  • In this study, the reliability-based design optimization of the airfoil was performed. PARSEC function was used to consider the uncertainty of the aerodynamic shape for the reliability-based shape optimization of airfoils. Among various reliability analysis methods, the moment method was used to compute the probability of failure of the aerodynamic performance. The accuracy of the reliability analysis was compared with other methods and it was found that the moment method predicts the probability of failure accurately. Deterministic and reliability-based optimizations were performed for the shape of the airfoil and it was demonstrated that reliability-based optimum assures the aerodynamic performances under uncertainties of the shape of the airfoil.

  • Lower control arm (LCA) is a part of chassis in automotive. Performances of LCA such as stiffness, durability and permanent displacement must be considered in design optimization. However it is hard to consider different performances at once in optimization because these are measured by different commercial tools like Radioss, Abaqus, etc. In this paper, firstly, we construct the integrated design automation system for LCA based on Matlab including Hypermesh, Radioss and Abaqus. Secondly, Akaike information criterion (AIC) is used for assessment of reliability of LCA. It can find the best estimated distribution of performance from limited and discrete stochastic information and then obtains the reliability from the distribution. Finally, we consider tolerances of design variables and variation of elastic modulus and achieve the target reliability by carrying out reliability-based design optimization (RBDO) with the integrated system.

  • In this study, reliability-based design optimizations of airfoils were performed. PARSEC function was used to consider the uncertainty of the aerodynamic shape for the reliability-based shape optimization of airfoils. Among aerodynamic performance. The accuracy of the reliability analysis was compared with other method and it was found that the moment method predicts the probability accurately. Deterministic and reliability-based optimizations were performed for shape of the RAE2822 airfoil and it was demonstrated that reliability-based optimizations the aerodynamic performances under uncertainties of the shape of the airfoil.

Electrochemical and Safety Performances of Polyimide Nano fiber-based Nonwoven Separators for Li-ion Batteries

  • In this study, cell performance and thermal stability of lithium-ion cells with a polyimide (PI) separator are investigated. In comparison to conventional polyethylene (PE) separator, the PI separator exhibits distinct advantage in microporous structure, leading to superior reliability of the cell. The cells with PI separator exhibit good cell performances as same as the cells with PE separator, but their reliability was superior to the cell with PE separator. Especially in the hot-box test at 150 and 180℃, PI separator showed a contraction percentage close to 0% at 150℃, while the PE separator showed a contraction percentage greater than 10% in both width and length. Therefore, the PI separator can be the promising candidate for separators of the next generation of lithium-ion battery.

뇌졸중 환자 운동신뢰성 측정치의 통계적 분석 (Statistical Analysis of the Performance Reliability Data for Stroke Patients)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate performance reliability of stroke patients using kinematic analysis. Methods: A protocol to evaluate performance reliability was performed for three tasks on 20 stroke patients and 10 normal people. The tasks include hand to head (HH) task, hand to mouth (HM) task, and hand to target (HT) task. Results: The affected arms showed smaller joint angle, slower peak velocity, longer time to peak velocity for task performances than control group. Also, slower peak velocity and longer movement time for task performance in unaffected arm of stroke patients were obtained compared with the control group. Conclusion: Kinematic analysis is very useful quantitative tool to provide understanding on upper extremity function of stroke patients.

신뢰성 기반 강건 최적화를 이용한 자동채염기의 확률론적 구조설계 (Probabilistic Structure Design of Automatic Salt Collector Using Reliability Based Robust Optimization)

  • This paper deals with identification of probabilistic design using reliability based robust optimization in structure design of automatic salt collector. The thickness sizing variables of main structure member in the automatic salt collector were considered the random design variables including the uncertainty of corrosion that would be an inevitable hazardousness in the saltern work environment. The probabilistic constraint functions were selected from the strength performances of the automatic salt collector. The reliability based robust optimum design problem was formulated such that the random design variables were determined by minimizing the weight of the automatic salt collector subject to the probabilistic strength performance constraints evaluating from reliability analysis. Mean value reliability method and adaptive importance sampling method were applied to the reliability evaluation in the reliability based robust optimization. The three sigma level quality was considered robustness in side constraints. The probabilistic optimum design results according to the reliability analysis methods were compared to deterministic optimum design results. The reliability based robust optimization using the mean value reliability method showed the most rational results for the probabilistic optimum structure design of the automatic salt collector.

