High-Power Water-Cooled RF Load (고출력 마이크로파 수냉식 RF Load 설계)

  • This paper presents the design of a water-cooled radio-frequency(RF) load with simple structure, for use in the ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) band. After establishing a formula to obtain the physical properties that affect RF matching, we measure the permittivity and $tan{\delta}$(Loss tangent) of tap water. Because the temperature of tap water increases upon applying high power, we measure the permittivity and $tan{\delta}$ for all changes in the temperature of tap water. In order to reduce the length of the water-load, molybdate with high $tan{\delta}$ is mixed with tap water. The loss tangent of the mixture is found to be approximately 26 times higher than that of tap water. Finally, we manufacture a water-cooled RF load and measure its characteristics. A reflection coefficient of -19 dB and bandwidth of 15 % is obtained at 460 MHz.

Development of Algorithms for Extracting Thermocline Parameters in the South Sea of Korea (한국 남부해역의 수온약층 추출 알고리즘 개발)

  • A new algorithm was developed, not only to detect the existence of a thermocline, but also to extract the thermocline parameters (such as thermocline thickness, mixed layer thickness, maximum temperature gradient, and temperature difference of thermocline), using the vertical profile of water temperature. According to Kappa analysis, in order to find adequate threshold values of vertical water temperature gradients ${\Delta}T$ ($^{\circ}C/m$), agreement and reliability were 87% and 0.74 respectively, in the conditions of maximum ${\Delta}T{\geq}0.5$ and surface and bottom layers ${\Delta}T<{\mid}0.2{\mid}$. Also, three different kinds of methods, viz. 1. Gradient method, 2. Hyperbolic tangent method, and 3. Differential hyperbolic tangent method, were tested to extract the key parameters of a thermocline. Comparing the results of three different methods, the differential hyperbolic tangent method was the most appropriate to extract the start and end point of a thermocline curve.

  • In measuring the microwave surface resistance of high-Tc superconductor (HTS) films using the dielectric-loaded cavity resonator method, one of the most important factors that limit the measurement sensitivity is the measurement error in the loss tangent ($tan\delta$) of the dielectric rod placed inside the cavity. We have measured the effective surface resistance ( $R_{S}$ $^{eff}$) of$ YBa_2$$_Cu3$$_{7-{\delta}}$ (YBCO) films and the $tan\delta$ of rutile ($TiO_2$) using the 'two-tone'method suggested by Kobayashi et at. [IEEE, MTT-S Digest, 495, (2001)], which enables simultaneous measurements of both the $R_{S}$ $^{eff}$ fof HTS films and the $tan\delta$ of the rutile with high sensitivity. A rutile-loaded cavity resonator with the $TE_{012}$ and $TE_{021}$ resonant frequencies at 13.67 - 14.01 GHz is used for this purpose. At temperatures where the two modes do not couple with other modes, the $R_{S}$ $^{eff}$ of YBCO films and $tan\delta$ of rutile measured by the two-tone method appear to match well with the corresponding values measured using the reported $tan\delta$ values of sapphire within 10 %. Usefulness of the 'two-tone' method for microwave characterization of HTS films and dielectrics is discussed.d.ielectrics is discussed.ussed.

  • We have investigated dielectric polarization in organic light-emitting diodes using 8-hydroxyquinoline aluminum($Alq_3$) as an electron transport and emissive material. We analyzed the dielectric polarization of organic light-emitting diodes using characteristics of impedance and equivalent circuit of $ITO/Alq_3/Al$. Impedance characteristics was measured complex impedance Z and phase ${\theta}$ in the frequency range of $1{\times}40Hz\;to\;1{\times}10^8Hz$. We obtained complex electrical conductivity, dielectric constant, and loss tangent(tan${\delta}$) of the device at room temperature. And, we obtained the equivalent circuit of $ITO/Alq_3/Al$ through analyzing dielectric constant and dielectric loss tangent. From these analyses, we could interpret a conduction mechanism and dielectric polarization.

  • The plastic deformation of polycrystalline materials is induced by changes of the microstructure when the loading is beyond the critical state of stress. Constitutive models for the crystal plasticity have the common objective which relates microscopic single crystals in the crystallographic texture to the macroscopic continuum point. In this paper, a new consistent tangent stiffness for the anisotropic elasto-viscoplastic analysis of polycrystalline deformation is developed, which can be used in the finite element analysis for the slip-dominated large deformation of polycrystalline materials. In order to calculate the consistent tangent stiffness, the state function is defined based on the consistency condition between the elastic and plastic stress. The rate of shearing increment($\Delta{\gamma}^{\alpha}$) is calculated with satisfying the consistency condition. The consistency condition becomes zero when the trial resolved shear stress($\tau^{{\alpha}^*}$) becomes resolved shear stress($\tau^{\alpha}$) at every step. Iterative method is utilized to calculate the rate of shearing increment based on the implicit backward Euler method. The consistent tangent stiffness can be formulated by differentiating the rate of shearing increment with total strain increment after the instant rate of shearing increment converges. The proposed tangent stiffness is applied to the ABAQUS/Standard by implementing in the ABAQUS/UMAT.

