on the fuzzy feedback linearization and a suitable approximate relationship between a time-delay differential equation and a discrete map. The time-delay feedback controller, chosen among several candidates, is a simple sinusoidal function of the delay states of the system, which has small amplitude. This approach is mathematically proven for rigorous generation of chaos from stable continuous-time TS fuzzy systems, where the generated chaos is in the sense of Li and Yorke. Numerical examples are included to visualize the theoretical analysis and the controller design.
Experimental research shows that the nitric oxides ($NO_X$) concentration track at the outlet of selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst with a transient variation of Adblue dosage has a time delay and it features a characteristic of resistance-capacitance (RC). The phenomenon brings obstacles to get the simultaneously $NO_X$ expected to be reduced and equi-molar ammonia available to SCR reaction, which finally inhibits $NO_X$ conversion efficiency. Generally, engine loads change frequently, which triggers a rapid changing of Adblue dosage, and it aggravates the air quality that are caused by $NO_X$ emission and ammonia slip. In order to increase the conversion efficiency of $NO_X$ and avoid secondary pollution, the paper gives a comprehensive analysis of the SCR system and tells readers the key factors that affect time delay and RC characteristics. Accordingly, a map of time delay is established and a solution method for time constant and proportional constant is carried out. Finally, the paper accurately describes the input-output state relation of SCR system by using "variable RC model with time delay". The model can be used for a real-time correction of Adblue dosage, which can increase the conversion efficiency of $NO_X$ in SCR system and avoid secondary pollution forming. Obviously, the results of the work discover an avenue for the SCR control strategy.
Comparing with bar-code systems, RFID systems can supply more efficient work. Using RFID systems, logistic management systems could be helped effectively to gather real-time information. It's available to reduce the working time and object's delay time, and to deal with real-time information by using RFID system. Until now, based on how many pallets used, there is few study about best workload of RFID system. Therefore, in this study, both bar-code and RFID system simulations were executed for inspection process in distribution center. As a result, following the ware pallet quantity, the total cost of both working time and other delay times were calculated and the sensitivity analysis of total cost trend was executed.
This paper considers a time delay control of noncolocated flexible mechanical systems in discrete time domain. A stability criterion suggested in the previous paper is,extended in the consideration of infinite mode property of flexible systems and finite control sampling frequency. Based on the stability criterion, the one step advanced discrete time derivative control is suggested, which can stabilize infinite number of modes of a flexible system. The sensitivity analysis shows the robustness of the one step advanced control to the system parameter uncertainties and time delay errors. Application to a simply supported beam verifies the extended stability criterion and the effectiveness of the one step advanced D-control.

In delay-optimized designs, timing failures due to manufacturing delay defects are more likely to occur because the average timing slacks of paths decrease and the system becomes more sensitive to smaller delay defect sizes. In this paper, the impact of delay optimized logic circuits on delay fault testing will be discussed and compared to the case for non-optimized designs. First, we provide a timing optimization procedure and show that the resultant density function of path delays is a delta function. Next we also discuss the impact of timing optimization on the yield of a manufacturing process and the defect level for delay faults. Finally, we will give some recommendations on the determination of the system clock time so that the delay-optimized design will have the same manufacturing yield as the non-optimized design and on the determination of delay fault coverage in the delay-optimized design in order to have the same defect-level for delay faults as the non-optimized design, while the system clock time is the same for both designs.
