Objective: Although thermal ablation is effective in treating low-risk papillary thyroid microcarcinomas (PTMCs), comparison of treatment outcomes between thermal ablation and surgery has not yet been systematically evaluated. This study aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of thermal ablation and surgery for the treatment of low-risk PTMCs. Materials and Methods: Ovid-MEDLINE and EMBASE databases were searched for studies reporting comparisons of treatment results between thermal ablation and surgery for patients with low-risk PTMC published up to April 6, 2020. The analysis evaluated the efficacy (local tumor recurrence, occurrence of new tumor, metastasis, and rescue surgery) and safety (complication rate) of thermal ablation and surgery. Results: This systematic review included four studies with a total of 339 PTMCs in 339 patients who underwent thermal ablation and 320 PTMCs in 314 patients who underwent surgery. There was no local tumor recurrence or distant metastasis in either group. There was no significant difference in the pooled proportion of lymph node metastasis (2.6% with thermal ablation vs. 3.3% with surgery, p = 0.65), occurrence of new tumors (1.4% with thermal ablation vs. 1.3% with surgery, p = 0.85), or rescue surgery (2.6% with thermal ablation vs. 1.6% with surgery, p = 0.62). However, the pooled complication rate was significantly higher in the surgery group than in the ablation group (3.3% with thermal ablation vs. 7.8% with surgery, p = 0.03). Conclusion: Both thermal ablation and surgery are effective and safe options for the management of low-risk PTMCs, with thermal ablation achieving a lower complication rate. Therefore, thermal ablation may be considered as an alternative treatment option for low-risk PTMC in patients who refuse surgery and active surveillance or are ineligible for surgery.

Ventilation equipment performs a central role to maintain comfort subway environment. So ventilation equipment of Busan subway line No.1 is required to improve thermal environment. In this study, conditions of thermal environment are presented to improve ventilation equipment at existing subway station platforms by measuring thermal environment of platforms operated ventilation equipment at 14 stations of Busan subway line No.1. AWS of data in comparison with the neighbouring platforms and thermal environment analysis. Thermal environment status of subway platform analysis results are as follows. 1)Daytime platform temperature was higher than outdoor temperature, but night time platform temperature was lower than outdoor temperature. 2)Train wind had effect on improving thermal comfort in platform. 3)When outdoor temperature is below $24^{\circ}C$, inlet air is able to lower than platform temperature. 4)Considering existing ventilation system, night purge systems is useful to improving platform thermal environment.
The characteristics of the catalytically supported thermal combustion with Pd-based catalyst using the bench scale high pressure combustor has been investigated up to 7 atm. The emission of $NO_{\chi}$ depends on the preheating temperature and the excess air ratio. Most $NO_{\chi}$ emission seems to come from the pre-burner for the preheating of the inlet gas. Decreasing excess air ratio in the inlet gas below 1.5 results in the stable catalytically supported thermal combustion in the post combustion region while the $NO_{\chi}$ emission increased up to 15 ppm. Further, the increase of the pressure shows the dramatic increase of the emission CO and THC. However, the $NO_{\chi}$ emission decreased slightly due to the lower combustion temperature at the high pressure.

An investigation was carried out to determine experimentally the thermal conductivities of non-Newtonian fluids in a shear field. Both time independent purely viscous and viscoelastic fluids were considered. A coaxial cylinder apparatus with a rotating outer cylinder was used to establish the velocity field in the test fluid. First, the thermal conductivity of distilled water measured to validate the instrument. The experimental water data agreed within 1% of literature values and there was no effect of outer cylinder rotation (shear field). However, for non-Newtonian fluids such as aqueous CMC and Separan solutions, there were significant increases in thermal conductivities of up to 70% for CMC and 50% for Separan depending on the shear rate, polymer concentration and temperature. Considering the shear rate dependent thermal conductivity in the study of heat transfer in non-Newtonian fluids could be important. As in natural convection, the momentum and energy equations could no longer be solved separately but would have to be solved simultaneously.

The correlation between crack propagation and localized recrystallization are compared in a series of cross section analyses on thermal cycled edgebond and underfilm material applied wafer level chip scale package (WLCSP) components with a baseline of no-material applied WLCSP components. The results show that the crack propagation distribution and recrystallization region correlation can explain potential degradation mechanisms and support the damage accumulation history in a more efficient way. Edgebond material applied components show a shift of damage accumulation to a more localized region, thus potentially accelerated the degradation during thermal cycling. Underfilm material applied components triggered more solder joints for a more wider distribution of damage accumulation resulting in a slightly improved thermal cycling performance compared to no-material applied components. Using an analysis on localized distribution of recrystallized areas inside the solder joint showed potential value as a new analytical approach.

