Red Pepper Productivity and Soil Properties as Affected by Different Intervals of Side-dressing N and K Applications in Plastic Film House

  • Consecutive pepper cultivation in plastic film houses may lead to salt accumulation because pepper is considered a heavy nutrient feeder. For this reason, appropriate methods of fertilizer application should be established. Thus, we investigated the effect of different intervals of side-dressing N and K fertilizer applications on soil and red pepper in a plastic film house. All the amounts of recommended compost and phosphorus fertilizer were applied as basal dressing. Cultivars of the pepper plant were Cheon-Ha-Dae-Se (CHDS) and NW-BiGaLim (NW-BGL). Nitrogen and potassium fertilizers were treated as side-dressing at different intervals, 22 times in every 10 days, 15 times in every 15 days, and 11 times in every 20 days. Soil pH decreased with decreasing the intervals of side-dressing applications, whereas electrical conductivity (EC) declined with the increasing fertilizer application intervals. In particular, EC value decreased by up to 75% with CHDS cultivar in the plot of 20 day-interval and with NW-BGL cultivar in the plot of 15 day-interval. The concentrations of available phosphorus in the soils increased with increasing the interval. The concentration of exchangeable $K^+$ increased but exchangeable $Ca^{2+}$ and $Mg^{2+}$ decreased in all the plots, except in the control plot. The concentrations of nitrogen and phosphorus in leaves of the pepper plants were lowest in the control plot. Potassium concentrations in the pepper leaves were high in the control plot and in the plots of CHDS with 10 day-interval and NW-BGL with 15 day-interval. Red pepper productivity was high in the plots of 10- and 15 day-intervals for CHDS cultivar and 15- and 20 day-intervals for NW-BGL cultivar. Therefore, the 15 day-interval of side-dressing N and K applications was considered as an appropriate method for cultivating pepper plants and protecting soil in plastic film houses.

산처리(酸處理) 조건(條件)이 한천(寒天)의 수율(收率) 및 성질(性質)에 미치는 영향(影響) (Effect of Acid Treatment on Extractability and Properties of Agar)

  • 참우뭇가사리 (Gelidium amansii sp.)를 원예(原藻)로 하여 추출조건( 抽出條件)(산(酸)의 종류(種類)와 농도(濃度) 및 추출시간(抽出時間) 등)에 따른 한천(寒天)의 수율(收率)과 이화학적성질(理化學的性質)을 분석(分析)하였으며, 조건별(條件別)로 추출(抽出)된 한천(寒天)에 대하여 agarose와 agaropectin의 비율(比率)을 측정(測定) 검토(檢討)하였다. 자숙중(煮熟中)에 염산(鹽酸), 황산(黃酸) 및 초산(酢酸)을 가했을 때, 추출(抽出)된 한천(寒天)의 수률(收率)과 젤리강도를 비교(比較)한 결과(結果) 염산(鹽酸)을 가하여 추출(抽出)한 것이 가장 우수(優秀)하였으며 산(酸)의 알맞은농도(濃度)는 0.005-0.01N HCI의 범위임을 알았다. 산(酸)을 첨가하지 않고 추출(抽出)한 대조구(對照區)의 수율(收率)과 젤리강도는 13.3%, $306g/cm^2$였다. 산(酸)의 종류(種類)와 농도별(濃度別)로 가장 높은 수율(收率)을 보인 추출조건(抽出條件)은 0.007N HCI의 38.7%, 0.007N $H_2SO_4$의 40.5%. 0.05N $CH_2 COOH의 42.4%였다. 그리고 가장 높은 젤리강도를 보인 추출조건(抽出條件)은 0.005N HCI일 때의 $511g/cm^2$, $0.005N\;CH_2 COOH일 때의 $463g/cm^2$, 0.01M $CH_2COOH$ 일때의 $436g/cm^2$였다. 그리고 구(對照區)와 젤리강도 및 수율(收率)이 가장 높게 나타난 산처리추출(酸處理抽出)된 한천중(寒天中) agarose의 함량이 가장 많은 것은 젤리강도가 가장 높은 0.005N HCI 처리구한천(處理區寒天)이었으며, 이때 성분(成分)과 황산기(黃酸基)의 함량은 가장 적었다.

