This study aims to do in-depth exploration of the meaning of learning village activists' work, focusing on job crafting. A qualitative case study was conducted through participant observation and in-depth interview from March 23, 2020 to March 05, 2021. As a result of the analysis, a task crafting showed 'task performance using one's own strengths and resources', 'executing additional tasks other than the specified tasks', and 'changes in work methods for efficient task performance'. In a cognitive crafting, 'recognition of the importance of work and sense of vocation', 'recognition of happiness and pleasure in work', and 'recognition of roles to expand work expertise' appeared. In a relation crafting, 'building a community of practical learning with colleagues', 'a mediator of the growth and change of village residents', and 'coexistence of conflict and cooperation with business associates' were shown. In conclusion, learning village activists were actively changing their work through the job crafting and this can be used as basic data to improve the satisfaction with their work. A follow-up study was proposed for activists in learning villages in other regions.
The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effects of self-regulated neurofeedback training on elementary school students' recall and recognition performance. For this purpose, the participants were randomly allocated to control condition where no training was provided or training condition where participants were trained in 4 self-regulated neurofeedback training sessions. As the dependent measures, correct free, recall rates and correct recognition rates were analyzed. The results showed that overall scores of recall and recognition were enhanced by the administration of the training itself, and as the training sessions advanced. In particular, the effect of the training seemed to induce more positive effect on the both memory tasks when the task difficulty (manipulated by increasing the number of target words) was increased. These results implied that self-regulated neurofeedback training can induce increased recollection ability for words by enhancing attentional process.
Fingerprint recognition is a task to find a matching pattern in a database for a specific persons fingerprint. To accomplish this task, preprocessing, classification, and matching steps are taken for a large-scale fingerprint database but only the matching step is taken without classification for a small-scale database. The primary matching method is based on minutiae (ridge ending point, bifurcation). This matching method, however, requires a very complex computation to extract minutiae and match minutiae-to-minutiae accurately due to translation, rotation, nonlinear deformation of fingerprint and occurrence of spurious minutiae. In addition, this method requires a laborious preprocessing step in order to improve the quality of fingerprint Images. This paper proposes a new simple method to eliminate these problems. With this method, Gabor variance is used instead of minutiae for fingerprint recognition. The Gabor variance is computed from Gabor features that result from filtering a fingerprint image through Gabor filter. In this paper, this method is described and its test result is shown, demonstrating the potential of using this new method for fingerprint recognition.
This paper presents a method for the automatic recognition of pitch accents with no prior knowledge about the phonetic content of the signal (no knowledge of word or phoneme boundaries or of phoneme labels). The recognition algorithm used in this paper is a time-delay recurrent neural network (TDRNN). A TDRNN is a neural network classier with two different representations of dynamic context: delayed input nodes allow the representation of an explicit trajectory F0(t), while recurrent nodes provide long-term context information that can be used to normalize the input F0 trajectory. Performance of the TDRNN is compared to the performance of a MLP (multi-layer perceptron) and an HMM (Hidden Markov Model) on the same task. The TDRNN shows the correct recognition of $91.9{\%}\;of\;pitch\;events\;and\;91.0{\%}$ of pitch non-events, for an average accuracy of $91.5{\%}$ over both pitch events and non-events. The MLP with contextual input exhibits $85.8{\%},\;85.5{\%},\;and\;85.6{\%}$ recognition accuracy respectively, while the HMM shows the correct recognition of $36.8{\%}\;of\;pitch\;events\;and\;87.3{\%}$ of pitch non-events, for an average accuracy of $62.2{\%}$ over both pitch events and non-events. These results suggest that the TDRNN architecture is useful for the automatic recognition of pitch accents.
In this letter, we propose a new histogram equalization technique for feature compensation in speech recognition under noisy environments. The proposed approach combines a signal-to-noise-ratio-dependent feature reconstruction method and the class histogram equalization technique to effectively reduce the acoustic mismatch present in noisy speech features. Experimental results from the Aurora 2 task confirm the superiority of the proposed approach for acoustic feature compensation.
