Network function virtualization can significantly improve the flexibility and effectiveness of network appliances via a mapping process called service function chaining. However, the failure of any single virtualized network function causes the breakdown of the entire chain, which results in resource wastage, delays, and significant data loss. Redundancy can be used to protect network appliances; however, when failures occur, it may significantly degrade network efficiency. In addition, it is difficult to efficiently map the primary and backups to optimize the management cost and service reliability without violating the capacity, delay, and reliability constraints, which is referred to as the reliability-aware service chaining mapping problem. In this paper, a mixed integer linear programming formulation is provided to address this problem along with a novel online algorithm that adopts the joint protection redundancy model and novel backup selection scheme. The results show that the proposed algorithm can significantly improve the request acceptance ratio and reduce the consumption of physical resources compared to existing backup algorithms.

Experts are concerned about the lack of troops and security vacuum due to the low birth rate in the Republic of Korea. They consider policies to expand the proportion and role of female soldiers to address these issues. In this regard, We would like to introduce the successful use of female personnel in the Ukrainian military and draw implications for the Korean military. This will provide a clue to offset the shortage of troops in the Republic of Korea.

Commanders want to receive quickly scientific and analytic results about the battlefield situation. Unfortunately, decision support system of Army Tactical Command Information System(ATCIS) is restricted to message procedures and searching function based on manual work. In this paper, we propose applying Data Mining to ATCIS for supporting rapid decision making based on the scientific and analytic method. The purpose of this proposal is to efficiently execute the tactical planning and employment of the subordinate units in order to achieve the mission.

Hyperspectral images feature a relatively narrow band and are easily disturbed by noise. Accurate estimation of the types and parameters of noise in hyperspectral images can provide prior knowledge for subsequent image processing. Existing hyperspectral-noise estimation methods often pay more attention to the use of spectral information while ignoring the spatial information of hyperspectral images. To evaluate the noise in hyperspectral images more accurately, we have proposed a spectral-spatial cooperative noise-evaluation method. First, the feature of spatial information was extracted by Gabor-filter and K-means algorithms. Then, texture edges were extracted by the Otsu threshold algorithm, and homogeneous image blocks were automatically separated. After that, signal and noise values for each pixel in homogeneous blocks were split with a multiple-linear-regression model. By experiments with both simulated and real hyperspectral images, the proposed method was demonstrated to be effective and accurate, and the composition of the hyperspectral image was verified.

A binary encoding method for grayscale images is proposed to address their unsatisfactory decryption results from joint transform correlator (JTC) encryption systems. The method converts the encryption and decryption of grayscale images into that of binary images, and effectively improves decrypted-image quality. In the simulation, we replaced unencoded grayscale images with their binary encoded counterparts in the JTC encryption and decryption processes, then adopted a median filter to suppress saturation noise while keeping other settings unchanged. Accordingly, decrypted-image quality was clearly enhanced as the correlation coefficient (CC) between a decrypted image and its original rose from 0.8237 to 0.9473 initially, and then further to 0.9937, following the above two steps respectively. Finally, optical experimental results confirmed that the proposed encryption system works correctly.

In the late 1990s, ROK Army started developing a simulation model(ChangJo21) for division/corps level battle command training and finished it successfully. The CJ2l model provides realistic representation of Korean characteristics in doctrine, weapon systems, terrain, and climate etc. The successful development of CJ2l implanted us with confidence on high-technology model development and this has been our motive for development of JeonToo21 for battalion/regiment level battle command training and other war-game models like Hwarang21 (Rear Area Ops. Model) and Vision21 (Division Combat Analysis Model). Eventually, ROK Army was able to establish M&S system by echelons, from battalion to corps. Moreover interoperability between ROK-US simulation systems are on the progress. In this paper, we introduce recently developed 3 war-game simulation models and mention on the future directions of ROK Army Modeling & Simulation.

현재 국방 선진국들은 장기적 차원에서 미래전투체계의 개발에 박차를 가하고 있다. 이에 우리 육군도 국방개혁의 연장선에서 미래전에 대비한 전투체계 개발에 역점을 두어야 한다. 먼저, 본 연구는 육군의 미래전투체계 구축에 대한 당위성을 제기하고 둘째, 미래전투체계를 구성하는 개별 전투체계에 대한 우선순위를 계층화 분석기법을 적용하여 분석함으로써 앞으로 있을 육군 FCS 관련사업의 구체적인 마스터플랜 작성에 활용될 수 있는 방안을 제시하고자 한다.

강원도 화천군에 위치한 한 군부대 장병 113명의 대변을 검사하여 간흡충(6.2%) Metnonsmw spy.(2.7%). 람블편모충(3.5%)의 감염자를 찾을 수 있었다. 이 중에서 간흡충 감염자 7명 중 6명이 경상남도 출신이었다. 경상남도 출신 16명 중 6명이 양성으로(37.5%) 다른 지역 출신(1.0%) 보다 높은 양성률을 보이는 것을 보아, 입대전에 감염되었을 것으로 추정 한다.

In the statement of logistics reliability prediction methodology, all components should be managed as the analysis objectives. However, in some reliability prediction of weapon systems, fastening parts, e.g., screws, bolts and nuts, have been frequently ignored because some organizations related to weapon systems have emphasized that those parts are not significant in their failures rate and functions. In this paper, failure rates, modes, and distributions were presented to prove that fastening parts should be included in reliability prediction objectives. Also, failure rate prediction methods of fastening parts are presented and compared.
