Agromyces silvae sp. nov., Rathayibacter soli sp. nov., and Nocardioides terrisoli sp. nov., Isolated from Soil

  • Three Gram-stain-positive, aerobic, rod-shaped, and non-motile bacteria, labelled as W11T, SW19T, and YR1T, were isolated from soil, and performed their polyphasic taxonomic investigation. The phylogenetic and 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis showed that strains W11T, SW19T, and YR1T belonged to the genera Agromyces, Rathayibacter, and Nocardioides, respectively. Strain W11T was closely affiliated with Agromyces cavernae SYSU K20354T (98.1%), strain SW19T showed the closest affiliation with Rathayibacter rubneri ZW T2_19T (97.0%), and strain YR1T was most closely related to Nocardioides marmorisolisilvae KIS18-7T (98.0%). The genome sizes of strains W11T, SW19T, and YR1T were 4,181,720 bp, 4,740,677 bp, and 4,228,226 bp, respectively, with DNA G+C contents of 70.5%, 64.2%, and 69.7%, respectively. Average nucleotide identity and digital DNA-DNA hybridization values of W11T, SW19T, and YR1T with their respective reference species were <79.6% and <23.6%, respectively. The predominant cellular fatty acids detected in strain W11T were anteiso-C15:0, iso-C16:0, and anteiso-C17:0. In strain SW19T, they were summed feature 9 (C16:0 10-methyl and/or iso-C17:1ω 9c), anteiso-C17:0, and anteiso-C15:0. Strain YR1T exhibited C18:1ω 9c, C18:0 10-methyl, TBSA, and anteiso-C15:0 as its major cellular fatty acids. Overall, the polyphasic taxonomic comparisons indicated that strains W11T, SW19T, and YR1T represent novel species within the genera Agromyces, Rathayibacter, and Nocardioides, respectively. Accordingly, we propose the names Agromyces silvae sp. nov., with the type strain W11T (=KCTC 49818T =NBRC 115999T), Rathayibacter soli sp. nov., with the type strain SW19T (=KCTC 49860T =NBRC 116108T), and Nocardioides terrisoli sp. nov., with the type strain YR1T (=KCTC 49863T =NBRC 116165T).

Effect of Oral Administration of Egg Yolk on Cholesterol Metabolism in Rats (난황 경구투여가 랫드의 콜레스테롤 대사에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was performed to elucidate the biochemical mechanism of metabolism on reducing blood lipid, by oral administration of egg yolk in rats. A total of 36 Sprague Dawley male rats were randomized into four treatment groups, according to a randomized block design. Each group was further divided into three repeat cages, with each repeat cage comprising of 3 rats. The animals were orally administered with egg yolk once a day, while feeding the same purified pellet diet for 6 weeks. The four treatment groups were: C(control, saline 1.0 g), T1(pork belly oil 1.0 g), T2(egg yolk 1.0 g), T3(pork belly oil 1.0 g and egg yolk 1.0 g alternating every week). The measured parameters in each group are listed as follows in the order of highest to the lowest: daily average gain of body weight(T1>T3>T2>C); blood triglyceride and total cholesterol(T1>C>T3>T2) HDL-C (T2>C>T3>T1); and LDL-C (T1>T3>C>T2). AST and ALT, which are the index of liver function, were the highest in T1 but was lowest in T2. The weights of the liver, spleen, and kidney, except for the abdominal fat, showed no significant difference. The weight of abdominal fat was the highest in T1, but there were no significant difference among C, T2, and T3. The HMG-CoA reductase activity was the highest in T1 followed by T3, C but T2 was lowest. The daily fecal excretions of the total sterol, neutral sterol and acid sterol was highest in T2 but lowest in T1. The results of this study show that the egg consumption reduces the blood lipid through facilitation of fecal excretions of sterols and inhibition of enzyme activity in cholesterol biosynthesis, in the liver of animal and human.

