  • Parkinson's disease (PD) is a chronic degenerative disorder of the central nervous system. It has no cure, but current treatments can relieve symptoms and maintain quality of life. As PD progresses, controlling its symptoms becomes difficult. Here, we present the treatment of two patients with idiopathic PD using traditional Korean medicine (TKM) and temporomandibular joint balancing therapy (TBT). We measured the progress of the two patients using the unified PD rating scale (UPDRS) and the Hoehn and Yahr (HY) scale. Combined treatment of TKM and TBT decreased the total UPDRS score from 52 to 26 after 21 days in case 1, while it decreased the total UPDRS score from 91 to 65 after 20 days in case 2. In both patients, the HY scale score was maintained at 3, and no adverse events were observed. Thus, the combined treatment of TKM and TBT can produce a treatment response in PD patients.

  • This case is intended to present the effectiveness of TMJ balance therapy, which normalizes the yin-yang balance of the cranial nervous system, including the meridian system. Temporomandibular joint balance therapy was performed on growing children with occlusal abnormalities, and clinical results were measured through specific observation of height and weight. The patient showed improvement in deep bite and satisfactory increase in growth after treatment. From these observations, it can be inferred that temporomandibular joint balance therapy has a positive effect not only on the brain nervous system but also on the action of pituitary hormones. For a more accurate evaluation, clinical and biological research on temporomandibular joint balance therapy (TBT) is needed.

  • This case is witten for presenting the effect of the TMJ balancing therapy using the TMJ balancing appliance which normalizes the yin and yang balance of the brain-nervous system including the Meridian system. The balancing appliance was used in patient with cervical dystonia, and clinical outcome measurements were performed through clinical observations in specific movement and actions. The patient displayed positive changes after the treatment and the effect was well-maintained during the treatment period. For the more precise evaluation, clinical and biological studies of temporomandibular balancing therapy (TBT) are needed.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to report the effect of Korean medical treatment with Temporomandibular Joint Balancing Therapy (TBT) on Tic disorder patient with nausea and vomiting. Methods: In this study, Tic disorder patient with nausea and vomiting was treated by Korean medical treatment (acupuncture, herb medicine, etc.), including Temporomandibular Joint Therapy from Feb 28th, 2023 to Jul 10th, 2023. Yale Global Tic Severity Scale (YGTSS) and visual analogue scale (VAS) were used for measuring the Tic disorder and accompanying symptoms. Results: After 32 sessions treatment, the YGTSS decreased from 67 to 0, and VAS associated with Tic disorder, nausea and vomiting also decreased 6 to 0 and 8 to 0 respectively. Conclusions: These results showed that Korean medical treatment with Temporomandibular Joint Balancing Therapy could improve Tic symptoms with nausea and vomiting. But further studies will be needed.

  • There are many studies that show the association between Parkinson's disease and temporomandibular joint disorder. However, no clinical studies have yet been reported that TMJ Banlancing Therapy (TBT) can treat Parkinson's disease. In this study, the applicability of TBT for the treatment of Parkinson's disease was investigated by reviewing several studies on the factors related to Parkinson's disease and temporomandibular joint disorder and clinical studies of patients with Parkinson's disease using conventional oral appliances and exercises. In summary, it is considered that TBT has a high potential for use in the treatment of Parkinson's disease, but it is thought that prospective clinical research is needed in the future to establish objective evidence related to this.

  • The purpose of this case report is to introduce a case of immediate results with TMJ balancing therapy (TBT) in the treatment of chronic patellofemoral pain (PFP). A 17-year-old female patient with 4-month-old chronic knee pain that was unresponsive to conventional treatment was treated with TBT for a total of 5 sessions. The primary outcomes were evaluated using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) and the Korean version of the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (KWOMAC). Following the first treatment, the NRS decreased rapidly, and the KWOMAC improved after a total of five treatments. These findings suggest that TBT can be an effective pain management option for chronic PFP patients with temporomandibular joint malposition. However, as this study is a report of a single case, further research is necessary.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to report the effect of Korean medical treatment with Temporomandibular Joint Balancing Therapy (TBT) on Tic disorder patient who often glancing up when feels nerves, frightened or tired. Methods: In this study, Tic disorder patient was treated to △△ Korean medicine Hospital from June 12nd, 2022 to July 26th, 2023 by outpatient way. During the clinic period, the patient was treated by Korean medical treatment (acupuncture, cupping, herb medicine), especially using TBT. YGTSS (Yale Global Tic Severity Scale), NDI (Neck Disability Index) and VAS were used for measuring the Tic disorder and neck pain. Results: After treatment for 46 days, the YGTSS showed a decrease from 17 to 3, the VAS associated with Tic disorder also decreased from 6 to 1 and NDI associated with neck pain decreased from 7 to 4. Conclusions: These results showed that Korean medical treatment especially using TBT may have an effect on reducing symptoms of Tic disorder and neck pain. But the further researches are needed.

Methods: In this study, an Anxiety disorder patient with dyspnea was admitted to △△ Korean medicine Hospital from Nov 1st, 2022 to Nov 23rd, 2022. During the admission period, the patient was treated by Korean medical treatment(acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, herb medicine, etc.), especially using TBT and Western medical treatment (Pharmacotherapy). Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) and VAS were used for measuring the Anxiety and Dyspnea. Results: After treatment for 30days, the BAI showed a decrease from 33 to 19, The VAS associated with dyspnea also decreased from 6 to 1 and VAS associated with Neck Pain decreased from 5 to 3. Conclusions: These results showed that Korean medical treatment especially using TBT may have an effect on reducing symptoms of dyspnea due to Panic Attack. But the further researches are needed.
