  • Although ISO 25964-2 was introduced in 2013, existing research about it that can be used for analysis and basis for its application is scarce. This study analyzed the interoperability of vocabularies emphasized in ISO 25964-2. First, this study examined the mapping types of the concept sharing method. In addition, based on the mapping types, this study sought for and examined the interoperability method between a thesaurus and ontology. Lastly, this study has suggested a thesaurus and ontology interoperability model and designed and constructed an ontology model for administrative department names in Korea to verify the possible of the model.

  • The thesaurus can control the headings in a classification scheme and can serve as an index of the classification scheme itself. In records management, the thesaurus controls functional terms and expands the access point of search to complement the functional classification scheme. In recent years, ISO 25964, the international standard for thesaurus construction, has been revised because of changes in the information environment and the development of thesaurus construction and utilization systems. Part 1 of ISO 15489, the international standard for overall records management, was also amended in 2016. In addition, the Integrated Public Sector Vocabulary (IPSV) in the UK, EuroVoc in Europe, and Functions of New Zealand (FONZ) in New Zealand have been effectively building and linking thesauri to reflect recent trends. In this study, we propose a thesaurus construction guideline for systematic record management in terms of related standards and cases, and suggest an improvement plan for the thesaurus construction guideline in Korea.

  • Traditionally, the construction industry field is one of the typical fields using facet analysis method. Internationally the facet analysis method is applied to the classification scheme "Uniclass" or thesaurus "Construction Industry Thesaurus(CIT)". In the case of Korea, the facet analysis method is being used in classification scheme "Construction Industry Classification System" but it is difficult to find studies on facet analysis method in thesaurus or building case study. This study aims to establish facet types by introducing building of thesaurus for information retrieval in construction field using facet analysis method and to suggest building plan of thesaurus in construction field using facet analysis method. In this paper, We establish the 11 top facets(agent/patient, artifacts, abstract, material, parts/component, works, attribute, media, process, space, time) and the 13 subfacet as rudimental facets and suggest building plan according to thesaurus building procedure which is suggested by International Standard(ISO 25964-1). The result of this study is expected to apply to facet based thesaurus. And it is also expected to reuse in Taxonomy or Ontology etc. and to use in interoperability with the classification scheme of Construction filed.

  • Thesaurus, a well-known form of controlled vocabulary, has been widely used for indexing and searching of information during the last 50 years. There also have been developments of international and national standards to provide guidelines for developing thesaurus in diverse subject areas. In recent years, the revisions of thesaurus-related standards have been made. Among them are ISO 25964 and BS 8723. This article examines the current status of revision of these standards, and discusses its implications. Based on this examination, it suggests functional requirements of thesaurus in the present information environment, and also proposes elements needed for the development of these functions.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a metadata AP for managing the person and organization name authority data in the National Debt Redemption Movement Digital Archive, a small-scale digital archive. The design principles and core metadata elements were derived by analyzing person/organization(group or corporateBody) metadata standards, implementation practices, and guidelines of libraries and archives, and mapped to the National Debt Redemption Movement person/organization name thesaurus data and the Wikidata Linked Metadata Model, resulting in 10 elements in the identification area, 14 elements in the content area, 8 elements in the relationship area, and 4 elements in the control area. A simple structure schema was applied so that it can be applied even in small organizations, and for interoperability, the schema was proposed with reference to DublinCore and SKOS schemes, and the applicability was confirmed based on actual data. The results of this study can be utilized as a basis for institutions that recognize the importance of data management but have difficulty in applying it in practice, when they want to prepare a system for managing their own authority data.