Effects of Fermented Feedstuff with Wet Brewer’s Grain and Soybean on Fattening Performance and Carcass Grade in hanwoo Steers (맥주박 발효사료 및 대두의 급여가 한우 거세우의 육성성적 및 도체등급에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to examine the feeding effects of FFWBG (fermented feedstuff with wet brewer’s grain) and GS(grinding soybean) in Hanwoo steers. For this research, total twenty steers(average body weight : 455.7$\pm$25.9kg) were grouped into control(formula feed), T1(formula feed:FFWBG=60:40), T2(formula feed:GS=80:20), T3(formula feed:FFWBG:GS=50:40:10), and T4(formula feed: FFWBG:GS=40:40:20), each treatment was allocated to four steers. There was a tendency to be increased average daily gain in T1, T2, T3 and T4 compared with the control even though no statistical significance was found. The feed conversion of T1, T2, T3 and T4 were beneficially better than that of control(P<0.05; 8.25, 9.44, 6.69 and 7.71 vs 11.90, respectively). The blood urea nitrogen concentration of T4 was higher than that of control(P<0.05), but the creatinine concentration of T4 was lower than that of control(P<0.05). The glucose concentration of T1, T2, T3 and T4 were higher than that of control(P<0.05; 59.39, 62.44, 62.17 and 54.00 vs 51.00mg/$d\ell$, respectively). The back-fat thickness of T3 was thicker than that of control, T1, T2 and T4. The rib-eye area of T1, T3 and T4 was wider than that of control. Appearances percentage of ‘A’ ranked meat quantity were 66, 33, 75 and 33% in control, T1, T2 and T4, respectively.

Changes in Physicochemical Properties of Ground Pork Meat Containing Grape Peel during Refrigerated Storage (포도과피를 첨가한 분쇄돈육의 냉장저장 중 품질변화)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effect of grape peel on the physicochemical properties of ground pork stored at 4℃ for 10 d. Four types of ground pork were evaluated: T0 without grape peel, T1 with 0.3% grape peel, T2 with 0.7% grape peel, and T3 with 1.0% grape peel. The pH increased during storage, with that of T3 the lowest (p<0.05). The L-value and a-value decreased during storage, and the a-values of T2 and T3 were significantly higher than those of T0 and T1 (p<0.05). The b-values of T0 and T1 increased with a longer storage period (p<0.05), but those of T2 and T3 were not significantly changed. The TBARS (2-thiobarbituric acid reactive substances) content increased with a longer storage period, and the TBARS content of both T2 and T3 was significantly lower than that of T0 and T1 (p<0.05). DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) free radical scavenging activity declined with a longer storage period, and the activity of T2 and T3 was significantly higher than that of T0 and T1 (p<0.05). The VBN content of T0 and T1 also increased with a longer storage period (p<0.05), but the VBN content of T2 and T3 was not significantly changed. After storage for 4 d, the water-holding capacity declined and cooking loss and hardness increased (p<0.05), and these parameters were not significantly different among any samples. Chewiness increased with a longer storage period (p<0.05). The results suggest that the addition of grape peel to ground pork can enhance its functionality.

The Effects of Corn Silage and Roughages Feeding Systems on Milk Yield and Compositions (옥수수 Silage 및 조사료 급여 체계가 유량 및 유성분에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was carried out to determine the effect of corn silage and roughage feeding systems on milk yield and milk compositions. The experimental design was allotted into 3 treatments according to the feeding systems of rice straw(rice straw+concentrate: T1), corn silage(corn silage + concentrate: T2) and TMR treatment(Total mixed rate : roughage + concentrate: T3). This research was carried out from Oct. 1988 to Mar. 1999 at Kimcheon Kyungbook. The results obtained were summarized as follows: 1. The milk yield increased upon T2(31.9$\pm$3.2kg) > T3(29.6$\pm$3.8kg) > T1 treatment(22.5$\pm$2.0kg)(P<0.05), but cows with T2 and T3 produced the highest at third parity while T1 at forth parity. 2. The milk fat percentage was the highest at T3 treatment(3.79$\pm$0.31%), and on the other hand T1 treatment appeared the lowest percentage. Cow at 2nd parity produced the highest milk fat contend over the other parity. 3. There was no significant difference in protein content between treatments and parity, but T2 and T3 were higher than T1 4. Treatment did not affact content of SNF even though T2 and T3 of the SNF revealed to higher than T1. T5 was T3(12.51$\pm$0.57%)>T1(11.71$\pm$0.62%)>T2 treatment(11.52$\pm$0.55%). These were not significant. 5. Somatic cell counts were the highest at T1(39.6 ${\times}$ $10^4$cell/ml), but T2 treatment was the lowest as 28.7 ${\times}$ $10^4$ cell/ml. These results indicates that com silage(T2) and TMR treatment(T3) could be recommended

Institutional Improvements for Security of IoT Devices (IoT 기기의 보안성 확보를 위한 제도적 개선방안)

  • Recently, IoT products with various functions are being developed. Through the combination of objects and information technology, convenient services that have not been imagined before are emerging. For a secure IoT environment, product security must be considered. However, the existing IoT products have various problems such as security vulnerability. In order to secure the security of IoT products, technical countermeasures as well as policy responses are needed. However, the legislation related to current IoT products has a limit to guarantee safety in IoT environment. In this paper, we analyze the limitations of the current legal system of IoT, and suggests ways to improve it.

