Nano-sized iron was synthesized using borohydride reduction of $Fe^{3+}$ in aqueous solution. A wide range of synthesis conditions including varying concentrations of reagents, reagent feeding rate, and solution pH was applied in an aqueous system under anaerobic condition. The reactivity of nano-sized iron from each synthesis was evaluated by reacting the iron with TCE in batch systems. Evidence obtained from this study suggest the reactivity of iron is strongly dependent on the synthesis solution pH. The iron reactivity increased as solution pH decreased. More rapid TCE reduction was observed for iron samples synthesized from higher initial $Fe^{3+}$ concentration, which resulted in lower solution pH during the synthesis reaction. Faster feeding of $BH_4^-$ solution to the $Fe^{3+}$ solution resulted in lower synthesis solution pH and the resultant iron samples gave higher TCE reduction rate. Lowering the pH of the solution after completion of the synthesis reaction significantly increased reactivity of iron. It is presumed that the increase in the reactivity of iron synthesized at lower pH is due to less precipitation of iron (hydr)oxides or less surface passivation of iron.
It has been known that, in enzymatic synthesis of cephalexin, the conversion yield was reduced by high loading of ampicillin acylase. In order to elucidate this phenomena, pH-controlled synthesis of cephalexin was examined using a purified Acetobacter turbidans acylase. When the pH of the reaction mixture was maintained at $6.20{\pm}0.04$, the reduction of the maximal conversion rate was not observed even with high enzyme loading. The kinetic parameters also suggest that pH drop during the enzymatic synthesis of cephalexin was mainly attributed to the rapid hydrolysis of D-${\alpha}$-phenylglycine methyl ester to D-${\alpha}$-phenylglycine, rather than the disappearance of 7-amino-3-deacetoxycephalosporanic acid for cephalexin synthesis. At higher molar ratio of two substrates, [D-${\alpha}$-phenylglycine methyl ester]/[7-amino-3-deacetoxycephalosporanic acid], the conversion rate was also elevated under pH-controlled enzymatic synthesis, which implies that the main reason for the pH drop is due to the production of D-${\alpha}$-phenylglycine methyl easter, the effect of a water-methanol cosolvent system on the ester, the effect of a water-methanol cosolvent system on the conversion profile was also examined. Even the though the conversion rate was increased in 10% methanol solution, a higher than 16% methanol in the reaction mixture caused an inactivation of enzyme.

The effect of operating conditions (temperature and the partial pressures of H2 and CO) on the reaction rate of Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS) were investigated by carrying out experiments according to a Box-Behnken design (BBD), and were mathematically modeled by using response surface methodology (RSM). The catalyst used was a nano-structured cobalt/manganese oxide catalyst, which was prepared by thermal decomposition. The rate of synthesis was measured in a fixed-bed micro reactor with $H_2/CO$ molar feed ratio of 0.32-3.11 and reactor pressure in the range of 3-9.33 bar at space velocity of $3600h^{-1}$ and a temperature range of 463.15-503.15 K, under differential conditions (CO conversion below 2%). The results indicated that in the present experimental setup, the temperature and the partial pressure of CO were the most significant variables affecting reaction rate. Based on statistical analysis the quadratic model of reaction rate of FTS was highly significant as p-value 0.0002.
The synthesis of lauryl palmitate from palmitic acid and lauryl alcohol was investigated in organic solvents using lipase. Water-immiscible organic solvent such as hexane, toluenem cyclohexane, and isooctane were found to be suitable of ester synthesis . The effect of water content on the initial rate of conversion was examined . As the content increased, the reaction rate increased. But addition of water in organic solvent decreased therostability of enzyme . The best lauryl palmitate synthesis was achieved with water content of 0.2-0.4% reaction temperature of 4$0^{\circ}C$ and 45$^{\circ}C$ for Candida cylindracea lipase porcine, pancreatic lipase, respectively. when ester synthesis was carried out under the optimum conditions, the conversion yield of palmitate into lauryl palmitate after 70hrs reached 85% and 69 % for the Candida cylindracea lipase and porcine opancreatic lipase, respectivley.