The age of acquisition effect is the phenomenon in which the words acquired early in life are processed better than the words acquired later in life. Age of acquisition and word frequency are critical factors in lexical processing. In this study we examined the age of acquisition effects in Hangul word recognition. In Experiment 1, we examined the AoA effects in word naming and lexical decision tasks. The results showed that there was an interaction between task and age of acquisition. The AoA effects appeared only in the lexical decision task. In Experiment 2, we examined the relationship between age of acquisition and word frequency in the lexical decision task. The results showed that the two variables were significant. The early-acquired words were processed better than the words acquired later, and the words with high frequency were processed better than the words with low frequency. However, there was no interaction between the two variables. In Experiment 3, we examined how phonological changes in Hangul words influence the AoA effects. The results show that the AoA effects were similar whether phonological changes occur or not. Our results are discussed in terms of several theoretical hypotheses.
This study researched into literature materials in order to utilize basic data on job importance in dental coordinator, and analyzed questionnaire on job importance in dental coordinator for about 2 months from August and September in 2008 targeting dental hygienists and other manpower for dental hospitals & clinics where are located in D region and neighboring region. The following are the results: 1. Dental hospital & clinics where dental coordinators work were surveyed to be totally 66.9%. Dental coordinators were indicated to be 71.1% as for dental hospital$^{\circ}{\S}$clinic(women), and to be 28.4% as for a case with none. There was significant difference according to final academic degree and working place(P<.001). 2. License holders(women) for dental hygienist as dental coordinator accounted for 39.8%. The opposite case accounted for 60.2%. A case of doing duty of dental coordinator given not dental hygienist was indicated to be high. There was significant difference according to working place(p<.01). 3. The task importance on job that a dental coordinator directly performs was indicated to be averagely 3.24, thereby having been recognized to be important. 4. As for the recognition on job importance according to working-year number, it was indicated to have higher recognition on task importance in the more working-year number regarding customer management(p<.01), organization management(p<.05), and self-management(p<.01). 5. Given seeing difference in recognition on task importance according to medical institution, it was indicated to be 3.34 for dental clinic and 3.25 for dental hospital. Thus, the task importance was indicated to be slightly high in a person who works for dental clinic. There was no significant difference. In light of the above results, in order to educate dental coordinator who can successfully perform a role at dental hospital & clinic, a dental hygienist is required who is equipped with dental-clinic career rather than a person without a major. A professionally educational program for dental coordinator needs to be developed. Even in a dental coordinator's task, there is necessity for the curricular development and the specialized education.
The purpose of this study was to conduct a task-based field experience program for medical care support departments in hospitals for 1st medical students, and then to analyze the their experiences and its meanings phenomenologically. We selected the following department in hospital; nursing, medical records, pharmacy, diagnosis laboratory, radiology, administration, customer consulting center, organ transplant center, palliative medical ward, and international medical center. The students visited the department and used various methods such as interviewing, observation, and experience to solve the given task. As a result, in the program satisfaction, students rated the highest as having many department in the hospital and understanding their role. The essential structure of the experience of medical care support department in the reflection journal written by the students was the recognition of reality, respect and collaboration, and self-reflection from experience recognition.

A new data-driven method for the design of a blind modulation frequency filter that suppresses the slow-varying noise components is proposed. The proposed method is based on the temporal local decorrelation of the feature vector sequence, and is done on an utterance-by-utterance basis. Although the conventional modulation frequency filtering approaches the same form regardless of the task and environment conditions, the proposed method can provide an adaptive modulation frequency filter that outperforms conventional methods for each utterance. In addition, the method ultimately performs channel normalization in a feature domain with applications to log-spectral parameters. The performance was evaluated by speaker-independent isolated-word recognition experiments under additive noise environments. The proposed method achieved outstanding improvement for speech recognition in environments with significant noise and was also effective in a range of feature representations.
Speech recognition errors cause fatal results in a spoken dialogue system. When a system can not determine the speech-act of u utterance due to speech recognition errors, a dialogue system has a difficulty in continuing conversation. In this paper, we propose strategies for sub-dialogue generation by inferring the speech-act of an utterance with patterns of recognition errors on the field of form-filling dialogue. We used the proposed method on a plan-based dialogue model, corrected 27% of incomplete tasks, and acquired overall 89% of task completion rate.
