this paper describes a baseline for an implementation of a corpus-based Korean TTS system. The conventional TTS systems using small-sized speech still generate machine-like synthetic speech. To overcome this problem we introduce the corpus-based TTS system which enables to generate natural synthetic speech without prosodic modifications. The corpus should be composed of a natural prosody of source speech and multiple instances of synthesis units. To make a phone level synthesis unit, we train a speech recognizer with the target speech, and then perform an automatic phoneme segmentation. We also detect the fine pitch period using Laryngo graph signals, which is used for prosodic feature extraction. For break strength allocation, 4 levels of break indices are decided as pause length and also attached to phones to reflect prosodic variations in phrase boundaries. To predict the break strength on texts, we utilize the statistical information of POS (Part-of-Speech) sequences. The best triphone sequences are selected by Viterbi search considering the minimization of accumulative Euclidean distance of concatenating distortion. To get high quality synthesis speech applicable to commercial purpose, we introduce a domain specific database. By adding domain specific database to general domain database, we can greatly improve the quality of synthetic speech on specific domain. From the subjective evaluation, the new Korean corpus-based TTS system shows better naturalness than the conventional demisyllable-based one.

This study analyzed the causes of warehouse fires using a creative problem-solving technique called TRIZ. It identified preventive measures by applying 4M. The results are as follows. First, this study examined the inconsistency among the causes of warehouse fires using TRIZ. Second, it analyzed human factors and fire prevention measures in warehouses such as safety standards for managers, and methods for the promotion of safety consciousness among workers, and for the reinforcement of construction technology for sandwich panel workers. Third, it identified the mechanical and facility factors and fire prevention measures in warehouses such as safety facilities, the expanded installation of safety devices, the adoption and development of fire suppression equipment, and the deployment of methods to improve the fire resistance of sandwich panels. Fourth, it presented working and environmental factors and fire prevention measures in warehouses such as the tightening of safety precautions and the supervision of working methods, and setting fire partitions both in loading places and based on performance-based design. Finally, it proposed managerial factors and fire prevention measures in warehouses such as specific targeting for firefighting with low fire hazards, reviewing the material quality regulations of non-combustible or higher for sandwich panels in the specific target of firefighting that cannot apply fire safety standards, installing sprinklers in cold storage, and mandating the installation of automated facilities with retroactive application regardless of the floor area in the warehouse with a sandwich panel structure.

Comparing to the constant-increasing number of vehicles, road facilities supply such as road construction has already reached the uppermost limit. As one of the most serious issues that the public would personally deal with every day, such is some road traffic problem to be solved instantly. Median exclusive bus lane is now being conducted as a way to enhance efficiency of the public transportation system in Transportation System Management, and with a main arterial that connects Kyeryong-ro (Wolpyeong 3~West Daejeon 4, 6.3km) and Daedeok-daero (Daedeok Bridge 4~Kyeryong 4, 2.6km) in Daejeon adopted as a research target, the study analyzed effects of the arterial by VISSIM the microsimulation. During the analysis, the study focused on figuring out effects of owner-drivers' transport mode choice to take a bus a public transit. According to the simulation results, as people take a bus at the median exclusive bus lane not crb bus lane, traffic for general vehicles has been negatively effected with less drive ways for the vehicles. However, when it comes to the bus traffic, the new transport mode choice appeared to have a quite positive influence after all. A binary logit model analysis reported that owner-drivers might take a bus more often when they earn lower incomes, when they do not travel far, when poor parking is expected and lastly, when they are familiar with using the median exclusive bus lane.