Effectiveness of some natural antioxidants were investigated by measuring the physico-chemical charcteristics and fatty acid composition during thermal oxidation in palm oil. Tocopherol showed most enhanced thermal oxidation stabilities compared to the other natural antioxidants. AR spice was no good AOM stability and changes of acid value but the other parameters were obtained desirable results. The changes of linoleic aicd content was slightly decreased during thermal oxidation. Addition of rosemary and glycyrriza extract increased the stabilities of oil less than tocopherol and AR spice. Order of antioxdative effects was tocopherol, AR spice and others. There was no significiant difference in stability of rosemary and glycyrriza extract.

The aim in this study is to develop the combined EGR system with a non-thermal plasma reactor for reducing exhaust emissions and improving fuel economy in turbo intercooler ECU common-rail diesel engines. At the first step, in this paper, the characteristics of performance and $NO_x{\cdot}THC$ emissions under four kinds of engine loads are experimentally investigated by using a four-cycle, four-cylinder, direct injection type, water-cooled turbo intercooler ECU common-rail diesel engine with a combined plasma exhaust gas recirculation(EGR) system operating at three kinds of engine speeds. The EGR system is used to reduce $NO_x$ emissions, and the non-thermal plasma reactor and turbo intercooler system are used to reduce THC emissions. The plasma system is a flat-to-flat type reactor operated by a plasma power supply. The fuel is sprayed by pilot and main injections at the variable injection timing between BTDC $15^{\circ}$ and ATDC $1^{\circ}$ according to experimental conditions. It is found that the specific fuel consumption rate with EGR is increased, but the fuel economy is better than that of mechanical injection type diesel engine as compared with the same output. Results show that $NO_x$ emissions are decreased, but THC emissions are increased, as the EGR rate is elevated. $NO_x$ and THC emissions are also slightly decreased as the applied electrical voltage of the non-thermal plasma reactor is elevated. Thus one can conclude that the influence of EGR in $NO_x$ and THC emissions is larger than that of the non-thermal plasma reactor, but THC emissions are greatly influenced by the non-thermal plasma reactor as the EGR rate is elevated.

Graphene is known to possess excellent thermal properties, including high thermal conductivity, that make it a prime candidate material for heat management in ultra large scale integrated circuits. For device applications, the key parameters are the thermal expansion coefficient and the thermal conductivity. There has been no reliable experimental determination on the thermal expansion coefficient of graphene whereas the estimates of the thermal conductivity vary widely. In this work, we estimate the thermal expansion coefficient of graphene on silicon dioxide by measuring the temperature dependence of the Raman spectrum. The shift of the Raman peaks due to heating or cooling results from both the intrinsic temperature dependence of the Raman spectrum of graphene and the strain on the graphene film due to the thermal expansion mismatch with silicon dioxide. By carefully comparing the experimental data against theoretical calculations, it is possible to determine the thermal expansion coefficient. The thermal conductivity is measured by estimating the thermal profile of a graphene film suspended over a circular hole of the substrate.
This experimental study has been mainly motivated to obtain generally applicable design correlation for the front mixing premix combustor. The design concept of the front mixing premix combustor is to minimize thermal $NO_x$ and prompt $NO_x$ formation by maintaining low peak flame temperature, and nearly uniform flame temperature through rapid mixing process near the ignition point. The present experimental results clearly indicate that the front mixing premix combustor yields the $NO_x$ level lower than 43 ppm $NO_x$ emissions and the nearly uniform temperature distribution.

Basic characteristics of non-thermal plasma process to remove C2H4 and NO have been experimentally investigated with a packed-bed type reactor and an ac power supply. The performance of the non-thermal plasma generated by ac power supply was compared with that of a wire-plate type reactor equipped with a pulsed power supply. The result shows that the non-thermal plasma can be effectively generated with an AC power supply that can be easily fabricated with conventional techniques. In order to understand the basic reaction mechanisms of the non-thermal plasma process, parametric tests for different carrier gases(air and nitrogen) and for different reaction pathways have been performed. The test results show that O3 generated by non-thermal plasma plays an dominant role to oxidize C2H4 and NO over N and O radicals when these pollutant gases are carried by dry air under room temperature condition. Experimental observations, however, indicate that N and O radicals can significantly affect on the removal process of the pollutant gases under certain conditions.
