The survival rate of children with cancer has increased significantly from less than 30% in 1960s to 75% during the recent years with the development of modern medical technologies. As a result, the cancer of children today is no longer classified as incurable diseases. Rather, it is recognized as a chronic illness. However, children with cancer are still suffering from physical and psychosocial ailments caused by long-term hospitalization. In particular, teenagers are more likely to be affected by these problems because of interests on one's appearance and peer relationships This study investigated the relationship of the level of body distortion and disease adjustment of children with cancer, and how demographic factors, disease factors, and the level of body distortion affect disease adjustment. Data were collected between October 22, 2007 and November 16, 2007 and the total respondents consisted of 82 children, ages 10 to 18. SPSS 12.0 with descriptive statistics, t-test, correlation and multiple regression were used for data analysis. The results showed that the factors which influence the disease adjustment of children with cancer were age, school enrollment, and the level of body distortion. The result of this study has major implications for the government to provide support for children with cancer to stay in school. Additionally, programs that assist children to build positive body images need to be developed in accordance with their ages and psychosocial characteristics.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the general characteristics, work overload, work life balance, job engagement of working adolescents and the factors affecting job engagement. We examined 1,772 working adolescents under the age of 24 years in response to the fifth Korean Working Conditions Survey. Technical statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and regression analysis were used. The study results showed that men had high-level job engagement when they were professional, self-employed, 41-52 hours per week, and never experienced employment discrimination. For women, job engagement was high if they were under 19 years of age, college graduates, professions, temporary work, 41-52 hours a week, and had never experienced gender discrimination, and employment discrimination. In addition, the job engagement of both men and women was higher when work overload was less and work life balance was good. This study is meaningful in that it examined the job engagement of working youth by using the Korean Working Conditions Survey representative of Korean workers. However, it has limitations in that it does not take into account specific circumstances such as academic status or military service. Based on the study results, it can be used as basic data for developing educational programs to manage job engagement and understanding of working adolescents.
The purpose of this study was to examine the degree of successful aging and to investigate influencing factors of it in elderly to types of gender. Subjects were 73 male elderly and 77 female elderly, total 150 elderly living at K city in C province, from May to June, 2012. The data were analyzed using the SPSS Win 18.0 program for $X^2$ test, t-test, Pearson's correlation coefficients and multiple regression analysis. The correlated factors of successful aging among male elders included life satisfaction(r=.525, p<.001), family support(r=.355, p=.004), depression(r=-.555, p<.001) and loneliness(r=-.437, p<.001). Those of successful aging among female elders included life satisfaction(r=.607, p<.001), leisure satisfaction(r=.679, p<.001), family support(r=.784, p<.001), depression(r=-.516, p<.001), loneliness(r=-.644, p<.001) and self-transcendence(r=.576, p<.001). Life satisfaction and depression were statistically significant influencing factors of successful aging in male elders. Especially in the cases of female elders, life satisfaction, depression, family support and self-transcendence affected to successful aging. Life satisfaction, depression, family support, and self-transcendence were explained 52.9% in perception of successful aging among elders. This study suggests that life satisfaction, depression, family support, and self-transcendence will be considered in enhancing the successful aging promoting care and welfare designed for types of gender.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of breeding experiences of companion animals on elementary school students' interest in science, science curiosity, and science self-concept in relation to companion animals that are rapidly increasing in modern society. To achieve the purpose of this study, level of four hundred and seventy-four 6th grade at elementary school students' interest in science, science curiosity, and science self-concept according to breeding experiences of companion animals were compared and analyzed through ANOVA and independent sample t-test. As a result of the analysis, students who have experience in raising companion animals have higher interest in science, science curiosity, and science self-concept than students who have no experience in raising companion animals. It is believed that students participate in breeding activities of companion animals with interest and curiosity, and that self-concept has increased due to the process of acquiring knowledge necessary to raise companion animals and successful breeding experiences. The results of this study are meaningful in that they discussed the implications of breeding experiences of companion animals for science education, using companion animals that have not been studied much in the field of science education so far.
This study was performed to utilize for foundation data of research related nursing communication and developing nursing intervention by examining the relationship between nurses' perception of the elderly and communication. This study is a descriptive research using a set of questionnaires that examines the relationship between nurses who provide care to the elderly by confirming their perception of the elderly, communication difficulties with the elderly, communication behavior, and satisfaction with communication. After IRB approval, data were collected either face-to-face survey or by online survey. A total of 292 nurses participated in this study. The collected data were analyzed as descriptive statistics, t-test and ANOVA, Duncan test and Pearson's Correlation Coefficients, Multiple Regression Analysis by using SPSS/WIN 26 program. As a result, a significant correlation was identified between perception of the elderly and communication disorders, communication behavior, and communication satisfaction. We found that nurses who had more positive perceptions about the elderly had less communication disorders, better communication behaviors, and higher communication satisfaction with the elderly. From this result, we suggest that nurses caring for the elderly should receive education on communication methods with elderly to improve their perception. Furthermore, we suggest future studies to improve nurse's perception of the elderly and communication.

