High performance fiber-reinforced cementitious composite(HPFRCC) encompass a wide variety of cementitious composites whose behavior in tension is significantly more ductile than that of traditional fiber-reinforced concrete. Fibers in HPFRCC are increasingly being used for the reinforcement of cementitious matrix to enhance the toughness and energy absorption capacity and to reduce the cracking sensitivity of the matrix. In the past decade, HPFRCC have evolved with intensified research. HPFRCC for structural applications has been developed under the performance driven design approach. It is the aim of this study to obtain development of HPFRCC using polyvinyl-alcohol fiber(PVA). It was targeted a requirement of economic mixing and apply to structure member.

In this study, we fabricated Bi-2223/Ag high temperature superconducting tapes using PIT (Powder-In-Tube) process to apply the superconducting magnet, cable and etc. It's inevitable to deform the superconducting tapes with axial strain for application. Therefore, for the characterization of the strain sensitivity of the superconducting properties, the degradation of Bi-2223/Ag tapes due to axial strain were investigated by measuring the critical current as a function of applied tension strain and external magnetic field. The critical current of Bi-2223/Ag tapes were decreased slightly up to 0.3∼0.4% applied strain but, drastically decreased more than these strains. Superconducting filament cores consisted of brittle ceramic fibers were broken easily by the large strain and current path were decreased simultaneously.
This paper describes the process of levitation melting of metals in an axisymmetric induction heating system. This process has advantages of low heat losses, heating with short times and clean operating conditions. The shape of molten metal is determined using sensitivity analysis and optimization technique. Electromagnetic, gravitational and surface tension energies are considered, and these energies are used as an objective function in optimization process. Electromagnetic field are calculated using the finite element method. The fact that volume is constant in the process is also considered as an equality constraint.
In this study, numerical study of a long, straight, side-anchored floating bridge with discrete pontoons subjected to combined earthquakes and waves is conducted. Ground motions with magnitude corresponding to 200 YRP (years return period) earthquake in South Korea are generated based on the spectral matching method from a past earthquake record in California. Several sensitivity studies are carried out for bridge end condition, for different site classes (hard rock S1 and soft and deep soil S5), and for three different excitations (earthquake only, wave only, and earthquake-wave combined). Bridge and pontoon motions, bending moments along the bridge, and mooring tensions are systematically examined through coupled time-domain simulations by commercial program OrcaFlex. The numerical results show that the impact of earthquakes on floating bridges is still of importance especially for soft soil although ground motions are less directly applied to the structure than fixed bridges.

A simple experimental method was used in an attempt to realize the elevation of the fishing ability of purse seine in the sea area of Cheju Island, the changes of seine volume and tension in the purseline during pursing. Experiments carried out on the six types simplified reduced model seines which were made of knotless nettings. The nettings were woven in different leg length 4.3, 5.0, 5.5, 6.0, 6.6 and 7.7mm of polyester 28 tex two threads two-ply twine, and each of the seines were named I, II, III, IV, V and Ⅵ seine. Dimension of seine models were 450cm for corkline and 85cmfor seine depth, each seines rigged up 160g of float for a floatline and 50g (underwater weight) of lead for a leadline. These model purse seines were made of the scale of 1/200 of its full scale, a 120 ton in the near sea of Cheju Island. Designing and testing for the model purse seines were based on the Tauti's law. Experiments were measured in the observation channel of a flume tank at the static conditions set up shooting and pursing equipments. Motion of purse seine during purse line was recorded by the two sets video camera for VTR which were placed in top and front of the model seine. The reading coordinate of seine volume carried out by the video digitization system, disk data for the purseline tension. An analysis were performed on the changes seine volume and tension in the purseline during pursing. The results obtained were as follows: 1. The seine volume during pursing was largest for Ⅵ seine with smallest d/l followed by V, IV, III, II and I seines, and tension in the purseline was small. 2. Seine volume during pursing can be expressed by the following equation; CVt=l-EXP[{2.79 (d/l)+0.35}t-33.37 (d/l) + 0.57] Where CVt is volume ratio, d is twine diameter, l is leg length and t is pursing time (sec). 3. Tension in the purse line during pursing can be expressed by the following equation; T= 1- EXP {0.57t + 13.36 (d/l)+2.97} Where T is tension (kg) in the purseline during pursing.

Laser shock peening(LSP) is an innovative surface treatment technique, and it has been successfully used to improve the fatigue performance of metallic components. It is widely known, that cracks caused by metal fatigue occur only at the location where the metal is subject to tension, and not at the location where the metal is subjected to compression. Therefore, LSP can be employed to improve fatigue life because it generates a high-magnitude compressive residual stress on the surface and interior of metallic components. In this study, we analyzed the applicability of the LSP method in improving fatigue performance and evaluated the various parameters that influence the compressive residual stress. Further, we analyzed the change in the mechanical properties such as surface dynamic stress and the compressive residual stress on the surface and interior of metallic components.

