  • Computer-based modeling and simulation (M&S) techniques have become an essential component in the development of new weapons systems. M&S techniques provide a means to simulate military training, strategies, military doctrines, and weapons acquisition processes. This paper proposes a small scale engagement scenario generation method. This work also includes a process for scenario generation and visualization. The proposed scenario generation methodology employs the Timed-FSA (finite state automata) and DFS (depth first search) algorithms. The proposed scenario generation method is verified using a one-on-one combat engagement scenario between two submarines. In addition, we suggest a scenario generation process including whole scenario generation and scenario visualization.

  • Some physical properties of Ni-Cr based alloy for porcelain veneering were compared after repeated casting without the addition of any new alloy. The specimen were cast in a centrifugal caster with an oxygen-propane torch at optimum temperature. The obtained results were as follows: 1. The yield strength and hardness of the second generation were no significant differences compared with first generation but the yield strength and hardness of the third generation slightly decrased. 2. The ultimate tensile strength and elongation appeared to decrease slightly in second, third generations. 3. The tensile fractured facets of the first generation specimen were normal in all specimen, but in the second generation there were six tensile specimen out of ten, in the third there were four tensile specimen out of ten.

  • The improvement of esthetic dentistry has been accelerated from the development of composite resin and dentin-enamel adhesive since 1980's. The indirect composite resin restorations have more accurate proximal contact point and occlusal form than direct restoration. And the side effect of resin shrinkage is minimal because the amount of composite used in oral cavity is limited in cement space. As a results, marginal leakage, hypersensitivity, secondary caries, and discoloration are significantly diminished. The first generation laboratory composite resin used in indirect resin restoration had been widespread in 1980's and the second generation laboratory composite resins were developed in 1990's. The second generation laboratory composite resins are called Ceramic Polymer. The physical properties of Ceramic Polymer are improved because of high content of inorganic filler, and the esthetics and biocompatibility are better than that of the first generation resin. So the application range using composite resin have been broadened. The purpose of this paper is to introduce Targis & Vectris system that is classified to second generation laboratory composite and to report several cases in which the system was utilized for restoration.

  • Studying awareness, importance, satisfaction, and wearing behavior of functional textiles for active silver generation related with gender and age is expected to contribute to clothing products development to improve and maintain their health and marketing strategy fit for user characteristics. For empirical research, a survey was developed and the aged 50 and above were 332 respondents. The results of the study are as follows. First, silver generation considered all the clothing comfort sensations important when wearing clothes, such as tactile sensation, clothing pressure sensation, thermal/wet sensation, and motion sensation in human physiological aspect. Also, stretchy fabrics were ranked first in awareness, the number of wearing times, and satisfaction of comfort functional fabrics. More than 30% of silver generation have fifteen items out of 36 functional clothes. Second, in analysis of awareness by gender on functional clothing products, women were more aware of health/safety-oriented fabrics than men were. Otherwise, men had more knowledge about the water-related properties of functional fabrics than women have, such as water/moisture absorptive and water-repellent/vapor permeable fabrics. While women have more indoor casual wear, men had more active sportswear. Also, women expressed a strong preference to the stretchy function of fabrics.

  • We have estimated power generation potential in Korea following the recently announced EGS protocol. According to the protocol, we calculated the theoretical potential first, which assumes 30 year operation, minimum temperature being surface temperature+$80^{\circ}C$, depth range being from 3 km to 10 km. In this new assessment the in-land area was digitized by 1' by 1' blocks, which is much finer than suggestion of the protocol (5'by 5'). Thus estimated theoretical potential reaches 6,975 GWe which is 92 times of the total power generation capacity in 2010. In the estimation of technical potential, we limited the depth range down to 6.5 km, assumed recovery factor as 0.14 and also counted for temperature drawdown factor of $10^{\circ}C$ following the protocol. Accessible in-land area excluding steep mountains, residence and industrial region, wet area and others covers 40.7% of total area. Finally, we could come up with 19.6 GWe for technical potential, which would be 56 GWe if we do not account for the temperature drawdown factor. These are important results in that we made the first potential assessment for geothermal power generation.

  • This study aims to analyze the effect of attitudes of Korean residents in Japan towards learning the Korean language and their motivational intensity on their Korean proficiency. Data for this study came from a survey on language use of Korean residents in Japan which was conducted in 2016, and questionnaire items referred to language attitude, language use and the degree of understanding language; language use; language learning and Korean ethnic identity. The main results are as follows. First, there were significant differences in Korean language proficiency depending on age, education levels and generation. Second, the control for socio-demographic characteristics, the influence of attitudes towards Korean language on Korean proficiency was statistically significant. However, Korean proficiency was not significantly influenced by motivational intensity. Lastly, moderated effects of immigrant generation in the relation between Korean language attitudes and Korean proficiency were significant. Therefore, the effect of Korean language attitudes on Korean proficiency was more influential on second and third generation Korean-Japanese learners than first generation Korean-Japanese learners. Based on these results, this study suggests that in order to promote Korean language education for Korean residents in Japan, it is required to build positive attitudes toward Korean language, and to consider immigrant generation as a major factor.

  • Currently, various international standard organizations, academic institutes, and private organizations are making efforts to improve and expand the traditional EDI. The next generation EDI has potential to impact on the existing and planned EDI systems. Major objective of this study is to systematically analyze and compare various next generation EDI technologies. In order to accomplish the research objective, this paper presented the following three issues. First, overall development trend and types of the next generation EDI were analyzed. Secondly, basic concepts of a few important next generation EDI technologies were presented. Lastly, models to be used to analyze the various next generation EDI technologies were proposed and results of the analyses peformed based on the proposed models were presented.

  • This paper describes the simple payback period analysis of small co-generation system based on the existing apartment and building data. First, We investigate apartment and building data more than $2000[m^2]$ using Ministry of Construction & Transportation's computer system. And then we calculate the latent amount of small co-generation system considering gas company and CHP. Second, we classify the latent amount of small co-generation system into office, hospital, hotel, department store, complex building and apartment. Finally, we perform the simple payback period analysis for small co-generation system. The results show the simple payback period of small co-generation system is less then 10 years.

  • This study introduces artificial intelligence (AI) techniques for video generation. For an effective illustration, techniques for video generation are classified as either semi-automatic or automatic. First, we discuss some recent achievements in semi-automatic video generation, and explain which types of AI techniques can be applied to produce films and improve film quality. Additionally, we provide an example of video content that has been generated by using AI techniques. Then, two automatic video-generation techniques are introduced with technical details. As there is currently no feasible automatic video-generation technique that can generate commercial videos, in this study, we explain their technical details, and suggest the future direction for researchers. Finally, we discuss several considerations for more practical automatic video-generation techniques.

  • Korea's RPS, which requires that power generation companies obtain a minimum percentage of their generation by using renewable energy, will take effect in 2012. Based on the first-year law enforcement, generation companies have to satisfy 2% of RPS compliance ratio in 2012. Then, the required RPS compliance ratio will increase up to 10% in 2022. Thus generation companies need to construct power plants that utilize various types of renewable energy sources such as PV and wind power. This work is aimed to analyze the cost of such a renewable power source in terms of capital cost, capacity factor, and fuel cost. We provide the analytical expectation on the renewable power generation cost of 2012 focusing on PV, onshore/offshore wind, fuel cell, and IGCC, which are focused by government policy.
