Microporous gel films of 29 m were prepared by the gel drawing of UHMWPE/soybean oil blend (4:6, w/w) up to 800%. The stretched films containing the optimal photoinitiator concentration, depending on the film thickness, was cross-linked under 365 nm LED-UV irradiation and the oil was extracted with n-hexane, resulting in a gel fraction of 95 % or more. With the formation of the cross-linked structure, the melt-down temperature and melt-down elongation increased by 16 ℃ and by 63% respectively. Also the thermal stability of the crosslinked UHMWPE was proved by the area shrinkage under the heat treatment decreased to 3.8 % compared to 17.4 % for the pristine film, and by the reductions in the combustion heat. The enhanced thermal stability of the crosslinked UHMWPE microporous membranes can be used for various industrial applications such as filters, electric vehicles and energy storage systems.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate and compare the results of argon laser for 5 seconds, argon laser for 10 seconds, and visible light for 40 seconds photo-polymerization in compressive strength, microhardness, curing depth, temperature rising during polymerization, and polymerization shrinkage. Hybrid type composite resin(Z-100) and compomer(Dyract) were used to be compared. The compressive strength was measured by an Instron(1mm/min cross head speed) in 60 specimens and the microhardness of the surface was expressed by Vickers Hardness Number(VHN) in 30 specimens. The curing depth was evaluated comparing the different values of upper and lower VHN according to irradiation time and thickness for the light source polymerization in 60 specimens. The temperature rising during photopolymerization was observed by the temperature change with thermocouple sensitizer beneath 40 specimens at the argon laser for 10 seconds and visible light 40 seconds irradiation. The polymerization shinkage was evaluated by calculating the decrease of % volume by using a dilatometer in 30 specimens. The results were as follows ; 1. In the case of compressive strength, the argon laser polymerization groups were higher than visible light group in Z-100 (p<0.05). In Dyract, the argon laser 5 seconds group did not show a significant difference with the visible light 40 seconds group. The argon laser 10 seconds group showed the markedly low value when compared with other groups (p<0.05) 2. In microhardness, Z-100 was better than Dyract when comparing by VHNs (p<0.05); however, there was not a significant difference between two materials in the visible light 40 seconds group and the argon laser 10 seconds group. 3. In the study of curing depth, Z-100 showed the consistent polymerization in argon laser irradiation because there was no difference in the VHN decrease according to the thickness change. Over the thickness control, the results did not show a significant difference between visible light and argon laser group in Z-100; however, in the case of Dyract, the visible light 40 seconds group was better than the argon laser groups(p<0.05). 4. There was a significant difference between the two materials in temperature rising during polymerization (p<0.05), but not a significant difference between irradiation times, 5. There was not a significant difference between the two materials in polymerization shrink age. The argon laser 5 seconds group was smaller than the other groups (p<0.05). It could be concluded that Z-100 polymerization was recommended to use the argon laser for reduction of the irradiation time while Dyract was recommended to use the visible light polymerization.

This study investigated the colors and mechanical properties of layered dental composites. Four nanocomposite resins (Aelite LS, Grandio, Tetric EvoCeram, Filtek Z350XT) and a silorane-based composite resin (P90) were used for overlying and underlying materials, respectively, with different thickness combinations. Colors, translucency parameter (TP), flexural and compressive properties were evaluated. All tested specimens had different color coordinates, although all were of A3 shade. Color coordinates and TP values of layered specimens better matched those of the corresponding overlying product as the thickness of the overlying product was increased. High TP values were related with high $b^*$ value differences between specimens (p<0.05). Both flexural strength and modulus, compressive strength and modulus of layered specimens with different thickness combinations were mostly lower than those of the corresponding overlying products, respectively, in their non-layered state.
The object of this study is to prove the quality and reliability of recycled aggregate concrete by finding a way to improve the durability of the material through the experiment on the accelerated carbonation, freezing and thaw, and drying shrinkage, analysing the influence on the durability to Promote more active use of recycled aggregate concrete. The result of study as follows. (1) Resistibility to the freeze and thaw of the recycled aggregate concrete showed relative dynamic modulus of elasticity over $90\%$ which is very good, and all cycles show $99.2{\~}91.0\%$ dynamic modulus of elasticity which is improved compared with the $97.5{\~}90.6\%$ relative dynamic modulus of elasticity of ordinary concrete made of broken stone. (2) Carbonated thickness of the recycled aggregate concrete and the normal concrete was similar or it appeared with the tendency which it diminishes more or less. (3) Length change rate in drying contraction of the recycled aggregate concrete made of the recycled aggregate was lower than the ordinary concrete made of the broken stone by $18.5{\~}3.9\%$ in all blending.
