  • The most important device of the AGV is the guide sensor, and the typical function of this sensor is high accuracy and extraction of the road. If the accuracy of the guide sensor is low or the sensor device is extracted the wrong track, this causes the problems such as the AGV collision, track-out, the load falling due to AGV swing. In order to improve these problems, this study is proposed a signal processing method of the guide sensor based on multi-maskings and the center of gravity method, and evaluated its performance. As a result, the proposed method showed that the mean error of absolute value is 2.32[mm] and it showed performance improvement of 27[%] than the center of gravity method of existence. Therefore, when the proposed signal processing method is applied, It is thought that the posture control and driving stability of the AGV will be improved.

  • In dance sport, hip movement is the most basic and essential technique, connecting the body movements to make the body move organically, and providing an overall balance of body movements. From that perspective, this study focused on the Cucarachas movement, representing a series of efficient hip movements in the center of gravity. For the purposes of this study, 4 dance sport participants who had won prizes at international contests were selected in order to analyze such variables as the radius of gyration (shift) on the hips and the shift of the center of gravity when scapula depression was performed and when it was not. To examine differences in these kinematic variables, a paired t-test was conducted, resulting in the following findings: First, the dancers were found to be able to control scapula depression, and a significant difference was observed in the vertical axis(Z) between the times when scapula depression was performed and when it was not. Second, when scapula depression was performed, shifts in the left-right axis(X) and anterior-posterior axis(Y) were found; the left-right axis showed a greater difference than the anterior-posterior axis. Third, scapula depression was found to have an influence on the shift to the left-right axis(X) of the center of gravity.

  • Gravity study was carried out to investigate the structure and total mass of the Bupyeong silver deposits closely related to formation of the Bupyeong caldera. Survey region covers $3.3{\times}6.6km^2$ over silver deposits and is comprised of 334 gravity measurement stations. An apparent regional gravity trend parallel to the west coast line is mainly attributed to isostasy. A least square isostasy model was used for the regional correction. A Fortan subroutine was coded to calculate 3-dimensional subsurface model. The calculated gravity values from the 3-dimensional model of the caldera with silver deposits agree with observed anomalies relatively well. Gravity anomaly due to Bupyeong silver deposits reaches to +3.5 mgal from the background value and anomaly due to the caldera reaches to -4 mgal. But the maximum negative anomaly of the caldera would be much greater at its center. The total mass of silver deposits calculated from the subsurface model is $4.19{\times}10^9$ tons. Although the economic part of silver deposits depends on the grade of orebody, we expect that there are still large amount of silver reserves in Bupyeong area.

  • In this paper, longitudinal static stability is investigated, which is an essential requirement for the safety and the performance of the human powered hydrofoil boat (HPHB). In case a disturbance changes the trim angle of the boat, the derivative of the moment about the center of gravity must be negative in order to make the boat to be stable. The equation to evaluate the longitudinal static stability of the EPISODE, a HPHB of Chungnam National University with a height controlling system(HCS) is derived. From the derivative it is confirmed that a longitudinal and vertical position of the center of gravity is important for a HPHB. The range of a trim angle while the boat is foil-born was found with a HCS under the condition of mechanical restraint. And it is confirmed that the longitudinal static stability is satisfied for EPISODE in certain range of a trim angle. It is also shown that the longitudinal static stability and a range of the trim angle can be determined from the principal dimensions of a HPHB, therefore, it can be applied from the stage of the conceptual design of HPHB.

  • This study investigates acoustic characteristics of English and Korean voiceless sibilant fricatives as they appear before the three vowels, /i/, /$\alpha$/ and /u/. Three measurements - duration, center of gravity and major spectral peak - are employed to compare acoustic properties and vowel effect for each fricative sound. This study also investigates the question of whether Korean sibilant fricatives are acoustically similar to the English voiceless alveolar fricative /s/ or to the palato-alveolar /$\int$/. The results show that in the duration of frication noise, English /$\int$/ is the longest and Korean lax /s/ the shortest of the four sounds. It is also observed that English alveolar /s/ has the highest value, whereas Korean /s/ shows the lowest value in the frequency of center of gravity. In terms of major spectral peak, while English /s/ reveals the highest frequency, English /$\int$/ shows the lowest value. In addition, evidence indicates that there is a strong vowel effect in the fricative sounds of both languages, although the vowel effect patterns of the two languages are inconsistent. For instance, in the major spectral peak, both Korean lax /s/ and tense /$s^*$/ show significantly higher frequencies before the vowel /$\alpha$/ than before the other vowels, whereas both English /s/ and /$\int$/ exhibit significantly higher frequencies before the vowel /i/ than before the other vowels. These results indicate that Korean sibilant fricatives are acoustically distinct from both English /s/ and /$\int$/.

  • This paper focuses on the properties analysis of 9mm bullet dual structure core to substitute current lead core by environment-friendly combination of W-Cu-Ni system high density composite materials. So the four combination samples were made of dual core with the different center of gravity location backward or forward compare to that of lead type bullet, and we experimented about the performance of 9mm bullet dual structure core. In the experimental results, the outer shape of core of four environment friendly samples on the target maintain marginally, while the current lead core bullets are completely crushed after hitting the target. The penetration depth of environment friendly samples excel seven times to lead type bullet and the three out of four samples with forward adjusted center of gravity penetrate deep as twice as ones backward. The impact tolerance of all four samples satisfies military specification, however, more firing tests are required to improve reliability of scattering distribution.

  • This paper focuses on possibility to design and fabrication new combination of bullet core to substitute current toxic material of heavy metal such as lead by environment-friendly ones. The core is designed as dual structure to manipulate the core center of gravity easily by combining materials, which of basis is tungsten of low cost and easily acquired. Those combinations are W-M series such as W-Cu, W-Sn, W-Cu-Sn, and W-Cu-Ni to target the density of lead, $11.34g/cm^3$ through powder-metallurgy. Out of four, combination of W-Cu-Ni shows the highest compression density of 96% and is confirmed as the most suitable substitution for lead due to the excellent property of matter and sintering. All combination samples is simulated on the PRODAS software for designing and structure analysis by adjusting the center of gravity of dual core samples forward and backward. The simulations confirm the similarity of current bullet core with respect to properties of mass, aero dynamics, and flying stability.

  • This paper presents the analysis and control of the position of the COG (Center of Gravity) for a two-wheel balancing robot. The two-wheel balancing robot is required to maintain balance by driving two wheels only. Since the robot is not exactly symmetrical and its dynamics is changing with respect to moving parts, robust balancing control is difficult. Balancing performance becomes difficult when two arms hold a heavy object since the center of gravity is shifted out of the wheel axis. Novel design of a sliding waist mechanism allows the robot to react against the shift of the COG by moving the whole upper body to compensate for the imbalance of the mass as a counter balancer. To relocate the COG position accurately, the COG is analyzed by force data measured from two force sensors. Then the sliding COG mechanism is utilized to control the sliding waist position. Experimental studies are conducted to confirm the proposed design and method.
