  • By 2050, the technologies of the fourth industrial revolution currently being discussed will become highly mature and face a turning point in human civilization. Among them, the most innovative technologies will be artificial intelligence, robots, virtual reality and hyper-connected networks. These technologies will transform not only human life but also the appearance of the battlefield. Therefore, in 2050, the Army should concentrate all its capabilities on developing new concept weapons systems based on superintelligence and hyperconnectivity that converge and integrate these technologies.

  • Hotels had main functions of providing lodging and food and beverages in the past but hotels theses days have been changing fast to satisfy changes of social paradigm. Hotels are providing various services and further more they are places to represent certain local culture by various ways including improved entertaintment factors. accommodating combined purpose, enhancing characteristics and unique factors. These new trials can be analyzed as concepts of pursuing variety, sensual expression and pursuing originality. The concept of hotel shows new trend of expressions in design by the changes. These trends of expressions can be characterized with differentiation, sameness, heterogeneity, combination and time frame. In this study, by analyzing cases that these characteristics we applied for expanding the range of understanding toward new application method and expect to be applied to appropriate design concept of hotel culture in the future.

The Dangerous Distance of Culture and Life (문화와 삶의 위험한 거리)

  • This study aims to investigate the distance of culture and life by 'The Relation-Approach.' For this, We identified the path and mechanism of importance of culture and life through the concept of respective distance and closed distance. We found that the structure of closed culture and closed life makes the distance of culture and life dangerous, which is operated as the factor of making dangerous culture and life. This fact shows that respectiveness operates in the process of converting respective distance to closed distance. Also, It was confirmed that the problem of solving dangerous distance can be established in the condition that mutual distance of culture and life can have the possibility of accomplishment. But We found the fact that the distance which is regarded as the true mutual distance having the consistence of the open condition-accomplishment in culture and life is actually operated by making the dangerous path and mechanism. In this point, We suggested the concept of 'The Multi-tier Dangerousness,' not 'The Single-tier Dangerousness.' We also found the importance of dangerousness of perception with a view to resolving dangerousness operating in culture and life. The fact that 'dangerousness of perception' produced 'dangerousness of phenomenon' was identified. Further more, We suggested that intrinsic perception is needed so as to healthy culture and life. And Open perception was emphasized to go to mutual distance beyond respective distance.

  • Light was the symbol of the city's prosperity and culture. People can walk around the city at the night time with safe. Now light is used with beauty and function at the same time. This study is the example how to draw the lighting design concept in specific city and district based on the citizen-minded survey. The citizen-minded survey makes a new chance taking the goodness and characteristics from local city specially and select the site for applying the specific opinion and requirement in the city. The expression of design concept on night landscape design gives the fresh image to the city during the night time. Because people feel the free and dynamic mood in the night landscape lighting, it is very important to set and express the design concept on night landscape design. The result of this study was applied in the Daegu city. In particular, the distribution complex's night landscape lighting in the Daegu was designed with specific concept expression from the citizen-minded survey. Making and expressing the design concept on night landscape design is basic for unity and diversity in the city.

  • Along with a rapid increase in the number of 1-person households where the concept of 1-person consumption and 1-person economy is emphasized, the proportion of 1-person household in Korea occupies a 25.3% at present, and the number is expected to grow continuously. And this rapid increase will bring about a host of problems such as housing shortage in the metropolitan area, egoism, loneliness felt by individuals, and other social problems such as crime. As an alternate movement to this phenomenon, concern on and interest in community, community culture, and sharing of space are on the rise, together with concern on and preference for sharehouse culture. In news media as well, articles on life shared with members of a sharehouse often appear. This sharehouse, which is widely spread and well received in Japan, not only reduces economic burden but also creates their own community and promotes their own culture. In this sense, it is a new way of life that represents benefits of sharing, well beyond just economic interests. Accordingly, In this research, an attempt was made tp examine the circumstances in the use of space based on existing studies on sharehouse characteristics in order to shed new lights on the meaning that non-characteristic space concept of the traditional residential space has as the concept of sharehouse space by considering it in connection with the non-characteristic space concept of the Korean traditional residential space where diverse circumstances occur centered on communal life and which were accepted by all naturally.