우모를 이용한 taurine 강화 계란 생산

  • The experiments were conducted to investigate the effects of supplementary feather meal(FM) and its digest on the taurine content and performance of laying hens. Feeding trial was conducted with 810 78-wk-old ISA-Brown layers for 5wk. The experiment consisted of nine dietary treatments ; T1 ; control(basal diet), T2;Tl + feather meal(FM) 6 % diet, T3;T2 + pyridoxin(21 mg/kg) supplemented diet, T4; T1 + H$_2$O$_2$treated FM 6%, T5; T4 + pyridoxin(21 mg/kg) supplemented diet, T6; T1 + cystine(0.25 %) supplemented diet, T7; T6 + pyridoxin(21 mg/kg) supplemented diet, T8; T1 + synthetic taurine supplemented(0.25%) diet, T9; T1 + synthetic taurine supplemented(0.5 %) diet. Diets were formulated to be iso-caloric and to meet NRC(1994) requirements of essential nutriente. Birds in treatments T3 showed significantly higher(P<0.01) egg production, feed intake, feed conversion ratio, egg weight, haugh unit and eggshell strength than those fed other treatments. Supplementation of FM. H$_2$O$_2$treated FM and cystine with or without pyridoxin did not significantly affected taurine content of egg yolk. Only synthetic taurine supplemented diets(T8 and T9) linearly increased(P<0.01) taurine content of egg yolk.

  • As research on IT convergence continues, the scope of IoT (Internet of Things) services continues to expand. The IoT service uses a device suitable for the purpose. These IoT devices require an authentication function. In addition, in IoT services that handle important information such as personal information, security of transmission data is required. In this study, we implement a crypto key-based IoT network security system that can authenticate devices for IoT services and securely transmit data between devices. Through this study, IoT service can authenticate the device itself and maintain the confidentiality of transmitted data. However, since it is an IoT service, additional research on the application efficiency of the encryption algorithm is required.

  • To examine the effects of feed additives on the expression of perpheral blood cell surface molecules, phagocytosis and antigen specific antibody formation, broilers were randomly assigned to $T_{1}$ , $T_{2}$ , $T_{3}$ , and $T_{4}$ groups. $T_{1}$ group was fed diet without any additives for 13 weeks, $T_{2}$ was fed diet with full fat flax, $T_{3}$ was fed diet with full fat flax containing $\alpha$-tocopherol, and $T_{4}$ was fed diet with full- fat flax containing $\alpha$-tocopherol and selenium. Since 5 weeks feeding the data were examined by flow cytometry using a panel of monoclonal antibodies. The expression of monocyte in all treated groups was significantly increased, in which the ratio of expression in $T_{3}$ group was especially evident. B cell expression of all treated groups was increased more than 2 fold. The expression of CD4+(helper T cell) cell and CD8+(cytotox$ic^pressor T cell) cell of all treated groups also was increased.ed.

The Influence of Location Uncertainty and Visibility of Targets on the Strength of Attentional Blink (표적 위치의 불확실성과 표적 가시성이 주의깜박거림 강도에 미치는 영향)

  • Attentional blink (AB) refers to the phenomena where conscious report for a target (T2) subsequent to the first target (T1) in a stream of items under rapid serial visual presentation (RSVP) becomes difficult if the T2 follows no later than 500ms after the T1. The present study examined the effect of T1 visibility on T2 AB strength according to the bottleneck account proposing that the amount of allocated resources for T1 memory consolidation determines the strength of AB against T2. In the low-visibility condition, the T1 had a gray color for a low stimulus contrast against the black background whereas had a bright and saturated color in the high-visibility condition. In both visibility conditions, the T1 was also highly distinct from the remaining distractors. A multi-RSVP method was also used for increasing location uncertainty of the targets supposedly consuming on average attentional resources for the targets. Two experiments revealed that AB strength was more intense in the low-visibility than high-visibility condition, and the pattern of difference went more pronounced if T2 visibility was improved. The results indicate that T1 visibility can affect more strongly when attentional resources are relatively lacking for resolving the T1 bottleneck, and support for the bottleneck account proposing that the level of T1's visibility can determine the intensity of the T1 bottleneck.
