  • Microforming is a very efficient and economical technology to fabricate very small metallic parts in various applications. In order to extend the use of this forming technology for the production of microparts, the size effect, which occurs with the reduction of part size and affects the forming process significantly, must be thoroughly investigated. In this study, the tribological size effect in microforming was studied using modeling and scaled ring compression experiments. A micro-scale friction approach based on the slip-line field theory and lubricant pocket model was used to understand the friction mechanism and explain the tribological size effect. Ring compression tests were performed to analyze the interfacial friction condition from the deformation characteristics of the ring specimens. In addition, finite element analysis results were utilized to quantitatively determine the size-dependent frictional behavior of materials in various process conditions. By comparing theoretical results and experimental measurements for different size factors, the accuracy and reliability of the model were verified.

  • Mathematical modeling equations of a parallel plate type reactor were obtained in the PECVD process in preparing hydrogenated amorphous silicon. Velocity profiles, temperature profiles and concentration profiles in the reactor were calculated from the model. The theoretical approach was attempted to obtain the deposition rate and film uniformity at different operating conditions by calculating RF discharge parameters and establishing the reaction mechanisms of a-Si:H thin film. The modelling equations are solved by a finite difference method with control volume balance. The mean electrom energy in discharge was applied to model simulation parameter. The magnitudes of the predicted deposition rate are in good aggrement with those of experiment. The results of computer simulation shows that uniform deposition profiles can.

  • The Internet has motivated firms to participate in electronic commerce. With the development of electronic commerce, SMEs (small- and medium-sized enterprises) may be forced to use e-intermediaries in export marketing. This study aims at assessing e-intermediaries in various aspects. Empirical and theoretical studies are conducted to investigate determinants and effects of eintermediary use in export marketing. Based on resource-based view (RBV), the study develops a conceptual model that can address the question of which international competence and export performance are closely related to e-intermediary use by SMEs. Based on literature review and theoretical foundations, this study made four hypotheses. With AMOS, structural equation modeling (SEM) was used for testing four hypotheses. The empirical findings support all hypotheses. Last, this study suggests examining comprehensive internal and external factors in terms of e-intermediary use as an interesting topic for future research.

  • A systematic approach of measurement, modeling and analysis of grounding system impedance in the field of lightning protection systems is presented. The measurement and analysis of ground impedance are based on a computer aided technique. The magnitude and phase of ground impedance were measured and analyzed by the modified fall-of-potential method and the proposed computer program algerian using the waveforms of the test current and potential rise. The theoretical analysis of ground impedance were performed with the equivalent circuit models, and the theoretical results were compared with the measured data.

  • Integrated genomics refers to the use of large-scale, systematically collected data from various sources to address biological and biomedical problems. A critical ingredient to a successful research program in integrated genomics is the establishment of an effective computational infrastructure. In this review, we suggest that the computational infrastructure challenges include developing tools for heterogeneous data organization and access, innovating techniques for combining the results of different analyses, and establishing a theoretical framework for integrating biological and quantitative models. For each of the three areas - data integration, analyses integration, and model integration - we review some of the current progress and suggest new topics of research. We argue that the primary computational challenges lie in developing sound theoretical foundations for understanding the genome rather than simply the development of algorithms and programs.

  • The present research developed and empirically examined a theoretical model called a Mobile Channel Extension Model for consumer behavior toward mobile commerce. We proposed three antecedents: compatibility of, subjective norm regarding, and media influence regarding mobile use for communication purposes that influence the attitude toward the subjective norm and media influences of mobile use for shopping. These in turn positively influenced the consume's intention to use mobile devices for shopping. A Structural equation modeling analysis, using the data collected from a national online survey of 524 U. S. multichannel shoppers, confirmed the proposed model. The theoretical implications of these effects were discussed and managerial suggestions were made for both academicians and practitioners.

  • Using the spectroscopic analysis and the theoretical modeling, physical properties of the nearby astrometric binary $\mu$ Cas have been determined. In spite of the well-defined parallax and astrometric orbit, there has been a chronic mass ratio problem between components. Recently, the radius of the primary component has been detected from the optical interferometric observation of the CHARA array. Using the high resolution spectroscopic analysis, we found that $\mu$ Cas have $\alpha$-enhanced chemical composition with respect to the scaled solar abundance by a factor of two. Combining our abundance analysis with recently determined physical properties, the consistent models for $\mu$ Cas have been constructed within the frame work of standard stellar theory. Through a statistical minimization between theoretical model grids, a reliable set of physical dimensions has been defined. Furthermore, the mode oscillation frequency of the best model has been calculated.

  • This research investigates contact angle of Linear Guide Way through a experimental result and theoretical analysis. Since last ten years, most of researchers who concerned with the precision machinery and semiconductor device production etc. so the researches about Linear Guide Way have been unnoticed. The precision machinery and semiconductor device production system has the principle which transfers the mechanical moving to accuracy position control. The Linear Guide Way system has the principle which transfers mechanical moving to accuracy position control is very important to improve performance of the precision machinery and semiconductor device production system. So, In this research, in order to improvement for producing Linear Guide Way, bearing loading analysis and contact angle change through Linear Guide Way theoretical analysis and bearing modeling. Through this study, we may expect that there will be more improvement for producing Linear Guide Way.

  • In the 4th industrial age, electronic devices are becoming smaller and lighter with a low power consumption to overcome spatial limitation. The piezoelectric energy harvesters can convert mechanical kinetic energy into electric energy; thus, enabling the operation of small electronic devices. Recently, various piezoelectric harvesters have been reported and the electric output from these harvesters could be anticipated by theoretical analysis methods. For example, COMSOL Multiphysics software provides a theoretical simulation of piezoelectric effect with a combination of mechanical and electrical phenomena in the piezoelectric materials. This article introduces a brief modeling of piezoelectric harvester to investigate mechanical stress and electrical output of harvesting devices by the COMSOL Multiphysics software.

  • The work aims at the comparison among commonly used research programs concerning moment-curvature ($M-{\chi}$) diagrams of confined R.C. members. The software considered in this work are Sap2000, SeismoStruct and Opensees. The curves provided by these software, given the same modelling, have been compared to those provided by a theoretical fiber model. A parametric analysis has been led on rectangular column sections with different level of axial load and different stirrups spacing. The accuracy of the modelling of the considered structural programs has been investigated by comparing their results with those obtained by applying the theoretical fiber model.
