  • The field of power system harmonics has been receiving a great deal of attention recently. This is primarily due to the fact that non-linear (or harmonic-producing) loads comprise an ever-increasing portion of what is handled at a typical industrial plant. The incidence rate of harmonic-related problems is low, but awareness of harmonic issues can still help increase offshore power plant system reliability. On the rare occasion that harmonics become a problem, this is either due to the magnitude of harmonics produced or power system resonance. This harmonic study used an electrical configuration for the offloading scenario of a Floating LNG (FLNG) unit, considering power load. This electrical network configuration is visible in the electrical network load flow study part of the project. This study has been carried out to evaluate the performance of an electric power system, focusing on the harmonic efficiency of an electrically driven motor system to ensure offshore plant safety. In addition, the design part of this study analyzed the electric power system of an FLNG unit to improve the safety of operation and maintenance.

  • Generally, in the train area, switch tracks have required high reliability because this system is directly associated with derailment. Especially, switch tracks of Maglev vehicles must be moved in terms of the whole geometric characteristics, in which the bogies are encased in the switch track. For this reason, switch track was constructed with steel lighter than concrete girders. But, the steel switch track was weak because of structural vibration as well as structural deformation. Therefore, it is important to predict the levitation stability when a vehicle passes over flexible switch track. The aims of this paper are to develop a coupled dynamic model to describe the relationship between a Maglev vehicle and switch track and to predict the levitation stability. In order to develop the coupled dynamic model, a three dimensional vehicle model was developed based on multibody dynamics; a switch model was made using the modal superposition method. And, the developed model was verified using comparison measured data.

  • UIC Codes 714R & 715R recommend the use of line classifications and their usage in maintenance work by employing notional traffic loads. However, the classification has not been applied to local lines and, therefore, a new line classification system based on UIC 714R has been proposed in this study. For this, various classification models of UIC, Germany, and UK have been studied first and equivalent traffic loads based on Korail's report, as well as on train timetables, have been derived. The results of the classifications have been compared with those of major European countries and it has been shown that the proposed classification is equivalent to the average value in the European cases. The line classification can be fully utilized during the decision making process of maintenance work and will also be used to model the Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) in the future.

  • This study was done to determine the relationship between the anxiety levels of hospitalized psychiatric patients and various influencing variables. The purpose of this study was to determine factors that may help hospitalized psychiatric patients to experience lower levels of anxiety in relation to changing situations and provide the basic data for a dynamic approach which is important in the field of modern psychiatric nursing that understands and analyses the meaning of patients behavior. The anxiety may produce stress, which is a common experience among all human beings. Patients may merely feel uncomfortable in the state of mild anxiety, however, the severe state could be an obstacle to treatment and recovery from disease. The anxiety of the psychiatric patient is a factor which greatly influencing the patient's behavior, so his disorderd behavior is an expression of defence or pathologically fixed behavior. According the psychiatric patient's anxiety at the time of admission is the concern of the health team. The nurse's special concern has to do with understanding and supporting the patient and meeting his individual needs by frequent close contact during the entire hospitalization period, compared to other teamembers the nurse's responsibility in this regard is greated. So this study emphasizes the necessity of creating conditions these, but above all the psychiatric nurse should create a therapeutic environment by not only regarding the patient's behavior or symptoms but understanding the meaning of them. The subjects of this study were 57 psychiatric patients selected from the K neuropsychiatric hospital located in Kunsan city. • The purposes of this study were to develop an instrument to measure high school students' systems thinking and to validate the scale. The scale of systems thinking was made up for 5 factors - systems thinking, mental model, shared vision, personal mastery, and team learning through analyses of related literature. Six items per factor were constructed and the scale consisted of a total of 30 items for the pretest. After exploratory factor analysis, the number of total items was reduced to 20 items. For the main test, 280 students were sampled from high school and analyzed valid cases were 260 students. The finding of the exploratory factor analysis indicated 5 factors in the model, and 4 items per single factor. The result of confirmatory factor analysis was generally appropriate and acceptable (5 factor model: $x^2/df$=1.275, TLI=.946, CFI=.959, RMSEA=.033). The reliability for 20 items turned out to be reliable because the Cronbach's alphas were .840 and .604~.723 per each factor. This study should be expanded to various school levels and should be standardized for further research. The subsequent studies regarding diverse learning program development and implementation and the verification on the students' impact within the developed program can be recommended.

  • The corporate make an effort to improve organizational committment and the degree of employees' satisfaction(internal customer satisfaction). And If it's possible, it enhance competitive advantage of organization for external customer satisfaction. But in fact, the external customer satisfaction and competitive power is made by the complex function between leader support and organizational support in organization. Those hypotheses has been supported by the study of many scholars. Nevertheless the reliability in the results is not to be enough for certain conclusion. Therefore this study investigated the influence of organizational support and leader support(as a independent variable) on commitment(as a mediating variable) and citizenship(as a dependent variable). The result indicated that employees who perceive a high degree of organization and leader support show a high committment to organization in affection and positive OCB. Also the result showed that high committment to organization in affection enhance the relation between organizational support, leader's support and OCB(organization citizenship behavior) Implications for managers in organizations are suggested.

