  • From ancient to modern days, Koreans have preferred and even worshiped white clothes to the extent that they are called "the white-clad race", and the color black has seldom been used for women's clothes. In western countries too, it was only after Chanel that black color came to represent feminine beauty. Black clothes were introduced in Korea after the opening of its ports to foreign countries in 1876 and have mainly been worn as a practical clolor for winter coats and school uniforms. The traditional preference for white and other bright colors continued well into the 1980s. However, the industrialization and urbanization caused by economic development and the influx of western cultures and ideas in the 1980s brought about the westernization of Korean aesthetic consciousness and resulted in the phenomenon of modern Korean women's preference for black fashion that became conspicuous from 1991. With the introduction of western fashion after the opening of the country in 1876, the spiritual values contained in preference for white clothes have been substituted by materialistic values as people accepted the practical beauty of black fashion, and the inclination toward intrinsic natural beauty intrinsic in the aesthetic senses that preferred white clothes has been replaced by the preference for modern, elegant and sensual beauties of black fashion whose preference has begun in the 1990s.

  • Slow fashion can be viewed as an activism that provides an alternative solution to the problematic issues of fast fashion in a practical sense; however, (from a theoretical point of view) it is a fashion phenomenon arising from the criticism of an accelerating society. Slowness emphasizes the virtues of moderation. Slowness refers to the recovery of human ethics that have been neglected due to the goal-oriented nature of an accelerating society. Slowness can solve the problem of conformity and discrimination in society through pluralism and respect for local indigenousness. The characteristics of slow fashion can be defined by the aesthetic values of circularity, sustainability, moderation, expressivity and convergence. This includes the beauty of circularity (which views the relationships of all processes as organic), the beauty of sustainability (which ensures the maintenance of continuous emotions and the durability of products that can be promoted through slow processes), the beauty of moderation (which places importance on spiritual values and the moderate use of materials), and the beauty of expressivity (which plays the role of a social messenger that facilitates social assertion). These combined values present the beauty of convergence such as the harmony of local communities and the world in a blend of the old and the new with an exchange between producers and consumers.

  • This study focuses on the analysis of Baudelaire's aesthetic perspective which has established a theoretical basis on research of the critical reviews' salon exhibitions as written by Baudelaire. Charles Pierre Baudelaire(1821-1867) having lived during the latter part of Neo-classicism and the era of Romanticism and Impressionism, Baudelaire displayed opposition to customary realities such as social ideology or religious authority that suppressed human nature. Also he pioneered a new genre known as art criticism and wrote much that provided important insights on the essential elements of artistic work, modernity and trend, as well as art definition and art categories. The aesthetic perspective and creative spirit were formed by Baudelaire, during his age were also reconfirmed in the successive ages of modernism and postmodernism. As such, this study sheds light on how Baudelaire's aesthetic perspective was not only temporarily assertion but it is consistently applied to modern art and fashion area. What is more important that, Baudelaire admired new artificial beauty that is created by the human soul liberated from natural instincts or desires. Especially, informed by strangeness and distinctiveness, Baudelaire's view of fashion ran along the same vein as his view of art, and these views form the basis of that creative spirit which situated western fashion on a center of the world. In conclusion, the research on Baudelaire's aesthetic perspective will reaffirm a firm awareness of the creative spirit essential to globally-oriented creative artists and designers who work within the circumstance of the 21st century, a time when the paving of new aesthetic paths is necessary. The research also offers a clear understanding of the aesthetic values demanded by this age.

Regression results showed that if the practical and the inner-directed appearance affect perception factors among 3 appearance affect perception factors increase by one standard deviation, the social, political, aesthetic, and emotional clothing consumption values increase by each standardized efficient ${\beta}$. The effects of 8 demographic factors on 5 clothing consumption values were significant on the regression analysis, specially, occupation, monthly clothing allowance, income, and sex variables were significant, the results revealed that if the occupation factor(specialist and administrator) increases by one standard deviation, the social, political, aesthetic, and emotional clothing consumption values increase by each standardized efficient ${\beta}$. Finally, this study suggests that the 3 independent variables(talent types, appearance affect perception factors, and demographic factors) were predictors related to clothing consumption values. The higher the score, it was concluded that the independent variables were more active in clothing consumption behaviour.