Physico-chemical Meat Qualities of Loin and Top Round Beef from Holstein Calves with Different Slaughtering Ages

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the physico-chemical and sensory properties of loin (m. longissimus dorsi) and top round (m. semimembranosus) beef from 3-, 6-, 9-, and 12 mon-old Holstein calves. For both loin and top round muscles, the moisture contents were decreased, whereas the protein and fat contents were increased, as the slaughtering age increased. In terms of meat color, for both muscle types, CIE $L^*$ values were decreased, whereas CIE $a^*$ values and myoglobin content increased as the slaughtering age increased. pH values were significantly higher in the 3 mon-old group than in the other groups. The Warner-Bratzler shear force (WBSF) values were lowest for loin muscles from the 12 mon-old group; however, there was no significant difference for top round muscle among the 4 age groups. Cooking loss for both loin and top round muscles were significantly higher for the 3 mon-old group than for the other groups. The water holding capacity (WHC) of both muscles were highest for the 12 mon-old groups (p<0.05). In fatty acid composition of the 12 mon-old groups, loin muscles had significantly higher levels of C14:0, C16:1n7, C18:1n9, and mono-unsaturated fatty acids (MUFA), and top round muscles had significantly higher levels of C16:1n7, C18:1n7, C18:1n9, MUFA, MUFA/SFA. Loin muscle from the 3- and 12 mon-old groups had significantly higher scores for tenderness and overall likeness. Top round muscle from the 9- and 12 mon-old groups had significantly higher scores for overall likeness than those from the other age groups.

  • Enhancing the value of fine chemicals based on biomass resources is an important objective for addressing environmental and other concerns such as demand for renewable or green products, as well as from the political perspective to reduce dependence on fossil feedstock associated with the use of petroleum-based products. Based on these considerations, we studied the synthesis of estolide using waste plant-based oil materials and their application as lubricants and pour point depressants. Five estolides were prepared by varying molar ratio of palmitic acid (PA) to oleic acid (OA) using a reaction time of 48 h. The estolides were characterized by size exclusion chromatography (SEC) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). The isolated yields were in the range of 57-78 % and purity was 93-97%, showing iodine values of 18.2-37.8, total acid numbers (TANs) of 75.6-94.2 mg KOH/g and estolide numbers (ENs) of 1.2-1.8. Increasing the ratio of OA to PA in the synthesis decreased the kinematic viscosity and clouding point of the estolides. Four ball wear test of the estolides as a base oil demonstrated that the wear scar diameter (WSD) of the estolides was significantly lower (0.320-0.495 mm) than the WSD of general base oils such as 150N and Yubase (0.735 and 0.810 mm, respectively), indicating better wear resistance of the estolides. However, the lubricant property was found to be independent of the amount of OA in the estolides. These new materials are prospective candidates for application as a lubricant base oil.

단백질의 유화작용(乳化作用)에 미치는 외적(外的) 조건(條件)에 관한 연구 (Effects of External Conditions on the Emulsifying Property of Proteins)

  • Swift변법에 의하여 분리대두단백질과 카제인의 유화용량을 측정할 때와 Acton변법에 의하여 유화안정도를 측정할 때의 여러 가지 실험조건이 측정결과에 미치는 영향을 관찰하였다. 유화용량(EC)은 단백질의 농도$(0.1{\sim}0.3%)$와 교반속도$(6,000{\sim}12,000rpm)$가 증가할수록 감소하였다. 기름첨가속도 $0.8{\sim}1.0\;ml/sec$ 범위에서는 EC에 큰 변화를 일으키지 않았으며 이온농도$(0.1{\sim}1M)$가 증가함에 따라 EC는 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 단백질의 등전점 부근에서 EC는 가장 낮게 나타났으며 이에 따른 EC의 변화는 단백질의 NSI 변화와 거의 같은 경향을 나타내었다. 유화안정도(EC)는 단백질의 농도, 기름첨가량, 교반속도, 교반시간이 증가할수록 높아졌으며 pH의 변화에 따른 ES의 변화는 단백질의 NSI변화와 같은 경향을 나타내었다. NaCl$(0.1{\sim}1.0M)$ 첨가시 Na-case-inate의 ES는 높아졌으나 분리대두단백질의 ES는 감소하였다. 이상의 실험 결과로부터 식품단백질의 유화작용을 평가하기 위한 기준측정법을 선정하고 이 방법에 의하여 실험실에서 제조된 분리대두단백질의 유화작용을 평가비교하였다.