Purpose: The biocompatibility and bio-adhesive property of a dental implant abutment are important for proper soft tissue healing and maintenance of osseointegration of implant. However, studies of soft tissue healing and mucosal attachment of various materials of implant abutment other than titanium are still needed. In this study, cell attachment, proliferation, cytotoxicity of human gingival fibroblast for ceramic, gold alloy, Ni-Cr alloy and, commercially available pure titanium as a control were evaluated, using MTS and scanning electron microscopy. Materials and Methods: Specimen was designed to disc, 4mm diameter and 1mm thickness, made of ceramic, gold alloy, Ni-Cr alloy and commercially available pure titanium. Primary culture of human gingival fibroblasts were grown in Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium with 10% fetal bovine serum and 1% antibiotics. Cells were inoculated in the multiwell plates placed the specimen disc. Cell Titer 96 AQucous One Solution Cell Proliferation Assay were done after 1hour 3hours, 24hours, 3days, 5days of incubation. The discs were processed for scanning electron micrography to evaluate cell attachment and morphologic change. Results: The results were obtained as fellows. 1. The ceramic showed high cell attachment and proliferation and low cytotoxicity, which is as much bioadhesive and biocompatible as titanium. 2. The gold alloy represented limited proliferation of human gingival fibroblast and the highest cytotoxicity among tested materials (p<0.05). 3. The Ni-Cr alloy limited the proliferaion of the human gingival fibroblast compared to titanium(p<0.05) but cytotoxicity on the bottom of well was not so considerable, compared to titanium. 4. On the scanning electron micrographs , the ceramic showed good attachment and proliferation of human gingival fibroblast, which was similar to titanium. But gold alloy and Ni-Cr alloy showed the shrinkage of gingival fibroblast both after 24 hours and 3 days. On 5th day, small amount of the human gingival fibroblast proliferation was observed on the Ni-Cr alloy, while the shrinkage of gingival fibroblast was still observed on the gold alloy. Conclusions: These results suggest that the ceramic abutment is as biocompatible as titanium to make proper mucosal seal. The gold alloy has a high cytotoxicity to limit proliferation of gingival fibroblast, which suggest limited use on the anterior tooth where soft tissue healing is recommeded.
Veneers of two nominal thicknesses, 1.5 and 2.5mm, were rotary peeled from Japanese larch (Larix leptolepis). Dahurian larch (Larix gmelinei) and Radiata pine (Pinus radiata) bolts unheated and heated in the water vat temperature of $66^{\circ}C$ by rising a final temperature at 10cm core of $60^{\circ}C$ to remain core diameter of 11.4cm. 1.5 and 2.5mm thick veneer cut from the heated Japanese larch were significantly thinner than those of the unheated bolt and 2.5mm thick veneer cut from the heated Dahurian larch were significantly thicker than that of the unheated bolt. 1.5mm thick Dahurian larch veneer and 1.5 and 2.5mm thick Radiata pine veneers showed insignificant difference between the unheated and heated bolts, respectively. Check distance on the loose side of 1.5mm thick veneer cut from the heated Radiata pine was significantly wider than that of the unheated bolt. However check distances on the loose side of 1.5 and 2.5mm thick Japanese larch and Dahurian larch veneers and 2.5mm thick Radiata pine veneers showed insignificant difference between the unheated and heated bolts. Also the depth of check on the loose side of three species showed insignificantly difference between the unheated and heated bolts. Arithmatic mean deviation($R_a$) and maximum height($R_{max}$) of the profile on the loose side of dried veneer by preheating the bolt compared with unheated bolts were different among apecies and between veneer thickness. The preheating treatment slightly affected qualities of these thin veneers such as 1.5 and 2.5mm. The yield of 2.5mm thick veneer from the heated radiata pine was significantly higher than that of the unheated bolt. However the yield of 2.5mm thick veneer for other two species and 1.5mm thick veneer for three species showed insignificant difference between the unheated and heated bolts. The yield of 2.5mm thick veneer for three species were higher than those of 1.5mm thick veneer. The average yields of green veneer of Japanese larch. Dahurian larch and Radiata pine were 57.1, 55.1 and 54.0 percent, respectively. Variables such as initial MC. drying time and veneer thickness had strong effect for Japanese larch veneer, less effect for Radiata pine veneer and nuch less effect on final MC for Dahurian larch veneer in jet drying. Correlation between the current MC and the drying time of Dahurian larch with low variation of initial MC was higher than those of Japanese larch and Radiata pine veneer with high variation of initial MC in high temperature drying. Thickness shrinkages of 2.5mm thick veneer for Japanese larch and Radiata pine were higher than those of 1.5mm thick veneers, but shrinkages of Dahurian larch veneer were similar between two nominal veneer thicknesses.
