This study looks into forest fire occurrence hazards according to the change of temperature and humidity over thirty years at interval of ten days. We used data from the forest fire inventory from 1995 to 2004 and weather data such as average temperature and relative humidity for 30 years from 1971 to 2000. These data were expressed as a database with ten-day intervals for 76 weather stations. Forest fire hazards occurred in the spring season from the end of March to the middle of April. For the first step, the primitive surface of temperature and humidity was interpolated by IDW (the standard interpolation method). These thematic maps have a 1 km by 1 km grid spacing resolution. Next, we executed a simple regression analysis after extracting forest fire frequency, temperature and humidity values from 76 weather stations. The results produced a coefficient of determination ($R^2$) ranging from 0.4 to 0.6. Moreover, the estimation of forest fire occurrence hazards during early April was very high at Gyeongbuk Interior, Chungcheong Interior and part of Gangwon. The range of temperature and humidity having an influence on forest fire occurrence was as follows: average temperature and relative humidity in early April was $9-12^{\circ}C$ and 61-65%. At the end of March, temperature was $6-10^{\circ}C$, humidity 62-67%, and temperature was $11-14^{\circ}C$ and humidity 60-67% in the middle of April.

The heuristics accumulated in the field activities of firefighters were reviewed through big data analysis of fire occurrences in Gyeonggi-do and researched to be utilized for proper fire prevention activities according to time, day, and target through quantitative modeling. Empirical rules with high sympathy were collected through direct interviews with firefighters. Among them, the rule of thumb that "Friday is the most fire-prone" is considered to be the most important in terms of fire monitoring and prediction. A big data comparison analysis was conducted, including the number of fires and damages that occurred in Gyeonggi-do in 2018. Furthermore, fire occurrence patterns by region, day of the week, time of day, and building type were derived. Regarding empirical rules that have been validated through research, relatively inexperienced firefighters also can make decisions by relying on refined quantitative predictive modeling and empirical rules including local government and time-based factors that reflect big fire occurrence data.
In order to prevent cones from being damaged by cone insects, Gravitarmata margarotana and Dioryctria abietella, sprinkler system was installed on the Pinus koraiensis Seed Orchard. Such a test was conducted at Chung-ju, Chungcheong buk-do, Korea in 2002. Insectides of Diflubenzuron 25% WP ${\times}2,500$ and Cyfluthrin 2%EC ${\times}\;1,000$ were sprayed at fifteen-day and twenty-day intervals during the period of insects adult occurrence by sprinkler system. The Gravitarmata margarotana generally emerged for about 53 days from middle April to early June, and peak emergence was 10 days from April 20 to April 30. Dioryctria abietella generally emerged for about 108 days from late April to early August, and peak emergence was 10 days from May 20 to May 30. Damage rate of cones were $8.7{\sim}9.7%$ and $10.9{\sim}12.7%$ on average with crown insecticide spraying with Cyfluthrin and Diflubenzuron, while 67.5% when not treated. Control effectiveness of this insecticide spraying was $85.6{\sim}87.1%$ and 83.9%와 81.2%, respectively. When it considers the forest environment, it is recommended diflubenzuron which is low toxic pesticide. In conclusion, effectual times and number of diflubenzuron 25% WP application with sprinkler system against cone insects were from early May through late August and six times at twenty-day interval.
The main objective of the study was to analyze the weather conditions of frost occurrence for protecting crops against frost damage in Korea. The primary data used for the analysis of meteorological characteristics of frost occurrence days are the airmass pattern, minimum temperature, grass minimum temperature, daily temperature range, relative humidity, minimum relative humidity, mean wind speed in autumn and spring. Frost often occurs when the migratory anticyclone passes the southwest of Korea. The importance of grass minimum temperature measurements for agricultural purposes has previously been recognized. The grass minimum thermometer is capable of detecting ground frosts which are often not recorded by the minimum thermometer. The minimum temperature of frost occurrence days is above $0^{\circ}C$ in the coastal area, but the grass minimum temperature of frost occurrence days is below $0^{\circ}C$ in the whole area. The daily temperature of frost occurrence days is about 9 to $12^{\circ}C$ in the coastal area and is over $14^{\circ}C$ in the inland area. The minimum relative humidity of frost occurrence days is about 30 to 50%. The mean wind speed of frost occurrence days is less than 2m/sec.
The present study was accomplished to understand the occurrence and time serial variations of oxygen-deficient watermass in wonmun Bay from 1989 to 1991. From the results of this work, oxygen-deficient water was periodically observed in bottom layer and in Summer in this region. The stratification of water began to develop in Spring and the strong formation of oxygen-deficient water showed in Summer but it gradually disappeared in Autumn. It seems that the occurring and continuing period of very low dissolved oxygen watermass is intensively controlled by meteorological conditions and vortical stratification of water column. On formation of oxygen-deficient watermass, high nutrient concentrations in the bottom layer appear to be due to release of nutrients from bottom sediment. The dissolved inorganic phosphate versus AOU shows two linear curves according to the level of AOU. In the relationships between phosphate and AOU, the gradient of a linear curve over approximately 5mg-AOU/l was significantly large, presumably indicating dissolution of phosphate from the sediment.