With the increase of using pesticides, pesticide poisonings become more frequent. In the previous epidemiological study on pesticide poisoning and the reports of the authorities concerned, it is carefully affirmed that pesticide poisonings are caused by farmers' ignorance and negligence in using the pesticides. But the pesticide poisoning should be taken into account in terms of the person who sprays the pesticides, its spraying process, farming style and farmers' socio-economic conditions. And based on the understanding mentioned above, preventive measures for pesticide poisoning should be established. In this socio-medical point of view, this study examined the public health problems caused by using pesticides and the treatment of pesticide poisoning, based on the interviews with farmers in a area of Kyunggi-Do about the spraying process of pesticides, poisoning experiences and its treatments. The results are as follows ; 1) The style of spraying pesticides in the target area is mostly an individual one, not cooperative one. And the subjects of spraying are householders, whose educational backgrounds are beneath notice. More than 2~5 of the subjects are women or old men of 60 years old or so. These are seen to derive from the socio-economic status of Korean agricultural families; their younger generation's moving to greater cities and their petty farming styles. 2) As for the safety measures for the spraying of pesticides, those which have nothing to do with the economic, problems such as efficient spraying and productivity, are well obeyed. On the other hand, some safety measures as the use of safety devices, and spraying time, the degree of dilution of pesticides and the spraying method In windy days, are not obeyed very well, for to keep those makes spraying difficult to do and productivity worse. These facts indicate that the safety measures for using pesticides must be directly concerned with the spraying process, farming style and farmers' socio economic status, rather than the subject's knowledge or carefulness. 3) Even In cases of poisoning they do rarely consult the doctors. This is caused by the problem of their locality and transportation since one should pass away a day even in the busiest season to consult doctors, and by their low socio-economic status. 4) The epidemiological studies on pesticide poisonings should be necessarily led to a socio-medical one which are concerned together with the spraying process of pesticides, farming style, farmer's socio-economic status and discrepancies in public health policies between agricultural communities and urban ones.
Social enterprises that are solving pressing global issues and providing services such as micro-finance, affordable housing, appropriate technology and education for the 'bottom of the pyramid' as well as cultural and community-related businesses that improve the 'quality of life' within a society are the target of impact investments. Among them, a capital financing is one of the most important factor in founding and fostering of social enterprise. However, the capital market for social enterprises in South Korea are not yet sufficiently developed. The Britain and U.S.A. attempted to solve the social problem by the introduction of the social innovation credit model, for example, social impact bonds(SIB), Big Society Capital, DBLIF, and ACCION International, which are considered as an innovative new financing instrument for social program. Instruments are being attempted for the first time in Britain and America. This study have two purposes. The first purpose is abstracting the institutional mechanism for introduction of impact investment such as SIB and DBLIF case in Britain and U.S.A.. Second, analyzing type and mix of policy instrument on impact investment from the perspective of policy instrument.
In this paper, I would like to explore the possibility that the nature of place assimilation can be captured in terms of the OCP within the Optimality Theory (Mccarthy & Prince 1999. 1995; Prince & Smolensky 1993). In derivational models, each assimilatory process would be expressed through a different autosegmental rule. However, what any such model misses is a clear generalization that all of those processes have the effect of avoiding a configuration in which two consonantal place nodes are adjacent across a syllable boundary, as illustrated in (1):(equation omitted) In a derivational model, it is a coincidence that across languages there are changes that have the result of modifying a structure of the form (1a) into the other structure that does not have adjacent consonantal place nodes (1b). OT allows us to express this effect through a constraint given in (2) that forbids adjacent place nodes: (2) OCP(PL): Adjacent place nodes are prohibited. At this point, then, a question arises as to how consonantal and vocalic place nodes are formally distinguished in the output for the purpose of applying the OCP(PL). Besides, the OCP(PL) would affect equally complex onsets and codas as well as coda-onset clusters in languages that have them such as English. To remedy this problem, following Mccarthy (1994), I assume that the canonical markedness constraint is a prohibition defined over no more than two segments, $\alpha$ and $\beta$: that is, $^{*}\{{\alpha, {\;}{\beta{\}$ with appropriate conditions imposed on $\alpha$ and $\beta$. I propose the OCP(PL) again in the following format (3) OCP(PL) (table omitted) $\alpha$ and $\beta$ are the target and the trigger of place assimilation, respectively. The '*' is a reminder that, in this format, constraints specify negative targets or prohibited configurations. Any structure matching the specifications is in violation of this constraint. Now, in correspondence terms, the meaning of the OCP(PL) is this: the constraint is violated if a consonantal place $\alpha$ is immediately followed by a consonantal place $\bebt$ in surface. One advantage of this format is that the OCP(PL) would also be invoked in dealing with place assimilation within complex coda (e.g., sink [si(equation omitted)k]): we can make the constraint scan the consonantal clusters only, excluding any intervening vowels. Finally, the onset clusters typically do not undergo place assimilation. I propose that the onsets be protected by certain constraint which ensures that the coda, not the onset loses the place feature.

