경관생태학적 유역관리를 위한 토지이용 유형 분류 (A Landscape Ecological Classification based on Watershed Focusing Landcover Types)

  • 우리나라는 그 동안 국토를 이용하고 관리함에 있어 생태적 계획에 입각한 지속가능한 보전 및 관리보다는 효율성과 경제성을 중심으로 한 개발지향적 논리에 초점을 맞춤으로써 국토 환경보전에 커다란 기여를 하고 있는 농경지 및 산지면적이 지속적으로 감소하고 있는 추세이다. 지역생태계의 가치에 대한 생태학적 인식이 부족한 가운데 이루어진 일련의 지속적인 개발압력은 자연환경의 자정능력을 초과하는 환경압력으로 작용함에 따라 지역생태계의 건전한 물질순환과 에너지 흐름에 부정적인 결과를 초래하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 기존의 물환경 문제해결을 위한 공간단위로서의 유역개념이 아닌 생태계를 평가하고 관리할 수 있는 공간 단위개념으로서 유역을 분석하기 위하여 다양한 경관요소가 혼재하고 있는 낙동강 유역권을 대상으로 경관구성 요소 중 토지이용을 중심으로 공간분석기법을 활용하여 서로 유사한 패턴을 보이는 유형으로 분류하고, 각 유형별 지역에 대한 특징을 분석하였다.

미래 작물생산량 추정을 위한 EPIC 모형의 국내 적용과 평가 (Assessing the EPIC Model for Estimation of Future Crops Yield in South Korea)

  • Various crop models have been extensively used for estimation of the crop yields. Compared to the other models, the EPIC model uses a unified approach to simulate more than 100 types of crops. It has been successfully applied in simulating crop yields for various combinations of weather conditions, soil properties, crops, and management schemes in many countries. The objective of this study was to estimate the rice and maize yield in South Korea using the EPIC model. The input datasets for the 30 types in the 11 categories were created for the EPIC model. The EPIC model simulated rice and maize yields. The performance of the EPIC model was evaluated with the goodness-of-fit measures including Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), Relative Error (RE), Nash-Sutcliffe Efficiency Coefficient (NSEC), Mean Absolute Error (MAE), and Pearson Correelation Coefficient (r). The rice yield showed to more high accuracy than maize yield on four type of method without NSEC. Theses results showed that the EPIC model better simulated rice yields than maize yields. The results suggest that the EPIC crop model can be useful to estimate crop yield in South Korea.

독일의 생태.문화적 마을재정비(Dorferneuerung)에 관한 고찰 (Ecological and Cultural Village Renewal in Germany)

  • Village Renewal(Dorferneuerung) Policy Program in Germany, directly originated from Rural Beutification Movement between mid 18C and mid 19C, has several characteristics as follows. First, we can find out the planned approach in land use and settlement reorganization of Pillage Renewal Program. There are three ways to designate the planning area of the village rearrangement project in countryside. One is to designate the detailed B-plan district by urban plan for the village over some size defined legally. Another is to have a living space of settlement be contained in land allotment project area. In this case, residential areas of several villages related to agricultural land consolidation should be simultaneously designated as the project area. The last is only for the built environment focused on the living space. Second, the emphasis in German village encouragement program can be made on the integral approach through which sets of policy programs of the land allotment, the living environment improvement, the physical landscape management and the cultural resources conservation are intensively implemented together. Third, the bottom-up and community participation approach can be greatly stressed on the planning and implementation process, Community participation, subsidy application to local government by residents themselves, community consensus on architectural style and outdoor spatial form, etc. have been recognized as an effective strategy to accomplish the task of village activity promotion.

Draft Genome Database Construction from Four Strains (NIES-298, FCY-26, -27, and -28) of the Cyanobacterium Microcystis aeruginosa

  • Microcystis aeruginosa is a cyanobacterium that can form harmful algal blooms (HABs) producing toxic secondary metabolites. We provide here draft genome information of four strains of this freshwater cyanobacterium that was obtained by the Next Generation Sequencing approach to provide a better understanding of molecular mechanisms at the physiological and ecological levels. After gene assembly, genes of each strain were identified and annotated, and a genome database and G-browser of M. aeruginosa were subsequently constructed. Such genome information resources will enable us to obtain useful information for molecular ecological studies with a better understanding of modulating mechanisms of environmental factors associated with blooming.

