알코올성 산화적 손상에 대한 발효울금의 간세포 보호 효과 (In Vitro Hepatoprotective Effects of Fermented Curcuma longa L. by Aspergillus oryzae against Alcohol-Induced Oxidative Stress)

  • 본 연구는 발효울금 추출물에서 알코올로 유발된 산화적 스트레스에 대한 간세포 손상에 대한 보호 효과를 평가하기 위해 발효울금을 열수 추출, 냉수 추출, 80% 에탄올 추출 및 메탄올 추출하여 HepG2/2E1 세포에서 알코올과 추출물을 함께 처리 후 세포생존율을 평가하고 세포생존율이 가장 높은 냉수 추출물에서 reactive oxygen species(ROS) 함량, 항산화 지표와 malondialdehyde(MDA) 함량을 측정하였다. 알코올에 대한 간 보호 효과에서는 알코올만 처리한 군의 세포생존율이 72.8%로 감소하였으나 발효울금 냉수 추출물을 함께 처리 시에 세포생존율이 86.1%로 유의적으로 증가하며 간 보호 효과를 확인하였다. 또한, 발효울금 냉수 추출물에서 세포 내 ROS 생성 억제능은 에탄올만 처리한 군에서 무처리군에 비해 유의적으로 ROS 생성이 증가하였으나 발효울금 냉수 추출물 $100{\mu}g/mL$, $250{\mu}g/mL$, $500{\mu}g/mL$ 농도 처리군 모두 알코올만 처리한 군과 비교 시 유의적인 차이를 보이며 ROS level을 감소시켰다. 항산화 지표에서 효소적 항산화인 catalase, glutathione-S-transferase, superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase 및 glutathione reductase는 알코올만 처리한 군에서 무처리군보다 감소하였으나 발효울금 냉수 추출물 $500{\mu}g/mL$ 농도 처리군에서는 알코올만 처리한 군에 비해 유의적인 차이를 보이며 항산화 효소의 감소를 억제하였다. GSH 함량은 에탄올만 처리한 군에서 무처리군보다 유의적으로 함량이 감소하였으나 발효울금 냉수 추출물 $250{\mu}g/mL$, $500{\mu}g/mL$ 농도 처리군 모두 에탄올만 처리한 군에 비해 GSH 함량의 감소를 억제하였다. MDA 함량은 알코올만 처리한 군에서 무처리군에 비해 유의적으로 증가하였으나 발효울금 냉수 추출물 고농도 처리군($500{\mu}g/mL$)에서는 알코올만 처리한 군에 비해 유의적인 차이를 보이며 MDA 함량을 감소시켰다. 이상의 결과로부터 발효울금 추출물 중 냉수 추출물에서 알코올성 간 손상에 대한 간 보호 효과가 높게 나타나는 것을 확인하였다. 결과적으로 본 연구를 통해 발효울금을 냉수 추출하는 것은 발효울금의 알코올성 간 손상에 대한 간 보호 효과를 증대시키고 ROS 생성을 억제, 항산화 효소와 GSH 함량의 감소 억제 및 MDA 함량의 증가 억제 효과를 높이는 것으로 확인되었다. 이에 발효울금을 냉수로 처리하여 추출하는 것이 간 보호 효과를 증대시킬 수 있는 효과적인 방법이며, 이러한 방법을 통해 얻은 발효울금 냉수 추출물은 알코올로 유발된 산화적 스트레스에 대한 간세포 손상에 대한 보호 효과가 있는 기능성 소재로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 생각한다.

『동의수세보원(東醫壽世保元)』 태소음양인(太少陰陽人)의 「병증론(病證論)」에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (The Study about 「The Discourse on the Constitutional Symptoms and Diseases」 of Sasangin on the 『Dongyi Suse Bowon』)