We have developed a compact and cost-effective camera module on the basis of wafer-scale-replica processing. A multiple-layered structure of several aspheric lenses in a mobile-phone camera module is first assembled by bonding multiple glass-wafers on which 2-dimensional replica arrays of identical aspheric lenses are UV-embossed, followed by dicing the stacked wafers and packaging them with image sensor chips. This wafer-scale processing leads to at least 95% yield in mass-production, and potentially to a very slim phone with camera-module less than 2 mm in thickness. We have demonstrated a VGA camera module fabricated by the wafer-scale-replica processing with various UV-curable polymers having refractive indices between 1.4 and 1.6, and with three different glass-wafers of which both surfaces are embossed as aspheric lenses having $230{\mu}m$ sag-height and aspheric-coefficients of lens polynomials up to tenth-order. We have found that precise compensation in material shrinkage of the polymer materials is one of the most technical challenges, in orderto achieve a higher resolution in wafer-scaled lenses for mobile-phone camera modules.

Required performance for repair materials are strength, ductility, durability and bonding with the substrate concrete. Various kinds of fiber-reinforced cement composites (FRCCs) have been developed and used as repair materials. Strain-hardening cement based composites (SHCC) is one of the effective repair materials that can be used to improve crack-damage tolerance of reinforced concrete (RC) structures. SHCC is a superior FRCC that has multiple cracking characteristic and pseudo strain-hardening behavior. The expansive admixture, which can be used to reduce shrinkage in SHCC materials with less workability by controlling interfacial bonding performance between SHCC and substrate concrete. For the application of SHCC as a repair material to RC structures, this study investigates the flexural performance of expansive SHCC-layered concrete beam. Test variables include the replacement levels of expansive admixture (0 and 10%), repair thickness (30 and 40 mm), and compressive strength of SHCC (30, 70 and 100 MPa). Four point bending tests on concrete beams strengthened with SHCCs were carried out to evaluate the contribution of SHCC on the flexural capacity. The result suggested that expansive SHCC materials can be used for repairing and strengthening of concrete infrastructures.

In most RP processes, the inherent stair-stepped surfaces and shrinkage-induced warping of the parts require post processing such as surface finishing. To minimize such defects, VLH-ST, a newly developed RP process, employs a 3.9-mm thick expandable polystyrene (EPS) foam sheet and a hot wire to contour it to have slant linear-interpolated sides. The use of relatively thick sheets for layers, however, limits the process capability of constructing fine details, especially smaller than the layer thickness. This study is focused on the development of a post processing method fo fine details of VLM-ST parts. The post-processing tool was designed to meet all the requirements for the desirable post processing. It adopted a hot wire as a means of melting the EPS foam sheet. Various basic experiments on the post processing were carried out to obtain the optimal process conditions. The dominant process parameters such as the radiated heat input, the tool speed, and the gap between the tool tip and the foam sheet (tool height) were considered in the experiments. The effectiveness of the developed post-processing method fo forming or engraving fine details on the VLM-ST parts has been thus demonstrated. The experiments on engraving several sets of letters, such as CANESM, 인간, and 한국과학기술원, on the EPS foam sheet were carried out. In addition, a flowery shape was engraved on a three-dimensionally curved surface of a pottery-shape VLM-ST part.
To investigate the properties of PET films, PET films were extruded at various temperature above $T_m$ and quenched at $18^{\circ}C$ for amorphous sheet, and stretched along a direction defined as the machine direction (MD) with a transverse direction (TD) above $T_g$ at various stretching ratios and then annealed at various temperatures produced by SKC PET line. Thermal shrinkage of MD and TD increased with decreasing annealing temperature and extruding temperature, and increasing stretching ratio. The degree of crystallinity, density, heat of fusion (${\Delta}H$) and pre-melting point ($T_m'$) increased with increasing annealing temperature and extruding temperature. Number average molecular weight ($M_n$) and intrinsic viscosity decreased with increasing extruding temperature. Tensile strength and modulus increased with increasing stretching ratio, however decreased with increasing annealing temperature. Reflective index of both stretching and thickness direction increased with increasing stretching ratio and annealing temperature.
