This study is to find physiological effects of acoustic information on landscape preference. Both the volume and the rate of $\alpha$-waves and $\beta$-waves were used to measure the effects in the study. The result of this study are summarized as follows: The outputting amount of $\alpha$-waves are sorted by different types of visual and acoustic factors. The results show that acoustic factors interacted with visual factors. That is, although visual factors are positive, the volume of $\alpha$-waves depends upon the character of acoustic factors; positive acoustic factors produce more $\alpha$-waves than negative or neutral(soundless) acoustic factors. Also the volume of $\alpha$-waves increase in the case of positive acoustic factors even if there is the same negative visual information. The results show that the volume of $\alpha$-waves increase without connecting with the types of visual factors. The volume of $\beta$-waves are largely reduced when visual stimulus is positive and soundless stimulus is provided. On the other hand, they generally increase when both visual and acoustic stimuli are negative, which fosters extremely unstable, tense and upset stress. The rate of $\alpha$-waves increase according to supplying positive acoustic factors in the opposed visual factors. The rate of wave(shouldn't be $\alpha$-waves\ulcorner) is high if both visual and acoustic factors are positive, so it is the most comfortable and causes no stress. Preference is the lowest if visual and acoustic factors are negative, but a -waves are conspicuously low in positive visual and negative acoustic factors.
When the extracorporeal shock wave lithotriptor is operated, sounds can be heard. Then that might be a question about the location where the sounds come from. For the purpose of investigating the fact, we identify the location of the sounds radiated using one hydrophone. In order to carry out the experiment, it is needed to obtain direct waves from objects. Therefore, we present an experimental method to reduce reflected waves for obtaining direct waves only. The experimental results show the amplitude of waves can be attenuated about 28dB due to a silicon rubber plate of 8.5mm attached at the bottom. This is a quantified result that can expect to obtain the direct waves using the proposed method. Then, we carried out the experiment for the sound source location. From the experimental results, we can undoubtedly present a fact that the sounds are radiated from the objects to be shot due to shock waves.
In this study, the frequency transfer function of motions are predicted from the result of a full-scale seakeeping trials. Because the real sea has the characteristics of multi-directional waves,we compare the results in the one directional waves with ones in the directional waves. For calculation of the frequency transfer function in the directional waves, Takezawa's inverse estimation method was introduced and the frequency ranges were divided into three parts in order to consider following seas. The full-scale seakeeping trials was executed in the south sea of Korea using the stern trawler. Those results show that analysis method of the multi-directional waves is more reliable than that of one directional waves, and confirm the possibility of applying this method to the full-scale seakeeping trials.
Stochastic stability criterias for ocean wave analysis add simulation are studied using the data simulated by the linear superposition method. To clarify the criterias, the effects of the simulation parameters on the variance of stochastic properties of ocean waves are investigated, and the stable conditions of the parameters are estimated through the comparative study on the stochastic properties of simulated waves and well-known ocean waves. The simulation parameters considered are high frequency cut-off, data length, and number and phase angle of component waves. Statistical characteristics analysed are wave height, period and steepness, and the formation of groups of higher waves, resonance periods, steeper higher waves and extreme run-length of the run.
Recently, methodologies for developing brain-computer interface (BCI) games using the BCI have been actively researched. The existing general framework for processing brain waves does not provide the functions required to develop BCI games. Thus, developing BCI games is difficult and requires a large amount of time. Effective BCI game development requires a BCI game framework. Therefore the BCI game framework should provide the functions to generate discrete values, events, and converted waves considering the difference between the brain waves of users and the BCIs of those. In this paper, BCI game frameworks for processing brain waves for BCI games are proposed. A variety of processes for converting brain waves to apply the measured brain waves to the games are also proposed. In an experiment the frameworks proposed were applied to a BCI game for visual perception training. Furthermore, it was verified that the time required for BCI game development was reduced when the framework proposed in the experiment was applied.

In this paper, a relationship between AC discharge progress and the radiated electromagnetic waves was investigated by measuring electromagnetic waves using a biconical antenna and a spectrum analyzer. The frequency spectrum of the radiated electromagnetic waves were measured at the atmospheric pressure in liquid nitrogen($LN_2$) during partial discharges progressed by AC high voltage in nonuniform electric field. Front the results of this study, a new method was introduced for measurement and analysis of the radiated electromagnetic waves with discharge progress in $LN_2$ Besides. according to the consideration of the mutual relation between frequency spectrum of the radiated electromagnetic waves and discharge progress, it was confirmed that detecting partial discharge and estimating discharge progress could be possible. It is considered that these results obtained from this investigation may be used as fundamental data for diagnosis and prediction of electric insulations about superconducting and cryogenic power equipments.

In this paper, stress wave propagation characteristics of MR(Magneto-rheological) inserts are experimentally investigated. Generally, stress waves of structures such as warships or submarines are induced by shock waves from underwater explosion. Their fatal effects on the shipboard equipments or structures damage the performance of warships. But, such a problem can be solved by controlling the stress waves propagating through structures by means of MR inserts. MR insert consists of two aluminum layers and MR fluid filled in between. Two piezoceramic disks are embedded on the host plate as a transmitter and a receiver of stress waves. Pulse waves are generated by the transmitter and they reach to the receiver through the MR insert. Permanent magnet and magnetic coil are used to produce magnetic field at the MR insert. In the presence of magnetic field, MR particles are arranged in chains parallel to the magnetic field such that the transmitted stress waves are reduced. Attenuation of stress waves is experimentally investigated.

The accurate calculation of run-up heights of long waves along the coastline is important in the view of engineering. In this paper the run-up heights of long waves are estimated by using the cnoidal wave theory which also covers both sinusoidal and solitary waves. However, the generation and the calculation of run-up heights of cnoidal waves are difficult both in laboratory and numerical experiments. In this study, the maximum run-up heights of cnoidal waves on steep slopes are computed by using the boundary integral equation model. It has been shown that the run-up heights of cnoidal waves are less than those of solitary waves, while they are larger than those of sinusoidal waves having the same wavelengths and heights. The variation of run-up heights of cnoidal waves is not a monotonic function of the wavelength. However, the run-up heights of cnoidal waves asymptotically approach that of a solitary wave as the wavelength approaches infinity. The calculated run-up heights agreed reasonably with experimental data.
Hydrographic data obtained from several ship experiments have shown that internal waves are frequently observed in the East (Japan) Sea, mostly in the continental slopes located along the western side of the East Sea. It is well known that oceanic internal waves can be detected well in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. Interactions between surface capillary-gravity waves and horizontally varying surface currents induced by internal waves produce variations in sea surface roughness which can be detected by SAR. C-band SAR images from ERS, ENVISAT ASAR and RADARSAT have been used to study the characteristics of internal waves in the East Sea. The observed properties of internal waves from many SAR images were compared and verified from in-situ measurements and theories.

Multi-objective optimization was conducted to obtain the optimal configuration of a composite sandwich structure with honeycomb-foam hybrid core subjected to underwater shock waves, which can fulfill the demand for light weight and energy efficient design of structures against underwater blast. Effects of structural parameters on the dynamic response of the sandwich structures subjected to underwater shock waves were analyzed numerically, from which the correlations of different parameters to the dynamic response were determined. Multi-objective optimization of the structure subjected to underwater shock waves of which the initial pressure is 30 MPa was conducted based on surrogate modelling method and genetic algorithm. Moreover, optimization results of the sandwich structure subjected to underwater shock waves with different initial pressures were compared. The research can guide the optimal design of composite sandwich structures subjected to underwater shock waves.
