Technical Overview on the Electron Backscattered Diffraction Sample Preparation

  • A technical overview on the various sample preparation methods for electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD) analysis is carried out. The mechanical polishing with colloidal silica finish, electro-chemical polishing, dual layer coating and ion beam milling are introduced for the common sample preparation methods for EBSD observation and some issues that are frequently neglected by the common EBSD users but should be considered to get a reliable EBSD data are discussed. This overview would be especially helpful to the people who know what EBSD technique is but do not get a reliable EBSD data because of difficulties in sample preparation.

  • 본 논문에서는 언제 어디서나(유비쿼터스) 빠르게 지정간 수송을 가능하게 해주며 현재 의 자동차를 대체할 수 있는 개인용 항공기, 즉 PAV(personal Air Vehicle)에 대하여 요구 조건을 살펴보고, 기존의 고속 회전익기 개념과 현재 진행 중인 고속회전익기 개발사업을 개괄적으로 검토하여, PAV 적용가능 플랫폼으로서 고속 회전익기 개념 및 기술적 이슈를 탐색하였다.

  • In order to improve the speed of conventional Korean lines, the amendment of speed related regulations is required as the introduction of Korean tilting train. Therefore, an extensive review of UIC leaflets on speed was performed in the areas of tilting train, rolling stocks, operation, civil infrastructures, etc. The review was mainly achieved through the overview of parameters directly related with speed of railway. Moreover, a summary of UIC leaflets on speed and tilting train was provided for a better understanding of speed related UIC CODE. Through the technical overview of UIC CODE, necessary information on the amendment of current Korean speed regulations could be provided.

  • We provide a brief overview of the area of speaker recognition, describing underlying techniques and current market review. We describe the techniques mainly based on GMM(gaussian mixture model) that is the most prevalent and effective approach.   • High-speed railway is important transportation in the world because it is very comfortable, environmental benefits, energy savings, etc. The increase of demand for high-speed railway influence to develop of new hish-speed trains. Many countries introduced new high-speed train in the market. It meets to the market's needs. They adopt new technology and systems like that active suspension, synchronous permanent magnetic motor, distributed drive system, aero acoustics, etc. In Korea, the project for R&D of new high-speed train is launched last year. We need analysis of technical trend of new high-speed trains in the world. This paper presents a overview of technical trend of new high speed trains and what is key issues in development of high-speed train. It is very useful to develop a next generation high-speed train in Korea.

  • This paper describes an overview of technology and research of dam and levee in Korea. In order to trace the development of dam and levee construction technology, history of design and construction of them is briefly reviewed, and their statistics including type, number and purpose of those hydraulic structures in Korea are dealt with. Furthermore, current status of research on the mentioned structures is also reviewed based on the papers published in Korean societies such as Korean Society of Civil Engineers and Korean Geotechnical Society. Finally state-of-the-art equipment and technology to investigate the safety conditions, and hence to enhance or rehabilitate their stability and dam and levee systems, respectively, are introduced here.

Overview of Bitstream Syntax and Parser Description Languages for Media Codecs

  • This paper reviews various bitstream syntax and parser description (BSPD) languages used in MPEG multimedia standards. Traditionally, the bitstream syntax and semantics have been described in human-readable form. Several languages have been developed to describe the bitstream syntax using a computer-readable language and allow the automatic generation of bitstream parsing function from the description. The languages were designed for different objectives and applications but have a range of commonalities in functionality. The aim of this paper is to provide a historical overview of BSPD languages. The background and target application of the BSPD languages are reviewed. In addition, the technical features of each languages, including the linguistic basis (e.g., XML-based) and parser generation method, are discussed and evaluated. In addition, previous studies based on each language are introduced and categorized according to their objectives. Finally, the relevant technical issues that suggest the direction of the future researches are reported.
