  • Laparoscopic gastrectomy has become widely used as a minimally invasive technique for the treatment of gastric cancer. When it was first introduced, most surgeons preferred a laparoscopic-assisted approach with a minilaparotomy rather than a totally laparoscopic procedure because of the technical challenges of achieving an intracorporeal anastomosis. Recently, with improved skills and instruments, several surgeons have reported the safety and feasibility of a totally laparoscopic gastrectomy with intracorporeal anastomosis. This review describes the recent technical advances in intracorporeal anastomoses using circular and linear staplers that allow for totally laparoscopic distal, total, and proximal gastrectomies. Data that demonstrate advantages in early surgical outcomes of a total laparoscopic method compared to laparoscopic-assisted operations are also discussed.

Subjects of this surveys were 310 participants of agricultural training programs developed by the Rural Development Administration for u-turn farmers in 1997 and 1998. According to major findings, many participants were faced with problems such as financial shortage, deficiency of farming skills, difficulty of marketing, new neighbours unfavourable gazing and farm labour shortage. These problems could be classified into the problems at their preparing stage and the problems of adjusting stage in their farms. And also the participants suggested that educational programs for them contain knowledge based teaching and technical practices with focus on their problems solving. With their suggestion various knowledge and technical modules were selected. Using these module several kinds of long and short-run educational programs could be developed.

  • A decade ago, the technology of strengthening structures using FRP composites was primitive, with very few publications. Nowadays, the potential growth of research is achieved to the wide recognition of the importance of this new technology. In fact, significant practical applications have been preceded and the development of design methods have been achieved. However, the specific design methods for each applications are still lack of design skills in spite of the wide applications of FRP composites in the construction industry. The purpose of this paper is to report the development of design methods for FRP-strengthened structures by technical review design methods and guidelines of fiber reinforced composites.

  • The characteristic aspects of learning a foreign language require special resources and tools for online learning. Criteria for choosing educational platforms depend on key elements of an academic subject area. Microsoft Teams (hereafter, MT) educational platform is competitive one because it meets most of the needs that arise during the formation of a secondary linguistic persona. Due to the large number of corporate programs, there are a successful acquisition of language skills and the implementation of all types of oral activities of students. A significant MT advantage is the constant analysis and monitoring of the platform of participants' needs in the educational process by developers. The article highlights MT advantages and disadvantages. The attention is drawn to individual programs, which, in the authors' opinion, are the most successful to learn writing, reading, speaking, listening, as well as organize classes that meet needs of modern foreign students.

  • Poor working conditions in the construction industry have made young people reluctant to enter it, resulting in supply/demand unbalance of construction skilled worker. Currently, most construction workers in Korea acquire skills through apprenticeships. Against this background, this study aimed to identify problems in apprenticeship-based methods of technical education, and to suggest measures that could improve these methods. As a measure to improve current apprenticeship-based methods of technical education, technical education needs to be regularly provided on construction sites, and each construction company needs to issue a certificate to workers confirming their completion of technical education. It is also necessary to establish a system in which this certificate is recognized as education experience. In addition, it is recommended to form partnerships with construction technology education institutes supported by the government in order to provide construction workers with opportunities to receive new technologies and construction methods free of charge, and it is urgently necessary to establish and implement a policy to adequately support their cost of living during this period.

  • While graduates of Japan's technical high schools might demonstrate skills in a given specialty, they would be hard-pressed in any attempt to pass national universities' notorious entrance examinations. In a collaborative effort begun in 1994, the faculties of engineering at Niigata, Nagasaki, and Toyama Universities set about the task of preparing entrance examinations, and a general curriculum geared to the needs and educational backgrounds of these students, offering them supplementary lessons. While the larger project officially ended in 1999, we are carrying the research forward in Niigata University.