  • 1. 연구 목적 사상의학(四象醫學)의 체질증(體質證)과 체질병증(體質病證)의 접근에는 기존 증치의학(證治醫學)과는 다른 통증(痛症)에 대한 시각을 제시하고, 사상의학(四象醫學) 고유 술어로 병리(病理)나 병증(病證)을 설명하여 기존 개념과 혼돈되며, "성명론(性命論)", "사단론(四端論)", "확윤론(擴允論)", "장부론(臟腑論)"을 통해 제시한 인간관(人間觀)과 세계관(世界觀). 이들 간의 조직 원리가 "병증론(病證論)"을 통해 몸에 구현되므로 사상의학(四象醫學)의 병증용약(病證用藥)에 어려움을 느끼게 된다. 그러나 사상의학(四象醫學)도 기존의 증치의학(證治醫學)을 바탕으로 하고 있어 기존의 의학에서 사상의학(四象醫學)이 성립되는 과정과 이제마(李濟馬)의 인간관으로 "병증론(病證論)"을 접근하여 사상의학(四象醫學)의 체질증(體質證)과 체질병증(體質病證)에 대한 정확한 이해를 돕고자 하였다. 2. 연구 방법 문헌적 구로 태소음양인(太少陰陽人)의 병증(病證)을 설명하기 위해 "상한론(傷寒論)", "활인서(活人書)" 등 인용 원서의 병증(病證) 인식(認識)과 이를 인용한 "동의보감(東醫寶鑑)"에서의 병증(病證)을 비교하고 이것이 태소음양인(太少陰陽人)의 체질증(體質證)과 체질병증(體質病證)으로 자리매김되는 과정을 파악하고 그 병리(病理)와 병증(病證)을 "동의수세보원(東醫壽世保元)"의 "성명론(性命論)", "사단론(四端論)", "확윤론(擴允論)", "장부론(臟腑論)"을 통해 드러나는 인간관의 체계로 파악하고자 하였다. 3. 결론 태소음양인의 병증론을 통해 표리병증의 인식 배경과 변화 과정 표리병증의 특징, 체질증과 체질병증의 출발점인 소증의 인식, 기존 의학과 다른 체질병증, 태소음양인의 병증의 특징 등을 살펴 사상의학 체질병증에 대한 결론을 얻어 보고하는 바이다.

${\ll}$황제내경(黃帝內經)${\gg}$ 의 심(心)의 개념(槪念)과 장상(藏象)에 대한 연구(硏究)

  • The xin(心) has various meanings in ${\ll}$Huangdineijing(黃帝內經)${\gg}$ but they sometimes contradict each other. This thesis divided the xin into the meaning and the Zang-xiang(藏象), and then analyzed the xin's notion in detail. The concept of the xin in ${\ll}$Huangdineijing(黃帝內經)${\gg}$ is sorted out into : the notion of space, yin-yang five elements(陰陽五行) and shen(神) The xin is the upper part of body and it possesses the character of yang(陽). So the concept of the breast has originated from this character and it rightly belonged to the top. The xin is assigned to fire among five elements, 'chang(長)', which has the energy of moving forward, noon at a day when yang-qi(陽氣) is properous and shows 'gu(鉤)' & 'keo(矩)' in pulse condition. The xin possesses the character, 'Taiyang of the yang(陽中之太陽)' along with the notion of space combined with five elements. That is, the notion of upper space means 'of the yang(陽中)', and, fire in five elements means 'yang'. This is similar to '=(Taiyang)' of Sasang(四象) at ${\ll}$the Book of Changes(周易)${\gg}$ Since the xin puts shen(神) in order, actions of spirit have effect on the xin. And it depends whether the sense of vitality is broad or narrow. The xin related with broad sense of spirit is 'monarch of the organs(君主之官)'. Therefore it has control over the human body. As it also directly effects the life or death, Pericardium(心句) substitutes the xin and protects the external invasion. In Shi-er-won(十二原) and Bonsu(本輸), instead of the Xin Channel the Pericardium Channel was used in healing patients. The xin can be interpretable as the mind, because the xin includes spirit. The mind can be distinguished into 'desire' and 'state of profound reason'. In ${\ll}$Huangdineijing(黃帝內徑)${\gg}$, the disease of the xin caused by emotion was mentioned many times. This emotion is 'desire' which resorted to the sentiment. The reason one mind has both character is; man preserves given principle (reason) and emotion reveals via the reason exercised. The above is about the xin related with the broad sense of vitality. Concerning the narrow sense of vitality, one of the five vitalities is stored with the others away in the five solid organs. Then it takes part in the operation of five body constituents and it is linked with the personified description of five solid organs. The xin, spleen, stomach and kidney are 'the ground of life'. Spleen and stomach are the origin of making qi and blood, which 'means the ground after birth'. Kidney keeps the essence of life, and manages the growing and generative function of human body. The xin keeps 'Shin-myung(神明)', in other words, it has control over and supervise whole activity of body. Therefore xin's role is needed for the appropriate working of spleen, stomach and kidney. And 'Shin-myung' is its motive power. In ${\ll}$Huangdineijing(黃帝內經)${\gg}$, the reason why xin was assigned to September and October is that yang-qi of the human body goes to the inner part, with xin at the same time. This explains that yang-qi of the human body is adapted to change of season and goes into xin-fire(心火) in order to get away from the cold. In this case, heart means more inner part than liver, spleen and lung. Mengzi(孟子), philosopher of the China's turbulent ages emphasized the thinking function of xin. Sunzi(荀子) asserted that xin is 'heaven monarch(天君)' and the other organs are 'heaven rninisters(天官)'. This conception is similar to 'monarch of the organs' of ${\ll}$Huangdineijing(黃帝內經)${\gg}$. After the Ming Dynasty, commentators of Huangdineijing(黃帝內經) explained the heart, as 'monarch of the organs', or 'the master of body(一身之主)'. This was due to the influence of Sung Confucianism.

