2 Components polyurethane coatings are widely used for the industrial coating in general because of its excellent film performance and the workability which were brought by the 3 dimensional cross linked chain structures being formed after the reaction between polyol and polyisocyanate. 2 components polyurethane can be classified into alkyd polyol, polyester polyol, acrylic polyol and polyester modified acrylic polyol depending on where it is used. This research was conducted under the conditions below; different chemical compositions of resin for paint, set the same conditions of viscosity, thinner and acid value, set alternative polyols, OH values and catalysts, set alternative polyisocyanate hardeners of the paint, measure the reaction rates and dynamic mechanical characteristics using RPT-3000, Rotation Rheometer, DMA and FTIR. The research found that the reactivity between polyol and isocyanate influences the film performance and workability depending on the catalysts, OH values and chemical compositions. We find out that different reaction rate of acrylic polyol and polyester modified acrylic polyol with poly-isocyanate is not influenced on temperature and catalyst. In addition, reaction speed of high hydroxyl content polyol is faster than low hydroxyl equivalent. These results can improve difficult working condition to apply urethane coating.

Thinner and lighter structural members can be designed by utilizing the high stiffness and toughness, and high compressive strength of UHPC(ultra high performance concrete), which reaches up to 200MPa. The punching shear capacity of UHPC was investigated in this paper aiming for the application of UHPC to bridge decks. Six square slabs were fabricated and punching shear test was performed under fixed boundary condition. Different thicknesses of test slabs, which were 40mm and 70mm, were selected. The shape ratio of loading plates were ranged between 1.0~2.5. 40mm thickness slabs showed longer softening region after the peak load and, on the other hand, 70mm thickness slabs revealed a more brittle shear failure. Experimental results were analyzed using various existing punching shear predicting equations. Ductal$^{(R)}$ equation and JSCE equation better predicted for 40mm slabs, and Harajli et al. equation and ACI-Ductal$^{(R)}$ equation better suited for 70mm slabs. Nevertheless generally they didn't well predict the test results. A new punching shear equation which was derived based on the actual failure mechanism was proposed. The proposed equation appeared to better predict the punching shear strength of UHPC than other available equations.
The changes of microstructures, morphology of sclerotic dentin and bonding aspects generated by an adhesive resin was investigated. Incisors and premolars showing natural cervical abrasions were collected and conditioned with 10 % phosphoric acid or 10 % maleic acid. The sclerotic dentin specimens were then rinsed and blot-dried and applied with dentin adhesive (All Bond 2) to the conditioned dentin surface. To examine the morphologic change of the sclerotic dentin specimen after etching and bonding procedure, the treated specimens were examined by SEM. To analyze the chemical composition of sclerotic dentin and crystals occluding dentinal tubules, the sclerotic dentin specimen was powdered and examined with X-ray Diffractometer. To investigate the Ca/P weight percent ratio within the dentinal tubules, the sclerotic dentin specimen was fractured perpendicularly to the long axis of the tooth from the center of cervical abrasion lesion and then examined with EDX(Energy Dispersive X-ray) microanalyzer. The results were as follows : 1. The increased width of peritubular dentin and the depositions of the irregular amorphous materials within the dentinal tubules were showed in the sclerotic dentin specimens. 2. After the treatment of sclerotic dentin specimen with 10 % phosphoric acid or 10 % maleic acid, the lateral side of tubules rather than cross-sectional tubule openings was showed exclusively at the incisal and gingival incline of the specimens. 3. After the treatment of sclerotic dentin specimen with 10 % phosphoric acid or 10 % maleic acid, the hybrid layer was not formed evidently and the resin tag was not formed or shortly penetrated into the tubules with the thinner diameter. 4. According to the results of XRD analysis of the sclerotic dentin specimen, Hydroxyapatite and Octacalcium phosphate were predominent, however, Whitlockite crystals were rare. 5. The mean Ca/P weight percent ratio analysed from 5 fractured sclerotic dentin specimens was $2.322{\pm}0.170$ at the intertubular dentin, $1.826{\pm}0.051$ within the dentinal tubule.
Purpose: This study (a) investigated the effect of microwave power intensity and sample thickness on microwave drying characteristics of radish strips, and (b) determined the best-fit drying model for describing experimental drying data, effective moisture diffusivity ($D_{eff}$), and activation energy ($E_a$) for all drying conditions. Methods: A domestic microwave oven was modified for microwave drying and equipped with a small fan installed on the left upper side for removing water vapor during the drying process. Radishes were cut into two fixed-size strip shapes (6 and 9 mm in thickness). For drying experiments, the applied microwave power intensities ranged from 180 to 630 W at intervals of 90 W. Six drying models were evaluated to delineate the experimental drying curves of both radish strip samples. The effective moisture diffusivity ($D_{eff}$) was determined from Fick's diffusion method, and the Arrhenius equation was applied to calculate the activation energy ($E_a$). Results: The drying time was profoundly decreased as the microwave power intensity was increased regardless of the thickness of the radish strips; however, the drying rate of thicker strips was faster than that of the thinner strips up to a certain moisture content of the strip samples. The majority of the applied drying models were suitable to describe the drying characteristics of the radish strips for all drying conditions. Among the drying models, based on the model indices, the best model was the Page model. The range of estimated $D_{eff}$ for both strip samples was from $2.907{\times}10^{-9}$ to $1.215{\times}10^{-8}m^2/s$. $E_a$ for the 6- and 9-mm strips was 3.537 and 3.179 W/g, respectively. Conclusions: The microwave drying characteristics varied depending on the microwave power intensity and the thickness of the strips. In order to produce high-quality dried radish strips, the microwave power intensity should be lower than 180 W.
The present study was performed to investigate the effect of plant type recombinant porcine somatotropin (pST) adminstration on growth performance and blood profile of finishing pigs. Forty-eight Landrace barrows weighing 78 kg were employed for six week growth trial. Twelve barrows were allocated into various rpST types ; the control (CONT), the 4:1 type rpST (TRT 1), the 1:1 type rpST (TRT 2); and the 4:1 type rpST group(TRT 3) respectively. CONT group were not planted rpST. TRT 1 group was treated with rpST once a week for 6 weeks. Each dose contained the rpST equivalent to 100mg from initial to two weeks and 125mg from three weeks to finial week. TRT 2 and TRT 3 groups were planted rpST four times contained the rpST equivalent to 100mg during trial period from initial to two weeks, and 125 mg from three weeks, to four weeks, respectively. All pigs were fed a commercial feed containing 0.9% lysine ad lib. Daily gain increased by 19.4% in TRT 1(p<0.05) compared to the CONT. rpST improved feed/gain by 13.4~28.9% in all treatment groups(p<0.05). Back fat thickness of the all rpST treated groups were 23.3~29.2% thinner than that of the CONT. These results indicated that the rpST stimulated growth performance in finishing pigs and plant type rpST could be used as a growth stimulant for finishing pigs.

