Social Supports from Organization and Customer: An Integrated Model

  • This study applies the job-demands resource (JD-R) model to investigate the interactive effect of job demands and job resources in predicting the development of service employee work engagement and customer-oriented attitude. This paper proposed a theoretical model that suggests that the service employee's work engagement is the consequence of the employee's perceived support from the organization and its customers (customer participation) and leads to a customer-oriented attitude. However, the effect of organizational support is somewhat hindered by job insecurity, demonstrating the inability of an organizationally provided job resource to overcome the job demand of job insecurity. As a type of job demand from customer's perspective, customer crowding is suggested as a negative moderator in the link between customer participation and work engagement. As such, this article proposes how different elements of a service employee's work environment interact to ultimately influence the service employee's customer-oriented attitude. Specifically, the current research focuses on how the negative contextual elements of job insecurity and job crowding (i.e., job demands) interact with the potentially positive elements of organizational support and customer participation (i.e., job resources), as well as with an employee's customer orientation, to ultimately develop a customer-oriented attitude. This study concludes with some propositions for potential causal relationships among key constructs that can be empirically tested in future research, as well as implications of the current study for both managers and researchers.

치과위생사의 직업몰입 영향요인 연구 (Determinants of Occupational Commitment of Dental Hygienists)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the determinants of the occupational commitment of dental hygienists in Korea. The independent variables contain three groups of work rewards variables which consist of task reward variables (autonomy, job significance, resource adequacy, role conflict, workload, and routinization), social reward variables(supervisory support, co-worker support, and negative affectivity), and organizational reward variables(job security and promotional chances), and eight sociodemographic variables. The sample of this study consisted of 474 dental hygienists who work at general hospitals, university hospitals, dental hospitals and clinics across the nation. Data were collected with self-administered questionnaires and analyzed using hierarchical regression technique. It was found that: (1) job significance have a significant positive effect on the occupational commitment of dental hygienists; (2) role conflict, workload, routinization, and type of work site have significant negative effect on the occupational commitment of dental hygienists; (3) the study model explains 23.7% of the variance in occupational commitment among dental hygienists. The results of the study indicate that managers of dental clinics and hospitals should make efforts to extend the scope and quality of dental hygienists' work through job enlargement and job enrichment.

스마트슈즈 위험지각이 스마트슈즈 유형별 구매의도에 미치는 영향 (Impacts of Perceived Risks for Smart Shoes on the Purchase Intention by Types of Smart Shoess)

  • This study examines the impact of perceived risks for smart shoes based on purchase intention by type of smart shoes as well as how they are mediated by fashion innovativeness and technology innovativeness. It also compares the differences between awareness, interest and perceived risk of smart shoes by gender and age. This study was conducted based on men and women in their 20s to 50s who provided 246 samples for data analysis using SPSS 25.0. The results show significant differences in the awareness, interests and perceived economic risk of smart shoes by gender and age. The perceived performance risk had a positive effect on the purchase intention of smart shoes for GPS. Perceived aesthetic-psychological risk had a negative effect on all types of smart shoes. Perceived economic risk had a negative effect on the purchase intention of smart shoes for entertainment; in comparison, perceived social risk had a positive effect on the purchase intention of smart shoes for GPS and entertainment. Fashion innovativeness and technology innovativeness also mediated the relationship between perceived economic risk as well as the purchase intention of smart shoes for healthcare, GPS and entertainment.

Quality of Life in Children and Adolescents with Inflammatory Bowel Disease: Impact and Predictive Factors

  • Purpose: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in children and adolescents is associated with high morbidity and possibly has a significant negative impact on their quality of life. This study aimed to evaluate the quality of life of children and adolescents with IBD and define the variables that impact these individuals. Methods: We administered the Pediatric Quality of Life Questionnaire (PedsQL) to 35 children and adolescents diagnosed with IBD and with available quantitative data from clinical records on epidemiology, clinical evolution, complementary tests, medical interventions, and disease activity. Data were evaluated according to the IBD type and compared with a control group of healthy children. Results: The study group showed a significantly lower PedsQL score than the control group (p<0.01). Significant factors contributing to poor overall quality of life included female sex, Crohn's disease, surgery, and food restrictions. Symptoms such as diarrhea and the fear of using public toilets were associated with low physical scores. Feeling sick had a negative impact on the emotional PedsQL scores. Patients with a fear of using public toilets, anthropometric scores below the 3rd percentile, and greater disease activity scored lower in the social domain. Regarding school and psychosocial evaluations, younger children with symptom onset after the age of 2 years had lower scores than younger children with symptom onset before the age of 2 years. Conclusion: IBD negatively affects the quality of life of children and adolescents based on its impact on the physical, emotional, social, and psychosocial statuses of these patients.