1,3-bisdicyanovinylindane을 이용한 산성가스 감지용 화학 센서 제작 (Fabrication of Chemical Sensors for the Detection of Acidic Gas using 1,3-bisdicyanovinylindane)

  • 본 연구는 산도 변화에 따라 색이 빠르게 변하는 특성을 가지고는 있는 반응성 염료(1,3-bisdicyanovinylindane)를 이용하여 신속하고 정확한 산성가스 검출을 위한 화학적 센서 제작을 위한 방법을 제안하였다. 반응성 염료(1,3-bisdicyanovinylindane)는 산성 상태에서 염료와 양성자의 해리되어 흡광도의 변화를 이용하면 손쉽게 미세화학센서를 제작 할 수 있었다. 또한, 반응성 염료는 수용액 상태에서 매우 안정적인 음전하를 지니고 있어 양전하를 지니는 고분자 전해질과 쉽게 layer-by-layer(LBL) 방법을 이용하여 다층 박막 구조를 쉽게 구현할 수 있었다. 먼저, 마이크로스탬프 위에 비반응성 염료와 양전하 고분자 전해질을 적층하여 다층박막을 형성한 후 센서기판에 프린팅한다. 이후 지시염료와 양전하 고분자 전해질을 다시 적층하여 최종 가스센서를 구현한다. 고안된 가스 센서는 산성가스와 반응을 통해 사용자에게 주의를 유도하는 해골 모양을 표현하여 실제 응용성을 보여주었다. 제시된 산성가스 감지센서는 첫째로 제작 과정이 매우 단순하며 저비용이고 둘째로 완성된 감지센서는 환원 과정을 통해 여러번 재사용될 수 있으며 마지막으로 센서 제작 공정이 매우 단순하며 수용액을 기반으로 하는 환경친화적 방법이다.

EVA계 핫멜트 접착제의 조성이 접착력에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Composition of EVA-based Hot-Melt Adhesives on Adhesive Strength)

  • 점착부여수지의 종류와 함량을 달리하여 에틸렌비닐아세테이트 공중합체(Ethylene Vinyl Acetate Copolymer, EVA)를 베이스 폴리머로 하는 핫멜트 접착제를 제조하고, 그것들의 유변학적 거동과 폴리우레탄 기재에 대한 T-peel 접착력을 평가하였다. C5 지방족 석유수지, C9 방향족 석유수지, 수소가 첨가된 디사이클로펜타디엔 석유수지 그리고, 디사이클로펜타디엔/아크릴 모노머 공중합 석유수지가 각각 핫멜트 접착제의 점착부여수지로 사용되었다. 점착부여수지의 산소 함량을 분석하여 점착부여수지의 극성도를 측정하였는데, 디사이클로펜타디엔/아크릴 모노머 공중합 석유수지가 다른 점착부여수지보다 산소 함량이 높은 것을 확인하였다. 디사이클로펜타디엔/아크릴 모노머 공중합 석유수지만이 EVA와 완전한 혼화성을 보였고, 핫멜트 접착제는 모든 조성에서 균일상을 나타내었다. 핫멜트 접착제와 폴리우레탄 기재와의 T-peel 접착력은 핫멜트 접착제 자체의 저장탄성계수(G')보다는 핫멜트 접착제에 첨가된 점착부여수지의 극성도에 의해서 좌우됨이 확인되었다.

항공기제조업자(航空機製造業者)의 책임(責任)에 관한 연구 (A Study on Product Liability of Aircraft Manufacturer)

  • The area covered by product liability in broadest sense is so vast that an attempt to analyse all its impact on the aviation world risk. Every effort has been made to confine our review of subject a closely as possible to its influence on aircraft manufacturers, airlines and passengers, in spite of strong connections with other spheres of commercial. Product Liability in aviation is the liability of aircraft's manufacturer, processor or non-manufacturing seller for injury to the person or property of a buyer or third party caused by a product which has been sold. Here-in a product is aircraft, third party is passengers who suffered damage by defective design, defective construction, inadequate instructions for handling in aircraft. Whenever a product turns out to be defective after it has been sold, there are under Anglo-American law three remedies available against the aircraft's manufacturer (1) liability for negligence (2) breach of warranty (3) strict liability in tort. There are Under continental law Three remedies available against the aircraft's manufacturer (1) liability for defective warranty (2) liability for non-fulfillment of obligation (3) liability in tort. It is worth pointing out here an action for breach of warranty or for defective warranty, for non-fulfillment of obligation is available only to direct purchaser on the basis of his contract with the aircraft's manufacturer, which of course weakness its range and effectiveness. An action for tort offers the advantage of being available also to third parties who have acquired the defective product at a later stage. In tort, obligations are constituted not only by contract, but also by stature and common law. In conclusion, There in no difference in principle of law. In conclusion I would like to make few suggestions regarding the product liability for aircraft's manufacturer. Firstly, current general product liability code does not specify whether government offices(e.g. FAA) inspector conducted the inspection and auditory certificate can qualify as conclusive legal evidence. These need to be clarified. Secondly, because Korea is gaining potential of becoming aircraft's manufacturer through co-manufacturing and subcontracting-manufacturing with the US and independent production, there needs legislation that can harmonize the protection of both aircraft's manufacturers and their injured parties. Since Korea is in primary stage of aviation industry, considerate policy cannot be overlooked for its protection and promotion. Thirdly, because aircraft manufacturers are risking restitution like air-carriers whose scope of restitution have widened to strict and unlimited liability, there needs importation of mandatory liability insurance and national warranty into the product liability for aircraft's manufacturers. Fourthly, there needs domestic legislation of air transportation law that clearly regulates overall legal relationship in air transportation such as carrier & aircraft manufacturer's liability, and aviation insurance.