댐주변 범람지의 환경친화적 활용방안에 관한 이론고찰 (Theoretical Consideration of the Plan for Environmental-Friendly Applications of Flood Plain around Dam)

  • The purpose of this study was attempted to establish concepts of environmental-friendly applications of flood plain and to suggest the application plans. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; 1. Roles of flood plain as biotop (restoration, preservation, and creation of stream corridor ecosystem) should be considered. 2. Application methods considering environmental and scenic values should be reviewed. 3. Application methods reflecting values as regional ecological resources should be planned. 4. Preservation and application should be considered together, and obtaining a means of living for regional residents and creation of economic profits should be considered together. 5. Land application and approach method by usages (integrated management model) should be applied to utilize and manage flood plain efficiently. 6. Flood plain application programs should be designed reflecting opinions of regional residents. 7. With respect to space planning of flood plain, introduction of facilities focused on ecosystem preservation/ecosystem restoration/experiences/observation/learning/culture/ recreation/water purification could be reviewed positively.

영산강·섬진강수계 수변구역 토지매수 우선순위 산정에 관한 연구 -주암호 수변구역을 사례로 - (A Study on the Land Purchase Priority Measurement of the Riparian Areas in Yeongsan and Seomjin River Basin - Focusing on the Riparian Areas of the Juam Lake -)

  • Riparian areas are significant functional grounds for inhabiting ecological system on the river such as the self-regulation of the water quality and the foundation of important corridors. For such functional device to operate, consecutive land purchase scheme that prioritizes targeted areas with high pollutant load rate imposes sustainable development of the ecological riparian belt. The purpose of this study is focused on measuring the methodology for selecting land purchse order before establishing riparian belt in accordance with pollution loading estimation and the basin approach. The Yeongsan and Seomjin river which includes targeted areas of the land purchase have been classified into the large-medium-small(standard basin) influence areas based on their catchment rage, which than sub-divided the research area of Juam lake by 38 small basins and 223 units. Small basins with the high pollution load rates have been assessed as the first prioritized targets. For the second priority, the condition of the point pollutant sources, original area of the targets, original restored area were concerned. The final decision of the land purchase order targeted only those within 50 meter range from the basin. To validate the accumulated data, the on-site investigation went along the targeted zones, which the result shows that all prioritized areas included both point and non-point pollutant sources, and had not a small originally restored areas.

자료기반 물환경 모델의 현황 및 발전 방향 (Data-Driven Modeling of Freshwater Aquatic Systems: Status and Prospects)

  • Although process-based models have been a preferred approach for modeling freshwater aquatic systems over extended time intervals, the increasing utility of data-driven models in a big data environment has made the data-driven models increasingly popular in recent decades. In this study, international peer-reviewed journals for the relevant fields were searched in the Web of Science Core Collection, and an extensive literature review, which included total 2,984 articles published during the last two decades (2000-2020), was performed. The review results indicated that the rate of increase in the number of published studies using data-driven models exceeded those using process-based models since 2010. The increase in the use of data-driven models was partly attributable to the increasing availability of data from new data sources, e.g., remotely sensed hyperspectral or multispectral data. Consistently throughout the past two decades, South Korea has been one of the top ten countries in which the greatest number of studies using the data-driven models were published. Among the major data-driven approaches, i.e., artificial neural network, decision tree, and Bayesian model, were illustrated with case studies. Based on the review, this study aimed to inform the current state of knowledge regarding the biogeochemical water quality and ecological models using data-driven approaches, and provide the remaining challenges and future prospects.

