  • The main aims of this study are to develop a new nonlocal quasi-3D theory for the free vibration behaviors of the functionally graded sandwich nanobeams. The sandwich beams consist of a ceramic core and two functionally graded material layers resting on elastic foundations. The two layers, linear spring stiffness and shear layer, are used to model the effects of the elastic foundations. The size-effect is considered using nonlocal elasticity theory. The governing equations of the motion of the functionally graded sandwich nanobeams are obtained via Hamilton's principle in combination with nonlocal elasticity theory. Then the Navier's solution technique is used to solve the governing equations of the motion to achieve the nonlocal free vibration behaviors of the nanobeams. A deep parametric study is also provided to demonstrate the effects of some parameters, such as length-to-height ratio, power-law index, nonlocal parameter, and two parameters of the elastic foundation, on the free vibration behaviors of the functionally graded sandwich nanobeams.

  • In this paper, the thermo-mechanical vibration characteristics of functionally graded (FG) nanobeams subjected to three types of thermal loading including uniform, linear and non-linear temperature change are investigated in the framework of third-order shear deformation beam theory which captures both the microstructural and shear deformation effects without the need for any shear correction factors. Material properties of FG nanobeam are assumed to be temperature-dependent and vary gradually along the thickness according to the power-law form. Hence, applying a third-order shear deformation beam theory (TSDBT) with more rigorous kinetics of displacements to anticipate the behaviors of FG nanobeams is more appropriate than using other theories. The small scale effect is taken into consideration based on nonlocal elasticity theory of Eringen. The nonlocal equations of motion are derived through Hamilton's principle and they are solved applying analytical solution. The obtained results are compared with those predicted by the nonlocal Euler-Bernoulli beam theory and nonlocal Timoshenko beam theory and it is revealed that the proposed modeling can accurately predict the vibration responses of FG nanobeams. The obtained results are presented for the thermo-mechanical vibration analysis of the FG nanobeams such as the effects of material graduation, nonlocal parameter, mode number, slenderness ratio and thermal loading in detail. The present study is associated to aerospace, mechanical and nuclear engineering structures which are under thermal loads.

  • In this paper, a new size-dependent quasi-3D plate theory is presented for wave dispersion analysis of functionally graded nanoplates while resting on an elastic foundation and under the hygrothermaal environment. This quasi-3D plate theory considers both thickness stretching influences and shear deformation with the variations of displacements in the thickness direction as a parabolic function. Moreover, the stress-free boundary conditions on both sides of the plate are satisfied without using a shear correction factor. This theory includes five independent unknowns with results in only five governing equations. Size effects are obtained via a higher-order nonlocal strain gradient theory of elasticity. A variational approach is adopted to owning the governing equations employing Hamilton's principle. Solving analytically via Fourier series, these equations gives wave frequencies and phase velocities as a function of wave numbers. The validity of the present results is examined by comparing them with those of the known data in the literature. Parametric studies are conducted for material composition, size dependency, two parametric elastic foundation, temperature and moisture differences, and wave number. Some conclusions are drawn from the parametric studies with respect to the wave characteristics.

  • In this paper, free vibration characteristics of functionally graded (FG) nanobeams embedded on elastic medium are investigated based on third order shear deformation (Reddy) beam theory by presenting a Navier type solution for the first time. The material properties of FG nanobeam are assumed to vary gradually along the thickness and are estimated through the power-law and Mori-Tanaka models. A two parameters elastic foundation including the linear Winkler springs along with the Pasternak shear layer is in contact with beam. The small scale effect is taken into consideration based on nonlocal elasticity theory of Eringen. The nonlocal equations of motion are derived based on third order shear deformation beam theory through Hamilton's principle and they are solved applying analytical solution. According to the numerical results, it is revealed that the proposed modeling can provide accurate frequency results of the FG nanobeams as compared to some cases in the literature. The obtained results are presented for the vibration analysis of the FG nanobeams such as the influences of foundation parameters, gradient index, nonlocal parameter and slenderness ratio in detail.

  • In this article the frequency response of magneto-flexo-electric rotary porous (MFERP) nanobeams subjected to thermal loads has been investigated through nonlocal strain gradient elasticity theory. A quasi-3D beam model beam theory is used for the expositions of the displacement components. With the aid of Hamilton's principle, the governing equations of MFERP nanobeams are obtained. Further, administrating an analytical solution the frequency problem of MFERP nanobeams are solved. In addition the numerical examples are also provided to evaluate the effect of nonlocal strain gradient parameter, hygro thermo environment, flexoelectric effect, in-plane magnet field, volume fraction of porosity and angular velocity on the dimensionless eigen frequency.

  • The present paper attempts to investigate the propagation of plane waves in an isotropic elastic medium under the effect of initial stress and temperature-dependent properties. The modulus of elasticity is taken as a linear function of the reference temperature. The formulation is applied under the thermoelasticity theory with dual-phase-lag; the normal mode analysis is used to obtain the expressions for the displacement components, the temperature, the stress, and the strain components. Numerical results for the field quantities are given in the physical domain and illustrated graphically. Comparisons are made with the results predicted by different theories (Lord-Shulman theory, the classical coupled theory of thermoelasticity and the dual-phase-lag model) in the absence and presence of the initial stress as well as the case where the modulus of elasticity is independent of temperature.

  • In this research, the size-dependent impact of an embedded piezoelectric nanoplate subjected to in-plane loading on free vibration characteristic is studied. The foundation is two-parameter viscoelastic. The nonlocal elasticity is employed in order to capture the influence of size of the plate. By utilizing Hamilton's principle as well as the first- order shear deformation theory, the governing equation and boundary conditions are achieved. Then, using Navier method the equations associated with the free vibration of a plate constructed piezoelectric material under in-plane loads are solved analytically. The presented formulation and solution procedure are validated using other papers. Also, the impacts of nonlocal parameter, mode number, constant of spring, electric potential, and geometry of the nanoplate on the vibrational frequency are examined. As this paper is the first research in which the vibration associated with piezoelectric nanoplate on the basis of FSDT and nonlocal elasticity is investigated analytically, this results can be used in future investigation in this area.

  • The content of this study focuses on bending of flexoelectric Magneto-Electro-Elastic (MEE) nanobeams inserted within the foundation of Winkler-Pasternak according to nonlocal elasticity theory. Applying Hamilton's principle, the nonlocal nanobeams' governing equations in the framework higher order refined beam theory are attained and resolved through adapting an analytical solution. A parametric research is demonstrated for studying the effects that magneto-electro-mechanical loadings, the nonlocal parameter, flexoelectric, as well as the aspect ratio all have on the deflection properties of nanobeams. A discovery lead to beam geometrical parameters, the boundary conditions, flexoelectricity and nonlocal parameter partake substantial effects on nanoscale beams' dimensionless deflection.

  • This paper investigated bending of magneto-electro-elastic (MEE) nanobeams under hygro-thermal loading embedded in Winkler-Pasternak foundation based on nonlocal elasticity theory. The governing equations of nonlocal nanobeams in the framework parabolic third order beam theory are obtained using Hamilton's principle and solved implementing an analytical solution. A parametric study is presented to examine the effect of the nonlocal parameter, hygro-thermal-loadings, magneto-electro-mechanical loadings and aspect ratio on the deflection characteristics of nanobeams. It is found that boundary conditions, nonlocal parameter and beam geometrical parameters have significant effects on dimensionless deflection of nanoscale beams.
