  • Polyurethane(PU) materials have been generally used in the automobile, paint, furniture, adhesive, and textile industries. The use of Waterborne PU was motivated form the environmental point of view, i.e. reduction of solvent emissions into the atmosphere(volatile organic compounds, VOC)[1]. Generally speaking, phase change materials (PCM) have the capability of absorbing or releasing thermal energy to reduce or eliminate heat transfer at the temperature range of the particular temperature stabilizing material[2].   • Hollow fibers have been used in rather different fields of general textile use and in special-purpose products because of their unique structure. Hollow fibers have profitable properties for some applications because of their large surface/volume ratio. In this paper, dyeing properties of nylon hollow fiber were investigated. Nylon regular fiber and hollow fiber were used in the dyeing experiment. The samples were dyed with three kinds of acid dyes. Effects of dyeing temperature, pH of the dye bath, and dye concentration on dyeing properties were examined.

  • Now in the 21st century, all the industries in our world are rapidly changing, including fashion trends and customers' needs as well. Fashion textile planning is also developing towards the direction where it could satisfy the merged sensitivity and incentive of the customers through an idea. The purpose of this study is to accentuate the importance of fashion material planning in fitting conventional patterns and eco-benign fabric materials. Accordingly, this study is mainly focused on the reflection of fabric planning characteristics to show tradition containing comfort and naturalness. As mixing with established fabrics and blending with natural/functional fabrics, and conforming to the trend of the seasonal fabric, it has developed a new structure and pattern by changing the basic source of traditional patterns to a computer aided design system. Therefore, four different types of items were basically up-graded by fitting it in with traditional patterns.

석면슬레이트 제조 및 석면방직사업장 근로자의 석면분진폭로 (Worker Exposure to Asbestos Fibers in Asbestos Slate Manufacturing and Asbestos Textile Industries)

  • Two asbestos slate manufacturing and seven asbestos textile plants in Korea were surveyed from May 20 to July 2, 1987. The purposes of this study were to evaluate 1) worker exposure to asbestos, 2) compliance to the standards and 3) the efficiency of existing local exhaust systems. Sixty-two personal samples and eighty-three area samples were collected and analyzed using "NIOSH 7400" method. Results of this study were as follows. 1. The asbesots exposure concentrations in asbestos textile plants were 1.3 - 14.3 fibers/cc(geometric mean(GM), 4.4 fibers/cc). 2. Worker exposure level to asbestos fiber in asbestos slate manufacturing industry was 0.21 fibers/cc during wet processing, which is below the Korean Standard of 2 fibers/cc. 3. Most local exhaust systems installed in asbestos textile plants were inadequately designed. 4. Ninety-six percent of the 145 samples exceeded the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) of 0.2 fibers/cc and forty-nine percent of the samples exceeded the Korean Standatd of 2 fibers/cc.

m-Aramid Films in Diverse Coagulants

  • m-Aramid dissolved in N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc), were coagulated in different coagulants such as water, methanol, ethanol, propanol and butanol. Various concentrations and temperatures of the coagulants were also used to evaluate dyeing properties of coagulated m-aramid films. Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) was employed to investigate the surface morphology of m-aramid films. Wide angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD) was conducted in order to measure crystallinity change of mcaramid fibers and films. WAXD patterns showed that crystallinity of m-aramid fibers was reduced after film formation. In addition, color depth (K/S value) was measured and the results revealed that the film coagulated in water possessed fairly enhanced color depth.

  • Casein, a milk protein is used in food, paper, leather and textile industries. The milk casein fiber was developed 1935 first. The strong point of milk casein fiber, the contraction is fewer the wool when washing and damage of harmful insect is smaller than wool.[1] But proteins are the major category of natural polymers that are difficult to be processed into fibrous forms. This is because of their complex macromolecular and three-dimensional structures as well as strong inter- and / or intra molecular forces.[2] (omitted)

소규모 섬유업종의 산업재해 특성 및 예방 (Characteristics and Prevention of Occupational Accidents in the Small-Sized Textile Industry)

  • In this study 1,079 occupational accident reports were used to examine the characteristics and causes of occupational injuries in the small-sized textile companies with less than 50 employees. These data were analyzed in terms of age of injured person, work experience, accident type, injury type, and agency of accident. The results show that there are some patterns: (1) injuries occur more frequently in the 40~49yr age group; (2) about half of all accident occurred during the first year of employment; (3) there is a higher percentage of sick people leaving in the 29~90day range; (4) 'caught in and between objects' represents the leading accident type; (5) the most common type of incidence is related to the machinery; (6) 'lower back injuries' is the leading type of occupational disorder. These results can be used to develop more effective accidental occupational injury prevention programs for small-sized textile industries.

  • Differential dyeing technologies for wool are discussed in one bath dyeing of cationic compound treated wool and untreated wool. By increasing the concentration of cationic compound to wool the k/s value of wool and the color difference (ΔE) between treated and untreated one become higher in one bath dyeing. The proper concentration of cationic compound to wool was 2% in one bath dyeing since the dyeing fastness became lower according to the increase of the concentration.

  • o Korea consumed total 198.5 million TOE and the portion of crude oil n was 100.4 million TOE in 2002 which marked the 10th largest energy consuming country and ranks the $4^{th}$ crude oil consumer in the world. o Industries consumed 51.5% of the total energy and 93% of industrial energy was used at the manufacturing industries such as steel, textile, chemical, food and beverage, pulp and paper, and timber industries, which lead to energy intensive industries numbered 110,000. o Also Korea ranks the $10^{th}$ greenhouse gas emission countries of the world (134.9 million TC) which may cause Korean industries to suffer severely during the implementation of United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). o Therefore, the target of the study is to develop a model for the analysis and design of industrial complex by integration of the energy usage and environmental problems. o The research work contents are as followings: -Analysis of Korea energy consumption -Concept of the integration of energy and environment problems - Basic concept of industrial complex planning - Case study (1) - Recommendation and conclusion
