  • KORAIL has been established by 1st January 2005. From organization change to KORAIL(Korea railroad Corporation), labour union and company management team has been argument for their train crews and drivers operation system. For example, train crew and driver working conditions; working hours per week, off day and duty day time, over night time working payment, current position payment, preparation time, company own lodge operation and so on. I assure that this comparison study for train crew and driver operation between KORAIL and EWS will helps to improve other korean railway companies management efficiency. In conclusion, EWS has 4$\sim$6 times more efficient employee for active operation than KORAIL per 1 freight brock-train operation. EWS has very resonable train crews and driver operation system, and self-control regulation for employee and management team with trusty. This thesis propose that korean railway companies and their own labour unions need joint research and benchmarking other oversea railway companies as like EWS.

Franchise Contract Management Performance by Supervisor Type : A Case of 'Ganiyeok' (슈퍼바이저의 커뮤니케이션 유형에 따른 가맹점별 계약관리 성과 : 프랜차이즈 '간이역' 사례를 중심으로)

  • As franchise industry has grown, the role of a supervisor who is a contact point between franchisor and franchisees has become more vital to success of the business. This research, focusing on his/her specific role, explores communication type, leadership type, and followership type of the supervisor in relations with the organization, franchisor, and franchisees, respectively. Furthermore, we compared performance of franchises by the three types above through the franchise contract management leverage (FCML) which reflects business performance both qualitatively and quantitatively. According to the analysis on supervisors of a franchise business, 'Ganiyeok', the majority of supervisors' communication type were either supportive style or directive style. For the leadership type, team-type and impoverished-type leaders were the majority, while effective or passive followership appeared highest in followership type. In addition, supportive supervisors in communication style, team-type supervisors in leadership style, and effective supervisors in followership had highest FCML, while reflective and directive styles, impoverished style, and passive style had lowest FCML. Primary goal of a franchise business is stable profit generation. This study not only examined what characteristics supervisors need and which style is insufficient, but also proposed tailored solutions for each style. Thus, we confirmed that debates on franchise can be approached in perspective of both communication and business, and we further suggest diverse approaches on future franchise business.

Lessons Learned from Institutionalization of ML (Machine Learning) Supported HR Services in the Existence of Multiple Institutional Logics

  • This study explores how an organization has successfully implemented ML-supported HR services to resolve high employee turnover problems in the IT sector. The empirical setting of the research is where contradicting institutional logics exist among technical, HR, and business groups regarding the ML model development and use of the model predictions in HR services. Institutional framework is used to identify the roles of organizational actors and the legitimacy structures in the organizational environments that can shape or constrain the ML led organizational changes. In institutional theories, technology adoption and organizational change are not only constrained by organizational context, but also fostered through organizational actors' roles and efforts to increase the legitimacy for the change. This research found that when multiple contradicting institutional logics exist, legitimizing the establishment of an enabling environment for multiple logics to reconcile and for the project to move forward is critical. Industry-wide conditions, previous experiences with the pilot ML project, forming a TFT with clearly defined roles and responsibilities, and relevant KPIs are found to legitimize the HR team and the business division to collaborate with the technical personnel to launch ML-supported HR services.

  • Purpose: This study seeks to address the following research questions: (1) What are the fundamental principles of sports psychology that can be applied to business leadership? (2) How can these principles enhance business leadership effectiveness? As a result, the study may evaluate the necessity and benefits of incorporating sports psychology principles into business leadership practices. Research design, data and methodology: The data collection process in this study involved a systematic Literature review approach, following the prior literature analysis guidelines by numerous past studies. This methodical approach to selecting articles can be useful in synthesizing existing literature and can be referred to as Literature review and selection. Results: The literature analysis has indicated that there is much support for assumptions underpinning business leadership modules, which can be enhanced by applying sports psychology. This topic discusses the traits of self-positivity and mental toughness, goal perspective and interpersonal relationships within a team, and visualization in a sporting organization that can be implemented in business management to support organizational performance. Conclusions: All in all, it can be concluded that organizations must consider adopting Sports Psychology principles into their Leadership Development Programs.   • Fans' role and influence is becoming more extensive in these days' complex and competitive sports market. This research considers fans as internal members of sports team, employee and confirms active and voluntary fan citizenship behavior's effects on team, community, and social exchange among community residents, so that an enterprise can increase accessibility from many-sided perspectives when establishing sports marketing strategy in the future. The concept of fan citizenship behavior is set up considering characteristic of sports industry based on employee's organizational citizenship behavior discussed from the internal marketing and organization theory and preliminary studies about client citizenship behavior mentioned from service industry area. Although the sixteen research hypothesis are not fully supported. The results are summarized as follows. These findings give theoretical and marketing implication to future researcher and marketer. First, fan's positive aspect is confirmed which is different from general consumer by examining fan citizenship behavior's effect on teal value in the sports industry. Second, it was confirmed that the team needs marketing strategies about not only relationship between each individual fan, but also interaction between fans in the future. Third, it was confirmed that direct fan's behavior as well as individual fan's cognitive area have effects on team's and social value.