  • Various devices have been developed to the measurement of particulate matter pollutants, and Optical Particle Counter (OPC) that can be easily and quickly measured is widely used lately. The measured value by OPC is converted to weight concentration using the correction factor (CF). The calculation of CF is very important to improve the reliability and accuracy of OPC. In this study, the CF calculation study of light scattering laser photometer (model 8533, TSI) was carried out to measure in the atmospheric environment using 2 gravimetric devices and 3 light scattering laser photometer devices. Regression analysis and Tukey tests were used to significance the test of measurement devices. Measurements were carried out twice. There was a comparative analysis of measurement data between light scattering laser photometer and gravimetric devices in 1st measurement, and then the Evaluation of PM2.5 concentration corrected by CF performed in 2nd measurement. As a result of the significance analysis between light scattering laser photometer and gravimetric devices, the correlation between the same method was high, but the correlation between different methods was low. CF was calculated as 0.4258 based on the measurement results, and it is a similar level to previous studies at home and abroad. It is expected that these results can be used as basic data in the future study for air quality measurement research using light scattering laser photometer. Also, in order to improve the accuracy of the measurement techniques and the development of technology in the atmospheric environment, CF calculation research should be conducted continuously.

  • Background : It is increasing the concern for patient satisfaction as a customer information. This study was planned to investigate the activities related to patient satisfaction survey at the Korean hospitals. Methods : We performed the nationwide survey on 235 general hospitals by using the self-administrated checklist from Sep. 9 to Oct. 9, 1996. The response rate were 50.2%. We analyzed the descriptive statistics and chi-square test by SAS software on 118 hospitals. Results : First of all, 62.7% of study hospitals showed to conduct the patient satisfaction survey, and most of hospitals which did not conduct it had a plan to do it within 5 years. The reason that hospitals did not conduct satisfaction survey was due to a lack of administrator's interest or adequate questionnaire form. Second, the bigger, public and being more located in the big city or opened more than 10 years, the more hospitals conducted the patient satisfaction survey. Also, patient satisfaction survey was mainly handled by planning dept. or administrative team. Third, most hospitals had their own way of making questionnaires without proving reliability and validity. The results of the survey were applied to hospital management timely, and were mostly reported to top manager level. Most CEO concerned about the results of satisfaction survey. Fourth, the staffs in charge of survey had problems such as skill related to data analysis and development of questionnaire and they suggested that this problems could be solved through inducing the implementation of the survey results on hospital management, support for the development of standardized questionnaires and increasing the top manager's interests. Fifth, most questionnaires composed of lots of questioning items on hospital equipments and environment, and kindness of hospital employee to patients. Conclusions : Although this study had some limitations in generalization due to low response rate in big hospitals, it is meaningful to find the present state and the problems related to patient satisfaction survey of the general hospitals. We can conclude that there are increasing the concern for patient satisfaction survey among the hospitals nationwide, and it can be needed for technical support related to development of survey tool or method.

  • Accurate assessment of greenhouse gas emissions is a cornerstone of every climate change response study, and reliable assessment of greenhouse gas emission data is being used as a practical basis for the entire climate change prediction and modeling studies. Essential, fundamental technologies for estimating greenhouse gas emissions include an on-site monitoring technology, an evaluation methodology of uncertainty in emission factors, and a verification technology for reductions. The closed chamber method is being commonly used to measure gas fluxes between soil-vegetation and atmosphere. This method has the advantages of being simple, easily available and economical. This study presented the technical bases of the closed chamber method for measuring methane fluxes from a rice paddy. The methane fluxes from rice paddies occupy the largest portion of a single source of greenhouse gas in the agricultural field. We reviewed the international and the domestic studies on automated chamber monitoring systems that have been developed from manually operated chambers. Based on this review, we discussed scientific concerns on chamber methods with a particular focus on quality control for improving measurement reliability of field data.

  • This paper proposes a new high-efficient interleaved phase-shift full-bridge (PSFB) converter for low-voltage and high-current power systems. The proposed converter is composed of three switch-bridges and two transformers in the primary side and two rectifiers in the secondary side. Each transformer handles half of the total power with an interleaved operation, so that the proposed converter has high system reliability, as much as the conventional interleaved PSFB converter. The soft-switching characteristics of the proposed converter are better than those of the conventional converter due to the modulated primary side configuration. The proposed converter represents a single lagging-leg bridge, which has a poor soft switching condition in its operation, while the conventional converter has two lagging-leg bridges in its operation. Therefore, the number of switches having hard-switching conditions is reduced by half in the proposed converter. In addition, the reduced switch counts in the primary side of the proposed converter helps decrease the complexity of the proposed converter compared to that of the conventional converter. The operational principle and analysis are presented in this paper and the characteristics are verified using a PSIM simulation with 3kW server power specification.
