  • We consider the subdiagonal bilinear model and ARMA model with subdiagonal bilinear errors. Sufficient conditions for geometric ergodicity of associated Markov chains are derived by using results on generalized random coefficient autoregressive models and then strict stationarity and ,a-mixing property with exponential decay rates for given processes are obtained.

  • Hydroxyapatites were prepared by the different $SiO_2$ addition at $1450^{\circ}C$ for 2h. With the increase of $SiO_2$ addition, microstructure, bulk density, porosity, mechanical strength of $hydroxyapatite/{\beta}-TCP$ composite were investigated. When the sintered HAp contained 1 wt% $SiO_2$, the each properties of the HAp were increased. But the excess addition of $SiO_2$ content above 1wt% the each property were decreased. This results were due to the ${\beta}-TCP$ phase. The ${\beta}-TCP$ phase appeared at 3 wt% $SiO_2$ addition and the ${\beta}-TCP$ phase was enhanced by the $SiO_2$ increasing.

  • A new series of methotrexate analogues was prepared in which the ${\beta}-position$ of the glutamic acid moiety is substituted by the aryl groups. The glutamic acid moiety was modified in order to enhance the lipophilic property. Reaction of N-acetylglicine ester[1] with ethyl 3-arylacrylate derivatives[2] produced trans-3-aryl-2-carboxy-5-pyrrolidone derivatives[3], which were hydrolyzed to give ${\beta}-aryl-glutamic$ acid derivatives[4]. The compounds[4] were treated with the p-aminobenzoic acid moiety and then with the pteridine ring moiety to give ${\beta}-arylmethotrexate$ derivatives[6,7]. These compounds were tested for antibacterial activity against Streptococcus faecium and for antitumor activity against murine leukemias and against human tumor cell lines in vitro. Several compounds showed significant antibacterial activity.

  • Let Y(t) be a stochastic integral process represented by Brownian motion. We show that YHt (t) is continuous in t with probability one for Molder function Ht of exponent ${\beta}$ and finally we derive asymptotic self-similar process YM (t) which converges to Yw (t).

  • Both synthetic and endogenous $A{\beta}$ are degraded by peptidase G. Both $A{\beta}40$ and 42 are cleaved by peptidase G. Peptidase G cleaves $A{\beta}40$ into small fragments ($A{\beta}18$) which lacks aggregation property and are not toxic to neuron. Peptidase G seems to degrade multimeric $A{\beta}$ more efficiently than monomeric $A{\beta}$. Peptidase G protects neurons from toxicity induced by $A{\beta}$ by cleaving it into smaller fragments. Thus, dis-regulation of peptidase G could contribute amyloid deposit found in AD brain.

  • A bacterium producing the $\beta$-mannosidase was isolated from intestine of fresh fish. The isolate YB-29 has been identified as Chryseomeningosepticum on the basis on its 16S rRNA sequence, morphology and biochemical proper The $\beta$-mannosdiase activity was detected in both the culture filtrate and the cell extract of C. meningosepticum YB-29. The $\beta$-mannosidase of culture filtrate showed the maximum activity for hydrolysis of para-nitrophenyl-$\beta$-D-mannopyranoside at pH 5.0-6.0 and 55-$60^{\circ}C$. The enzyme was able to hydrolyze the oligomeric substrates such as mannobiose and mannotriose with higher activity for mannotriose than mannobiose.

  • Composites of SiC-Si3N4 consisted of uniformly distributed elongated $\beta$-Si3N4 grains and equiaxed $\beta$-SiC grains were fabricated with $\beta$-SiC,. $\alpha$-Si3N4 Al2O3 and Y2O3 powders. By hot-pressing and subsequent annelaing elongated $\beta$-Si3N4 grains were grown via$\alpha$longrightarrow$\beta$ phase transformation and equiaxed $\beta$-Si3N4 composites increased with increasing the Si3N4 content owing to the reduced defect size and enhanced crack deflection by elongated $\beta$-Si3N4 grains and the grain boundary strengthening by nitrogen incorporation. Typical flexural strength and fracture toughness of SiC-40 wt% Si3N4 composites were 783 MPa and 4.2 MPa.m1/2 respectively.

  • A sequential procedure is proposed in order to construct one-sided confidence intervals for a normal mean with guaranteed coverage probability and ${\beta}-protection$ when the normal mean and variance are identical. First-order asymptotic properties on the sequential sample size are found. The derived results hold with uniformity in the total parameter space or its subsets.

Effects of ${\beta}$-Conglycinin and Glycinin on Thermal Gelation and Gel Properties of Soy Protein

  • Dynamic shear moduli of isolated soy protein solutions upon heating were measured to monitor gelation. Onsets of gelation coincide with onset temperatures of denaturation in glycinin and ${\beta}$-conglycinin solutions, whereas in isolated soy proteins, onset of gelation was above denaturation temperature of ${\beta}$-conglycinin with storage modulus increasing in two steps. The first increase in storage modulus of isolated soy proteins occurred at about $78.5^{\circ}C$, while the second increase started at about $93^{\circ}C$. Gel properties of soy protein gels having different proportions of glycinin and ${\beta}$-conglycinin were measured by compression-decompression test. ${\beta}$-conglycinin was responsible for gel elasticity. Glycinin significantly increased hardness, toughness, and fracturability of gels at high heating temperature near $100^{\circ}C$. Results reveal texture of soy protein gels can be controlled by regulating ratio of glycinin to ${\beta}$-conglycinin and heating temperature.
