In conventional three-phase rectifiers, it was necessary to use a transformer to obtain low output voltage. In this paper, we propose a characteristic experimental of three-phase diode rectifiers circuit that achieves low voltage by using a very simple circuit configuration that does not have a transformer and does not need any complex control. We also describe the operation principle of the proposed circuit, and der?ive a theoretical formula for its current waveform. On the basis these theoretical values with experimentally obtained input output current characteristics, current amplification factor, and output voltage characteristics, allowed us to confirm the soundness of our theoretical analyses.
This paper studies the effects caused by symmetrical and unsymmetrical voltage sags on three-phase transformer and induction machine. The voltage sag on transformer and induction machine gives rise to inrush current. This inrush current makes sag more severe. These effects depend or many elements such as sag magnitude and duration, type of sag, and fault and recovery voltage instants.
Ferroresonance is a non-linear vibrational phenomenon that is generated by the electrical interaction of the inductance component with the capacitor component of a certain capacitance as the device of the inductance component such as a transformer is saturated due to the degradation, the waveform distortion of current and voltage, and the oscillation of overcurrent and overvoltage in a system. Recently, ferroresonance was generated from the waveform distortion of current and voltage, or the overvoltage or undervoltage phenomenon caused by the nature of an electrical power system and design technology of the transformer in the three phase transformer system. Hence, in general, ferroresonance analyzed by converting to the LC equivalent circuit. However, in general, the aforementioned analytical method only applies to the resonance phenomenon that is generated by the interaction of the capacitance of bussbar and grounding, and switching as the capacitor component with PT and the transformer as the inductance component in a system. Subsequently, the condition where ferroresonance was generated since overvoltage was supplied as line voltage to the phase voltage and thus the iron core is saturated due to the interconnection between grounded and ungrounded systems could not be analyzed when single phase PT was connected in a ${\Delta}$/Y connection system. In this study, voltage swell in the configuration of grounded circuit of a step-up transformer with the ${\Delta}-{\Delta}$ connection linked to PT for control power and the ferroresonance generated by overvoltage when the line voltage of the ${\Delta}-{\Delta}$ connection was connected to the phase voltage of the grounded Y-Y connection were analyzed using PSCAD / EMTDC through the failure case of the transformer caused by ferroresonance in the system with the ${\Delta}-{\Delta}$/Y-Y connection, and subsequently, the preventive measure of ferroresonance was proposed.
In this paper, a high frequency transformer - assisted auxiliary active resonant commutated snubber (HFTA-ARCS) for voltage source soft switching pulse width modulated power conversion circuits is presented. A three phase voltage source type soft switching inverter incorporating HFTA-ARCS circuits in its three bridge legs can reduce current rating of auxiliary active power switches and has sensorless simplified control scheme which any specified boost current management is not required for soft switching. Its operation principle and digital control scheme are described and a practical design method of circuit parameters on this HFTA-ARCS circuit is also introduced on the basis of computer simulation. Moreover, this space voltage vector modulated soft switching inverter system with DSP-based digital control scheme Is discussed and its effectiveness is proved on the basis of performance evaluations. The operating performances of this inverter system are also compared with those of conventional three-phase hard switching inverter under practical conditions of specified parameters.
This paper deal with the harmonic reduction technique in three-phase square-wave inverter system formed by single-phase inverter. To reduce the harmonics six single-phase inverters are used for forming multi-phase inverter and zig-zag connected output transformer for eliminating the harmonic 6(2k-1)$\pm$1 orders. And an ac filter is furnished at output side. Computer simulations show that the THD of the output voltage can be reduced immensely.
Partial Discharge (PD) phenomena occurred by different nature of insulating defects has been regarded as a random process by which Phase Resolved Partial Discharge Analysis(PRPDA) has been proposed and then commercially accepted for the diagnosis of the power apparatus since more than three decades. Moreover, for the same purpose, a novel approach based on the Chaotic Analysis(CAPD) has been proposed since 2000, in which Partial Discharge(PD) phenomena is suggested to be considered as a deterministic dynamical process. In this work, for the diagnosis of Gas Insulated Transformer(GITr), four different types of specimen were fabricated as a model of the possible defects that might possibly cause its sudden failures such as turn to turn insulation, inter coil insulation, free moving particle and protrusion. For this purpose, these defects are introduced into the Gas Insulated Transformer(GITr) mock-up and experimental investigations have been carried out in order to analyze the related Partial Discharge(PD) patterns by means of both Phase Resolved Partial Discharge Analysis(PRPDA) and Chaotic Analysis(CAPD) respectively and then their comparisons are made systematically.
In this paper, we suggest a new distribution model for a single phase transformer which is different from the existing model which was modeled for only primary parts, but new distribution model is modeled for primary and secondary parts. Using this model, we simulate various faults of the transformer to know how the transfer function vary from the normal one, i.e., the trend of the variation of transfer function. As an another approach, we measure the voltage and current of a three phase transformer while various faults are made at the transformer. From the simulation of the model and experiment, we fine some trends of the variation of transfer function.
The finite element method for calculating single phase transformer inductance is presented in this paper. There are three basic definitions of saturated transormer inductance. The set of nonlinear finite element equations is solved by the Newton-Raphson method which assures nearly quadratic convergence of the iteration process. The effect of perturbation of currents of this transformer is used to calculate the saturated winding inductance. This approach is used to calculate the apparent, effective and incremental inductance of single phase transformer. The apparent inductance is in good agreement with resting result. The approach enabled one to study the variation of winding inductance according to the saturation levels in the core at any operating point.
In the case of the large power transformer, the grain-oriented material is usually used. So, to obtain more accurate results, anisotropy and non-linearity of the material must be considered. The Newton-Raphson(NR) method is generally used for analyzing these non-linear properties, but it consumes so much time, especially when the number of nodes is large or the shape of the model is complex. The transmission line modeling (TLM) method is successfully adopted to the analysis of non-linear properties with FEM, but it has not been adopted to the analysis of the anisotropic material. In this paper, the formulation of the TLM method considering anisotropy is developed and the adoption to the 3-phase transformer is presented.
