In order to utilize Kumquats as a processed products, a Citrus varieties produced in Cheju island, physicochemical properties of Kumquats, sensory evaluation of frozen Kumquats, sensory evaluation and texture parameter of Kumquats processed foods were investigated. Fruit size, weight, peel ratio, peel thickness, and Brix/acid ratio of Youngpa Kumquats cultivated in green house were 29.5 mm, 16.10g, 4.63 mm and 20.0 respectively, and it was suitable for as raw-eating and processing materials. Kumquats juice consisted of 58.27% citric acid, 32.49% malic acid, 9.14% tartaric acid and 0.08% maleic acid of total organic acids. Organic acid contents of Kumquats juice was very different from Citrus unshiu juice in malic acid content. Sensory evaluation on frozen Kumquats stored at $-18^{\circ}C$ for 6 month was good for appearance, taste and texture as summer commodity. Vitamin C content of frozen Kumquats was 74.94 mg/100g, and its content was decreased slightly during fronzen storage. Hardness on Kumquats jam was lowered from 1,294 to 355 g-force as the ratio of Kumquats juice content was increased, but the changes of other texture parameter were not so large. Kumquats jam contained $40{\sim}60%$ orange juice was evaluated as superior to orange jam for panelists.
This study attempted to investigate the effects of gold therapy on myofascial pain syndrome(MPS) in the neck, back and shoulder in comparison to stone therapy and verify its availability as an efficient nursing mediator in clinical trials. For this, therapy was given to a total of 20 women in two groups (gold therapy group, stone therapy group: 10 persons each) living in the capital region three times a week (40 min. at a time) for two weeks. In both groups, a statistically significant decrease was found in the following after the treatment: neck circumference, shoulder width, width of the inferior angle of scapula, shoulder thickness and waist circumference (p<0.001). In terms of differences, the gold therapy group was greater than the stone therapy group. In both groups, a statistically significant increase was observed after treatment in the following: cervical lateral bending (right), cervical lateral bending (left), cervical flexion and cervical extension angle (p<0.001). In terms of differences, the gold therapy group was greater than the stone therapy group. In conclusion, this study seems to show that gold therapy is a nursing intervention option having effective fascial relaxation and pain relief for the neck, back and shoulder. Therefore, it would be valuable as safe, non-invasive therapy.
In order to improve efficacy of oriental medicines and to study the application of fermented oriental medicine in clinicals, the efficacy of CYT and CYTBH on atopic dermatitis were evaluated. The results and conclusions are as follows. CYT and CYTBH significantly improved the atopic dermatitis symptoms in NC/Nga mice by naked eye evaluation and significantly decreased clinical index in both groups. CYT and CYTBH both decreased the cell numbers of CD3+, CD11b+Gr-1+ cells in dorsal skin. Of the cells, CYT significantly decreased CD11b+Gr-1+ cells whereas CYTBH significantly decreased all immune cells. CYT and CYTBH both decreased the production rate of IL-4 and IFN-${\gamma}$ activated by CD3/CD28. In the case of CYTBH, significant decrease in all cases was observed. CYT and CYTBH decreased the production rate of IL-5, IL-13 and IL-17 in serum. Significant decrease of IL-5 in the case of CYT and IL-5 and IL-13 in the case of CYTBH were observed. CYT and CYTBH significantly decreased transcription of IL-5 mRNA and IL-13 mRNA in skin. Significant decrease in IgG1 and IgE immunoglobulins in serum were oberved in both groups. Significant decrease was only observed in the case of CYTBH. Both CYT and CYTBH significantly decreased the secretion of histamine. Both CYT and CYTBH suppressed erythema, hemorrhage, edema, excoriation, erosion of skin tissues of NC/Nga mice resulting in the decrease of thickness of epidermis. Significant decrease of infiltration of obese cells was also observed. The results above indicated that both CYT and CYTBH had significant efficacy in the treatment of atopic dermatitis through immune modulation. Animal studies showed that CYTBH had superior activity than that of CYT suggesting further and continuous studies on the changes in ingredients or absorption improvement by fermentation should follow.