A Study on Electrical Degradation Properties of Epoxy Resin due to Moisture Absorption (흡습에 의한 에폭시 수지의 전기적 열화 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, the moisture content, charge discharge current, electrostatic capacity and dielectric loss tangent are measured for the specimen of bisphenol type epoxy resin which is mixed with squared amorphous silica filler and dipped in hot water of $50^{\circ}C$ for 169 days. The results of this study are listed below. The longer of deposition day, the charge and discharge current was increased. It is considered that the reason is because there was water attack through the squared silica surface. The longer of deposition day, the absorption rate of all specimens was increased. It found that the absorption rate reached saturated state after 100 days. The higher frequency and the longer of deposition day, the $tan{\delta}$ was decreased. Also, It found that the $tan{\delta}$ and electrostatic capacity of the specimen which is mixed with squared filler are greater.

On an improved numerical method to solve the equilibrium problems of solids with bounded tensile strength that are subjected to thermal strain

  • In this paper we recall briefly the constitutive equations for solids subjected to thermal strain taking in account the bounded tensile stress of the material. In view to solve the equilibrium problem via the finite element method using the Newton Raphson procedure, we show that the tangent elasticity tensor is semi-definite positive. Therefore, in order to obtain a convergent numerical method, the constitutive equation needs to be modified. Specifically, the dependency of the stress by the anelastic deformation is made explicit by means of a parameter ${\delta}$, varying from 0 to 1, that factorizes the elastic tensor. This parameterization, for ${\delta}$ near to 0, assures the positiveness of the tangent elasticity tensor and enforces the convergence of the numerical method. Some numerical examples are illustrated.

  • The decision-directed blind equalization algorithm is often used due to its simplicity and good convergence property when the eye pattern is open. However, in a channel where the eye pattern is closed, the decision-directed algorithm is not guaranteed to converge. Hence, a modified Bussgang-type algorithm using a hyperbolic tangent function for zero-memory nonlinear(ZNL) function has been proposed and applied to avoid this problem by Filho et al. But application of this algorithm includes the calculation of hyperbolic tangent function and its derivative or a look-up table which may need a large amount of memory due to channel variations. To reduce the computational and/or hardware complexity of Filho's algorithm, in this paper, an improved method for the decision-directed algorithm is proposed. In the proposed scheme, the ZNL function and its derivative are respectively set to be the original signum function and a narrow rectangular pulse which is an approximation of Dirac delta function. It is shown that the proposed scheme, when it is combined with decision-directed algorithm, reduces the computational complexity drastically while it retains the convergence and steady-state performance of the Filho's algorithm.

신경망기법을 이용한 기업부실예측에 관한 연구

  • 본 연구의 목적은 특정 금융기관의 주거래기업들에 대한 부실예측을 위해 주거래기업들을 잠식, 도산, 그리고 건전기업과 같이 세집단으로 구분하여 예측하고자 하며, 기업부실 예측력에 영향을 미치는 세 가지 요인으로서 표본구성, 투입 변수, 분석 기법의 관점에서 다음을 살펴보는 것이다. 첫째, 기업부실예측에서 전통적인 delta learning rule과 sigmoid함수를 사용한 역전파학습(신경망 I)과 이들의 변형형태인 normalized cumulative delta learning rule과 hyperbolic tangent함수를 사용한 역전파 학습(신경망 II)과의 예측력의 차이를 살펴보고 또한 이러한 두가지 신경망기법의 예측력을 MDA(다변량판별분석) 결과와 비교하여 신경망기법에 대한 예측력의 유용성을 살펴보고자 한다. 둘째, 세집단분류문제에서는 잠식, 도산, 건전기업의 구성비율이 위의 세가지 예측기법의 결과에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 살펴보고자 한다. 세째, 투입 변수선정은 기존연구 또는 이론을 바탕으로 연구자의 판단에 의해 선택하는 방법과 다수의 변수를 가지고 통계적기법에 의해 좋은 판별변수의 집합을 찾는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 방법들에 의해 선정된 투입변수들이 세가지 예측기법의 결과에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 살펴보고자 한다. 이러한 관점에서 본 연구의 실증분석 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1) 신경망기법이 두집단에서와 같이 세집단 분류문제에서도 MDA보다는 더 높은 예측력을 보였다. 2) 잠식과 도산기업의 수는 비슷하게 그리고 건전기업의 수는 잠식과 도산기업을 합한 수와 비슷하게 표본을 구성하는 것이 예측력을 향상하는데 도움이 된다고 할 수 있다. 3) 속성별로 고르게 투입변수로 선정한 경우가 그렇지 않은 경우보다 더 높은 예측력을 보였다. 4) 전통적인 delta learning rule과 sigmoid함수를 사용한 역전파학습 보다는 normalized cumulative delta learning rule과 hyperbolic tangent함수를 사용한 역전파 학습이 더 높은 예측력을 보였다. 이러한 현상은 두집단문제에서 보다 세집단문제에서 더 큰 차이를 나타내고 있다.

Dielectric Properties depending on Frequency in ITO/$Alq_3$/Al (ITO/$Alq_3$/Al의 주파수 변화에 따른 유전 특성)

  • We have Investigated dielectric properties depending on bias voltage in organic lightemitting diodes using 8-hydroxyquinoline aluminum($Alq_3$) as an electron transport and emissive material. We analyzed the dielectric properties of organic light emitting diodes using impedance characteristics measurement by the auto-balancing bridge technique and equivalent cirrcuit of ITO/$Alq_3$/Al. Impedance characteristics was measured complex impedance Z and phase ${\theta}$ in the frequency range of 40 [Hz] to $10^8$ [Hz]. We obtained complex electrical conductivity, dielectric constant, and loss tangent ($tan{\delta}$) of the device at room temperature. From these analyses, we are able to interpret a conduction mechanism and dielectric properties contributed by an interfacial and orientational polarization.