임상치과위생사의 소진과 공감피로, 공감만족 및 사회적 지지와의 관계 (The Relationship among Burnout, Compassion Fatigue, Compassion Satisfaction and Social Support of Clinical Dental Hygienists)

  • 본 연구는 임상 치과위생사를 대상으로 소진, 공감피로, 공감만족 및 사회적 지지의 관계를 파악하고 소진에 영향을 미치는 요인을 파악하기 위해 수행되었다. 연구대상은 편의 추출된 대전광역시, 충청남도 및 충청북도에 소재하는 치과병 의원에 근무하고 있는 313명의 치과위생사를 대상으로 하였으며, 자료는 구조화된 설문지를 이용하여 2013년 6월 17일부터 7월 31일까지 수집하였다. 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 연구대상자의 소진 총점은 $27.12{\pm}4.70$점, 공감피로 총점은 $28.39{\pm}3.93$점, 공감만족 총점은 $31.99{\pm}6.01$점, 사회적지지 총점은 $45.27{\pm}6.40$점으로 나타났다. 일반적 특성과 비교한 결과, 소진은 연령이 낮을수록(p=0.038), 기혼보다 미혼인 경우에(p<0.001), 임상경력이 1~5년인 경우에(p<0.001), 의원급보다 병원급에 근무할수록(p=0.002), 직급이 낮을수록(p<0.001), 급여가 낮을수록(p<0.001) 통계적으로 유의하게 나타났다. 공감만족은 기혼인 경우(p<0.001), 직급이 높을수록(p<0.001), 급여가 높을수록(p=0002) 통계적으로 유의하게 나타났다. 사회적 지지는 임상경력이 높을수록(p=0.019), 병원급보다 의원급에 근무할수록(p<0.001), 직급이 높을수록(p=0.002) 통계적으로 유의하게 나타났다. 각 변수간의 상관관계 결과, 소진은 공감피로와 정적 상관관계를 보였으나 상관성은 약하였고, 공감만족과 사회적 지지는 부적 상관관계를 보였다. 공감만족은 사회적 지지와 정적 상관관계를 보였다. 소진에 영향을 미치는 관련 변수로는 근무기관형태(p=0.031), 공감피로(p<0.001), 공감만족(p<0.001), 사회적 지지(p<0.001)로 나타났고, 이들 변수의 설명력은 56.9%였다. 결론적으로 공감피로, 공감만족 및 사회적 지지는 임상 치과위생사의 소진에 영향을 미치는 것으로, 치과위생사의 공감피로를 줄이고 공감만족과 사회적 지지를 높여 소진을 감소시킬 수 있는 인적 자원 관리의 체계적인 연구가 필요하다고 생각된다.

The Influence of Purchase Types on Happiness: A Review

  • Purpose: Previous studies have shown that consumers feel more happiness when they have experiential purchases than material purchases. This experiential advantage has aroused great concern of researchers in the field of social and consumer psychology. Focusing on this issue, the paper aims to tease out the relevant academic work and to further provide with some significant implications. Research design, data and methodology: The paper has divided the review into the following parts. Firstly, the connotation of experiential purchase and material purchase has been simply defined; Secondly, based on the logical framework of pre-factor variables, intermediary variables and regulating boundary conditions, this paper has collated the causal chain of the influence of purchases types on happiness; Finally, this paper has reviewed and summarized the shortcomings of existing studies, and have pointed out specific objectives of future research. Results: From the perspective of time utility and space form, this paper has expounded the substantive differences between the two types of purchase, which lays a foundation for the explanation of the follow-up mechanism. Moreover, the paper has mainly interpreted the intermediary mechanism from two aspects, namely, individual elements of consumers and social elements of consumption situations. Conclusions: This study expands the scope of previous happiness research and strengthens the negative events adaptation research.