가정주부의 한약에 대한 지식수준과 관련요인 (Housewives' Knowledge Level of Herb Medicine and Its Related Factors)

  • This study was conducted to examine housewives' knowledge level of herb medicine and its related factors in Korea. Data were collected from 667 housewives from April 1, 1999 to June 30, 1999. The results of this study are summarized as follows. 1. According to general characteristics of the subjects, 29.1$\%$ of the subjects was over fifties. 28.6$\%$ was primary school graduate. while 25.5$\%$ was high school graduate. In case of job, the unemployed was 67.0$\%$ and professional/clerical worker was 19.6$\%$. 82.0$\%$ had spouses and 45.7$\%$ believed in Buddha. 50.8$\%$ of the subjects lived in big cities and 76.7$\%$ was the middle class. In case of their health condition, 33.4$\%$ was in good health, while 5 1.1$\%$ suffered from certain diseases and 43.9$\%$ was not satisfied with health conditions. 2. The proportion of experience in taking herb medicine was 86.4$\%$. The marital status and health condition were significantly related to the experience in taking herb medicine. When the respondents took diseases, 68.0$\%$ of them were experienced in folk remedy. The variables of age and religion were significantly related to experience in folk remedy. 3. According to the respondents opinions of the effect of the folk remedy, 'effective' was 78.5$\%$ and 'common' was 17.6$\%$, while 'not effective' was 3.9$\%$. 59.3$\%$ of the respondents thought that the folk remedy had scientific basis. 4. In case of information sources on herb medicine, 59.7$\%$ of the respondents obtained the information from TV or Radio. 13.7$\%$ of them got it from magazines related to Oriental medicine and 13.3$\%$ of them obtained it from newspapers or related books. The information sources were significantly related to age and health condition. The knowledge level of herb medicine was 20.76${\pm}$2.66 point on the basis of 30 points. The knowledge level was significantly related to age, occupation, health condition, information sources, experience in taking herb medicine, and opinions of scientific basis of the folk remedy. 5. The respondents marked 2.23${\pm}$0.64 points on the basis of 3.0 points in the question of the effect of taking herb medicine in summer, 2.30${\pm}$0.61 points in the question of the relationship between taking deer antlers and becoming clear-headed, 2.72${\pm}$0.56 points in the question of ginseng, 2.51${\pm}$0.56 points in the question of the relationship between taking herb medicine and being harmful to the liver, 1.94${\pm}$0.74 points in the question of taking herb medicine during the period of pregnancy, 1.84${\pm}$0.78 points in the question of the relationship between menstrual irregularity and motherwort, 2.00${\pm}$0.83 points in the question of the relationship between taking herb medicine and getting fat, 1.76${\pm}$0.89 points in the question of the relationship between Ssanghwatang and cold, 2.15${\pm}$0.76 points in the question of taking honey, and 1.45${\pm}$0.77 points in the question of selecting foods during the period of taking herb medicine. 6. The factors influencing decision of taking herb medicine were experience of taking herb medicine, intention of receiving treatment by folk remedy, occupation, health condition, and age. As seen in the above results, the knowledge level of taking herb medicine during the period of pregnancy, the relationship between menstrual irregularity and motherwort, Ssanghwatang, honey, and selecting foods during the period of taking herb medicine was very low. Therefore, it is necessary to develop education programs in order to provide community residents with basic knowledge of herb medicine. In doing so, the government, Oriental medical doctors, and associations related to herb medicine must make great efforts.

