In this paper, a new end-milling force modelling technique was suggested by considering runout, and its result was compared with real measured force. The specific cutting force is the multiplication of cutting force coefficient and uncut chip thickness. This parameter was used for experimental modelling and prediction of theoretical force. These coefficients, which can be obtained by fitting measured average forces in several conditions, were used for the formulation of theoretical force. The mechanism of end-milling force with runout was developed in this research and its result was verified by comparing the fluctuating theoretical force and its measured one. The fluctuation of force was incurred by a geometric shape of workpiece and its runout in holding. The result of suggested force considering runout shows a good consistency with measured one. So this modelling method can be used effectively for a prediction of end-milling force with runout effect.

Few studies have been conducted regarding theoretical turning force modelling while considering cutting constant. In this paper, a new cutting force modelling technique was suggested which considers the specific cutting force coefficients for turning. The specific cutting force is the multiplication of the cutting force coefficient and uncut chip thickness. This parameter was used for experimental modelling and prediction of theoretical cutting force. These coefficients, which can be obtained by fitting measured average forces in several conditions, were used for the formulation of three theoretical cutting forces for turning. The cutting force mechanism was verified in this research and its results were compared with each of the experimental and theoretical forces. The deviation of force was incurred by a small amount in this model and the predicted force considering feed rate, nose radius, and radial depth shows a physical behavior in main force, normal force, and feeding force, respectively. Therefore, this modelling technique can be used to effectively predict three turning forces with different tool geometries considering cutting force coefficients.
The purpose of this study is to investigate concrete flaw using seismic first arrival and various inversion method. Seismic wave propagation was calculated using finite element method in theoretical modelling and tomogram was made using various inversion methods in theoretical and experimental modelling. Five steps of seismic first arrival were selected from FEM results and these data were used to calculate seismic velocity section. According to the results, exact seismic first arrival picking method was proposed and experimental modelling was conducted.
Super-lift dc-dc converters are a series of advanced step-up dc-dc topologies that provide high voltage transfer gains by super-lift techniques. This paper presents a developed graphical modelling method for super-lift converters and gives a thorough analysis with a consideration of the effects caused by parasitic parameters and diodes' forward voltage drop. The general guidelines for constructing and deriving graphical models are provided for system analysis. By applying it to examples, the proposed method shows the advantages of high convenience and feasibility. Both the circuit simulation and experimental results are given to support the theoretical analysis.
In this paper one introduces a method of multiscale modelling called collection of dynamical systems with dimensional reduction. The method is suggested to be an appropriate approach to theoretical modelling of phenomena in mechanics of materials having in mind especially dynamics of processes. Within this method one formalizes scale of averaging of processes during modelling. To this end a collection of dynamical systems is distinguished within an elementary dynamical system. One introduces a dimensional reduction procedure which is designed to be a method of transition between various scales. In order to consider continuum models as obtained by means of the dimensional reduction one introduces continuum with finite-dimensional fields. Owing to geometrical elements associated with the elementary dynamical system we can formalize scale of averaging within continuum mechanics approach. In general presented here approach is viewed as a continuation of the rational mechanics.
Modelling for performance prediction of mechanical excavation is discussed in this paper. Two of the most successful performance prediction models, namely theoretical based CSM model and empirical based NTH model, are discussed and compared. The basic principles of rock cutting with disc cutters, especially Constant Cross Section cutters, are discussed and a theoretical model developed is introduced to provide an estimate of disc cutting forces as a function of rock properties and the cutting geometry. General modelling logic for the performance prediction of mechanical excavation is introduced. CSM computer model developed and currently used at the Earth Mechanics Institute(EMI) of the Colorado School of Mines is discussed. Example of input and output of this model is illustrated for the typical operation by Tunnel Boring Machine(TBM).
A theoretical investigation of the origin of the spontaneous firing in the squid axon was done with a mathmatical computer modelling based on the Hodgkin-Huxley equation. It is strongly believed that the existence of calcium ions in the membrane is essential to cause firing. The results of the computer simulation of the modelling indicate that the sites of calcium ions in the membrane might be near the potassium channel and the leakage channel plays an important role in the firing. The orientation of the future research project was suggested. And also, a theoretical investigation of the origin of the firing in the propagating action potential was done in the same way.
In this work, it has been predicted the thermal performance of the engine cooling system in cases of stationary mode, constant speed mode, city-drive mode, and hill-climb mode by theoretical modeling of each component and numerical analysis. The modelling components are engine, radiator, heater, thermostat, water-pump, and cooling-fan. And also it has been developed the simulation program that can be used in case of design and system configuration changes. The comparison has not been made to verify the results of this work with experimental data, but the overall tendencies were agreed well with those of actual situation in four modes.

The work aims at the comparison among commonly used research programs concerning moment-curvature ($M-{\chi}$) diagrams of confined R.C. members. The software considered in this work are Sap2000, SeismoStruct and Opensees. The curves provided by these software, given the same modelling, have been compared to those provided by a theoretical fiber model. A parametric analysis has been led on rectangular column sections with different level of axial load and different stirrups spacing. The accuracy of the modelling of the considered structural programs has been investigated by comparing their results with those obtained by applying the theoretical fiber model.
A theoretical energy-based model to capture the mechanical response of thick woven composite laminates, which are used in such applications as maritime or aerospace, to high-velocity impact was developed. The dependences of the impact phenomenon on material and geometrical parameters were analysed making use of the Vaschy-Buckingham Theorem to provide a non-dimensional framework. The model was divided in three different stages splitting the physical interpretation of the perforation process: a first where different dissipative mechanisms such as compression or shear plugging were considered, a second where a transference of linear momentum was assumed and a third where only friction took place. The model was validated against experimental data along with a 3D finite element model. The numerical simulations were used to validate some of the new hypotheses assumed in the theoretical model to provide a more accurate explanation of the phenomena taking place during a high-velocity impact.
