Experimental Study was carried out for benzene desorption by purge gas or evacuation in an activated carbon bed. As purge gas flow rate increased, desorption rate increased due to the higher interstitial linear gas velocity. For various purge gas flow rates, desoption curves almost got together if they were plotted against dimensionless time. At a higher flow rate, mass transfer zone became narrower. Temperature drop in the bed was more fast and severe at higher flow rates and higher outer temperature. It was found out that desorption was almost completed when the temperature in the drop of the bed returned to the initial temperature before temperature drop. Desorption by vacuum purge was completed in shorter time than desorption by purge gas. Countercurrent purge was more effective than cocurrent purge.
High velocity, gas-assisted liquid drop trajectories were investigated under well-controlled experimental conditions at elevated gas densities and room temperature. A monodisperse stream of drops which are generated by a vibrating-orifice drop generator were injected into a transverse high velocity gas stream. The gas density and air jet velocity were adjusted independently to keep the Weber numbers constant. The Weber numbers studied were 72, 148, 270, 532. The range of experimental conditions included studied the three drop breakup regimes previously referred as bag, stretching/thinning and catastrophic breakup regimes. High-magnification photography and conventional spray field photographs were taken to study the microscopic breakup mechanisms and the drop trajectories in high velocity gas flow fields, respectively. The parent drop trajectories were affected by the gas density and the gas jet velocities and do not show similarity with respect to the either Weber or the Reynolds number, as expected.
The evaporation pressure drop of $CO_2$ (R-744) in horizontal tubes was investigated experimentally. The experiments were conducted without oil in a closed refrigerant loop which was driven by a magnetic gear pump. The main components of the refrigerant loop are a receiver, a variable-speed pump, a mass flow meter, a pre-heater and evaporator (test section). The test section consists of a smooth, horizontal stainless steel tube of 7.75 and 4.57 mm inner diameter. The experiments were conducted at saturation temperature of $-5^{\circ}C\;to\;5^{\circ}C$, and heat flux of 10 to $40kW/m^2$. The test results showed the evaporation pressure drop of $CO_2$ are highly dependent on the vapor quality, heat flux and saturation temperature. The pressure drop measured during the evaporation process of $CO_2$ increases with increased mass flux, and decreases as the saturation temperature increased. The evaporation pressure drop of $CO_2$ is very lower than that of R-22. In comparison with test results and existing correlations, the best fit of the present experimental data is obtained with the correlation of Choi et al. But existing correlations failed to predict the evaporation pressure drop of $CO_2$. Therefore, it is necessary to develop reliable and accurate predictions determining the evaporation pressure drop of $CO_2$ in a horizontal tube.

The heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics associated with the gas cooling of the supercritical carbon dioxide in a horizontal tube have been investigated experimentally. This problem is of particular interest in the design of a gas cooler of cooling systems using $CO_2$refrigerant. The test section is consisted of 6 series of 455 mm in length, 4.15 mm ID copper tube, respectively. The effects of the inlet temperature, pressure and mass flow rate on the heat transfer and pressure drop of $CO_2$in a horizontal tube is studied in detail. The heat transfer coefficient of $CO_2$is varied by temperature, inlet pressure, and mass flow rate of $CO_2$. This has maximum value at near the pseudocritical temperature. The pressure drop is changed by inlet pressure and mass flow rate of $CO_2$. The results have been compared with those of previous work. The heat transfer correlation at the supercritical gas cooling process is also suggested.
The uniform gas distribution between anode channels of the indirect internal reforming type molten carbonate fuel cell (MCFC) is crucial design parameter because of the electric performance and the durability problems. A three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis is performed to investigate flow characteristics in the anode channels and manifold under different pressure drop and channel temperature conditions. The combined meshes consists of hexadral meshes in the channels and polyhedral meshes in the manifold are adopted and chemical reactions inside the MCFC system are not included because of computational difficulties associated with the size and geometric complexity of the system. Results indicate that the uniformity in flow-rate is in the range of $\pm$ 0.048 % between the anode channels when the pressure drop of anode channel is about 150 Pa. A gas flow-rate uniformity decreases as the pressure drop of anode channels decreases and as the temperature difference between indirect internal reforming (IIR) channels and anode channels increases.