신안군(新安郡) 낙도(落島)에서 발생(發生)한 괴질(怪疾)의 원인(原因)에 관한 역학적(疫學的) 조사(調査)(I) (Epidemiologic Investigation for the Etiology of an Epidemic Ocurred among Animals and Humans in an Isolated Island, Korea(I))

  • This is preliminary report on anthrax epidemic occurred in an island with about 100 residents. Since 1982 there had been sudden deaths among all kinds of domestic animals including cattle, dogs, ducks, chicken and goat but only a few among cats in an isolated island about three hours distance away by ferry boat from Mokpo city. From 1986 through 1988 nine human deaths and four patients occurred, which made the government intervene for investigation on June 25 1988. The epidemiological investigation consisted of interview survey and medical examination, medical record analysis, laboratory work to isolate the pathogens under the direction of hypothesis derived from the study and further confirmation of the pathogens by international institute. The summarized results are as followings: 1. According to the interview survey there were many deaths among domestic animals usually in cold and dry season such as January through March and September through November; 36 heads of cattle leaving one head, more than 40 hogs(all), hundreds of chicken leaving few alive, goats that had taken home from mountain and two or three cats out of around 40 had sudden deaths from 1982 till 1985, when the residents stopped to purchase and take them into the island anymore. Also there were eleven persons who had experienced the similar syndrome complex to those of admitted and expired patients and four of them revealed typical chest X-ray findings; from one of these four patients(Rho) B. anthracis is isolated. 2. Medical record on patients who had been admitted, showed common characteristics of the disease course. On admission they had either gastrointestinal or upper respiratory infection symptoms which invariably progressed to septicemic nature with pulmonary interstitial infiltration and mediastinal widening/bulging, and then to deadly acute respiratory distress syndrome. At the end stage chest X-ray revealed multiple bullous emphysema. One of another characteristics was oral ulceration with bleeding occurred in about 50% of the patients. Laboratory test results in common were leukocytosis with left shift and abnormal liver and kidney functions, particularly at the later stage of the illness. 3. Epidemiological characteristics was striking in that both mortality and incidence rates were high: the mortality rate was 8.7% average, male being three times higher than females but there was no distictive clustering by age group. The incidence rate for both sexes was 28.2% and there was no sex difference although a tendency of higher incidence among older ages was noticed. The highest mortality and incidence were observed in Won village where the first death of animal occurred and with the highest frequency among three villages of the island. 4. Among twelve bacilli species isolated from various specimens, two strains, one from patient and the other from soil where the recently died cow is hurried, were confirmed as B. anthracis by Pasteur Institute and CDC of USA(strain from soil). CDC reported that the strain did not produce capsule in bicarbonate media but reacted with the bacteriophage and one of five sera taken from the patients. Mode of transmission as well as incubation period of the agent has not been established yet, which needs further investigation in relation to the antigenic structure of the variant when it is confirmed.

영남대학교 의과대학 부속병원 외래환자에 대한 약물처방 동향의 분석 (Drugs Most Frequently Used in OPD of Yeungnam University Hospital: March to August, 1985)

  • 대구 및 그 인접지역의 질병 발생 경향을 추정하고, 영남대학교 의과대학 부속병원의 약제수급 계획을 위한 참고자료를 얻기 위하여, 1985년 3월부터 동년 8월까지 당 병원 외래에 내원한 환자들을 위하여 내려진 약물 처방을 전산 집계하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 가장 빈번히 처방된 약물로 부터 100종의 약물을 처방빈도 순으로 나열하였던 바, diazepam, aluminum compound, acetaminophen, isoniazid, metoclopramide, $polaranine^{(R)}$, carboxymethylcystein, ephedrine, codeine, caroverine (이하생략) 등의 순으로 나타났으며, 이와 같이 선정된 100종의 약물을 임상용도별로 분류하여 총 처방회수 521,855회에 대한 백분율을 조사한 결과는 다음과 같다. 중추신경계약물 (20.57%)이 가장 많았고, 다음은 위장관 및 평활근에 작용하는 약물 (18.64%), 호흡기계약물 (16.11%), 항균제 (15.12%), 심혈관 계약물 (5.64%)의 순으로 많았으며, 그 다음은 소염제 (4.33%), 단독비타민제 (3.76%), 호르몬 및 항호르몬제 (3.29%), 감기치료제 (3.12%), 이뇨제 (2.81%), 간기능이상치료제 (2.02%), 자율신경계약물 (1.89%), 항히스타민제 (1.02%) 및 소독약 (0.74%) 등의 순으로 나타났다.