개인사업자의 조세회피성향에 관한 실증분석 (An Empirical Analysis on the Disposition of Tax Avoidance by Individual Businesses)

  • The purpose of this study is to contribute to a fundamental prevention of tax avoidance behaviors by individual businesses. For the purpose, this researcher surveyed factors surveyed individual business managers' disposition(type) of tax avoidance to determine factors influencing the avoidance, and proposed direction for further studies. Several hypotheses suggested here were verified to find that factors such as tax system, tax psychology, tax knowledge, social culture and the expectation of tax avoidance had effects on individual businesses' disposition of such avoidance. The multiple regression analysis made here showed that such factors as tax psychology, tax system and the expectation of tax avoidance affected the disposition of such avoidance and that the disposition was most influenced by tax system, followed by the expectation of tax avoidance and tax psychology in order. In conclusion, factors that have positive relations with tax avoidance, or tax burden and tax administration and those that have negative relations, or tax ethics and sanction are not helpful to preventing the avoidance. This is not consistent with previous results. Now behaviors of tax avoidance by individual businesses are prevailing and becoming more serious. In this sense, objective measurement devices should be developed to make possible further scientific studies about such behaviors. For the development, support by appropriate policies is needed.

The Effect of Inclusive Leadership on the Work Engagement: An Empirical Study from Turkey

  • Motivating employee work engagement, which has emerged as one of the most significant drivers of high performance and achievement in today's dynamic environment, has become essential in gaining a sustainable competitive advantage. As widely known, leadership is a primary factor affecting work engagement. This is also directly related to a specific style of leadership exercised. Leadership styles affect the work engagement levels of the employees. The distracting nature of leadership type can have adverse impacts on individuals' behaviors. To provide a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon, this article draws on social interaction theory and social exchange theory to investigate the potential effects of inclusive leadership on work engagement within the workplace, and the mediating role of psychological safety on the relationship between inclusive leadership and the work engagement. Here, psychological safety is needed by employees to avoid and manage negative feelings. SPSS and AMOS software was applied to survey data obtained from (n = 373) employees. Results revealed that inclusive leadership is a strong predictor for work engagement, and psychological safety partially mediates the link between inclusive leadership and work engagement. Implications for theory and practice alongside limitations are discussed.

  • The way of thinking of rural residents(Izuk-myun, Anseong-gun, Kyeonggi-do) was surveyed in order to develop the basic model of new rural setlement planning. From the data collected in this survey, rural life-style, farmers' view on traditional rural life, agriculture, farming, agri-policy, social attitude, and degree of satisfaction of rural life, etc. were analyzed. Firstly, most of rural residents interviewed in this survey have the opinion of not leaving their home village if living conditions improved to a reasonable level in the near furture. In decision- making process of village affairs, they want to participate actively and equally. Secondly, in spite of their acceptance of agriculture as a vital sector destined to national security, most of them think that farming should be little of promise. Thirdly, they have the negative attitude to urban-oriented social value and also to the agricultural policy, while seeking consolation through human and traditional viewing of rural life style. Therefore, in the development of new rural settlement model, idea-making should be directed to the betterment of communal value of village life, stability of rural economy, rationalization of rural life style and enhancement of rural-type happiness.

자살로 자녀를 잃은 부모의 경험 -참척(慘慽) 고통과 화해- (Experiences of Parents as Suicide Survivors)

  • 본 연구는 자살로 자녀를 잃은 부모의 경험을 이해하고자 한 것이다. 12명의 부모를 심층면접 하였으며 속담, 소설 등의 실존적 탐구를 사용하였다. 도출된 본질적 주제는 '넋이 나감, 참척죄인, 유형의 땅과 정지된 생애 시간, 고통을 위로받고 싶음, 반쯤 꿰맨 상처로 살아지는 날들'로 드러났다. 부모로서 자녀를 지키지 못했다는 죄책감과 충격에 부모 스스로 사회적 고립화를 자처하고 자살유혹, 우울, PTSD 등의 애도반응이 나타나고 있다. 특히 문화적 특성에서 한국의 부모들은 자녀 자살의 원인을 전적으로 부모의 탓으로 돌리고, 자살은 집안체면을 깎는 부끄러운 수치라고 보며, 자살을 개인이나 집안의 문제로만 보고 있다. 이러한 결과를 중심으로 자살 고위험군인 부모들을 지원하기 위한 실천적 제언을 하였다.