The kinetics of the direct synthesis of DME was studied under different conditions over a temperature range of $220\~280^{\circ}C$, syngas ratio $1.2\~ 3.0$ All experiment were carried out over hybrid catalyst, composed to a methanol synthesis catalyst (Cu/ZnO/$Al_2O_3$) and a dehydration Catalyst ($\gamma$-Al_2O_3$) The observed reaction rate qualitatively follows a Langmiur-Hinshellwood type of reaction mechanism. Such a mechanism is considered with three reaction, methanol synthesis, methanol dehydration and water gas shift reaction. From a surface reaction with dissociative adsorption of hydrogen, methanol and water, individual reaction rate was determined
Muscle protein synthesis in vitro was measured in chicks fed low-protein(10% CP) and control(20% CP) diets. Right leg muscles (M. gastrocnemius) were mounted on a support made of stainless steel to stretch in constant tension, whereas left leg muscles were unmounted. Both leg muscles were incubated in Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium including L-[$4-^3H$] phenylalanine for 60 min to measure in vitro protein synthesis. There was no significant difference in fractional synthesis rate(FSR) of muscle protein between both dietary protein levels, whereas FSR with stretch in constant tension was significantly higher than that without constant tension due to an increase in the absolute synthesis rate(ASR) per unit RNA(the efficiency of RNA to synthesize protein). The ASR of muscle protein in chicks fed the control diet was significantly higher than that in the low-protein diet group.
Speech synthesis can classify by synthesis way, that is waveform coding, source coding and mixture coding. Specially, waveform coding is suitable for high quality synthesis. However, it is not desirable by synthesis techniques of syllable or phoneme unit because it do not separate and handles excitation and formant part. Therefore, there is a need for pitch alteration method applied in synthesis by the rule in waveform coding. This study propose about pitch alteration method that use spectrum scaling after do to flatten spectra by subband linear approximation to minimize spectrum distortion. This paper show evaluation whether show excellency of some measure compared with LPC, Cepstrum, lifter function and method that propose. estimation method seeks distribution of each flattened signal and measured degree of flattened spectra Signal flattened is normalized, So that highest point amounts to zero, and distribution of signal ,whose average is zero, is calculated. this show result that measure the spectrum distortion rate to estimate performance of method that propose. The average spectrum distortion rate was kept below the average 2.12%, so the method that propose is superiors than existent method.
The formation of $n-TiO_2$ powder by oxidation of Ti-ethoxied vapor in a flat flame burner reactor maintained under 20 torr has been studied. The produced powder were characterized in terms of crystal structure, chemical composition by XRD and TEM. The results showed that the powder consisted of loose agglomerated anatase and rutile particles and their size were about 10 nm and 20 nm, respectively. In the course of synthesis, changes of the flame color were happened to each condition during heating up the bubbler. The flame color transition phenomena reveled that a critical precursor delivery rate was needed for the powder formation (obtainable powder yield). The critical precursor delivery rate was estimated by a simple function of the bubbler temperature and the carrier gas flow rate. The critical precursor delivery rate was reviewed as an important variable of the nanopowder synthesis.
The kinetics of the thermolysin-catalyzed synthesis of N-(benzyloxycarbonyl)-L-phenylalanyl-L-leucine ethyl ester (Z-Phe-LeuOEt) from N-(benzyloxycarbonyl)-L-phyenylalanine (Z-Phe) and L-leucine ethyl ester (LeuOEt) in an ethyl acetate saturated aqueous system in a batch operation were studied. The kinetics for the synthesis of Z-Phe-LeuOEt were expressed using a rate equation for the rapid equilibrium random bireactant mechanism. The four kinetic constants involved in the rate equation were determined numerically by the quasi-Newton method so as to fit the calculated results with the experimental data. Within the pH and temperature range examined, the $K_{cat}$ value for the synthesis of Z-Phe-LeuOEt reached a maximum at pH 7.0 and $45^{\circ}C$, whereas the affinity between Z-Phe and thermolysin reached a maximum at pH 6.0 adn $40^{\circ}C$. The inhibitory effect of Z-Phe on the condensation reaction decreased as the pH and temperature decreased. In contrast, they affinity between LeuOEt and thermolysin remained unchanged within the pH and temperature range examined. Therefore, it was concluded that the protonation state of the carboxyl groups. of Z-Phe was more imprtant than that of the amono groups of LeuOEt for the synthesis of Z-Phe-LeuOEt in the present solvent system. The equilibrium yield at pH 6.0 and $30^{\circ}C$ was 8% higher than that at pH 7.0 and $40^{\circ}C$, although the rate was much slower. This result suggested that the affinity between the enzyme and the substrate rather than the overall rate was a more important factor affecting the equilibrium yield, when the peptide synthesis was carried out in a product-precipitation system.
Adaptive controllers for linear system whose nominal values of coefficients only are known, that is corrupted by disturbance, are designed by signal synthesis model reference adaptive control (MRAC). This design is stemmed from the Lyapunov direct method. To reduce the model following error and to improve the conrergence rate of the design, an indirect suboptimal control law is de rived using the Hamilton Jacobi Beellman equation. Proper compensaton for the effects of time varying coefficients and plant disturbance are suggested. In the design procedure no complete identification of unknown coefficients are required.
