  • Comprehensive review on the determination of critical state parameters in sandy soils from standard triaxial testing was performed to facilitate the application of critical state soil mechanics to the shear behavior of sandy soils. First, semantic differences in literature were clarified, inferring that critical state should be considered as the ultimate state at large deformation. Second, the characteristics of critical state parameters were discussed, and also the uniqueness of critical state line and the sensitivity of quasi-steady state condition were verified in relation to initial state, fabric, loading condition, and drainage condition. Third, as an example, the critical state soil mechanics was applied to evaluate the post-liquefaction shear strength, i.e. the reliable ultimate shear strength in liquified soils, in terms of critical state parameters.

  • Background: With advances in diagnostics and treatment approaches, patients with Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL) in developed countries can nowadays expect to have excellent outcomes. However, information about the characteristics and outcomes in the developing world is very scarce, and this is important given the fact that there are several reports about differences of disease characteristics depending on geographic location and the development level of the country. Materials and Methods: In this retrospective study we assessed the features of 36 adult (${\geq}18$ years old) patients with HL and their diagnosis and treatment and outcomes in the Clinic of Chemotherapy of Muratsan University Hospital of Yerevan State Medical University, Armenia, between 2008-2014. Results: All patients had classic HL and among them 19 (53%) had nodular sclerosis subtype, 8 (22%) mixed cellularity and 9 (25%) lymphocyte-rich. 16 (44.5%) patients were at stage II, 13 (36%) stage III and 7 (19.5%) stage IV. Median follow-up time was 24.5 months (range 1-71 months) and during the whole follow-up period only two relapses (early) were documented and there were no deaths. Twenty-three (64%) patients received a BEACOPP (bleomycin, etoposide, doxorubicin, cyclophosphamide, vincristine, procarbazine, and prednisone) regimen, and 13 (36%) ABVD (doxorubicin, bleomycin, vinblastine and dacarbazine) regimen. A total of 25 (69.5%) patients received radiation in addition to chemotherapy. Conclusions: Although the number of patients involved in the study is small and the median follow-up time was just two years, this retrospective study shows that treatment of HL can be successfully organized in a resource-limited setting.

  • Currently, batteries use commonly as energy sources for mobile electric devices. Due to the high density of energy, the energy storage state of a battery is very important information. To know the battery's energy storage state, it is necessary to find out the open state voltage of the battery. The open state voltage calculates with a mathematical model, but the computation of the real time state is complicated and requires many calculations. Therefore, the state observer designs to estimate in real time the battery open-circuit voltage as disturbance including model error. Using the estimated open voltage and applying it to the state estimation algorithm, we can estimate the charge. In this study, we first estimate the open-circuit voltage and design an estimation algorithm for estimating the state of battery charge. This includes errors in the system model and has a robust characteristic to noise. It is possible to increase the precision of the charge state estimation.

  • In this paper, the interaction of electron and phonon in metals is expressed using Hamiltonian operator as follows. By excahnging phonon energy with in the vicinity of isotropical Fermi surface and using following electron and hole operators. We obtain the interaction of electron and phonon. And new Feynman Graphs are tried with the following conditions on. First, when state transfer state, phonon cannot be created. Second, when state transfer state, phonon cannot be destroyed. Third, when state transfer state, phonon can be created or destroyed. Fourth, when state transfer state, phonon can be created or destroyed.

  • In the 2000s, financial exclusion of low-income people emerged as a major social problem in South Korea. Microcredit business was first introduced by NGOs to help the poor overcome poverty while the Korean government soon chose to initiate microcredit policies to assist financially marginalized low-income people as a key policy measure to alleviate social inequality and revitalize economy. Unlike the initial expectation that state intervention in microcredit industry would be more effective, the outcome has been much less impressive. This paper aims to examine the poor performance of state-led microcredit in South Korea during the period of Lee Myung-bak administration by employing the concepts of state autonomy and capacity. It finds that the state autonomy, a key characteristic of a developmental state, was high in the sense that the funds had been raised in the face of strong resistance from private financial institutions. Lack of state capacity such as low technocratic expertise and politicization of microcredit policy, however, turned out to be a major stumbling block to the state-led microcredit in South Korea. This study shows that although the Korean government still has strong willingness to intervene in the financial market even in the face of interest groups' opposition, the eventual success of state action largely depends on its capacity to effectively implement financial policies.

  • This paper is intended to study the relationship between state budget revenue and economic growth in Vietnam. The ordinary least-squares regression method is used with secondary data collected from General Statistics Office of Vietnam in the period of 2000-2017. Vietnamese state budget revenue includes domestic revenue (excluding oil revenue), oil revenue, custom duty revenue, and grants. The testing result shows that the state budget revenue has a positive correlation with economic growth of Vietnam. However, the components of state budget revenue have different levels of impact on the economy. Domestic revenue and oil revenue are statistically significant and have a positive effect on the economy, while the impact of custom duty revenue and grants on the economy is invisible. Vietnamese state budget revenue should be restructured toward the sustainability and by way of boosting the economy, specifically: (1) Increase the proportion of domestic revenue to state budget revenue and domestic revenue should be based on the ground of production and business activities rather than collection from state-owned assets; (2) Reduce the proportion of custom duty revenue and grants to state budget revenue; (3) Keep the volume and ratio of oil revenue in state budget revenue at an appropriate proportion.

  • A video-work story analysis system based on emotional state measurement includes a content provision unit which provides story content of a video-work, a display unit which displays content provided by the content provision unit, an emotional state measurement unit which measures a tense-relaxed emotional state of a viewer viewing the displayed story content, a story pattern analysis unit which analyzes the tense-relaxed emotional state measured from the emotional state measurement unit according to a scene in the story content provided by the content provision unit, and a story pattern display unit which prints out an analysis result or displays the analysis result as an image. The emotional state measurement unit measures a tense or relaxed emotional state through one or more analyses among a brainwave analysis, a vital sign analysis, or an ocular state analysis. A writer may obtain support in an additional scenario modification work, and an investor may obtain support in making a decision through the above description. Furthermore, the video-work story analysis system and analysis method based on emotional state measurement may extract a particular pattern with respect to a change in an emotional state of a viewer, compile statistics, and analyze a correlation between a story and an emotional state.

  • When the generalized singular perturbation method is used for model reduction, the state variables of the original system is reconstructed from the reduced order model. The state reduction error is defined, which shows how well the reconstructed state variables approximate the state variables of the original system equation.
