  • Text data is usually made up of a wide variety of unique words. Even in standard text data, it is common to find tens of thousands of different words. In text data analysis, usually, each unique word is treated as a variable. Thus, text data can be regarded as a dataset with a large number of variables. On the other hand, in text data classification, we often encounter class label imbalance problems. In the cases of substantial imbalances, the performance of conventional classification models can be severely degraded. To improve the classification performance of support vector machines (SVM) for imbalanced data, algorithms such as the Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique (SMOTE) can be used. The SMOTE algorithm synthetically generates new observations for the minority class based on the k-Nearest Neighbors (kNN) algorithm. However, in datasets with a large number of variables, such as text data, errors may accumulate. This can potentially impact the performance of the kNN algorithm. In this study, we propose a method for enhancing prediction performance for the minority class of imbalanced text data. Our approach involves employing variable selection to generate new synthetic observations in a reduced space, thereby improving the overall classification performance of SVM.

  • The purpose of study is to survey the system of the Korean Gangsin-mu shaman costume and its formative character and to fine out the traditional follow patterns of government officials' attires and Po's meaning of it. The overall shape of variety 'Po's in modern times are similar to the traditional ones, but they differ greatly in size, detail color, and ornamental design. The sleeves have slits in the armholes, which can allow the hands to be drawn out easily. In addition, the knot buttons are used in the modern costumes. They are based on different formation skills from those of the traditional The original color of the shaman's costume is not their taste in color but symbolic, modern costumes color show the shaman's taste in color. This change mean a more accentuated visual effect than incantatory meaning. Another reason for color change is also the costume's material. A kind of constituent element uses synthetic fiber in modern times.

  • From 1975 to 2011, for thirty six years, the author and his collaborators have developed a variety of reducing and hydroborating agents, and applied them to organic synthesis, which involves the 1,2-reduction of ${\alpha}$,${\beta}$-unsaturated carbonyl compounds, stereoselective reduction of cycloalkanones, regioselective ring-opening of epoxides, partial reduction of carboxylic acid derivatives to aldehydes, regioselective addition to carbon-carbon multiple bonds, etc. by utilizing metal hydrides and the newly-devised the Meerwein-Ponndorf-Verley (MPV) type reagents. Such developments provide a new synthetic methodology making possible valuable selective reductions and hydroborations, not practical previously.

  • Polymer architectures containing metal-ligands in their side chain represent a diverse approach to generating multi-functional materials. The ability to define a versatile synthetic platform will enable many chemistries and architectures to be studied. This report describes our latest efforts to prepare these unique polymers; random and block copolymers have been successfully prepared. Subsequent functionalization with metal ions leads to a variety of properties including metal induced gelation, solvochromic and metal ion sensors, and unique hierarchical self-assembled structures.

  • Silk is a textile material, as well as one of the oldest biomaterials. However, the recent progress of biomedical science and technology has led to the replacement of silk by various biomaterials based on synthetic polymers. Despite the wide variety of biomaterials available, these materials suffer certain limitations that prevent them from meeting the various demands of the medical field. Therefore, silk continues to attract considerable interest as a promising biomaterial. This paper explains the fundamentals of silk protein, and reviews the many applications of silk biomedical polymers.

  • Image resampling according to epipolar geometry is an important prerequisite for a variety of photogrammetric tasks. Established procedures for resampling frame images according to epipolar geometry are not suitable for scenes captured by line cameras. In this paper, the mathematical model describing epipolar lines in scenes captured by line cameras moving with constant velocity and attitude is established and analyzed. The choice of this trajectory is motivated by the fact that many line cameras can be assumed to follow such a flight path during the short duration of a scene capture (especially when considering space-borne imaging platforms). Experimental results from synthetic along-track and across-track stereo-scenes are presented. For these scenes, the deviations of the resulting epipolar lines from straightness, as the camera's angular field of view decreases, are quantified and presented.

  • Our studies in the area of single electron transfer (SET) photochemistry have led to the discovery of efficient processes, in which regioselective formation of carbon-centered radicals takes place by nucleophile assisted desilylation of $\alpha$-trialkylsilyl substituted ether, thioether, amine and amide centered cation radicals. The rates of bimolecular desilylation of the intermediate cation radicals exceed those of other cation radical $\alpha$-fragmentation processes (e.g.,-deprotonation). This sereves as the basis for the design of highly regioselective, SET-induced photomacrocyclization reactions of polyether, polythioether, polyamide, and polypeptide linked phthalimides. Photocyclization reactions of trimethylsilyl-terminated substrates in these families are unique in that they produce polyfunctionalized macrocyclic substances in a highly efficient and regioselective manner. In addition, our studies in this area have led to important information about the factors that govern chemical and quantum efficiencies that should be applicable to a wide variety of redox processes promoted by SET from substrates containing more than one electron donor site.

  • This study proposes a method to develop an authoring system(GeoMaTree) for diverse trees that constitute a virtual landscape. The GeoMaTree system enables the simple, intuitive production of an efficient structure, and supports real-time processing. The core of the proposed system is a procedural modeling based on a mathematical model and an application that supports digital content creation on diverse platforms. The procedural modeling allows users to control the complex pattern of branch propagation through an intuitive process. The application is a multi-resolution 3D model that supports appropriate optimization for a tree structure. The application and a compatible function, with commercial tools for supporting the creation of realistic synthetic images and virtual landscapes, are implemented, and the proposed system is applied to a variety of 3D image content.

  • The set of admissible time-variations in the input signal can be separated into two categories : slow parameter changes and large parameter changes which occur infrequently. A common approach used in the tracking of slowly time-varying parameters is the exponential recursive least-squares(RLS) algorithm. There have been a variety of research works on the error analysis of the exponential RLS algorithm for the slowly time-varying parameters. In this paper, the focus has been given to the error analysis of exponential RLS algorithms for the input data with abrupt property changes. The voiced speech signal is chosen as the principal application. In order to analyze the error performance of the exponential RLS algorithm, deterministic properties of the exponential RLS algorithms is first analyzed for the case of abrupt parameter changes, the impulsive input(or error variance) synchronous to the abrupt change of parameter vectors actually enhances the convergence of the exponential RLS algorithm. The analysis has also been verified through simulations on the synthetic speech signal.

  • The genus Rhodococcus is a phylogenetically and catabolically diverse group that has been isolated from diverse environments, including polar and alpine regions, for its versatile ability to degrade a wide variety of natural and synthetic organic compounds. Their metabolic capacity and diversity result from their diverse catabolic genes, which are believed to be obtained through frequent recombination events mediated by large catabolic plasmids. Many rhodococci have been used commercially for the biodegradation of environmental pollutants and for the biocatalytic production of high-value chemicals from low-value materials. Recent studies of their physiology, metabolism, and genome have broadened our knowledge regarding the diverse biotechnological applications that exploit their catabolic enzymes and pathways.