Potential impact of climate change on plant invasion in the Republic of Korea

  • Background: Invasive plant species are considered a major threat to biodiversity, ecosystem functioning, and human wellbeing worldwide. Climatically suitable ranges for invasive plant species are expected to expand due to future climate change. The identification of current invasions and potential range expansion of invasive plant species is required to plan for the management of these species. Here, we predicted climatically suitable habitats for 11 invasive plant species and calculated the potential species richness and their range expansions in different provinces of the Republic of Korea (ROK) under current and future climate change scenarios (RCP 4.5 and RCP 8.5) using the maximum entropy (MaxEnt) modeling approach. Results: Based on the model predictions, areas of climatically suitable habitats for 90.9% of the invasive plant species are expected to retain current ecological niches and expand to include additional climatically suitable areas under future climate change scenarios. Species richness is predicted to be relatively high in the provinces of the western and southern regions (e.g., Jeollanam, Jeollabuk, and Chungcheongnam) under current climatic conditions. However, under future climates, richness in the provinces of the northern, eastern, and southeastern regions (e.g., Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi, Gyeongsangnam, Degue, Busan, and Ulsan) is estimated to increase up to 292%, 390.75%, and 468.06% by 2030, 2050, and 2080, respectively, compared with the current richness. Conclusions: Our study revealed that the rates of introduction and dispersion of invasive plant species from the western and southern coasts are relatively high and are expanding across the ROK through different modes of dispersion. The negative impacts on biodiversity, ecosystem dynamics, and economy caused by invasive plant species will be high if preventive and eradication measures are not employed immediately. Thus, this study will be helpful to policymakers for the management of invasive plant species and the conservation of biodiversity.

  • 대전광역시는 4차산업에 필요한 최고의 혁신역량 인프라(ICT)를 보유하고 있음에도 불구하고 산업생태계를 저해하는 요인들이 산재하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 4차산업혁명시대에 지역적 특성을 고려한 일자리 창출 요인을 조직생태학관점에서 접근하였다. 즉, 해외 ICT기반의 클러스터(또는 도시)를 통한 일자리창출 사례를 살펴보고, 조직생태학의 '적소', '변이', '선택', '보존'의 요인을 도출하였다. 이를 통해, 대전광역시를 둘러싼 환경과, 기존 해외 클러스터사례의 교훈을 벤치마킹하여 ICT기반 일자리창출의 '적소'를 발견하고 생태계에서 살아남기 위한 '변이'과정에 필요한 전략과 생태계에서 '선택' 및 '보존'이 될 수 있는 방안을 제시하였다. 결론적으로, 4차산업혁명도시, 혁신도시 지정, SW의 우수한 역량확보 등 대전시가 가진 강점과 명실상부한 '혁신 허브'로서의 특별시로 자리매김하기 위한 조직생태학적 접근의 전략이 필요함을 주장한다. 또한, 대전시가 가진 강점과 '혁신 허브'의 특별시로 명백히 자리매김하려면 실질적이며 생태계의 지속성을 꾀할 수 있는 전략이 필요하다. 최근 대전시가 추진하고 있는 '대전형 뉴딜정책', '대전 스타트업파크' 사업 등에 시도 해보는 것도 의미가 있으리라 판단된다. 마지막으로, 4차 산업혁명 시대에 부응하는 ICT기반 일자리 창출 연구의 희소성, 일자리 창출에 있어 지역의 중요성 인식, 지속가능한 클러스터의 조직생태학적 접근 제시 등 독창성 있는 연구로 그 동안 부족했던 선행연구에 이론적 기여가 있기를 기대한다.

백두대간의 개념적 관리범위모형 수립을 위한 접근 (An Approach for Establishing Conceptual Framework of Management Spectirum on the Baekdudaegan Area, Korean)

  • 본 연구는 백두대간의 통합적 관리를 위한 관리공간구획모형의 필요성으로부터 계획되었으며. 개념적인 백두대간의 관리범위모형을 수립할 목적으로 수행되었다 이를 위해 국.내외 공간구획 관련 이론 및 연구의 문헌고찰을 통하여 토지이용 및 관리의 범위 설정의 개념을 파악하고 이를 토대로 개념적인 백두대간관리모형 수립에 접근하고자 하였다. 제시된 관리범위모형은 탄력적 관리를 위해 백두대간의 관리범위를 적극적 보전, 완충, 다목적 이용의 세 구역으로 구분하고 있으며 이에 적합한 관리목표를 설정하여 관리하도록 되어 있다. 각 구역의 구획은 생태적 환경, 물리적 환경, 그리고 사회.문화적 환경을 대표하는 지표인자들의 평가에 의해 구분될 수 있다. 제시된 모형의 효율적인 적용은 백두대간 공간구획을 위한 적절한 지표인자의 선정 및 그에 대한 적합한 평가에 의해 좌우된다고 할 수 있다 그러므로 후속 연구를 통해 그 효율성 또는 효과성이 객관적으로 평가되어야하며 사례연구를 통해 적절한 지표인자 선정 및 평가기준의 마련에 대한 접근이 이루어져야 할 것이다
