As technology advances swiftly and the lifespan of products becomes increasingly short, there is a demand to fasten the pace of research outcomes, product development, and market introduction. As a result, the researchers and developers need a computational experiment environment that enables rapid verification of the experiment and application of research findings. Such an environment must efficiently harness all available computational resources, manage simulations across diverse test scenarios, and support the experimental data collection. This research introduces the design and implementation of an experimental frame based on a microservice architecture. The experimental frame leverages scripts to utilize computing resources optimally, making it more straightforward for users to conduct simulations. It features an experimental frame capable of automatically deploying scenarios to the computing components. This setup allows for the automatic configuration of both the computing environment and experiments based on user-provided scenarios and experimental software, facilitating effortless execution of simulations.
The objective of this study was to construct the spring-mass models for the car-to-car offset frontal impact crash. The SISAME software was utilized to extract the spring-mass models using the data from the offset frontal crash test. The spring-mass model of the passenger car could effectively approximate the crash characteristics for the offset frontal barrier impact and the car-to-car offset frontal impact scenarios.
Purpose: To evaluate undergraduate nursing students' ability in clinical competence, critical thinking, and problem solving following enrollment in a clinical reasoning course. Methods: A clinical reasoning course utilizing a human patient simulator and scenarios was offered to 22 senior students at a College of Nursing in Seoul. Students' clinical competence was measured with a checklist of 15 items by analyzing students' performance recorded on video tapes for eight scenarios. Critical thinking disposition and problem solving were measured by a self-administered questionnaire before and after the course. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results: The high scored items of clinical competence were: 'obtain relevant subjective/objective data', 'interpret vital signs', 'communicate with healthcare providers', and 'utilize standard precautions including handwashing.' Students' critical thinking and problem solving scores following the course were increased with statistical significance. Conclusion: A clinical reasoning course utilizing a human patient simulator creates a realistic clinical environment for nursing students and provides the opportunity to obtain clinical competence, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.
BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) has been extensively used for communication between mobile applications and wearable devices in IoT (Internet of Things). In developing Android applications, wearable devices, on which the applications can run, should be available because the existing Android SDK does not support any BLE emulation facility. In this study, we have designed and implemented the first Android BLE emulator. Using this, we are able to develop and test BLE-based Android applications even when without wearable devices. We have also proposed an automatic generation method of Android BLE scenarios based on graph model. We have shown that the method is useful for systematically testing BLE application protocols by running the generated scenarios on the Android BLE emulator.

The objective of this study is to devise an accident scenario analysis method adept at creating accident scenarios at the Preliminary Hazard Analysis(PHA) step of a hazard analysis for railway system. This approach was inspired by the Quality Function Deployment(QFD) method, which is conventionally used in quality management and was used at the systematic accident scenario analysis(SASA) for the design of safer products. In this study, the QFD provides a formal and systematic schema to devise accident scenarios while maintaining objective. The accident scenario analysis method first identifies the hazard factors that cause railway accidents and explains the situation characteristics surrounding the accident. This method includes a feasibility test, a clustering process and a pattering process for a clearer understanding of the accident situation. Since this method enables an accident scenario analysis method to be performed systematically as well as objectively, this method is useful in building better accident prevention strategies. Therefore, this study can serve to reduce railway accident and be an effective tool for a hazard analysis.
The Urban Transit Standardization Program has been supported by the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs. The Program consists of dozen or more projects and thus is quite complex, which implies that the program success heavily depends upon the effective management of various artifacts during the development. Particularly, in the complex systems development, developing and managing requirements is very important throughout the whole system life cycle. The requirements can be the basis of the design changes to be made later as well as the test and evaluation to be performed in the subsequent stages of the systems development. As such, the derivation of the system's requirement based on the needs from the customers, or stakeholder in a broad sense must be done properly. In particular, notice that the system is being developed but the system requirements are not fully available for some reasons. To complement this situation is the purpose of the study. To derive proper requirements effectively in the process of development, this paper proposes to draw up scenario using the output of the system under development and to utilize the use case diagrams and operational scenarios.