Fe4[Fe(CN)6]3가 코팅된 Mica 또는 TiO2/Mica 적외선 반사용 청색안료 제조 및 이 도료의 차열 특성 평가 (Preparation of Fe4[Fe(CN)6]3 Coated on Mica or TiO2/Mica for Infrared Reflective Blue Pigments and Isolation-heat Properties of These Paints)

  • $Fe_4[Fe(CN)_6]_3$ coated on a mica or $TiO_2$/mica surface as infrared reflective blue pigment was prepared by a hydrothermal method. $Fe_4[Fe(CN)_6]_3$, used as coloring agent, was uniformly coated on mica or $TiO_2$/mica under the optimized condition of a 1.2 : 1 weight ratio between iron(III) chloride hexahydrate and potassium ferrocyanidetrihydrate at the initial pH level of 4.5 at $70^{\circ}C$. The infrared (IR)-reflective pigments were characterized by SEM, Zeta-potenial, FT-IR, and UV-VIS NIR spectrophotometry. Especially the CIE color coordinate and total solar reflectance(TSR) properties of the pigments were investigated in relation to variation of the coating and coated substrate thicknesses. Isolation-heat paint was prepared with 20 wt% blue pigments fully dispersed in acryl-urethane resin and several additives to coat the film uniformly. The films were also measured with CIE color coordinate, TSR, and the surface temperature was recorded by an isolation-heat measuring system. The pigments and films of $Fe_4[Fe(CN)_6]_3$ coated on mica and $TiO_2$/mica showed high TSR values compared with the TSR value of $Fe_4[Fe(CN)_6]_3$ itself. According to the increase of TSR value, the property of isolation-heat is effective. To realize the optimal blue color, we applied the the pigment to $TiO_2$ coated mica(TM(b)) which has blueish interference color. The pigment of $Fe_4[Fe(CN)_6]_3$ coated on TM(b) shows a strong blue color compared with that of $Fe_4[Fe(CN)_6]_3$ coated on $TiO_2$/Mmca(TM(w)), which has a whitish interference color.

고구마 분말을 첨가하여 제조한 dinner roll의 품질특성과 당뇨 유도 흰쥐의 혈당에 미치는 효과 (Quality Characteristics of Dinner Roll Added with Lyophilized Sweet Potato Powder and Its Effect on the Blood Glucose Level)

  • SPP를 첨가하여 제조한 빵(dinner roll) 반죽의 pH는 대조구와 실험구 사이에 차이가 없었다. SPP 첨가량과 반죽의 밀도 사이에는 강한 양의 상관관계를, 반죽의 발효팽창력 사이에는 음의 상관관계를 나타내었다. Dinner roll의 굽기손실율은 SPP의 첨가량이 증가할수록 감소하였으나, 비용적은 차이가 없었다. Dinner roll crust의 L value, b value, chroma 및 Hue angle은 대조구보다 SPP 첨가구가 유의적으로 낮았고, a value는 대조구보다 SPP 첨가구가 유의적으로 높았다. Crumb의 L value와 Hue angle은 대조구보다 SPP 첨가구가 유의적으로 낮았고, a value, b value 및 chroma는 대조구보다 SPP 첨가구가 유의적으로 높았다. SPP 첨가량과 dinner roll의 hardness 및 cohesiveness 사이에는 강한 양의 상관관계가 있었으나, springiness 및 chewiness와는 상관관계가 형성되지 않았다. Streptozotocin 투여로 당뇨병이 유발된 흰쥐에 SPP가 첨가된 dinner roll을 4주간 섭취시킨 결과, SPP 첨가구의 혈당 농도가 대조구보다 유의적으로 감소하였고, 이는 SPP에 함유된 ${\beta}$-carotene 때문인 것으로 사료되었다.
