  • $Cu^{II}$-complexes of N-salicylideneaniline and its derivatives were not light sensitive in most solvents such as acetonitrile. A photo-decomposition occurred upon irradiation in halocarbon solvents such as $CHCl_3$. It has been suggested that such photoreactivity is attributed to the reactivity of charge-transfer to solvent (CTTS) excited state attained upon irradiation. A mechanism has been proposed to account for the results obtained. The complexes have been thermally analysed in nitrogen and static air using thermogravimetry (TG) and derivative thermogravimetry (DTG). The thermal degradation of the complexes proceeds in two or three stages. The kinetic parameters obtained from the Coats-Redfern and Horowitz-Metzger equations show the kinetic compensation effect.

  • The non-isothermal and isothermal pyrolysis properties of H lignin and P lignin extracted from different biorefinery processes (such as supercritical water hydrolysis and fast pyrolysis) were studied using thermogravimetry analysis (TGA) and pyrolyzer-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (Py-GC/MS). The lignins were characterized by ultimate/proximate analysis, FT-IR and GPC. Based on the thermogravimetry (TG) and derivative thermogravimetry (DTG) curves, the thermal decomposition stages were obtained and the pyrolysis products were analyzed at each thermal decomposition stage of non-isothermal pyrolysis. The isothermal pyrolysis of lignins was also carried out at 400, 500, and $600^{\circ}C$ to investigate the pyrolysis product distribution at each temperature. In non-isothermal pyrolysis, P lignin recovered from a fast pyrolysis process started to decompose and produced pyrolysis products at a lower temperature than H lignin recovered from a supercritical water hydrolysis process. In isothermal pyrolysis, guaiacyl and syringyl type were the major pyrolysis products at every temperature, while the amounts of p-hydroxyphenyl type and aromatic hydrocarbons increased with the pyrolysis temperature.

  • We have measured changes of the non-stoichiometry, $\Delta\delta$, in Fe-doped nicked oxide , by thermogravimetry for four iron fractions, x=0.01, 0.031, 0.057 and 0.10, and three temperatures, T=1273, 1373 and 1473 K. The obtained data can be modelled by a defect structure in which substitutional trivalent iron ions, FeNi, are compensated by cation vacancies, $V_{Ni}$", and (4:1)-clusters. These clusters consist of tetravalent interstitial iron, $Fe_i\;^4$

  • The radiation degradation of five insulating materials such as silicone rubber, ethylene-propylene rubber polybutylene terephthalte, poly carbonate, nylon 66 were evaluated by using thermogravimetry analysis (TGA) and tensile properties as a function of radiation doses. The results of temperature at 5% weight loss and activation energy from TGA showed linearly decreasing and increasing tendency as radiation doses comparing with tensile properties. Consequently, the assessment of TGA for the radiation degradation of materials was effective.

  • Four of non- isothermal methods evaluating kinetics have been studied by using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetry (TG) and applied for kinetics of the thermal decomposition of cellulose. It is concluded that the heating evolution methods with DSC and approximative methods with TC can lead to satisfactory kinetic analysis. Results calculating the reacting order and the activation energy of cellulose decomposition were 1/2 order and 42kcaB/mol, respectively.

  • In order to investigate the dehydriding properties of the $Mg_2NiH_x$ formed by hydrogen induced mechanical alloying, we performed isothermal thermogravimetry analysis at 453, 463, 473, 483, 493, 503 and 513K for 1 hours. Dehydrogenation kinetics were dependant strongly on the MA conditions which determine the In other words, kinds of synthesized hydrides phases and the crystal microstructures. The MA condition, 66:1 BCR(balls to chips mass ratio), especially 96h milling time, revealed the hydride phases of nano-/ amorphous state and the dehydriding activation energy of $43.4{\pm}3.6kJ/mole$.

  • The Polyimide thin films based on PMDA and 4,$4^{\circ}$'-DDE were fabricated by VDPM, and their heat resistance characteristics were invastigated by TGA(Thermogravimetry Analyzer). It was found that deposition rate decreased with increasing substrate temperature and the thin films were not fabricated over the substrate temperature of $70^{\circ}$. $T_{TG}$ of weight loss temperature is $565^{\circ}$, $397^{\circ}$ and $210^{\circ}$ at the substrate temperature of $20^{\circ}$, $40^{\circ}$ and $70^{\circ}$, respectively. It is realized that the endurace temperature for 20,000 hour of thin films fabricated at $20^{\circ}$ and $40^{\circ}$ is $230^{\circ}$ and $200^{\circ}$, respectively.
