More and more elderly and disabled people are using electric scooters instead of electric wheelchairs because of higher mobility. However, people with high levels of impairment or the elderly still have difficulties in driving the electric scooters safely. Semi-autonomous electric scooter system is one of the solutions for the safety: Either manual driving or autonomous driving can be used selectively. In this paper, we implement a semi-autonomous electric scooter system with functions of localization and path following. In order to recognize the pose of electric scooter in outdoor environments, we design an outdoor localization system based on the extended Kalman filter using DGPS (Differential Global Positioning System) and wheel encoders. We added an accelerometer to make the localization system adaptable to road condition. Also we propose a path following algorithm using two arcs with current pose of the electric scooter and a given path in the map. Simulation results are described to show that the proposed algorithms provide the ability to drive an electric scooter semi-autonomously. Finally, we conduct outdoor experiments to reveal the practicality of the proposed system.
In order to set the direction of providing facility for the utilization of castle heritage, as well as to establish the method for securing access and determine installation criteria in consideration of preservation environment, an analysis was carried out on the cases of having secured access for people with disabilities in England for the advanced utilization of castle heritage. As the result of the analysis, the planning factors of the facility for people with disabilities in England for the utilization of castle heritage were deduced as follows: 1) The plan for facility was focused on the disabled using wheelchairs and visually impaired persons, rather than on services for hearing-impaired persons and people with learning disability. 2) As for audience movement line plan, regular route was used for audience movement line to lead them in a single direction. 3) As for the provision of prior access information, 3 stepwise access grades were established for the facility information plan of heritage. 4) As for information service by disability type, models were provided; and complementary explanation was provided by using text, drawing, picture, video and voice. 5) Rest spaces were secured where audience could look out upon castle heritage. For the utilization of castle heritage, it is necessary to develop planning factors of the facility design for people with disabilities according to its characteristics.
Purpose: This study sought to identify the utilization and confidence in assistive technology (AT) for pediatric physical therapists (PPTs) and pediatric occupational therapists (POTs) for the purpose of improving the utilization of AT in clinics. Methods: The subjects of this study were 167 therapists (98 PPTs and 69 POTs) who work at general hospitals, welfare centers, facilities for the disabled, and special education schools in Seoul and Gyeonggi province. The frequency analysis and chi-squared test were used. Results: This study found that both PPTs and POTs recognize that AT benefits infants with disabilities; however, they show low confidence in using AT. Applications of AT are concentrated on wheelchairs for mobility and assistance with seating position, with orthotics/prosthetics for both purposes. POTs were found to use a wider variety of AT devices. While both PPTs and POTs frequently select/recommend devices, both groups are less involved with delivery methods, manufacture of devices, and education on AT use. Conclusion: These findings show the actual conditions of utilization and confidence in AT of PPTs and POTs deeply involved with AT, and emphasize that AT training is essential for pediatric treatment by comparing domestic and foreign studies.
본 논문은 터틀봇3 (TurtleBot3)를 기반으로 ROS(Robot Operating System) 환경에서 SLAM(Simultaneous Localization And Mapping)과 Navigation 기법을 적용한 사물인터넷 기반의 실내 자율주행 시스템을 제안한다.
