A Study of Single Phase Hysteresis Current Control Using Reference Current Slope for Reducing Switching Loss (스위칭 손실 저감을 위한 기준전류 기울기를 이용한 단상 히스테리시스 전류 제어에 관한 연구)

  • Hysteresis current regulator has been used widely because of its simple principle and structure. However, when the current band width is too narrow or the applied voltage is relatively too high, the switching frequency increases abruptly and it makes large amount of heat. In this study, for single phase current control, the hysteresis current control is executed by adding 0 mode state and comparing the slope of the current reference, which decreases the switching frequency so much and make the current control much stable. These were proved with computer simulations.

  • The paper presents a sensorless speed control of interior permanent magnet synchronous motors using an adaptive integral binary observer in view of composition with a main loop regulator and an auxiliary loop regulator. The binary observer has a property of the chattering alleviation in the constant boundary layer; however, the steady state estimation accuracy and robustness are dependent upon with width of the constant boundary. In order to improve the steady state performance of the binary observer, the binary observer is formed by adding extra integral dynamic to the switching hyperplane equation.

  • This paper presents a speed control of permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) using an adaptive integral binary observer without speed and position sensors. A Driving Scheme Using a Single Control Signal for a ZVT Voltage Driven Synchronous Buck Converter

  • This paper deals with the optimization of the driving techniques for the ZVT synchronous buck converter proposed in [1]. Two new gate drive circuits are proposed to allow this converter to operate by only one control signal as a 12V voltage regulator module (VRM). Voltage-driven method is applied for the synchronous rectifier. In addition, the control signal drives the main and auxiliary switches by one driving circuit. Both of the circuits are supplied by the input voltage. As a result, no supply voltage is required. This approach decreases both the complexity and cost in converter hardware implementation and is suitable for practical applications. In addition, the proposed SR driving scheme can also be used for many high frequency resonant converters and some high frequency discontinuous current mode PWM circuits. The ZVT synchronous buck converter with new gate drive circuits is analyzed and the presented experimental results confirm the theoretical analysis.

  • An emergency diesel generator system is an independent source of power that supports important electrical systems on loss of normal power supply. AVR(Automatic Voltage Regulator) is a regulator which regulates the output voltage at a nominal constant voltage level. Specially, a power supply for the AVR must be operated at the very wide input range. In this paper, a flyback power supply with very wide input voltage range is proposed.

  • This paper presents the on-line current controller tuning method of grid-connected inverter using PSO(particle swarm optimization) technique for minimizing the harmonic current. Synchronous frame PI current regulator is commonly used in most distributed generation. However, due to the source voltage distortion, specially in weak AC power system, current may contain large harmonic components, which increase THD(total harmonic distortion) and deteriorates power quality. Therefore, some tuning method is necessary to improve response of current controller. This paper used the PSO technique to tune the current regulator and through simulation and experiments, usefulness of the tuning method has been verified. Especially in simulating the tuning process, ASM(average switching model) of inverter is used to shorten execution time.

Suppression of Leakage Current and Distortion in Variable Capacitance Devices and their Application to AC Power Regulators

  • The quantity of alternating current (AC) leakage and the value of distortion factor in capacitor currents are discussed with regard to a new power component called variable capacitance device (VCD). This component has terminals for controlling its capacitance. Nonlinear dielectric characteristics are utilized in this device to vary the capacitance. When VCD operates in an AC circuit, the AC leakage from this device through direct current (DC) control voltage source increases according to the conditions of DC control voltage and so on. To solve this problem, we propose techniques for suppressing AC leakage. Although VCD has strong nonlinear characteristics, the current through the capacitor is not distorted significantly. The relations between AC leakage and the distortion in current waveforms are investigated. An application example for an AC power regulator is also introduced to evaluate the distortion in waveforms.

  • A highly efficient single-phase/three-phase compatible ac-to-dc converter is proposed and analyzed, which includes three identical single-phase both soft-switched dc-to-dc converter with boost converter as a pre-regulator for input power factor correction (PFC). The proposed converter structure provides a cost reduction and easy implementation of compatibility between single-phase 220V and three-phase 220V/380V with their inputs in delta or wye connections.

  • This paper investigated the effect of right half plane zero on the transient response in the buck-boost DC-DC converter. And it is clarified that the damping ratio decreases gradually by increases of the feedback loop gain and the regulation system of the converter becomes unstable. From the result, we obtained the stability region about the duty ratio and the output current by evaluating the feedback loop gain.

  • In this thesis, after the inverted pendulum being made, its state equation was established with parameters obtained by the state space approach and its position stabilization control was performed with VSS. The switching function of VSS was obtained from pole placement method and as the result of VSS control was compared with that of optimal regulator control, its robustness was clarified in sliding mode. The position and stabilization control of the inverted pendulum Wstem were acomplished with VSS.
