The Measurement of Social Carrying Capacity on the Total Amount of Vehicles for Estimation of the Appropriate Number of Vehicles in U-do Island (적정입도차량대수 산정을 위한 자동차 총량제에 대한 사회적 수용력 측정)

  • The either satisfaction levels or limits of tolerance levels felt by the users in the certain space/region should be examined for measuring social capacity on the total amount of vehicles. The reliability of measuring social carrying capacity depends primarily on decreasing the strategic responding biases. To induce the honest responses to preferences, Dichotomous Choice which is specifically known as the Double-Bounded Dichotomous Choice was adopted in this research to suggest the measurement methodology of social carrying capacity on the total amount of vehicles in U-do island. The empirical test was carried out the U-do island, an administrative district of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. The number of vehicles satisfied by the 10% of residents was 390 and the satisfactory vehicle number was decreased to 132 extended to 90% of residents. This research, based on the political decision making criteria, set up the social carrying capacity in U-do island. The vehicle number satisfied by 50% of residents was 227, which meant the same number of residents turn to be supporter in case of political actions.

  • The People have a bad perception about diesel vehicle because of serious air pollution, increase fine dust and global vehicle company's diesel gate. Starting the project in 2005, Ministry of Environment has been supporting that is exhaust gas reduction devices (DPF) on diesel vehicles in the metropolitan area. During the period of 2017.01.01 to 2017.12.31, 10,030 diesel vehicles installed exhaust gas reduction devices (DPF). Among them, 9,921 diesel vehicles that they have sufficient data for analysis were analyzed amount of particulate matter reduction before and after exhaust gas reduction devices (DPF) was installed. Opacity smoke meter measures the concentration of particulate matter. So concentration of particulate matter was converted into a mass unit, and then calculated the total amount of reduced particulate matter. It was estimated that social benefits is costs required to remove it from the total amount of particulate matter.

The Monitoring and persistence on the Total Amount of Vehicles in U-do Island (제주특별자치도 우도 입도 차량총량제 정책 모니터링과 지속성 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the intent of the Total Amount of Vehicles policy that is enforced during the two summer season months (July and August) in U-do and the consequent problems after its implementation. We propose a basic direction for the policy to be sustainable. The average daily number of vehicles visiting was 645 in July 2015 and 953 in August 2015. As these numbers exceed the limit of 605, serious transportation problems such as traffic congestion and traffic accidents have occurred in U-do. We propose that the future direction of the policy is set forth as follows. First, mandatory reporting and the use of insurance, such as motorcycles, will have to be introduced along with measures to regulate violations. Second, a scheme needs to be introduced to enhance the total Amount of Vehicle policy and the number of inbound vehicles. Finally, public transportation cooperatives that are directly managed by local residents need to be established and an Eco-friendly vehicles dissemination policy introduced.

Studies of $VOC_s$ Emission Rate Calculation in the Kwang-ju Area (광주지역의 $VOC_s$ 배출량산정에 관한 연구)

  • This study was conducted from January to December in Kwang-ju city, 1999. Calculated methods were studied by emission factors in each industrial species. The results was that total emission rate of VOC was calculated at a mount of 12305 ton/year as coating(49.4) > vehicles(27.4) > gasoline vapors(6.1) > petroleum refineries(5.6) > graphic arts(4.4) > road covering(4.1) > dry cleang(3.0%) respectively. In vehicles emission rate, passenger car and taxi were about 2,700 ton/yr(60%) of total vehicle emission(3,300 ton/yr). The amount of building emission rate was about 1,900 ton/yr(30%) of total coating emission 6,083 ton/yr.

Review of Design Components of Recharging Infrastructure for Electrical Vehicles in Apartments (아파트에서의 전기자동차 충전인프라 설계를 위한 요소 고찰)

  • Electric vehicles (EVs) are the most promising alternative substitute to a significant amount of gasoline vehicles for climate friendly transportation. This paper conducted an EV consumer survey through the telephone for 200 residents living in apartments to predict the EV penetration level in the year 2020. The results of EV consumer survey revealed that EV will be penetrated to 10% of the total vehicles in rental apartments and to 23.6% of the total vehicles in apartments for sale(condominium) until 2020. High EV penetration level, however, will lead to an increase of power consumption and over loading of electrical installations. Integrating more electric vehicles, the capacity of transformer related in apartments should be checked to prevent the over loading of the transformer. This paper checked the possibility of over loading at transformer and suggested the load control system as one of the solutions to reduce the over loading of transformers in apartments. Also this paper reviewed other components that should be checked in the designing of EV recharging infrastructure in apartments.