한국 서남 해상 풍력발전단지 통신망 연구 (Communication Network Architectures for Southwest Offshore Wind Farm)

  • With the increasing of the penetration rate of large-scale wind farms, a reliable, highly available and cost-effective communication network is needed. As the failure of a WF communication network will significantly impact the control and real-time monitoring of wind turbines, network reliability should be considered into the WF design process. This paper analyzes the network reliability of different WF configurations for the Southwest Offshore project that is located in Korea. The WF consists of 20 WTs with a total capacity of 60 MW. In this paper, the performance is compared according to a variety of indices such as network unavailability, mean downtime and network cost. To increase the network reliability, partial protection and full protection were investigated as strategies that can overcome the impact of a single point of failure. Furthermore, the reliability performances of different network architectures are analyzed, evaluated and compared.

On-line integration of structural identification/damage detection and structural reliability evaluation of stochastic building structures

  • Recently, some integrated structural identification/damage detection and reliability evaluation of structures with uncertainties have been proposed. However, these techniques are applicable for off-line synthesis of structural identification and reliability evaluation. In this paper, based on the recursive formulation of the extended Kalman filter, an on-line integration of structural identification/damage detection and reliability evaluation of stochastic building structures is investigated. Structural limit state is expanded by the Taylor series in terms of uncertain variables to obtain the probability density function (PDF). Both structural component reliability with only one limit state function and system reliability with multi-limit state functions are studied. Then, it is extended to adopt the recent extended Kalman filter with unknown input (EKF-UI) proposed by the authors for on-line integration of structural identification/damage detection and structural reliability evaluation of stochastic building structures subject to unknown excitations. Numerical examples are used to demonstrate the proposed method. The evaluated results of structural component reliability and structural system reliability are compared with those by the Monte Carlo simulation to validate the performances of the proposed method.

제어봉 구동장치 제어기기 설계 및 검증에 관한 연구 (Study of Design and Verification for Control Rod Control System)

  • We have developed a digital control rod control system not only to improve its performance but also to improve its reliability and speed of response so that it can replace the old fashioned analog system. However, a new developed digital control system should be tested to prove the validity by using any prototype or mock-up before application. The reliability prediction and the reliability block diagram analysis methods were adopted to verify the reliability of the developed hardware. For the case of software, especially fur a new developed control algorithm it has been tested to prove performances and validation by using a dynamic simulator and mock-up of control rod drive mechanism altogether. Here we want to present some key factors regarding to the new developed digital system with some verification procedures.

소프트웨어 신뢰도의 평가와 예측을 위한 베이지안 알고리즘 (Bayesian Algorithms for Evaluation and Prediction of Software Reliability)

  • 본 논문은 스미스의 베이지안 소프트웨어 신뢰도 성장모형을 기반으로 테스팅 단계에서의 소프트웨어 신뢰도에 대한 두가지 베이즈 추정량에 그에 대한 평가 알고 리즘을 제안하는데 목적이 있다. 그 방법으로 사전정보 클래스로서 일양사전분포보다 더 일반적인 베타사전분포 BE(a.b)를 사용하였다. 그 연구 과정으로 베이지안 추정절 차에 있어서 제곱오차결손함수와 해리스결손함수를 고려하고, 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 통 해서 소프트웨어 신뢰도에 대한 베이즈추정량들과 그에 따른 알고리즘을 이용하여 평 균자승오차 성능을 비교한다. 연구 결과로써 a가 크면 클수록 그리고 b가 적으면 적을 수록 해리스결손함수하의 소프트웨어 신뢰도의 베이즈추정량이 평균자승오차 성능의 관점에서는 더욱 유효하고, a 가 b보다 더 클 때 공액사전분포인 베타사전분포상의 소 프트웨어 신뢰도의 베이즈추정량이 비정보사전분포인 일양사전분포상에서 소프트웨어 신뢰도의 베이즈추정량보다는 성능이 더 좋다는 결론을 얻는다.