The present study has been conducted to develop a heat pump system using river water of temperature energy which not only belongs to unutilized energy but is a kind of good heat source due to maintain its temperature in a certain degree regardless of seasonal variation. The system did not meet the proposed performance after setup. In this paper, the system performance affected by refrigerant Oil, by pressure drop, or by other factors has been discussed. The followings were obtained : (1) Refrigerant Oil mixture rate was 2.5 in weight percentage, (2) Pressure drop through evaporator was 29.1kPa($3.1^{\circ}C$ in saturated tempearture) (3) Pressure drop from the end of evaporator to compressor inlet was 39.8kPa($4.0^{\circ}C$ in saturated tempearture). (4) The system performance can to be improved by modifying a part of pipe line to compressor, and reducing pressure drop through heat exchangers.
This paper present the temperature control of aluminum plate using Peltier element. Peltier effect is heat pumping phenomena by electric energy as one of the thermoelectric effect. So if current is asserted to Peltier element, it absorbs heat from low temperature side and emits to high temperature side. In this experiment, Peltier element is used to control the temperature of small aluminum plate with ON/OFF control scheme and fan ON/OFF. As the result of experiments, it is proper to act fan only while cooling duration and there exist a proper cooling current to drop temperature rapidly. It takes about 100sec to increase to 7$0^{\circ}C$ and drop to 35$^{\circ}C$ of aluminium plate temperature and about 90sec to increase to 7$0^{\circ}C$ and drop to 4$0^{\circ}C$ in ambient temperature 3$0^{\circ}C$ while fan is on only in cooling duration. Future aim is to realize more rapid temperature control and develop SMHA(special metal hydride actuator) by using Peltier element to heating and cooling.
An experimental study was peformed to measure the viscosity of microencapsulated PCM slurries as the functions of its concentration and temperature, and also influence to its fluid dynamics. For the viscosity measurement, a rotary type viscometer, which was equipped with temperature control system, was adopted. The slurry was mixed with water and Sodium Lauryl Sulphate as a surfactant by which its suspended particles were dispersed well without the segregation of particles during the experiment. The viscosity was increased as the concentration of MicroPCM particle added. The surfactant increased 5% of the viscosity over the working fluid without particles. Experiments were proceeded by changing parameters such as PCM particles'concentration as well as the temperature of working fluid. As a result, a model to the functions of temperature for the working fluid and its particle concentration is proposed. The proposed model, for which its standard deviation shows 0.8068, is agreed well with the reference's data. The pressure drop was measured by U-tube manometer, and then the friction factor was obtained. It was noted that the pressure drop was not influenced by the state of PCM phase, that is solid or liquid in its core materials at their same concentration. On the other hand, it was described that the pressure drop of the slurry was much increased over the working fluid without particles. A friction factor was placed on a straight line in all working fluids of the laminar flow regardless of existing particles as we expected.
In this study, analysed the characteristics of power drop and surface damage in solar cell through high temperature and humidity test in the 3 case of EVA(ethylene vinyl acetate) and 2 case ribbon thickness. The solar cells were tested during the 500hr in $85^{\circ}C$ temperature and 85% relative humidity conditions, that excerpted standard of PV Module(KS C IEC-61215). Through the EL(Electroluminescence) shots, specimen's surface have partialy damaged. Before and after high humidity and high temperature test, ribbon thickness $200{\mu}m$ EVA1 case power drop rate was 8.463%, EVA2 case was 6.667%, EVA3 case was 6.373%. In the ribbon thickness $250{\mu}m$ EVA1 case power drop rate was 6.521%, EVA2 case was 8.517%, EVA3 case was 6.019%. EVA3 case was the lowest power and FF(fill factor) drop rate at the 2 case of ribbon thickness, because EVA3 is laerger than EVA1 and EVA2 in thickness, elongation and tensile strength.