Polymer dispersed liquid crystal(PDLC) composite films were made by polymerization induced phase separation method using UV-curing to investigate the effect of fabrication conditions, such as photoinitiator concentration, film thickness, polymerization temperature, and electric field during polymerization, etc., on the electro-optic properties. As the amount of photoinitiator increased, the driving voltage of PDLC device increased due to the increase of small-size liquid crystal phases. This was considered as the results from the increased interfacial area between liquid crystal (LC) and polymer matrix, since LC molecules at the interfacial regions were relatively difficult to response for the applied electric field. When the higher molecular weight oligomer (PTDA-1000) was used as matrix, the initial transmittance was observed to be relatively higher than that for the lower molecular weight oligomer (PTDA-250). Saturation transmittance for PTDA-1000 was observed at relatively lower voltage than that for PTDA-250, of which transmittance was not saturated even at 60 V. As polymerization temperature increased, the initial transmittance of resulting PDLC film increased due to the larger LC droplets formation and the more matched refractive index between LC and matrix than those cases for the lower polymerization temperature. Though driving voltage decreased for the thinner film, it was considered that optimum thickness of the film should be maintained to get some practical contrast, which is the ratio of off- and on-state transmittance. Furthermore, electro-optic properties such as initial transmittance, driving voltage, and response time were observed to be considerably affected by application of external field during polymerization.