한국농촌의 식품금기에 관한 연구

  • A 371 agricultural households from 26 different communities in South Korea was subjected on a study of food taboos in January of 1966. To the pregnant women, those to whom a high protein diet is particurally important, as many as 14 different kinds of foods, mostly portein rich foods, were avoided to eat. It is believed that if duck is eaten while pregnant her baby may walk like a duck in later life. Some mother have a strong aversion to the rabbit meat that her unborn baby must be a harelip. It is feared to eat chicken, shark or carp by the pregnant mother for her baby may get a gooseflesh appearance, or fish scale-like skin in later life. It is thought that if mother eats soup made of meat borns, especially chicken bones, a disfigured baby may be born. Some area informed that if mother eats crab meat her future baby will always bubble. To the child-bearing mothers 13 different kinds of foods were avoided to eat. Some believe that if raddish kimchi, soybean curd, squash are eaten while dilivery that mother may get dental decay or to lose all her teeth. Other think that highly spiced raddish kimchi cause delivery difficult. To the lactating mothers 7 different items of foods were not recommended to eat. It is a common belief that eating green vegetables, especially fresh lettuce, are restricted that her baby may stool greenish. It is said that eating ginsen-chicken soup, or ginsen tea during lactating reduces breast milk secretion. To the weaning babies 7 different kinds of foods were prohibited to fee. Eggs are not eaten because mothers think her babies will start to talk very late. Eight different items of foods in cases of gastro-intestinal diseases, 5 items for liver disease, 7 items for high blood pressure as well as for paralysis were respectively restricted. It is said that meats including pork, beef, and chicken are neither desirable for the patients of high blood pressure nor those of paralysis. To the measles children 10 varieties of foods were restricted. Especially soybean products and meats were not encouraged to use for avoiding asecond attack of measles. For the common cold 8 different kinds of foods were aversed and men think that eating of soup of undria delays a recovery. For the tuberculosis 4 kinds of foods were prohibited to eat. It is said that wine, red pepper and ginsen will stimulate lung bleeding. Many mothers had a strong aversion to fermented shrimp and fish in case of style. and 5 different items of foods were restricted. In case of menstration not so many foods were restricted as other cases, but meat soup is not eaten in this condition in some areas. Majority of food taboos in Korean villages are neither based on tribal nor religious factors. But no one knows how, since what ages, from where, these food taboos have been transmitted and spread over the country. This survey found a great variety of food taboos, aversions, traditional beliefs and prohibitions latent unknown reseasons, or non-scientific conceptions, or completely different ideas from the modern medical aspect, or somewhat fallacious and superstitious beliefs. For the vascular disease contrasting approach were found between modern the oritical therapy and popular remedy among the rural populations who largely depend on the eastern medication. Further scientific study on either side should be done to lead the patient proper way. Many restricted foods such as rabbit, duck, chicken and fish are best resources of protein rich foods which are available in the village. Emphasis should be laid upon breaking down fallacious and supersititious food taboos through the extended nutrition education activities in order to improve food habit and good eating pattern for healthier and stronger generations of Korea.

신체계측(身體計測) 및 검사소견(檢査所見)을 중심으로 한 사상인(四象人)의 특징(特徵)에 대한 분석(分析) (An analysis on the characteristics of Sa-sang constitution - centering on the body measures and diagnosis results -)