It is believed that geological survey, drilling and geophysical survey which was carried out on Tertiary deposits in Pohang is a valuable but through the studying of many Tertiary sediments in Japan discovered many questions on analysis of final report prepared by National geological survey. The main reason is: 1. The seismic sound velocity which have regulated in the final report prepared by geological survey for Tertiary deposits in Pohang was 1,500-2,000m/sec in spite of oil bearing sediments of same age in Japan are 2,000-3,800m/sec. These may means the requirement of reconsideration of seismic velocity for Tertiary deposits in Pohang and required to have a dipper drilling. 2. Stratigraphically, geophysically, and paleontologically, the Tertiary deposits in Pahang land area is similar with that of Nishiyama-Hunakawa formations of Akita oil field in Japan. Nishiyama-Hunakawa formation is the main oil bearing formation in Japan. 3. Those valcanic rock including andestitic rock and liparitic rock which have extensively distributed over either at land area or at sea bottom, assumed by geological survey as the base of Tertiary sediments. But in case of Japan many oil bearing deposits are in over laid by these kind of volcanic rock. Therefore a possible of same condition with Japan is presumable on Tertiary sediments in Pohang. 4. It is believed that the Tertiary sediments of land area in Pohang is the extension of offshore basin but is wandering that the final report submitted by geologic survey have not remain any word on report of ECAFE discribed so much problematics as followed: A. Although it was assumed that no great thickness exceeding 1,000 meters, or major structures would be encountered in the Tertiary offshore sequence, it was hoped that shallow hydrocarbon deposits might be found, because these sediment are lithologically similar to those of the same age in the producing area of the northwest Honshu region of Japan where hydrocarbon are extracted from depths of only 500 to 600 meters. B. Four possible hydrocarbon trap conditions are represented in the survey area: anticlinal folds, faults, pinch outs, along the igneous basement and lateral facies changes. C. Most of the prime possible reservoir area are beyond the 50 meter water depth mark, except for the structures in Yonil Bay. D. Despite the shallowness of the offshore basin, sufficient trap condition exist in the area to warrant further exploration for hydrocarbon. 5. All of the problems mentioned above have gave us a strong reasons to have us hesitating to make a final conclusion on Tertiary problems in Pohang, before to have a drill to a depth to 3,000 meters or more whatever it is the Tertiary or a Mesozoics below 1,000 meters.
This study was conducted in to elucidate the changes of growth characteristics and photosynthesis in three soybean (Glycine max L. cv. Danwonkong, Hwangkeumkong and Kwangankong) 30 day old seedlings to 100mM NaCl concentration containing 1/2 Hoagland's nutrient solution in sand culture. The main stem height and number of main stem node were decreased. thus, leaf area and dry matter were decreased with 100mM NaCl. Growth reduction was less little in Hwangkeumkong than other cultivars. The stem growth rate was affected less than other parts as root or leaf, by NaCl treatment. The specific leaf area (SLA), shoot : root ratio and leaf : root ratio decreased with NaCl solution except for those of Hwangkeumkong. There is no general tendency in leaf thickness by leaf position of three cultivars. The chlorophyll content (SPAD) of the primary and 2nd leaf slightly decreased under NaCl solution but rapidly increased in non-NaCl solution at 15 days after treatments. The photosynthesis, stomatal conductance and transpiration of 2nd leaf positions reduced by NaCl and there were a sigificant correlation between photosynthesis and stomatal conductance or transpiration.
As sprout vegetables of interest growing, its maintaining the quality of the technology was needed to solve the problem of increasing growth and maintain quality after harvest. This experiment proved that the quality of radish sprout vegetable was affected by CO2 treatment during cultivation. Thus, the effect of CO2 treatment during cultivation on postharvest quality of radish sprout vegetable was investigated in terms of the quality changes in weight loss, gas partial pressure, SPAD, hue angle external appearance during storage at polypropylene film (thickness 30 ㎛) at 10℃. CO2 treatment used the way to gas with 700 ppm or carbonated water with 700 ppm and 1,400 ppm. The study revealed that growths on CO2 treated plant were more than those of non-treatment on stem length. After harvesting, the CO2 treated plant and control growing little different characteristics on fresh weight, plant length and so on. However, there were no differences between the CO2 treated plant and control on the Fv/Fm and SOD (superoxide dismutase). In gas partial pressure, the O2 consumption and CO2 accumulation of the CO2 treated plant tended to be more than that of non-treated plant. This study also checked that after packaging, the effects of CO2 treatment during cultivation on the quality of radish sprout vegetable was not significant. However, there were tended to CO2 treatments were lower value compared to control on SPAD, hue angle and general appearance. CO2 treatments of radish sprouting vegetable before harvest were improve growth of stem length, but ones were not improving the maintain of quality on radish sprout vegetable during shelf-life period. The results indicated that CO2 treatment only affected stem elongation until radish sprout vegetable its growth.

