This paper proposes the specific code synchronization technique for DS-SS(Direct Sequence-Spread Spectrum transmission in the DVB-RCS +M standard. DS-SS is better than multi-carrier transmission method under nonlinear channel but imposes a long acquisition time. To improve the synchronization aspect, the robust correlation structure is introduced for acquisition and the nonlinear delay lock loop is done for tracking. MAT(Mean Acquisition Time) performances is shown to validate its superiority. In addition, code tracking and jitter performances are done when code tracking algorithm based on 2 oversamples which is not influenced by sampling clock timing offset and carrier freq. offset is used.

In this paper, we propose a power-efficient scheduling scheme for lightly loaded multicore processors which contain more processing cores than running tasks. The proposed scheme activates a portion of available cores and inactivates the other unused cores in order to save power consumption. The tasks are assigned to the activated cores based on a heuristic mechanism for fast task assignment. Each activated core executes its assigned tasks with the optimal clock frequency which minimizes the power consumption of the tasks while meeting their deadlines. Evaluation shows that the proposed scheme saves up to 78% power consumption of the previous method which activates as many processing cores as possible for the execution of the given tasks.
As of early 2015, more than 12,000 Near-Earth Objects (NEOs) have been catalogued by the Minor Planet Center, however their observational properties such as broadband colors and rotational periods are known only for a small fraction of the population. Thanks to time series observations with the KMTNet, orbits, optical sizes (and albedo), spin states and three dimensional shapes of asteroids and comets including NEOs will be systematically investigated and archived for the first time. Based on SDSS and BVRI colors, their approximate surface mineralogy will also be characterized. This so-called DEEP-South (Deep Ecliptic Patrol of the Southern Sky) project will provide a prompt solution to the demand from the scientific community to bridge the gaps in global sky coverage with a coordinated use of the network of ground-based telescopes in the southern hemisphere. We will soon finish implementing dedicated software subsystem consisted of automated observation scheduler and data pipeline for the sake of increased discovery rate, rapid follow-up, timely phase coverage, and efficient data analysis. We will give a brief introduction to test runs conducted at CTIO with the first KMTNet telescope in February and March 2015 and experimental data processing. Preliminary scientific results will also be presented.

The circuits including with Optical transceiver and clock data recovery, in this paper, SERDES (SERializer-DESerializer) are implemented to construct a GE-PON burst-mode transceiver supporting IEEE 802.3ah and a jig for measuring the burst-mode characteristics, that is to say, PON upstream optical transmission environment are manufactured to evaluate the performance of transceiver. we verified that the limiting amplifier compensated the gap of max. 26dB optical power by experiments. The startup acquisition lock time is 670ns in case of using VSC7123 and 2300ns in case of S2060 and the data acquisition lock time were measured to be 400ns and 600ns, respectively, in the upstream channel transmission in this work. While on the other, VSC7123 is satisfied with IEEE802.3ah recommendations.

As one of solutions to pursue the efficient use of spectrum resource, we proposed the methodology for the co-channel multi-site radar operations with the synchronous GPS clock. The proposed algorithm, based on a quasi orthogonal property, find a candidate set of the time shifted linear frequency modulation(TSLFM) signals with the minimum acceptable level of the correlation among selected TSLFM signals. To check suggested algorithm, numerical analysis for several radars operating in the same channel with a sawtooth waveform has been performed by using range-Doppler processing for the given system parameters, and computational results are presented and examined in terms of range profile and doppler shift for a targets with velocity and distance. Simulated results have a good agreement with assumed target distance and its velocity, within the error of resolution.
There are many filter based image processing algorithms and they usually require a huge amount of computations and memory accesses making it hard to attain a real-time performance, expecially in embedded applications. In this paper, we propose a pipelined hardware structure of the filter based face detection algorithm to show that the real time performance can be achieved by hardware design. In our design, the whole computation is divided into three pipeline stages: resizing the image (Resize), Transforming the image (ICT), and finding candidate area (Find Candidate). Each stage is optimized by considering the parallelism of the computation to reduce the number of cycles and utilizing the line memory to minimize the memory accesses. The resulting hardware uses 507 KB internal SRAM and occupies 9,039 LUTs when synthesized and configured on Xilinx Virtex5LX330 FPGA. It can operate at maximum 165MHz clock, giving the performance of 108 frame/sec, while detecting up to 20 faces.

A Military L-V-C system consists of distributed complex systems integrating Live systems working on physical wall-clock time, Virtual systems ruled by virtually pseudo realtime events on a computer, and Constructive systems only depending on the causal relationship between the continuous events. Recently many needs for L-V-C training systems are increasing in order to achieve the maximum training effects with low costs. While theoretical/logical researches or only partially interworking technologies have been proposed, there are few perfect interworking architectures for totally interoperating L-V-C systems in world-wide. In this paper, we design and develop a novel interworking architecture based on data centric middleware for the consistent global time with the same states on the entire L-V-C data and events by means of integrating the heterogeneous distributed middleware standards of each L-V-C system. In addition, simulated L-V-C systems based on real systems will be used for the efficiency and performance of the developed interworking architecture.
The wide-field and the round-the clock operation capabilities of the KMTNet enables the discovery, astrometry and follow-up physical characterization of asteroids and comets in a most efficient way. We collectively refer to the team members, partner organizations, the dedicated software subsystem, the computing facility and research activities as Deep Ecliptic Patrol of the Southern Sky (DEEP-South). Most of the telescope time for DEEP-South is devoted to targeted photometry of Near Earth Asteroids (NEAs) to push up the number of the population with known physical properties from several percent to several dozens of percent, in the long run. We primarily adopt Johnson R-band for lightcurve study, while we employ BVI filters for taxonomic classification and detection of any possible color variations of an object at the same time. In this presentation, the progress and new findings since the last KAS meeting will be outlined. We report DEEP-South preliminary lightcurves of several dozens of NEAs obtained at three KMTNet stations during the first year runs. We also present a physical model of asteroid (5247) Krylov, the very first Non principal Axis (NPA) rotator that has been confirmed in the main belt (MB). A new asteroid taxonomic classification scheme will be introduced with an emphasis on its utility in the LSST era. The progress on the current version of automated mover detection software will also be summarized.

In this paper, we propose an estimation of network jitter that occurs when transmitting TCP packets containing MPEG-2 TS in progressive streaming service over wired or wireless Internet networks. Based on the estimated network jitter size, we can calculate required de-jitter buffering time to absorb the network jitter at the receiver side. For this purpose, by exploiting the PCR timestamp existing in the TS packet header, we create a new timestamp information that is marked in the optional field of TCP packet header to estimate the network jitter. By using the proposed de-jitter buffering scheme, it is possible to employ the conventional T-STD buffer model without any modification in the progressive streaming service over IP networks. The proposed method can be applicable to the recently developed international standard, MPEG DASH (dynamic adaptive streaming over HTTP) technology.

This paper describes an integrated low pass filter fabricated by using $0.8{\mu}m$ single poly CMOS ASIC technology. The filter has been designed for a 5th-order elliptic switched capacitor filter with cutoff frequency of 5khz, 0.1dB passband ripple. The filter consists of MOS swiches poly capacitors and five CMOS op-amps. For the realization of the SC filter, continuous time transfer function H(s) is obtained from LC passive type, and transfered as discrete time transfer H(z) through bilinear-z transform. Another filter has been designed by capacitor scaling for reduced chip area, considering dynamic range of the op-amp. The test results of two fabricated filters are cutoff frequency of 4.96~4.98khz, 35~38dB gain attenuation and 0.72~0.81dB passband ripple with the ${\pm}2.5V$power supply clock of 50KHz.