  • The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as an international health emergency. Current diagnostic tests are based on the reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) method, which is the gold standard test that involves the amplification of viral RNA. However, the RT-qPCR assay has limitations in terms of sensitivity and quantification. In this study, we tested both qPCR and droplet digital PCR (ddPCR) to detect low amounts of viral RNA. The cycle threshold (CT) of the viral RNA by RT-PCR significantly varied according to the sequences of the primer and probe sets with in vitro transcript (IVT) RNA or viral RNA as templates, whereas the copy number of the viral RNA by ddPCR was effectively quantified with IVT RNA, cultured viral RNA, and RNA from clinical samples. Furthermore, the clinical samples were assayed via both methods, and the sensitivity of the ddPCR was determined to be equal to or more than that of the RT-qPCR. However, the ddPCR assay is more suitable for determining the copy number of reference materials. These findings suggest that the qPCR assay with the ddPCR defined reference materials could be used as a highly sensitive and compatible diagnostic method for viral RNA detection.

A case study on verification of internet survey (인터넷 설문조사의 검증에 관한 사례연구)

  • The object of study is to verify the accuracy of internet survey by comparing database data and internet survey. Internet survey was conducted on August, 2012. Respondents were subscribers of KISTI NDSL. Variables were age, organization as demographic variables, number of use, and period of use as attitude variables. Mismatch rates of age, organization, number of use, and period, are 7.5%, 5%, 92%, and 55% respectively. We could estimate the mismatch rate for age as 3% as a pessimistic point of view, and 1% as an optimistic point of view by detail verification. The mismatch rates of organization are 4.5% as a pessimistic point of view, and 2% as an optimistic point of view. The mismatch rates for the frequency of use, the period of use are very high, because measurement error, problems in memory, and internet attitude, etc. Implication of this study is that data of internet survey could be reliable. Many further researches are needed for verification of internet survey.

FORMOSAT-2'S EFFECTIVENESS TO TAIWAN'S PUBLIC EDUCATION

  • Public education is undoubtedly a very important aspect for a country to develop space program. People have the rights to understand how the tax they paid is being used. This paper addresses the effectiveness of FORMOSAT-2 on public education in Taiwan. As the first remote sensing satellite of the National Space Organization (NSPO) of Taiwan, FORMOSAT-2 is a small satellite of 746 kg mass for two remote sensing missions: Earth and upward lightning observations. The mission orbit is sun-synchronous of 888 km altitude for exactly 14 revolutions per day. For earth observation, the payload is an advanced high resolution remote sensing instrument (RSI) with ground sampling distance (GSD) 2 m in panchromatic (PAN) band and 8 m in four multi-spectral (MS) bands. For upward lightning observation, the payload is an imager of sprites and upper atmospheric lightning (ISUAL). After more than two years of Earth observation started in June 2004, the effectiveness of FORMOSAT-2 images on public education in Taiwan is very promised. Five domestic universities and one private company in Taiwan have signed contracts respectively with NSPO to take the roles of satellite image investigator and distributor. A private company has signed contract with NSPO to generate and provide URMAP (= your map) in its website for general public applications by using FORMOSAT-2 images. The Newtonkids Book Company used FORMOSAT-2 images to publish a kind of calendar for children education purpose. Besides, a science team in National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) is doing the research work on the 3820 (up to 30 June 2006) transient luminous events (TLEs) observed by FORMOSAT-2.

  • When we estimate any organization, we can use scientific tool such as organizational effectiveness. It is very difficult to know the level of organizational goal. If you plan how to assess the effectiveness of your organization, It is a complex and difficult problem, because a few social scientist think that there are many point of view of an concept of organizational goals based on the relatively concrete concept of organizational effectiveness. Social scientist Campbell insist that it is impossible to estimate organizational effectiveness accurately. So we should develope the perfect method to measure the organization as a system, the member's self satisfaction, the efficiency of the team. To achieve a good organizational effectiveness, we should study the method of approach about organizational effectiveness. This is theoretical study and show that the concept and method of approach about organizational effectiveness.