This study was focused to make a wooden plate that is engraved with writings or pictures on the medium density fiberboard (MDF), and then to produce a calligraphy-carving artwork by carbonization of the carved MDF. The external appearances and anatomical changes were investigated on the carbonized MDF and aesthetic characteristics was also discussed. No split and no twist were found after the carbonization (at $850^{\circ}C$) of the calligraphy-encarved MDF, shrinkages of the MDF were observed with portions of 21.8% in length, 18.8% in width and 43.5% in thickness, and 69.2% of weight loss with density decrease of 14.8% were observed as well. From the observation of the carbonized board by a scanning electron microscope, specific phenomena were found: the adhesives, surrounding the fiber's surface and pits, were carbonized, the woody fibers were changed smoothly, the pits were opened, the fiber' size was uniformized, and the organization was compacted. By the combination of handmade calligraphy-woodcarving and crack-free carbonizing methods, it was able to find a new method for manufacture carbonized calligraphy-woodcarving artwork. It is concluded that the calligraphy-woodcarving artwork using carbonized board can be a new access for the eco-friendly art that has the advantage of the functionality of charcoal and the aesthetic of calligraphy-woodcarving simultaneously.
Even though a lot of advanced researches on analysis, design, and performance evaluation of reinforced concrete (RC) under seismic action have been carried out, there has been only a few study on seismic analysis of underground RC structures surrounding soil medium. Since the underground RC structures interact with surrounding soil medium, a path-dependent soil model which can predict the soil response is necessary for analyzing behavior of the structure inside soil medium. The behavior of interfacial zone between the RC structure and the surrounding medium should be also considered for more accurate seismic analysis of the RC structure. In this paper, an averaged constitutive model of concrete and reinforcing bars for RC structure and path-dependent Ohsaki's model for soil are applied, and an elasto-plastic interface model having thickness is proposed for seismic analysis of underground RC structures. A finite element analysis technique is developed by applying aforementioned constitutive equations and is verified by predicting both static and dynamic behaviors of RC structures. Then, failure mechanisms of underground RC structure under seismic action are numerically derived through seismic analysis of underground RC station structure under different seismic forces. Finally, the changes of failure mode and the damage level of the structures are also analytically derived for different design cases of underground RC structures.
The purpose of this investigation was to determine the surface characteristics and the fittness of the resilienct denture lines. Firstly, 50 samples ($2.0{\times}4.0{\times}0.3cm$) of 4 resilient lining materials (Molloplast B, Coe Super Soft, Mollosil, Coe Soft) and one conventional acrylic resin (K-33) were processed according to manufacture's direction and examined the surface characteristics by use of surface profilometer and scanning electron microscopy. Secondly, 50 identical maxillary casts were made and 50 denture bases were pro cessed of 4 resilient liners and one conventional acrylic resin and they were stored in the room temperature water bath of 1 day, 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 4 weeks and 6 weeks after processing. The original casts were cut away 1 cm from the posterior border, the dentures were seated, and the existing space was measured at seven regions according to the storage time by use of the modified thickness guage. The results were as follows. 1. Surface roughness (Rz) were $4.00{\pm}1.60{\mu}m$ in Mollosil, $4.47{\pm}2.21{\mu}m$ in Molloplast B, $7.46{\pm}1.70{\mu}m$ in Coe Super Soft, $12.70{\pm}2.39{\mu}m$ in Coe Soft and $13.03{\pm}2.74{\mu}m$ in K-33. 2. The generation of porosity was far more active in cold-cured resilient liners (Coe Soft and Mollosil) than in heat cured resilient liners (Molloplast B, and Coe Super Soft) and conventional heat cured resin (K-33). 3. Denture bases showed the greatest discrepancy at the central portion of the posterior palatal border and the intimate contact in the buccal flange regardless of denture base materials. 4. When the denture bases were stored in the water for 1 day and 6 weeks after processing, the sum of average discrepancies in the seven regions of the denture base was the greatest in K-33 followed by Molloplast B, Mollosil, Coe Soft and Coe Super Soft but followed by Coe Soft, Molloplast B, Mollosil, Coe Super Soft in that order respectively. 5. There was not a significant difference (p>0.05) in Coe Super Soft, K-33 but there was a significant difference (P<0.01) in Molloplast B, Mollosil, Coe Soft at the amount of dimensional changes according to the storage time.