Assesment of Indoor Air Quality within Public Transport Vehicles operating in specified locations throughout Seoul (서울 일부 지역 교통수단의 실내 공기질 평가)

  • This paper was conducted concerning the degree of indoor air quality in public transport vehicles such as taxicabs, buses and subway trains, as sampled through the active participation of drivers and passengers in Seoul between 13th August 2005 and 2nd November 2005. The results were summarized as follows: 1. Among the measured substances especially respirable particulate matters ($PM_{10}$), total bacteria counts (TBC) and carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) exceeded the standard level of $150{\mu}g/m^3,\;800CFU/m^3$ and 1000ppm. 2. The concentration of carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) in taxi recorded 2491ppm, which is more than the standard amount of 1000ppm. This level was comparatively higher than all other public transportation methods. Total bacteria counts (TBC) in bus and subway recorded $1082CFU/m^3\;and\;1856CFU/m^3$, respectively. 3. The drivers who regularly work long hours showed the higher concern about contamination of the air inside the public transport vehicles and they considered it to be worse than the air outside. In contrast, the general public showed less concern about the air quality inside the public transport vehicles. However, they too acknowledged that the quality of the air inside the public transport vehicles was poor. In regards to the degree of indoor air quality in the public transport vehicles, a counterplan must be implemented urgently to effectively combat the excessive levels of $PM_{10}$, microorganism and $CO_2$. We need to gather more conclusive evidence pertaining to other possible contaminants and influencing factors.

A Study on the Overload Prevention Effect of Construction Waste Collection and Transportation Vehicles Using On-Board Truck Scale (자중계를 활용한 건설폐기물 수집·운반 차량의 과적 예방효과 연구)

  • In this study, On-Board Truck Scale was installed on the construction waste collection / transportation vehicles to monitor the weight of the waste at all stages from generation to final treatment. It was performed as a case study of a construction waste control technology that can efficiently manage the total generating and recycling amount using real-time weight/location information obtained by the On-Board Truck Scale device. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that the total amount of construction waste can be monitored in real time, and a plan for efficient logistics transportation can be derived through the analysis of operation patterns by managing the real-time transport volume, transport distance, and transport time of the construction waste collection / transportation vehicles. It was confirmed that overloading can be prevented in advance by controlling the loading also.

A Study on the Economic Life for the Three Types of Military Wheeled Vehicles (군용 기동장비 3종(${\frac{1}{4}}$톤, $1{\frac{1}{4}}$톤, $2{\frac{1}{2}}$톤) 차량의 경제수명 산출에 관한 연구)

  • The economic life for three types of military wheeled vehicles with load capacities of 1/4, $1{\cdot}1/4$, and $2{\cdot}1/2$ tones has been evaluated on the basis of the equivalent acquisition and operating costs. The economic life of wheeled vehicles were calculated from 12 to 18 years by using the annual equivalent cost method. The equivalent cost was decided at the lowest point of the total amount of equivalent acquisition cost and operating cost. The operating cost were collected from the field data. The evaluated economic life can be very useful for deciding the total life cycle of these three types of military vehicles. The annual equivalent cost method may be also applied to other military equipments such as communication electronics, weapon systems, and other type of vehicles.

  • It is discussed how to assign delivery tasks to automated guided vehicles (AGVs) for multiple container cranes in automated container terminals. The primary goal of dispatching AGVs is to complete all the lading and discharging operations as early as possible, and the secondary goal is to minimize the total travel distance of AGVs. It is assumed that AGVs are not dedicated to a specific container crane but shared among multiple cranes. A mathematical formulation is developed and a heuristic algorithm is suggested to obtain a near optimal solution with a reasonable amount of computational time. The single-cycle and the dual-cycle operations in both the seaside and the landside operations are analyzed. The effects of pooling AGVs for multiple container cranes on the performance of an entire AGV system are also analyze through a numerical experiment.

Estimation of CO2 Reduction by Applying Idling Stop to in-Use Vehicles (운행자동차의 공회전 정지에 의한 CO2 저감량 산출 연구)

  • The effect of idling stop on $CO_2$ reduction was estimated, especially in the area of in-use vehicles. In order to know the fuel saving for each class of vehicles, a methodology to calculate the fuel saving was used along with a standard test using NIER-07 mode. Idling stop execution rate was estimated by analyzing the driving pattern of the in-use city buses, which shows about 75% at maximum. And this corresponds to about 5.4% reduction of the daily total fuel consumption. Finally, $CO_2$ reduction in the automotive sector was estimated, which concludes that, when idling stop device is used, about 480 thousand and 450 thousand tons of $CO_2$ could be reduced with in-use city buses and taxis, respectively. This amount corresponds to about 1.2% of $CO_2$ reduction in the automotive sector.