In this study is stress behavior of steel support structure is to identify basic research. Steel stress due to load step to determine the behavior of steel using strain gauge steel loading test was performed. Numerical analysis and steel loading test using strain gauge on the actual steel stress behavior was analyzed. First, when tensile loading 3.5tonf load side of the plastic behavior appeared. Elastic model, using numerical analysis and comparison of results, the actual value is saved and you can see some difference. This repeated loading tests on steel can be seen from the results of the stress behavior of the steel rather than the elastic behavior of elastic-plastic behavior is because you can see. In addition, the upper and lower steel stress in compression and tension behavior represents the behavior was similar, but different. Steel loading test results, Y-axis get a compression if X-axis is tension. The future based on this study, the stress sensitivity curve of magnetic anisotropy sensor for non-destructive stress measurement technique for the study will be performed. And the behavior of plastic zone and residual stress to determine the numerical analysis using non-elastic model is needed.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the physical and mental health status of foreign migrant workers in Korea, and to provide basic data for assessment of industrial Nurses, and to contribute to the improvement of their health status. There were 108 workers who participated in this study. They lived in Seoul and the capital region and the data were collected from 11th August to 23th, 1996. The C.M.I. was utilized for the study. The results obtained by this study were as follows: Digestive system and Inadequacy have the largest portion of the physical and mental illness respectively. With regard to physical and mental illness ac cording to the gender, the frequency of illness experienced by women was higher than men in Genitourinary system and Sensitivity. By ages, there were significant differences between those in their 20's and 30's and in their 40's, particularly Ears and Eyes system. There were significant differences in mental health illness according to educational levels. The middle school graduate group had more health ill ness than the group with higher than high school education in Anxiety. There were significant differences in the rate of job satisfaction. The dissatisfied group had more health illness in Eyes and Ears, Miscellaneous diseases, and Inadequacy. The lower the rate of working condition satisfaction, the higher the frequency rate of physical and mental health illness (Eyes and Ears, Musculoskeletal system, Nervous system, Frequency of illness, Habits, Total physical section, Inadequacy, Depression, Anxiety, Anger, Tension, Total mental section) By the accessibility of health services, the group who has respond to difficult had more health illness in Frequency of illness, Anxiety, Anger, Tension and Total mental section. There were significant differences in the reason of difficulty of health services use concerning Eyes and Ears and Miscellaneous diseases. The most important factor to explain the satisfaction of job and working condition was the satisfaction for supervisor.
The aim of this study was to clarify the mechanism of the inhibitory action of carbon monoxide (CO) on contraction, by measuring cytosolic $Ca^{2+}$ level $([Ca^{2+}]_i)$ and ionic currents in guinea-pig ileum. CO (10%) inhibited 40 mM KCl-induced contraction and this effect was blocked by ODQ $(1\;{\mu}M),$ a soluble guanylyl cyclase (sGC) inhibitor. CO inhibited the 40 mM KCl-induced contraction without changing $[Ca^{2+}]_i.$ Cumulative addition of KCl induced a graded increase in $[Ca^{2+}]_i$ and muscle tension. In the presence of CO, cumulative addition of KCl induced smaller contraction than in the absence of CO. On the other hand, the increase in $[Ca^{2+}]_i$ induced by cumulative addition of KCl was only slightly decreased in the presence of CO, and the $[Ca^{2+}]_i-tension$ relationship shifted downwards. Using the patch clamp technique with a holding potential of -60 mV, we found that CO had little effect on the peak Ba currents $(I_{Ba})$ when voltage was stepped from -60 mV to 0 mV. In addition, CO showed no effect on the depolarization-activated outward $K^+$ currents in the all potential ranges. We conclude that CO inhibits smooth muscle contraction mainly by decreasing the $Ca^{2+}$ sensitivity of contractile elements via a cGMP-dependent pathway, not by involving L-type $Ca^{2+}$ and outward-potassium currents in guinea-pig ileum.
The effect of loading variables and temperature on fatigue crack growth rate in SA508 Cl.3 nuclear pressure vessel steel was investigated in air environment Crack growth rate tests on compact tension specimen of thickness 12mm were conducted by using sinusoidal waveform. The crack length was monitored by compliance method. Test conditions were at 0.1 and 0.5 of load ratio, at 1 and 10 Hz of loading frequency, and at room temperature to 40$0^{\circ}C$. At the lower temperatures, the fatigue crack propagation was not affected by the frequency and temperature, while at the higher temperatures above 12$0^{\circ}C$, fatigue crack growth rate increased with decreasing loading frequency and increasing temperature. This accelerated fatigue crack propagation was associated with the increase of oxidation rate at the ahead of crack tip. Fatigue crack growth rate increased with in-creasing the load ratio. The effect of load ratio was more significant at the lower temperature, while the dependence on load ratio decreased with increasing temperature. The sensitivity of load ratio to temperature can be explained by crack closure with the oxidation process.