This study was executed to develop an education program, which improves knowledge for dementia prevention of the middle aged and enhances positive attitudes, and provide basic data that can apply to communities by inquiring into the middle aged's dementia knowledge, attitudes and needs for dementia prevention education. The study data were collected from 218 people aged 40 to 64 in N city from October 15th to November 30th 2018. For data analysis, frequencies and percentages, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test and Pearson's correlation coefficients were applied. The study result displayed that the score of the middle aged's dementia knowledge was above average(9.13±2.20). The question 'Dementia is a disease.' earned the highest percentage of correct answers(88.1%), whereas the question 'Dementia is caused by medical, neurologic or psychiatric disorders.' earned the lowest percentage of correct answers(30.3%). The scores of attitudes towards dementia(34.33±5.69) and needs for dementia prevention education(23.58±3.46) were above average. In addition, there was a statistically significant positive correlation between attitudes towards dementia and needs for dementia prevention education(r=.275, p<.000). In conclusion, it was revealed that positive attitudes towards dementia had a close relation with needs for dementia prevention education. These findings implies that there will be a need to develop a systematic education program about dementia for the middle aged and seek proper political improvements of dementia through cooperation between communities and the country.

The purpose of this study was to compare the palatal dimensions (volume, width, length, and height) in different malocclusions (Class I, II, and III) in mixed dentition using a three-dimensional digital scanner. The study was performed on 30 selected casts from 1400 casts that were taken at the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at Dankook University. Casts consisted of Class I, II, and III malocclusion groups in Hellman's dental age IIIA. The mean age was 8 years and 6 months ± 11 months. Each cast was scanned by three-dimensional digital scanner, Medit T710 (Medit, Seoul, Korea), and shaped into the three-dimensional image and calculated palatal dimensions using the Plan T program (SMD solution, Seoul, Korea). The values were statistically compared and evaluated by Kruskal-Wallis followed by the Mann-Whitney test. According to our results, subjects with Class II malocclusion showed lower palatal width and longer palatal length compared to those with Class I and Class III. For palatal height, Class III malocclusion subjects in mixed dentition exhibited a larger number than Class II and Class I. Lastly, for palatal volume, compared to other malocclusions, Class III showed higher results; however, there were no significant differences. The form of the palate differs in types of malocclusions and understanding of these differences is important in clinical significance. Based on this study, the understanding of the relationship between the shape of the palate and the skeletal pattern provides useful information about orthodontic treatment plans, early diagnosis of malocclusion, and morphological integration mechanisms. Orthopedic treatment in the maxilla should be performed during early and intermediate mixed dentition to enhance treatment efficiency.

In this study, the adolescents' perception of the Information Search Process(ISP); their anxiety and the need for intervention during the process were investigated based on Kuhlthau's ISP model, and the relationship among the factors was analyzed with structural equations. In addition, the effectiveness of scaffolding strategy to the experimental group during the class was verified. The main findings are as follows. First, as a result of exploring the anxiety felt by learners and the need for intervention in the information search process, it was found that the presentation stage had a significant effect on the anxiety, and the collection, presentation, and assessment stages had significant effects on the need for intervention. Second, as a result of controlling each variable to investigate the anxiety felt by learners and necessity of intervention in the information search process, it was confirmed that among the demographic variables, the difference between the first graders and the second ones was significant; and the difference in the metropolitan area was more significant than that in the Gangwon province. Third, as a result of paired t-test and covariance analysis on the control group and the experimental group, it was confirmed that the anxiety and need for intervention of the experimental group were statistically significantly reduced. The significance of this study lies in the point that it presents a practical basis for applying scaffolding strategies appropriate to information search process in the field of education.
Objective : This study aimed to investigate the current status of physical therapy in children and adolescents. Methods : Sixty questionnaires from physical therapists treating children and adolescents with disabilities were analyzed. The questionnaire consisted of questions on physical therapy, participants, satisfaction, and the assessment of pediatric and adolescent physical therapy. Descriptive statistics and frequencies were used to investigate the current status, participants, and satisfaction. Differences between physical therapy participation difficulty, importance-ability of major aspects of pediatric and adolescent physical therapy, and therapy goal frequency were analyzed using paired T-test.