  • The objective of this study is to consider the concept of postmodernism and the characteristics concerning the stage of the development, and to investigate the effect of the postmodernism on the clothing. Postmodernism is the result of the late capitalism and its characteristics are the narrative, mixture and deconstruction. First, since it is impossible to express the social culture of various society through one theoretical disclosure, the novel value on the narrative is provided and its characteristics arise. Hence, the society becomes afford to accept the other and provides the novel value to the absolute sub-concept. Second, the recognization and emphasis of the narrative in the post modem society bring about the repulsion as to the strict classification between the high culture and low one established from modernism and the closure between each genre of the art, and this causes to raise the composed characteristics which borrow or mix the style and image of different age and culture. Third, the deconstructive feature arises which eliminates the boundary between the high and low class, the past and future and the destruction and construction. This means not only anther recomposition but also skeptical attitude about it.

The Change of the Concept and Meaning of Bulgogi in Cookery Book & Dictionary (문헌에 나타난 불고기의 개념과 의미 변화)

  • The purpose of this research was to investigate the transition of the concept and meaning of "bulgogi". "Bulgogi" is a representative Korean food and is also a global menu item. The first dictionary that presented the word "bulgogi" was the Keunsajeon (big dictionary). The results of an analysis of 17 dictionaries published in the last 60 years showed the immutable definition of "neobiani" as seasoned and broiled beef. In contrast, "bulgogi" has been termed differently, from "simply grilled meat of an animal" to the same meaning as that of "neobiani". Furthermore, to define the difference between common grilled meat in modern versus present time, a review of 26 cookery books from Sieuijeanseo, written in late 1800, to The Taste of Korea, written in 1987, were selected and examined. To date, the first appearance of the word "bulgogi" mentioned in a cook book was in Practice in Higher Cuisine, which was written by Shin- young Bang in 1958. The book states that "bulgogi" is the second name or the vulgar designation of "neobiani".

  • FRT design aims at high-tech vehicles of high efficiency and cleanness, it must materialize the meaning and role as new added value by applying car design aesthetics of a new future-oriented concept. In addition, different from ordinary vehicle design, FRT involves invisible factors such as pleasantness, safety, accessibility, controllability, movability, conveniency, culture, identity, brand image and fashionableness. Because FRT vehicles are transportation means used by various groups of people, they must be approached with the barrier-free design concept. Therefore, in order to enhance the potential of future transportation culture emphasizing creativity based on diversity, it is important to establish core design factors that create new added values and to apply new concepts to their roles.

  • 21 Century is said the age of cultural industry. In this cultural Industry one of very important factors which guides this times is the exploitation of cultural goods, which is based on regional identity. Therefore, at this point of time when its weighty has been raised, the aim of this study is to fill the image Korean tradition and modernity culture in them, through the search on their characteristics among regions and nations, desk the cultural service goods which gets survival power of traditional and cultural identity. Nine existing Hahoe masks are changed into nine new cultural items, which are presented the nine dreams of Hahoe masks. As consumer's choice is diversified by a set of products, main concept in this study is the focus on modernity, rationality, traditionality and popularity. The main concept of this study is on rational functions and convenience, the harmony of tradition and modernity. As said above, in the process of manufacture the mass production of goods is stressed, and by getting the composition and making a set of goods, the choice of consumers will be extended. Getting ideal globalization by the coexistence of tradition and modernity on goods, is very important. Consequently, cultural goods must be recognized as a factor of its medium, and also, on domestic cultural goods people's interest must be risen all the more.

Use of Traditional Mask Images in Design Development for Fashion-Cultural Products (전통 탈의 이미지를 활용한 패션문화상품 디자인 개발)

  • This paper developed motifs through the use of images of masks with which the Korean innate consciousness of aesthetics is expressed. The motifs were applied to fashion items. This paper investigated the concept, origin and types of traditional masks through the existing literature. Using the computer graphic programs of Illustrator and Photoshop CS2, three basic motifs were set from the images of the nobleman, Bune of Hahoi Tal and Byeongsan Tal. Each motif was extended into two motifs by changing shape and color. For the basic motif design, this study sought to express contemporary images, suitably for each fashion item, while maintaining the basic shape of the masks and their traditional images. In addition, this study set the concept of the design so that could be accepted by various age groups. For the design of handkerchiefs, a rotating array, involving enlargement, reduction, repetition, and the gradation of motifs, as well as a diagonal symmetric array, and all-over patterns were developed. The T-shirt design created here was divided into a half-sleeve box type, a round neckline sleeveless type, a V-neckline close-fitting sleeveless type, and a V-neckline close-fitting cap sleeve type. For the design of necklaces, OLED or LED, which are considered as a future display type, was used. Additionally, the production of an entertainment styled new atmosphere is proposed.