Purpose: This was a cross-sectional descriptive study in which an exploration was done of how nursing students perceive debriefing and what they think are the most effective debriefing methods for simulation-based nursing education. Methods: A convenience sample of 296 sophomore, junior and senior nursing students from three universities and who had attended simulation classes participated in this study. Survey data garnered was analyzed using descriptive analysis and $x^2$ test. Results: A high majority of the participants (98.3%) saw debriefing as "learning from mistakes", while 62.8% considered it more important than simulations/scenarios. They also perceived debriefing to be effective when they analyzed their colleagues' and their own performances and received feedback. Sophomore students preferred writing a reflection paper as an effective debriefing method compared to junior and senior students. Conclusion: The study findings indicate that debriefing is an important component of simulation-based education and should be considered part of the teaching strategies with debriefing methods dependent on themes and scenarios and what is needed to achieve learning outcomes.
In this paper we will propose a domain analysis methodology that uses an extended workflow mechanism based on dynamic modeling to solve problems of a traditional domain analysis on legacy systems. This methodology is called WODA(Workflow Oriented Domain Analysis). Following procedures on WODA, we can identify common/uncommon component, and also extract the cluster of components. It will be effectively reusable on developing new systems with these components. With our proposed component testing metrics, we can determine highly reusable component/scenario on identifying possible scenarios of the particular system. We can also recognize most critical/most frequent reusable components and prioritize possible component scenarios of the system. This paper contains one application of UPS that illustrates our autonomous modeling tool, WODA.
Research to discuss the fire performance of materials requires tools for measuring their burning characteristics and validated fire growth models to predict fire behavior of the materials under specific tire scenarios using the measured properties as input for the models. In this study, burning characteristics such as time to ignition, weight loss rate, flame spread, heat release rate, total heat evolved, and effective heat of combustion for four types of wood-based materials were evaluated using the cone calorimeter and inclined panel tests. Time to ignition was affected by not only surface condition and specific gravity of the tested materials but also the type and magnitude of heat source. Results of weight loss rate, measured by inclined panel tests, indicated that heat transfer from the contacted flame used as the heat source into the inner part of the specimen was inversely proportional to specific gravity of material. Flame spread was closely related with ignition time at the near part of burning zone. Under constant and severe external heat flux, there was little difference in weight loss rate and total heat evolved between four types of wood-based panels. More applied heat flux caused by longer ignition time induced a higher first peak value of heat release rate. Burning characteristics data measured in this study can be used effectively as input for fire growth models to predict the fire behavior of materials under specific fire scenarios.
News shows often deliver crosscutting information to their audiences by inviting commentators from rival political parties. If these news shows foster the formation of informed and balanced views of the audience, mass media could provide countermeasures against political polarization. To test the effect of such news shows, this study conducted an experiment with two variants of a simulated radio talk show. In the partisan scenario, the two guest commentators' affiliations suggested their ideological orientation. In the non-partisan scenario, the commentators had neutral affiliations. We divided participants into two ideology groups, liberals and conservative, and compared each group's evaluation of the commentators in the two scenarios. Two multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) tests were conducted to analyze the effect of the perceived ideology of the commentators on respondents' attitudes toward the commentators' arguments depending on their own ideological inclinations. The analyses results did not support the hypothesis that anticipated partisan attitudes towards the commentators' arguments. It was only the liberal respondents who showed statistically significant different attitudes toward commentators' arguments in each of the two scenarios. The findings suggest that such broadcast shows do not automatically trigger partisan message processing and may help the audience to develop informed and balanced opinions. While the current study failed to find conclusive evidence to support the hypotheses, it also found that the perceived ideology of the information source may trigger partisan attitudes for certain types of issues. Future studies with different experiment designs are needed to investigate the issue further.