Introduction: To correct the facial asymmetry by mandibular jaw surgery, it is important to know the anatomy of the mandible including the mandibular canal positioning of patients with facial asymmetry. This study was performed to evaluate the differences in the cross-sectional surface in the body of the mandible between the deviated side and opposite side in patients with facial asymmetry. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted on 37 adult patients composed of 2 groups, the asymmetry group (n=20) and non-asymmetry group (n=17). Using the cross-sectional computed tomography (CT) images, the distance from the buccal aspect of the mandibular canal to the outer aspect of the buccal cortex, distance from the buccal aspect of the mandibular canal to the inner aspect of the buccal cortex, distance from the inferior aspect of the mandibular canal to the inferior border of the mandible, thickness of the mandible, and cross-sectional surface area of the mandible were measured in each side of the mandible Results: The cross-sectional area of the mandible including the mandibular canal positioning in the deviated side was not statistically different from the opposite side in the asymmetry group. Only the distance from the inferior aspect of the mandibular canal to the inferior border of the mandible in the ramus area of the deviated side was significantly longer than opposite side. On the other hand, the bucco-lingual width of the asymmetry group was thinner than the non-asymmetry group. Conclusion: The cross-sectional area including the mandibular canal of the mandible did not appear to be modified by the facial asymmetry.
For the first step to develop a reference disposal container of spent fuel to be used in a deep geological repository, this paper examined safe dimensions of the disposal container on the points of nuclear criticality and radiation safety and mechanical structural safety and provided basic information for dimensioning the container and configuration of the container components, and establishing the favorable and safe disposal conditions. When the safety factor for stress due to the external loads (hydrostatic and swelling pressure) is taken as 2.0, the safe diameter of the filler material to provide enough container strength under the assumed external loads is found to be 112cm with 13cm spacing between inner baskets in PWR container. Also the thickness of the thinner section between the fuel basket and the surface of the cast insert is determined to be 150 mm. Regarding these dimensions of the container, the PWR fuel container is sketched to accommodate 4 square assemblies or 297 CANDU fuel 297 bundles (33 circle tubes x 9 stacks). However the top and bottom parts need to be checked again through the detail radiation shielding analysis with respects to the emplacement position and handling processes of the disposal container.

Background: This study aims to predict the midline dose based on the entrance and exit doses from optically stimulated luminescence detector (OSLD) measurements for total body irradiation (TBI). Materials and Methods: For TBI treatment, beam data sets were measured for 6 MV and 15 MV beams. To evaluate the tissue lateral effect of various thicknesses, the midline dose and peak dose were measured using a solid water phantom (SWP) and ion chamber. The entrance and exit doses were measured using OSLDs. OSLDs were attached onto the central beam axis at the entrance and exit surfaces of the phantom. The predicted midline dose was evaluated as the sum of the entrance and exit doses by OSLD measurement. The ratio of the entrance dose to the exit dose was evaluated at various thicknesses. Results and Discussion: The ratio of the peak dose to the midline dose was 1.12 for a 30 cm thick SWP at both energies. When the patient thickness is greater than 30 cm, the 15 MV should be used to ensure dose homogeneity. The ratio of the entrance dose to the exit dose was less than 1.0 for thicknesses of less than 30 cm and 40 cm at 6 MV and 15 MV, respectively. Therefore, the predicted midline dose can be underestimated for thinner body. At 15 MV, the ratios were approximately 1.06 for a thickness of 50 cm. In cases where adult patients are treated with the 15 MV photon beam, it is possible for the predicted midline dose to be overestimated for parts of the body with a thickness of 50 cm or greater. Conclusion: The predicted midline dose and OSLD-measured midline dose depend on the phantom thickness. For in-vivo dosimetry of TBI, the measurement dose should be corrected in order to accurately predict the midline dose.

We report new polymer stabilized ferroelectric liquid crystal (PSFLC) cells with mechanical stability which is achievable by introducing photospacers in the cells. It was found that the mechanical st ability of the PSFLC cell was effected by introduction of photo spacers. We analyzed the dependence of mechanical stability and memory property on the density of photospacers in the PSFLC cell. The stability and memory properties of PSFLC Cells depending on photospacer density are discussed. 1. Introduction Recently, flexible displays have attracted much attention because they have remarkable advantages: thinner, lighter, non-breakable and conformable features. Flexible displays have various potential applications such as e-book and e-paper displays utilizing the distinct features. E-book and E-paper displays demand very low power consumption, so that bistable memory liquid crystal modes are required in case of flexible plastic LCDs for those application. Three kinds of memory LC modes have been developed; bistable nematic, bistable cholesteric and bistable FLC. Among them SSFLC as one of bistable FLC has big advantages such as low driving voltage, wide view angle and fast response time, SSFLC cells are, however, very weak against mechanical shock. Polymer stabilized FLC (PSFLC) has been developed to overcome the poor mechanical stability of SSFLC. PSFLC was known to have network structure that FLCs are oriented with smectic layer ordering in polymer network. The polymer network stabilizes the FLC orientation, which leads to improvement of mechanical stability of PSFLCD. A lot of studies have been done for the application of PSFLC to flexible $LCDs.^{[1{\sim}12]}$ However, it should be noted that PSFLC does not have sufficient mechanical stability for the particular applications such as smart card LCD, where LCD is highly bendable.Bead spacer was mainly used to maintain cell gap of conventional PSFLCDs. But the spacer density of it is not locally uniform in the cell, so that it is generally difficult that the PSFLCDs with bead spacers show sufficient mechanical stability. In order to more improve the mechanical stability of PSFLCDs, we introduced photospacers into PSFLCDs. In this paper, we describe the improvement of mechanical stability by introducing photospacers into PSFLCDs.