The frequency of extreme weather events was analyzed using meteorological data (air temperature, precipitation, and duration of sunshine) collected from 61 stations over a 36-year span (1981-2016). The 10-day meteorological data were used as a basic unit for this analysis. On average, the frequency of occurrence of abnormal weather was 9.88 per year and has increased significantly during this 36-year period. According to the type of abnormal weather, the frequencies of occurrence of abnormally high air temperature and short duration of sunshine have increased by 0.50 and 0.41 per 10 years, respectively; however, that for abnormally low air temperature has decreased by 0.31 per 10 years and the trend was statistically significant. The highest frequency of abnormal weather appeared in 2007, with a frequency of 14.31. Abnormal weather was the most frequent at Yeongdeok station with an average frequency of 11.78 per year over this 36-year span.

The primary objective of this study was to gain insight into the characteristics of algal blooms in relation to the marine environment of the Korean Southern Coast, using more than 22 years worth of data since the first known occurrence of algal blooms. Algal blooms tend to occur when the precipitation or water temperature for a ten-day period prior to the annual bloom exceeds the long-term mean value. There are three notable causative species in six different inner bays, namely Prorocentrum sp., Skeletonema costatum, and Heterosigma akashiwo, and in addition, these three species appeared in different conditions of water temperature and salinity at each region.
The simultaneous occurrence of an intracranial and a spinal subdural hematoma (SDH) is rare. We describe a case of cranial SDH with a simultaneous spinal SDH. An 82-year-old woman visited the emergency room because of drowsiness and not being able to walk 6 weeks after falling down. A neurological examination showed a drowsy mentality. Brain computed tomography showed bilateral chronic SDH with an acute component. The patient underwent an emergency burr-hole trephination and hematoma removal. She exhibited good recovery after the operation. On the fourth postoperative day, she complained of low-back pain radiating to both lower limbs, and subjective weakness of the lower limbs. Spine magnetic resonance imaging revealed a thoracolumbosacral SDH. A follow-up spinal magnetic resonance imaging study that was performed 16 days later showed a significant decrease in the size of the spinal SDH. We discuss the pathogenesis of this simultaneous occurrence of spinal and cranial SDH.
In order to investigate the effects of local and synoptic meteorological conditions on urban scale particulate air pollutants observed over the Busan coastal area, power spectrum analysis was applied to observed particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter $\leq10\;{\mu}m$ ($PM_{10}$) for the period from 1 October, 1993 to 31 December, 2004. Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) analysis was used to obtain the hourly mean observed $PM_{10}$ concentrations to identify different periodicity scales of $PM_{10}$ concentrations. The results showed that, aside from the typical and well-known periodicities such as diurnal and annual variations caused by anthropogenic influences, three other significant power spectral density peaks were identified: 7-day, 21-day and 2.25-year periodicities. Cospectrum analysis indicated that the seven-day variations were closely related to the synoptic meteorological conditions such as weak wind speed, which are relevant to the stagnant high pressure system slowly passing through the Korean Peninsula. The intra-seasonal 21-day variation was negatively correlated with wind speed but was consistently positively correlated with relative humidity, which is related to aerosol formation that can be achieved as a result of the hygroscopic characteristics of aerosols. However, the quasibiennial 2.25-year variation was correlated with the frequency of Asian dust occurrence, the periodicities of which have been recorded inter-annually over the Korean Peninsula.
This study was conducted to find out the effect of rainfall time on growth and seed quality in safflower. Rainfall was done artificially and the treatment of rainfall time was divided into 6 parts. Each rainfall treatment was done from the first day of flowering up to the fifth day after flowering, from sixth day after flowering to the tenth day after flowering, from the eleventh day after flowering to the fifteenth day after flowering, from sixteenth day after flowering to twentith day after flowering, from the twenty first day after flowering to the twenty fifth day after flowering and from twenty sixth day after flowering to thirtith day after flowering. Rainfall time after flowering did not affect disease occurrence on the upper part and flower bud of safflower, which were infected at were 3.3 and 1, respectively. Ripened grain found on the main stem and primary branch was 37.4% and 65.0% at first day to the fifth day and sixth day to the tenth day rainfall periods after flowering, respectively. Yield was decreased by 14% in the sixth day up to the tenth day and eleventh day up to the fifteenth day rainfall periods (282-281kg/10a) compared to the one under control (327kg/10a). Hunter's L value was 73.5 and 69.9 in twenty first up to the twenty fifth day and twenty sixth up to the thirtith day rainfall periods after flowering, which decreased significantly to 79.3 under non-rainfall period. Therefore, it can be concluded that the optimum harvest time is twenty fifth day after flowering to maintain seed quality at rainfall time and before harvesting period.
