Development of an algorithm for the control of prosodic factors to synthesize unlimited isolated words in the time domain (시간 영역에서의 무제한 고립어 합성을 위한 운율 요소 제어용 알고리즘 개발)

  • This paper is to develop an algorithm for the unlimited korean speech synthesis. We present the results controlled of prosodic factors with isolated words as aynthesis basis unit int he time domain. With a new pitch-synchronous and parametric speech synthesis mehtod in the time domain here we mainly present the results of controlled prosody factors such a spitch periods, energy envelops and durations and the evaluaton of synthetic speech qualities. In the case of synthesis, it is possible ot synthesize connected words by controlling of a continuous unified prosody that makes to improve the naturalities. In the results of experiment, it also has been to be improved uncontinuities of pitch and zeroing of energy in the junction parts of speech waveforms. Specially it has been to be possible to synthesize speeches with unlimitted durations and tones. So on it makes the noisiness and the clearness better by improving the degradation effects from the phase distortion due to the discontinuities in the waveform connection parts.

  • A 5-axis CNC machine tool is more useful compared with a 3-axis machine tool, because the position and the orientation of a tool tip can be controlled simultaneously. Unlike the 3-axis machine tool, the 5-axis machine tool has the volumetric position error and volumetric orientation error due to the quasi-static error of each machine tool joint which is a major source of machined part error. So, the generalized error synthesis model of the 5-axis CNC machine tool was developed to predict and to compensate for the volumetric position error and the volumetric orientation error. It was proposed that a compensation algorithm to correct simultaneously the volumetric position error and the volumetric orientation error of the 5-axis CNC machine by error inverse kinematic.

  • The purpose of this paper is to develop a model enabling to predict the prosody of Korean text-to-speech synthesis using the CART and SKES algorithms. CART prefers a prediction variable in many instances. Therefore, a partition method by F-Test was applied to CART which had reduced the number of instances by grouping phonemes. Furthermore, the quality of the text-to-speech synthesis was evaluated after applying the SKES algorithm to the same data size. For the evaluation, MOS tests were performed on 30 men and women in their twenties. Results showed that the synthesized speech was improved in a more clear and natural manner by applying the SKES algorithm.

  • An improved genetic algorithm was proposed for pattern synthesis of an adaptive beam forming system using phased array antennas. The proposed genetic algorithm is an algorithm that adds acquired characteristics procedure to solve local optimization using the diversity. The performance of the proposed genetic algorithm is verified through the problem of finding a suitable chromosome for a picture composed of binary. And it is confirmed that it is suitable for the adaptive beam forming system based on the performance problem of combining main beam and two pattern nulls.

  • In this paper, we propose a minimal power data path allocation algorithm for low power circuit design. The proposed algorithm minimizes switching activity for input variables in scheduled CDFG. Allocations are further divided into the tasks of register allocation and module allocation. The register allocation algorithm execute that it eliminate spurious switching activity in functional unit and minimize the numbers of multiplexer. Also, resource allocation method selects a sequence of operations for a module such that the switching activity is reduced. Therefore, the algorithm executes to minimize the switching activity of input values, sequence of operations and number of multiplexer. Experimental results using benchmarks show that power is reduction effect from 13% to 17% power consumption, when compared with the Genesis-lp high-level synthesis system.

  • In this research, the automatic synthesis of knowledge models is proposed. which are the basis of the methods using qualitative models adapted widely in fault diagnosis and hazard evaluation of chemical processes. To provide an easy and fast way to construct accurate causal model of the target process, the Role-Behavior modeling method is developed to represent the knowledge of modularized process units. In this modeling method, Fault-Behavior model and Structure-Role model present the relationship of the internal behaviors and faults in the process units and the relationship between process units respectively. Through the multiple modeling techniques, the knowledge is separated into what is independent of process and dependent on process to provide the extensibility and portability in model building, and possibility in the automatic synthesis. By taking advantage of the Role-Behavior Model, an algorithm is proposed to synthesize the plant-wide causal model, Fault-Causality Graph (FCG) from specific Fault-Behavior models of the each unit process, which are derived from generic Fault-Behavior models and Structure-Role model. To validate the proposed modeling method and algorithm, a system for building FCG model is developed on G2, an expert system development tool. Case study such as CSTR with recycle using the developed system showed that the proposed method and algorithm were remarkably effective in synthesizing the causal knowledge models for diagnosis of chemical processes.

  • In this paper, we present a new high-level data path synthesis algorithm which solves the two design problems, namely, scheduling and allocation, with power minimization as a key design parameter. From the observations in previous works on data path synthesis for low power, we derive an integer programming (IP) formulation for the problem, from which we then develop an efficient heuristic to carry out the scheduling and allocation simultaneously. Our experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm is very effective in saving power consumption of circuits significantly.

  • Natural synthesis of real and virtual images is a key technology in mixed reality. For this purpose, we propose an efficient dense disparity estimation algorithm and a synthesis algorithm considering features of stereo images. Dense disparities are estimated hierarchically from the low to high resolution images. In the process, the region-dividing-bidirectional-matching algorithm makes matching process efficient and keeps the reliability of the estimated disparities, and dense disparities are assigned considering edge information. finally, mixed reality stereo images are synthesized by comparing depth data of real and virtual Images. Computer simulation shows that the proposed algorithms estimate very stable disparity vectors with sharp edge and synthesize natural stereo mixed reality images.

  • For the testability, this paper proposed the algorithm at autonomous synthesis which includes the data path structure as the self testing as possible on high level synthesis method when VHDL, coding is used in the system design area. In the proposed algorithm of this paper, MUXs and registers are assigned to the data path of designed system. And the designed data path could be mapped the H/W specification of described VHDL coding to the testable library. As a results, it was mapped H/W to the assign algorithm that is minimized MUX and the registers in collision graph.

  • In this paper, we propose an interactive genetic algorithm (IGA) to implement an automated 2D avatar synthesis. The IGA technique is capable of expressing user's personality in the avatar synthesis by using the user's response as a candidate for the fitness value. Our suggested IGA method is applied to creating avatars automatically. Unlike the previous works, we introduce the concepts of 'hidden population', as well as 'primitive avatar' and 'simplified genotype', which are used to overcome the shortcomings of IGA such as human fatigue or reliability, and reasonable rates of convergence with a less number of iterations. The procedure of designing avatar models consists of two steps. The first step is to detect the facial feature points and the second step is to create the subjectively optimal avatars with diversity by embedding user's preference, intuition, emotion, psychological aspects, or a more general term, KANSEI. Finally, the combined processes result in human-friendly avatars in terms of both genetic optimality and interactive GUI with reliability.
