A Use of Extended Use Cases and Hierarchical State-Based Testing Methods for the Testing of Object-Oriented Information Systems (객체지향 정보시스템의 테스팅을 위한 확장된 유스케이스의 사용과 계층적 상태 기반 테스팅 방법)

  • Object-oriented development methodologies require consistent and seamless object-oriented paradigm to be applied from analysis to testing. Testing must focuses on the state of aggregated objects. This paper suggests testing methods that satisfy such requirements. In order to confirm appropriate implementation of the user requirements, the methods apply extended use case[Jacobson et al., 1992] that are prepared form analysis stage. Testing must be performed based on the use cases because the user requirements are formally documented in the use cases. The notations of the original use case are modified for the state-based testings. The testing methods consist of a unit testing and four-level of integration testing. Particularly, the level 0 testing is based on FREE state machine [Binder, 1995, 1996]. The testing methods have been applied to 3 projects and proved their practicability.

Bayes factors for accelerated life testing models

  • In this paper, the use of Bayes factors and the deviance information criterion for model selection are compared in a Bayesian accelerated life testing setup. In Bayesian accelerated life testing, the most used tool for model comparison is the deviance information criterion. An alternative and more formal approach is to use Bayes factors to compare models. However, Bayesian accelerated life testing models with more than one stressor often have mathematically intractable posterior distributions and Markov chain Monte Carlo methods are employed to obtain posterior samples to base inference on. The computation of the marginal likelihood is challenging when working with such complex models. In this paper, methods for approximating the marginal likelihood and the application thereof in the accelerated life testing paradigm are explored for dual-stress models. A simulation study is also included, where Bayes factors using the different approximation methods and the deviance information are compared.

  • In this paper, the evaluating test methods of the fire and the electric shock on the Electric pad using the house is proposed. We analyzed electric pad using magnetic shielded type hot wire because electric pad using the magnetic shielded type hot wire generally be used in the home. We analyzed FMEA in order to analyze the mechanism of the fire and the electric shock of the electric pad and designed testing methods (Durability tests on the environment, Mechanical durability tests, Electrical durability tests) obtained through the two-step QFD and tested. We verified the evaluating test methods of the fire and the electric shock on the Electric pad using the house through the analysis of the test results.

  • The design functionality put forward by mapping the interactiveness of information. The presentation of such information with the user interface model indicates that the guidelines, concepts, and workflows form the deliverables and milestones for achieving a visualized design, therefore forming the right trend is significant to ensure compliance in terms of changing consideration and applying evaluation in the early stages. It is evidenced that prototype design is guided by improvement specifications, includes modes, and variables that increase improvements. The study presents five user interface testing methods. The testing methods are heuristic evaluation, perspective-based user interface testing, cognitive walkthrough, pluralistic walkthrough, and formal usability inspection. It appears that the five testing methods can be combined and matched to produce reasonable results. At last, the study presents different mobile application designs for student projects besides the evaluation of mobile application designs to consider the user needs and usability.

  • Software testing during development and operation should exercise to obtain the desired software quality and leave failure data set. So far, many software reliability models are classified and can be used to measure a software reliability only based on its failure history But, in practice, developers or testers of software systems must decide which existing software reliability model can be fitted. In this paper, we will show that an appropriate reliability model can be selected by considering relations between characteristics of each testing environment and models' assumptions. Several methods of software testing are presented and discussed. Also, unit test, integrated test, function test and system test that are sequentially exercised during development will be introduced.

  • Next Generation Space Telescope (NGST) is under design study for proposed launch around 2008. It will take over the task of Hubble Space Telescope (HST) and provide much more detailed information about celestial objects. Present large telescopes both in space and on the ground contain aspheric mirrors, called Ritchey-Chretien type. As the size of the telescope becomes larger and the optical quality is requested to be higher, reaching the diffraction limit, more accurate optical testing methods are required. However, there are few testing methods which can achieve the required accuracy for aspheric optics, and none of them has achieved it with certainty. The failure of producing the primary mirror of the Hubble Space Telescope to meet specification is a good example. Moreover, testing aspheric mirrors of large convex form adds the difficulty to extreme. In this paper, space telescopes and large ground-based telescopes are surveyed and testing methods for aspheric optics are reviewed. a method of testing aspheric convex mirrors is suggested.

  • Purpose: Although the development of bulletproof helmets continues to be carried out, little has been improved in testing methods. Therefore, in this study, we studied the improvement of the test method of the domestic bulletproof helmet. Methods: The causes of head damage in the battlefield and the trends of bulletproof helmet development in developed countries were analyzed. In addition, improvements were derived by comparing the test methods of bulletproof helmet in Korea and the United States. Results: The results of the improvement by comparing the test methods of bulletproof helmet in Korea and the United States are as follows First, it is an addition to the scope of environmental treatment. Second, it is an addition to the level of protection. Third, the addition of the level of protection by impact. Conclusion: This study considered testing methods to prevent head injuries to shocks that cannot be identified by conventional methods. In addition, it considered testing methods for various threats by improving protection performance to advanced countries' levels.

  • Over 100 countries have conducted research on experimental testing methods to assess the frost susceptibility of soils. This study aims to prevent structural damage caused by frost heave. Notably, the United States and Japan, which encompass cold regions such as Alaska and Hokkaido, have actively pursued frost heave research. Through laboratory investigations and field applications, standard testing methods and criteria for evaluating frost susceptibility have been established. However, these methods are complex and their engineering explanations are vague. This study closely compares and analyzes the frost-susceptibility testing methods proposed by ASTM and JGS, considering temperature conditions, specimen size, freezing direction, and drainage conditions. By conducting this comparative analysis, this study aims to shed light on the similarities and differences between the two methods. Furthermore, based on the findings, this study proposes future research guidance for refining frost-susceptibility testing methods and criteria.

  • Increase of the requirements on quality of welded structures necessitates the improvement of known inspection methods and the introduction of progressive new techniques. Non-destructive methods are the most advanced, but there are considerable difficulties in using the methods of radiography with electromagnetic rays and ultrasonic testing in the inspection of dissimilar metal friction welds, because their physical and mechanical properties are changed very rapidly at the interface. The values of simple mechanical test for dissimilar metal friction welds have always been dubious, as the strength of the bond is often greater than that of the softer materials being jointed. Thus, in this paper some conventional mechanical testing methods are examined in an attempt to determine a technique for dissimilar metal friction welds, which will give a reliable quantitative indication of the weld quality. From the considered static and dynamic testing methods the impact bending test on unnotched and notched specimens are the most sensitive to find out the small joining defects in the interface.
