  • An example of functional army's training wear was developed with careful considerations given to the actual user. Three steps of a functional clothing design process were followed in the design procedure. First, information on the adequacy of the current army's training wear was collected by interviews with 192 persons. Second, the current design and construction of the training wear was altered to meet the user's need from the result of the interview. Third, the performance of the newly designed army's training wear was evaluated for their effectiveness in several aspects such as conditions of the microclimate within clothing, metabolic rate, garment pressure during arm movements and appearance during body motions.

Those aspects of clothing behavior included: clothing conformity, clothing satisfaction, status symbol and occupation symbol. Perceptual orientation was measured with Choi's Perceptual Orientation Scale and job satisfaction, with some items of Miller's The Attitude Toward Any Occupation Scale. Clothing comformity and clothing satisfaction were measured with Kahng's, lung's, Koh's and Lee's questionaire. Status symbol was measured with Koh's and Lee's questionaire, and occupation symbol items were prepared for this study. The questionaire in this study were administered to 323 white-collar workers in Seoul. The statistical methods utilized Pearson'a product moment correlation, one-way ANOVA test, Duncan's multiple range test and multiple regression analysis. The results obtained from this study were : 1. Perceptual orientation was positively correlated to clothing satisfaction, and negatively correlated to status symbol. 2. Job satisfaction was positively correlated to clothing satisfaction and clothing comformity. 3. Clothing conformity, clothing satisfaction and job satisfaction showed significant differences according to occupation.

The questionnaires were administered to a sample of 243 high school boys in Seoul. The statistical analyses used for this study included relative frequency, Pearson's correlation, stepwise multiple regression. ANOVA, and t-test. The results obtained from this research were: 1) The liberal attitude of high school boys toward sex role was, in part, negatively correlated to the clothing conformity. 2) There were no significant relationships between sex role attitude ana unisex clothing behavior, and between sex role attitude and the interest in fashionable styles of clothing. 3) The unisex clothing behavior of the students was positively correlated to their interest in fashionable styles of clothing.

  • This study was to examine the effects of textiles materials and wearing types on the thermal regulation responses of human, Cotton polyester wool silk and rayon were chosen as outerwears and acetate was selected as a lining. Blouse-skirt suits blouse-slacks suits and one-piece dress made of selected textiles were examined by human trials, Tests results were as follows ; 1 When subjects wore vlouse-slacks suits Tmsk was showed the highest value. There was a significant difference on Tmsk(p<0.05) when they wore one-piece dress. The temperature of microclimate inside clothing when subjects wore blouse-slacks suits showed the highest value and one-piece dress and then blouse-skirt suits in order. For blouse-skirt suits clothing without lining showed higher temperature of the back of microclimate inside clothing than clothing with lining except cotton(p<0.1) 2. There were no significant consistency of the increasing rates of thermal insulation of garment at fabric test and human trials among polyesterand silk.

  • The purpose of this research is to provide the fundamental data about knitwear laundering and care. A questionnaire was designed and survey data was colleted from male and female consumers. Descriptive statistics, Chi-squire and t-test were conducted for statistical analysis. Results indicated that female consumers were more susceptible with 'handle with care' or 'fragile label' than male consumers. Females preferred hand washing whereas males preferred dry cleaning. Marital status of respondents did not affect awareness of care labels. Consumers considered more about stability of product shape than stain removal. Although most respondents followed proper ways to knitwear care and laundering, they felt that technical knowledge or deep understanding about washing is needed. In order to increase consumer satisfaction with knitwear products, the importance of care labels should be acknowledged.