Industrial insect is defined as the insect utilized in industries that creates added value. Most of the industrial insects used in Korea are exotic species that are introduced through artificial means. Despite the rapid expansion of market for industrial insects, the system for risk assessment of industrial insects is not being adequately conducted. Although Korea carries out a risk assessment for the species designated as disease and insect pest by Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency, far too little consideration is being given to overall ecosystem, as the control system is covered in the Plant Quarantine Law. To solve this problem, we analyzed the Korean risk assessment system and looked at systems in other countries. The results show that it is essential for stakeholders to reach an agreement to set up fundamental directions for the system. Unless the integration system of taxonomical and ecological information is prepared, the ecological risk assessment should be conservative to protect ecosystems and should also follow the precautionary principle. It also requires cooperation among the ministries. In addition, the results indicated that a differentiation between risk assessment and screening is urgent. Several solutions such as setting up clear objectives in both assessment and screening stages, target species, steering organization and assessment criteria assessment systems from were proposed as practical institutional strategies. Among many foreign countries the assessment system from Ireland equally considers various factors such as economical, ecological safety and management aspects, It is also based on precautionary principle to fulfil its original purpose. It was suggested that the Ireland system would be the best reference that can be modified and applied into the Korean system by considering distinct characteristics of the industrial insects.

Some materials of fatty acids in the biodiesel affect the physical/chemical properties like density, kinematic viscosity, total acid number and oxidation stability by forming an organic fatty acid in combination with oxygen in the air. To solve the problem of the oxidative stability of biodiesel, various kinds of antioxidant has added and analyze the characteristics of the physical/chemical property changes by the addition of antioxidant. Oxidation stability increased by the increase of additives content. The TBHQ among the seven kinds of the additives showed the best performance. Also, 4 kinds of additives like propyl gallate, butyl-amine and pyrogallo has showed above 10 hr of oxidation stability at the addition of 500 ppm. In case of pyrogallo, this is not appropriate as an additive to suitable quality standards of total acid number. TBHA, DTBHQ of hydroquinone was satisfied with the quality standard of oxidation stability but the target of this research(above 10 hr) did not satisfied with oxidation stability. Propyl gallate is also a suitable at the quality standards of total acid number but it was shown not to be an appropriate to the additives due to increasing the total acid number by increasing of the content of additives at the addition of 500 ppm.
Until now, various educational budgets, facilities, and programs have been put into school education, but the results have not been clearly evaluated. This study presents a model to analyze the effectiveness of educational support for students in high schools across the country. In this model, we first use EM cluster analysis to make clusters with similar inputs for school operation, and then calculate the relative efficiency in each cluster by using Network DEA analysis. The Network DEA analysis has a two-stage structure where the first stage uses six inputs in terms of school infrastructure to generate outputs such as the number of academic persistence. In the Network DEA analysis, the second stage uses 10 inputs in terms of school programs to generate outputs such as the number of enrollees to higher learning and the number of employees and per capita usage of library as the connection variable. Based on the efficiency analysis results, Tier analysis is performed by applying the Euclidean distance to select targets for benchmarking. In this study, we applied the model to analyze the efficiency of educational support by collecting data regarding student education support in general and vocational high school nationwide. The stepwise benchmarking method proposed that the target be selected for efficiency improvement step by step, taking into account inefficient school elements to complement the problem of the choice of benchmarking targets. Based on this study, it is expected that schools with low efficiency of educational support for students will be used as basic data for stepwise benchmarking for efficient operation of educational support for students.
The demands of increasingly complicated software have led to the proliferation of object-oriented design methodologies in embedded systems. To execute a system designed with objects in target hardware, a task set should be derived from the objects, representing how many tasks reside in the system and which task processes which event arriving at an object. The derived task set greatly influences the responsiveness of the system. Nevertheless, it is very difficult to derive an optimal task set due to the discrepancy between objects and tasks. Therefore, the common method currently used by developers is to repetitively try various task sets. This paper proposes Scenario-based Implementation Synthesis Architecture (SISA) to solve this problem. SISA encompasses a method for deriving a task set from a system designed with objects as well as its supporting development tools and run-time system architecture. A system designed with SISA not only consists of the smallest possible number of tasks, but also guarantees that the response time for each event in the system is minimized. We have fully implemented SISA by extending the ResoRT development tool and applied it to an existing industrial PBX system. The experimental results show that maximum response times were reduced $30.3\%$ on average compared to when the task set was derived by the best known existing methods.