  • 연구 목적 : 사상인의 각 체질별 특성을 파악하기 위한 통계조사 연구이다. 연구 방법 : 경희의료원 동서 종합 건강진단센타에 1995년 2월 3일부터 1996년 5월 10까지 내원한 검사자들의 인구학적 특성, 21 개 검사 소견, 체질증을 중심으로 각 사상인에 따른 특성을 빈도분석, Oneway Anava검정, 교차분석을 통한 ${\chi}^2$ 검정을 실시하여 사상인에 따라 유의성있는 차이가 있는지를 살펴 보았다. 연구 결과 : 사상인 체질 진단과 체질의 특성을 파악하기 위해 196례 검사자의 체질진단을 시행하고 각 사상인에 따른 일반적 특성 신체계측 완실무병 조건인 땀, 대 소변, 수면상태, 그리고 각종 검사소견을 살펴 아래의 결과를 얻었다. 1. 196례 검사자의 사상체질 진단 결과 태음인(太陰人) 110명 (56.1%), 소음인(少陰人) 58명(29.6%), 소양인(少陽人) 28명 (14.3%)으로 태음인(太陰人)이 가장 많았고 소음인(少陰人)이 소양인(少陽人)보다 많았다. 2. 직업에 따른 사상인의 분포는 사무직, 행정직, 주부는 태음인(太陰人)과 소음인(少陰人), 연구전문직은 소음인(少陰人), 사기업 경영은 태음인(太陰人), 서비스직은 소양인(少陽人)이 많았다. 3. 각 체질 진단 설문 조사의 특성은 QSCC(I)은 다른 체질이 태양인(太陽人)으로 진단되는 경향이 높고, 1번 설문지 는 소음인(少陰人) 판정 정확율이 76.4%로 높았다. 4. 각 체질별 체질중을 살펴 보면 태음인(太陰人)은 땀이 잘 나고 소음인(少陰人)은 땀이 잘나지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 태음인(太陰人)은 식욕이 좋으며 찬음식을 좋아하고 소화가 잘되나 소음인(少陰人)은 식욕이 좋지 않고 더운 음식을 좋아하며 소화가 잘 안되는 것으로 나타났다. 5. 비만도의 검사에서 태음인(太陰人)이 비만도가 가장 높은 것으로 나타났다. 6. 고혈압자의 사상인 분포에서 수축기 혈압과 확장기 혈압은 태음인(太陰人)이 높은 것으로 나타났고, 고혈압자의 발생빈도도 태음인이 사상인(四象人)중 가장 높게 나타났다. 7. 고지혈중과 사상인 분포에서 중성지방은 태음인(太陰人)이 가장 높은 것으로 나타나 태음인(太陰人)에게 중성지방이 높은 고지혈중 발생빈도가 높았으나 총콜레스테롤은 사상인(四象人)간의 유의성 있는 차이가 없었다. 8. 간기능 효소와 사상인 분포에서 GPT, GGT는 태음인(太陰人)이 소양인(少陽人)보다 높은 것으로 나타났고 GOT는 사상인(四象人)의 유의한 차이가 없었다. 9. 초음파 검사에 의한 지방간의 발생빈도는 태음인(太陰人)이 가장 높은 것으로 나타났다.

환경온도에 대한 파랑볼우럭(Lepomis macrochirus) 젖산탈수소효소 동위효소들의 대사조절 (Metabolic Adjustments of Lactate Dehydrogenase Isozymes to the Environmental Temperature in Bluegill (Lepomis macrochirus))

  • 농어목(Perciformes) 검정우럭과(Centrachidae) 파랑볼우럭(Lepomis macrochirus)을 대상으로 환경온도에 대한 젖산탈수소효소(EC 1.1.1.27, Lactate dehydrogenase, LDH) 동위효소들의 대사조절을 연구하였다. 파랑볼우럭은 4월(그룹Ⅰ), 5월(그룹Ⅱ) 및 9월(그룹Ⅲ)에 채집하여 사용하였다. 파랑볼우럭 골격근, 심장 및 뇌 조직의 LDH 활성은 파랑볼우럭 그룹Ⅰ 및 Ⅱ보다 파랑볼우럭 그룹Ⅲ의 LDH 활성이 더 높게 나타났다. 시트르산합성효소(EC 4.1.3.7, citrate synthase, CS)의 활성은 파랑볼우럭 그룹Ⅰ에 비해 파랑볼우럭 그룹Ⅱ의 골격근 조직에서 높았고 심장 및 뇌 조직에서는 낮았다. 그에 반하여 파랑볼우럭 그룹Ⅲ 골격근의 CS 활성은 파랑볼우럭 그룹Ⅱ에 비해 낮았고 심장 및 뇌 조직에서는 높았다. LDH/CS는 그룹Ⅲ의 골격근 및 뇌 조직에서 높게 나타났다. 따라서 혐기적 대사는 파랑볼우럭 그룹Ⅲ에서 증가되었다. 골격근, 심장, 간 및 뇌 조직에서는 LDH A4, A2B2 및 B4 동위효소가 나타났다. LDH C hybrid는 뇌조직에서 확인되었다. LDH A4 동위효소는 affinity chromatography로 정제되었다. 정제된 LDH A4 동위효소의 분자량은 136 kDa이고 최적 pH는 8.0이었다. 골격근 LDH의 KmPYR값은 0.161-0.227 mM로 나타났다. 골격근 LDH의 역학특성들은 파랑볼우럭이 저온에 잘 적응한 종이라는 것을 보여준다. 이 결과들은 파랑볼우럭의 서식지 예측에 유용할 것으로 예상된다.
